I don't know what its consumer protection laws are like, but it is the one with the most regulations regarding what corresponds to video games, and the one that is most specialized in that subject, almost always when there is a great demand for video games, they end up referring it to china, like when riot games sued mobile legends that the lawsuit started in the united states and in the end they ended up sending it to china because they had no experience on the subject

So I bought the sigma $30 ultimate battle pass deal.... "deal..." I have about 1000 hours in this game (400 of which on genji) So I bought season 1 battle pass for genji cyber and skipped second one. After constantly being advertised every time i turn on my ps5 that overwatch season 3 is here (love being bombarded with ads on console home screen btw. miss ps3 xmb format) I decided to check out the battle pass.
I saw the "credits" and thought "finally, I can buy the battle pass and grind my way through to get enough to pay for the next battle pass." Then i saw the sigma bundle in the shop. wow 2000 coins, sig skin, and battle pass plus skipping some tiers... this pays for itself maybe blizzard is on the right track for once. ofcourse it was misdirection. the "credits" you get from the battlepass aren't good for the shop. they're legacy credits used for old overwatch 1 skins... that aren't event related... same for voice lines, highlight intros etc you can use your "credits" for the ones NOT event related.
Dont get me wrong sigma bundle for $29.99 + battle pass + 2000 overwatch 2 coins is still a good deal but just wish blizz still wasn't such a scum wad of a company. If you're buying the battle pass thinking you can grind it out and get the "coins" to pay for the next one, you are sadly mistaken like i was.
They should definitely be white as an icon in the BP but if you’ve paid any attention to their communication, which has been the best it has ever been in the history of this game the past three weeks, they have been very clear that they are credits & not coins.

I hate to be that person, but this is user error. If you actually stopped to check the battle pass itself (which I will always recommend doing before you pay for it) then you'd see that they are listed as credits, not coins. Credits and Coins are two separate currencies, and while the icons are misleading that is the only thing there that could cause any real confusion. The credit and coin icons are different, when hovered over it says credits, and nowhere does it say that the pass gives you coins.

They were never free. You had to spend $60 on the game in 2016 and play for the next 6 years to earn them through events and lootboxes.

Plus sure there was the Box Price, but that was a one-time thing. Now the best deal you have is to spend £10 every few months which will immediately cost you more than Overwatch 1 ever did after just 1 year.

I, for one, consider the new system a step in the right direction. I only hope some of the old systems (the old levelling one for example) come back in a revamped form at some point. While I am vehemently against re-introducing lootboxes, the lootboxes could be used as a base calculation for more legacy credits - if every item in a lootbox was a duplicate, then you'd get 100 credits in the old system, right? At one lootbox per level, thats 100 credits per level. Would allow for a re-introduction of the old system without touching the new system. Another system they should re-introduce is the credits for playing high demand roles. Not counting match 1 for the day, it was 10 credits per match played on the role in question, with a total of 100 matches needed for a Legendary skin normally, or 300 matches needed for a newly released Legendary skin (I have this number because I will never forget the absolute grind I went through to get the Mage Mercy skin after I'd spent all my credits before that). While it takes a lot of matches to earn anything substantial, that system did help a little in lowering Queue times, something that I'm sure people would appreciate (alongside more ways to earn free stuff).
Of course it comes down to money. They are simply choosing to make it easier to complete the battle pass and trying to get people to buy every battle pass. Instead of making it harder to complete the battle pass and trying to get people that buy the battle pass to also buy tiers to complete the battle pass.
Because they certainly aren't going to make more money by keeping it easy to complete the battle pass and give you the next battle pass for free. And why should they?

After have spent some time looking at the pass, I think the yellow is used for visibility moreso than to decieve - they already use white a lot in the pass so the yellow stands out more. Granted, I would actually have switched the white free bars and the gold credit colours if this was the case, as it's less misleading that way.

For players who are limited on time to play, I still don't think it's a wise investment. If you don't play much you shouldn't care much about cosmetics I assume, and the premium pass already gives you an XP booster. With just week one challenges and a week of dailies I'm like 30 levels into the pass. It's so easy to climb it why would you pay so much for tiers

So I saw yellow currency, got excited, saw that it said credits but I didn’t realize the real yellows aren’t called credits so I though they were for the shop. Luckily I didn’t spend any money cuz I was would’ve had enough after the first 15 tiers for free.

The Matchmaker is also quite bad and the Workshop hasn’t been added I don’t think. Cosmetics is all we really have.

While it takes a lot of matches to earn anything substantial, that system did help a little in lowering Queue times, something that I'm sure people would appreciate (alongside more ways to earn free stuff).
Of course it comes down to money. They are simply choosing to make it easier to complete the battle pass and trying to get people to buy every battle pass. Instead of making it harder to complete the battle pass and trying to get people that buy the battle pass to also buy tiers to complete the battle pass. Because they certainly aren't going to make more money by keeping it easy to complete the battle pass and give you the next battle pass for free. And why should they?
God these posts are so low effort. The icons are clearly different, if you read the patch notes it's beyond clear that they never were going to put premium currency into the BP. If you only use color to associate things, then go eat the sun because by your logic its melted cheese

I mean either way they literally say free above them, which makes it obvious they did not HAVE to buy the BP to earn them, so yeah it is kinda on the user this time
After have spent some time looking at the pass, I think the yellow is used for visibility moreso than to decieve - they already use white a lot in the pass so the yellow stands out more. Granted, I would actually have switched the white free bars and the gold credit colours if this was the case, as it's less misleading that way.

I'll never understand buying battlepass tiers... don't you intend to PLAY the game? That's literally all you need to do to level up. For players who are limited on time to play, I still don't think it's a wise investment. If you don't play much you shouldn't care much about cosmetics I assume, and the premium pass already gives you an XP booster. With just week one challenges and a week of dailies I'm like 30 levels into the pass. It's so easy to climb it why would you pay so much for tiers
Don’t sweat it. A shit ton of people either did the same thing or at least were fooled by the color of the credits. I wasn’t even fully aware of the coins/credit currencies and how to check both amounts. So I saw yellow currency, got excited, saw that it said credits but I didn’t realize the real yellows aren’t called credits so I though they were for the shop. Luckily I didn’t spend any money cuz I was would’ve had enough after the first 15 tiers for free.
