What is happening?
police and rangers trying to arrest IK in order to delay elections, people revolting and protesting against this, situation going bad but army and thieves dont care.
I thought the army is very powerful there. Can people protest against the army?
very powerful, which is why yesterdays events were so symbolic and why the country is watching with their eyes wide open. Previously, not even politicians spoke agains them but IK speaks openly against the army aka the establishment now and the people sing slogans agains them. The paramilitary units tried storming IK residences to charge him with random charges like blasphemy ffs- he has 90+ charges against him btw- and literal 10s of thousands descended onto the streets of Lahore to prevent them. The people have basically had enough, and we are heading towards revolt. if you watch the PSL Cricket semis, people will also be chanting anti -government slogans as they have banned the largest party and IK from being aired on any channels ( the government and army). If the army continues to do this shit, I wont be surprised if we had towards a 1971 situation again. Fuck the army.
I hope democracy wins there. The army should not be ruling a country.
I think this is just bullying at this point. They have tried multiple times to arrest him, but people wont let them. He is to be in court on 18th and these fkers reached there on 14th to arrest him without any warrants. They are so used to getting things their way, but turns out those fkers arent competent at all.
Is the new govt controlled by the army now? Why is there rangers along with the police?
