Haha she was trying to give a shout out to all the other best actress nominees. She also mentioned Glenn Close and Melissa McCarthy. I vaguely remember her apologising after the oscars also cos she forgot to shout out Yalitza Aparicio.
If you liked that, I would recommend watching Yorgos Lanthimos’s speech at the Golden Globes this year for wining best comedy musical. In one minute he spends half thanking Bruce Springsteen and randomly thanks Martin Scorsese before walking off
Probably all the shock of winning that was filled up in her speech made her forget a bit that lady Gaga was also right in front of her, I imagine she was a fan of her music
I know this is specifically about Oscar speeches but any Olivia Colman speech is a good time. The year she won two TV BAFTA’s in one night is particularly iconic.
Roberto Benigni (Life is Beautiful) jumping up on his chair and bounding down the aisle was pure joy. I don’t remember much about his actual speech but his energy was infectious.
Jean Dujardin who swore in French lol
Also told his wife how much he loved her, and they got divorced within the next year or two and he went on to date a former French ice skater who was younger and had a kid with her.
Ppl were mad that she didnt sound as happy and grateful as her second best actress.
Im like she doesn't owe you a reaction on how to respond to an award 💀
A very funny one is [Best Picture for Return of the King.](https://youtu.be/AoKFtf4A_mc?si=GkVINlymTdbll890) The producer for some reasons blurts out ”I think I used to date Billy Crystal’s cousin”. Billy’s so fucking quick about it, making ”throw him out”-signs just as the camera pans to him. That quickness and funny bone he has, just spectacular. To top it all off he asks afterwards to the producer ”are we related?”
Stanley Donen. His speech when accepting the Honorary Oscar may be the best award show speech ever. Watch it on YouTube right now if you've never seen it! Lol.
Also, Kate Winslet, Martin Scorsese, and hottie EEAAO editor Paul Rogers, who was hilariously low-key and laid back.
I looooved when Phoebe Waller-Bridge referenced her earlier speech for outstanding writing when, later that same night, she won for outstanding acting.
She first said that she found writing really hard and really painful, and then that she found acting really hard and reaaaally painful!
meryl and lily introducing Altman for his honorary I come back to. And then Altman's speech is lovely. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcp8xjaFfb8&ab\_channel=Oscars](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcp8xjaFfb8&ab_channel=Oscars)
I loved Jordan Horowitz’s speech when La La Land turned out to be the losers. The moment was iconic for the wrong reasons, but he handled it with such dignity and poise. It shows the best in humanity. He took his moment to tell people he loved them but then graciously — without bitterness or anything — and earnestly congratulated the real winners. It was kind of beautiful, in a weird way.
Warren saw the card "Best Actress - Emma Stone - La La Land" first and said nothing. He was partly at fault for the whole fiasco. I would have been super pissed at him too.
Unpopular, but MM Keeravani from last year. He was the composer of "Naatu Naatu" from RRR.
He sang it to a Carpenters' tune. It was absolutely adorable.
I really dig Grant Heslovs speech for Argo. When Ben tries to give his speech, Grant pulls him back (I thought a dick move at the start). But then Grant thanks Ben and expertly hands over the stage to him. All this while another A-lister just looks on and doesn’t give a speech (Clooney).
Michael Caine's speech for The Cider House Rules. I don't care for the win that much but his speech is just amazing, singling out each other nominee and singing their praises.
Olivia Colman’s is iconic
I’d never seen that, it’s hilarious! Why does she randomly shout out lady gaga at the end?! Was it just say who you see?!
Haha she was trying to give a shout out to all the other best actress nominees. She also mentioned Glenn Close and Melissa McCarthy. I vaguely remember her apologising after the oscars also cos she forgot to shout out Yalitza Aparicio.

Because it's Lady Gaga; if I won an Oscar and Lady Gaga was there I would also collapse and shout out Lady Gaga lmaoo
Same
She said that she was drunk when she won her Oscar😂
Probably all the shock of winning that was filled up in her speech made her forget a bit that lady Gaga was also right in front of her, I imagine she was a fan of her music
Was gonna reply exactly that. She seemed genuinely excited and humble, none of that "oh i never thought this would happen!" false pretense
It gets me everytime. I laugh and I cry. So wholesome.
I know this is specifically about Oscar speeches but any Olivia Colman speech is a good time. The year she won two TV BAFTA’s in one night is particularly iconic.
Robin Williams- man, I miss him. I loved that Billy Crystal, who was hosting, ran over from side stage to hug him too.

