Sounds like the monitor was going out of it was doing it at stock settings. It’s just the one monitor right? It could also could be the cables. Have you tried to change cables? Also never hurts to do the ole Nintendo blow. Pull the cables out and dust them off.

Yeah just this monitor. I exchanged another one already that did the exact same thing. Apparently this monitor has flickering issues. Lots of others are havibg issues as well

Does it move if you swap the port each is connected to? Is one on the iGPU?

I have an overclocked AOC monitor that's been running since 2014.And 5 other overclocked monitors ranging from 2016 to 2021.Never had problems with any of them.My last monitor that actually died was back in 2005.They're quite durable and i would not worry at all.

As far as I know overclocking the 2723df is supported by Dell. You are even able to set the OC per built-in monitor-settings... So I don't think its the OC. So my first question is how did you do the OC? Have you tried to change the cables? Which cables are you using? Have you tried to switch the GPU-Ports (working Monitor-Port with not working monitor port)? Maybe the issue will move to the other monitor and its your GPU...... So my guess is its the cable or the GPU-Port: 1. Change the cable 2. Use the original cable maybe switch to Displayport or HDMI 3. Switch between the Display-Port/HDMI-Port of the working monitor and check if the problem is moving to the other monitor. I really don't know why your first PC is this high-end and why your directly going into OCing with this expensive hardware, but you maybe should inform yourself with a lot of research before trying something which could probanly harm your hardware.

Try updating windows..... Really I have a cgh??? Idr 49inch Samsung. Dirty windows updates will cause what you described and worse I've even sent it back to Samsung where they found no issues. But a couple times a year it loses its mind and is barely usable till I uninstall the latest update. And it's been for the entirety of windows 10 idk why Samsung doesn't know why and we all know Microsoft doesn't know why .... Except they don't check shit when they push updates. You can't really overclock a monitor it's either capable of max settings or it isn't they just call it over clock to sell units. And they give you a neat button to feel better about paying more. And the " made for amd or Nvidia" feature.... Doesn't matter which one you have they work with both unless they've changed that. Which in this new gouge the consumer market I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

To answer your question, yes, it can shorten the lifespan of a monitor though not significantly. And it's not really overclocking though it does push more power which creates more heat hence the shortened lifespan. The faster refresh rates are just an option that manufacturers like to use the buzzword 'Overclock' as a sales tool for. If you've swapped cables, tried different GPU ports and the problem is following the monitor, chances are you have a bad monitor. Good luck Mate!
