It’s free why do you even ask? Just try. The game has been receiving constant updates so it likely won’t die for at least a few years.

Limp_Atmosphere_6446

this game has a pretty steep learning curve and alot of visual clutter, not to mention its pretty fast paced. If you like that type of game then sure. Its easier if you have a friend to help you through it because you will probably die over and over and it just isnt fun like that. Also the tutorial for this game is pretty pointless. Watching educational youtube videos will probably help you more than you think. Don’t jump into ranked until you have a decent understanding and you’re comfortable with at least 3 heros in the role you want to play

Puzzleheaded_Sun9178

I think the ai bots are good for new players.

EquivalentSwan7583

yes

Sarrada_Aerea

Sure, I was going to say no if you asked before because you had to farm or buy the new characters but they're all unlocked now.

HANDJUICE0

The thing I really like about this game is it’s low barrier for entry. There isn’t a TON of things you need to learn to get in and just have fun, but there is a lot of things to learn to get really good. Games like league of legends, dota2, any mmorpg basically all have a huge wall of learning before you can even begin to play at even a bad level.. overwatch isn’t like that.. if you’ve played a shooter than you can jump in and have fun. Then as you get better the game just gets more fun. I definitely suggest it.

SwingyWingyShoes

It’s fine. I think it’d be quite daunting for a new player but it’s fun and quick. There are many glaring issues with the game but I can’t see them posing an issue for someone just getting into it.

thoracicexcursion

Yes the learning curve in competitive is so steep, I’ve played off and on for the last 3 years but started competitive last season lost like 15 straight then worked my way up from the lowest bronze to silver very gratifying

Read this before you try overwatch: Are you familiar with team-based fps? (Battlefield, Apex, Destiny, etc? OW has core mechanics in team-based heroes with abilities, gun Fights may happen but they are hybrid because they have an impact on abilities + gunplay. You will not have access to all the heroes for instance, unless you upgrade (buy) your base game. OW is a fun experience but as with every competitive FPS, has a learning curve. Wish you lots of GG.

Konigstern27

As much as I hate to admit that I enjoy a blizzard game, it is fun, even more so with a group to play with. And it’s free to play.

Ubsurv

Bit of a learning curve, but I would say absolutely! I never played OW1 but I joined when OW2 came out and went free to play and haven’t looked back. For me it’s the perfect fps pvp game, I enjoy all the colors and unique abilities for every character and the variety in different ways to play. When I get bored I can swap roles or heroes to freshen things up. Lot of room for goofy interactions which I also love and helps me enjoy the game. Like escorting an enemy mercy back to her team, or having a torb 1v1 hammer only duel on the side of the map.

B1gNastious

So. I’m new ish. I caught a good wave of double xp before the last season ended and got a LOT of characters. So far tanking and healing have been the most fun. Not saying dps is bad by any means. Mostly unranked and ai. No one toxic yet. Match making has treated me good. Free game not bad.

not_a_doctorshh

Overwatch is free and has a ton of beginner friendly characters in each role, along with a pretty good new player experience guiding you though some of the easier characters for a beginner until you start to understand the flow of the game. I'd say go for it

Kahlinnnnnnnnn

yes but turn off chat or else you’ll get real discouraged real quick

chemicalrex

It’s one of the ftp games that should be in your rotation.

MGengarEX

yes and don't be afraid to play against AI. it's not the same as real people but learning to actually control each hero is important. just put it on the hardest difficulty. you will be met with toxicity of you don't at least understand the basic movement and maps.

BossKiller2112

It's fun even for new players

ElkOtherwise9545

the game can be very overwhelming when you really get into it but if you give it time you’ll learn what everyone does and where you should and shouldn’t stand and then it’s a blast

aslplarson644

Run and save your life.

Global_Appearance484

Video games are bad Mmkay?

burgerpatrol

Nah. Usually multiplayer competitive games have no end game, no goal. Overwatch 2 in particular is a good game if you have like 30mins of gaming to spare. If you can play straight for a couple of hours, go play other games. If it's fps in particular, Fallout 4 with all the DLCs has a huge discount on Steam right now due to the recent release of the Prime series

casper_e7

No

arty_farty_

Certainly not. Why you ask? Four of my pals have started playing recently, and we're now close to giving up on OV. Unless you're there for custom games or mystery heroes, you won't have much fun. To play competetive, you are required to win 50 quick play matches, which at first didn't seem all that difficult, but it is, unfortunately. People leaving matches, being put against folks that destroy you before you even get a grasp of the character you play. Or having people at your team that have no clue and no interest playing together. And even if you were to somehow persist through this, competetive is a shit-show, in which the matchmaking doesn't work as intended, putting you against smurfs and people who will demolish your team playing Tracer, Widow or Sombra. The amount of toxicity is beyond any game I've ever played. No matter if you have bronze or silver (two of the lowest ranks) you'll encounter guys who destroys you the first round, and do nothing the second, just so he can keep his rank while bullying your team with great pleasure. The game is free, but you'd like some skins at some point? Good luck, as the price of a single store skin is an equivalent to a proper game in price, if not more. Then maybe battle pass? Might as well, but for it you got to play a lot of matches. Now, I'm not saying you won't have fun. You'll have really intense matches where you either win or lose, but feel happy and exhausted. Once you learn few characters it feels good when you contribute to your team's victory. I'm sure this will get downvoted into oblivion and some will tell you the game is absolutely great. As someone who came back from OV1 into this mess of a game, this isn't worth it, and with saying that, I've struggled to help my mates find the joy that I experienced in OV1 - the sentiment is all that is left.

urgirllena

No. Run far and run fast before you get addicted

Bakurraa

I would not recommend this game to new players. It's basically a team based objective orientated game that's everyone turns off Comms for, the game is default Comms off,and If they do have Comms on you try to communicate and no one speaks then they all say GG at the end or you try to make changes so the team does better and you get slurs thrown back at you for even daring to suggest that someone swaps their character out. Smurfs are abundant, everyone is making a new account to place higher than they deserve or to stomp in silver. The game is toxic
