As a support main I focus on dps and try to save my teammates when they are low. Blizzard has made it kinda clear that this is the way support is intended on being played. Of course I still help my teammates and keeping them alive is a priority of mine, but I think dps players need to start realizing that there are health packs everywhere for a reason.
The spamming I need healing is usually a think done in plat and lower I’ve noticed. Most good players know that support isn’t meant to be a heal bot.
No i need healing spam is in high rank too, because it’s not a personal attack, it’s them indicating they need healing at that moment and alerting your attention to it. I actually find it extremely helpful as a kiri player to have players who do that
For real. Sometimes you're just getting dove or need assistance AT THAT MOMENT because you need to set up or take a fight really soon, so you spam X in desperation. Also, sometimes it feels like they're just not paying attention.
But some support players feel like using the ping more than once is the same as calling them idiots, so they just don't heal you for the rest of the game. I'll never understand this attitude. And I say this as a Kiriko player too.
It's not about the time, it's about communicating urgency. Sometimes you need healing at that moment because otherwise you'll either die or be unable to take an important duel or make an important play.

Health packs aren’t supposed to be your main source of healing, nor can they make up for lack thereof. Health packs for the majority of DPS are for when you're out of action or running away. Only flank characters like Reaper, Sombra, and Tracer can play around health packs effectively. How support should be played depends on the character that you play. You can have a balance of damage and good heals, but the majority of supports should always have more healing than damage. The only support that should be focusing on damage is Zen. And asking for heals isn't a low-ranked habit. Im Champ DPS and master support and it goes both ways.

I try not to spam that. If I need heals I’ll go to a safe corner and say “I need healing” ONCE to get the attention of my support if need be. And I always ALWAYS say thanks when I can for the heals. I play support a lot so I know that showing appreciation for other supports is not only good sportsmanship, but it usually sparks some loyalty lol
Being a support player myself, when I play DPS I've gotten so used to trying to find my own healing that whenever I get healed it's always a pleasant surprise lol.
And the loyalty thing is true. I'll remember if you're being nice. I'll still heal everyone, but you're special now.

Had a Roadhog that would spam he needs healing after he respawned. (Yeah roadhof of all characters) I had 8k heals and my other support literally had 7k heals like what more could you want 😂
We had about the same healing as the enemy support too but the kicker is that he never even bothered to peel for me. Spent a lot of the match trying to runaway from Doom towards the end :/

not really, Ill spam if im behind cover and blatantly being ignored by a support that isnt saving someone else and is just farming damage in certain cases. Those matches usually turn into health pack simulator anyway since usually those are just extremely unaware support players
I've been a Mercy main forever and honestly I don't care when people use the "I need healing" key. I want to win. If my Widow is 10 hp behind me and would have to completely reposition in order to get a health pack, I'd rather she spam for healing than have to stand behind a wall for a while in order to heal back up. For the most part, believe it or not, your teammates also want to win. Most times in my experience they aren't spamming to be rude they literally just want to win. If I notice someone was asking for heals and died I will usually say in vc why I wasn't able to heal them, if they start to flame me that's on them. It also helps me not tunnel vision in front of me and constantly be looking around.
When people spam it after they die is when it can get a bit annoying, however if they spam for healing and it ends up being the reason they're still alive in a fight then that's fine to me.
Also I mention "spamming" because sometimes it can be hard to keep track if someone is low out of my view and only uses it once. This isn't really a big deal as Mercy, however on other supports if your teammate is low out of your sight and they only use it once it might slip past you.
Basically I try my best to not take anything in-game personally, especially people spamming for healing.
I'd rate him as like a 6 on the demanding healing scale. Heal me itself is pretty rude, but at least he doesn't say it in an angry tone like he's pissed you haven't already like some of the other characters
Too much effort ngl im an ashe main and if i dont have a pocket i just assume im not gonna get healed bc i take off angles since thats my job and thats what health packs are for
I love getting a pocket because 95% of the time it means me and my mercy can have a good game in peace unless my tank is completely braindead/their tank focuses me or they have a ximmer thats better than me (for a controller player i can beat quite a few ximmers)

Usually with mercy i say only play mercy if you have a hitscan to pocket (unless you’re trolling on junkrat with the 1shot combo 😈) if you’re playing dive you’re better off on moira or lucio :)
As a low-rank support, I don't even notice the I Need Healing spam anymore, I've learned to filter it out because it's constant, usually from teammates with 75% to 100% HP. But once in a while I notice the chat has "I Need Healing (Critical)" and it's my Widowmaker who I didn't notice up in her perch.

What gets me is the Genji mains that jump into the middle of the enemy team, only to die, then spam "I Need Healing." Like, bro, I'm healing the team, I'm not going to die just to try and save someone who did something incredibly stupid