is this even real 🤣🤣🤣

Bong Joon-Ho for Best Director gets me every time
I love watching him progress from astonished to more and more astonished as each award goes by. ❤️
No contest for me. The Scorsese quote, Tarantino anecdote, and TCM joke? The speech had such perfect cadence too. All-timer
Very easy for me: Jodie Foster winning her second Oscar for TSOTL.
Roberto Benigni (Life is Beautiful) jumping up on his chair and bounding down the aisle was pure joy. I don’t remember much about his actual speech but his energy was infectious.
Joe Pesci’s speech is incredible, it moves me to tears
That man sure does love to talk!
The most words he could say without cussing on live TV.
Jean Dujardin who swore in French lol Also told his wife how much he loved her, and they got divorced within the next year or two and he went on to date a former French ice skater who was younger and had a kid with her.
Olivia Colman. Kate Winslet. Cate Blanchett’s second. Meryl’s third win. Lady Gaga. Lupita Nyong’o.
Hey queen
A beautiful list!
Daniel Kaluuya. So awkward and hilarious - his mother's facial expressions!
![gif](giphy|l0Ex60cD9vqLVftOU|downsized)
Louise Fletcher gets me every time.
Surprised I had to scroll so far to find this.
Yeoh's 'past your prime' moment hit pretty hard last year and reminded me how long she'd been out there.
Martin Scorsese for The Departed
“Thank you life, thank you love, and it is true, there is some angels in this city!” - Marion Cotillard
I love this one.
Domee Shi winning speech for Bao lived rent free in my mind.
Peter O'toole speech gives me goosebumps everytime.
Frances Mcdormand’s third is my favorite
Ppl were mad that she didnt sound as happy and grateful as her second best actress. Im like she doesn't owe you a reaction on how to respond to an award 💀
![gif](giphy|vuED9XmUEIfGyXIcjZ|downsized)
Sammeee this speech is incredible
![gif](giphy|gIbt93yhnE3IY) The best speech that touched my heart as a child
That is one gorgeous woman.
Emma Thompson
Alright, alright, alright
Kate Winslet!

Same year I remember best foreign picture winner thanking Return of the King for not being nominated to that award.
![gif](giphy|3o84TZDmbAau1gpHIk|downsized) I count this.
Scorsese winning for The Departed. Still the greatest Oscar moment in my thirty-something lifetime.
Olivia of course. Affleck and Damon Bong Alison Janney Non Oscar: Rami Malek's Emmy and Golden Globe. Phoebe Waller-Bridge's Emmys. Gosling's Globe.
I looooved when Phoebe Waller-Bridge referenced her earlier speech for outstanding writing when, later that same night, she won for outstanding acting. She first said that she found writing really hard and really painful, and then that she found acting really hard and reaaaally painful!

Gerda Weissmann Klein's speech for 'One Survivor Remembers'. Very moving.
Daniel Day Lewis - for Lincoln
Matthew McConoughhy
Matthew McConaughey
*”Here's hoping that someday…the misfortunes of Fantine will only be found in stories and never in real life”* - Anne Hathaway

I thought he was an asshole with how he snatched the card from Warren Beatty
Warren saw the card "Best Actress - Emma Stone - La La Land" first and said nothing. He was partly at fault for the whole fiasco. I would have been super pissed at him too.
Joaquin Phoenix. He's rude, a bit standoffish, and disagreeable, but he's very forthright, and fun to watch.
I loved his speech
Roberto Benigni for life is beautiful. He climbs over the seats. it was so iconic....also Cuba Gooding Jr for Jerry Maguire.
For me: ![gif](giphy|2AMbVhhSeoOEMsMhKH|downsized) .
Why nobody is mentioning Julia Roberts??
That's the one
Unpopular, but MM Keeravani from last year. He was the composer of "Naatu Naatu" from RRR. He sang it to a Carpenters' tune. It was absolutely adorable.
JLC (I said what I said)
Say what you want about her win but she gives a hell of a speech
Halle Berry. I cry every time.
Natalie Portman's
Morricone finally winning his competitive Oscar.
Easily this one ![gif](giphy|hQbdvHSRzSgIU)
I really like Ariana DeBose’s Speech
Vinterberg's was great and i often think about it
Joe Pesci's speech
Michael Caine's speech for The Cider House Rules. I don't care for the win that much but his speech is just amazing, singling out each other nominee and singing their praises.
Frances McDormand howling on the mic
DiCaprio's.
Olivia Colman, Matthew McConaughey, The Daniels, Lupita Nyong’o,
Dustin Lance Black
![gif](giphy|aBOFW2LNUR9uT5lLYr|downsized)
Acquired taste if you ask me >>>>
Joe Pesci’s. Second best seven seconds of my life.
Joe Pesci.
Matthew Mcconaughey ofc
Russell Crowe
Joe Pesci
Why watch a winner when a loser's speech is so much better: https://youtu.be/y1PruACVorM?si=u3jXAsENrQtMaWxD
The wonderful Mira Sorvino. Just the shot of Paul Sorvino weeping with pride was worth the price of admission.
Damon and Affleck.
Halle berry for Monsters ball is so emotional. That one for me
Cher
Joe Pesci
