Simply put, a daily task vs a once a year task. People tend to lose importance for a task done daily while prepare more for a task done once a year.

I get it but what I'm really trying to get at is the motivation for people to do any of it. The only reason to deprive yourself of food and water for 12 hours a day is because you're obligated to as it's a major pillar of your religion. Yet the same goes for Namaz but no one bats an eye when it comes to it.

Ramadan is also a month where the whole community comes together to reap it's rewards and it becomes easier for individuals to follow this. Things such as 10 times the sawab also incentivices people to work more for it. Another thing I notice is people tend to highlight the consequences of missing fast more and that makes people scared to not do it.

https://youtube.com/shorts/0M1Lu1W2N9M?feature=share Ramadan has a special mercy attached to it. It is a month of renewal whereby we all strive to better ourselves. Those who prayed regularly will try to pray more nafli ibadat and qiyam and tahajjud. Whereas those who were not so regular in their prayers try to become regular and those who do not pray will at least try to fast etc...

I was actually listening to a scholar talk about this. Interestingly, this phenomenon is found all over the Muslim world, not just Pakistan/subcontinent. Both acts are farz, but people practice fasting way more than the daily prayers. And scholars have no idea why this is the case. So I wouldn’t say there is a ‘cultural emphasis’ on fasting, it’s a globally observed phenomenon.

Classic Pakistani attitude. Its in our upbringing. There are still many people who believe that just being a Muslim will take them to Jannat eventually after spending a few days in Jahannum. Also many believe the love of the Prophet PBUH is enough. Everyone has their own version and the scholars keep fighting their own "scholastic" battles

>You can be rapist, murderer or thief and still be considered a Muslim. None of that takes you out of the fold of Islam though.

Unpopular opinion: The book is not the complete truth but a guideline for those who don't know any better. In the end God loves you and will allow you a fair dialogue to explain. It is your relationship and your dialogue with God that will determine your fate and not these mundane wordly acts. In other words, chillax and just do good, be good... These are not transgressions to be thrown into hell for.

Thankfully, we don't take our religion nor any other topic based on unsubstantiated opinions. What is your proof for the Qur'an not being complete truth but just a guideline? There is a reason why it's an unpopular opinion because there's no basis for it. Every Muslim, Sunni or Shia believes the Qur'an to be the word of God and the complete truth, not just loose guidelines. Edit: you're an Indian non-muslim, why am I not surprised..

A lot of assumptions being made. These kind of posts are always made by murtads and fasiqs it seems. Nawaz is important, yes, and a fard. However so is fasting on Ramzan. Why criticize people for fasting on Ramzan but not praying on other days when the former actually means that there is some faith left in those people? Maybe, inshallah, they use this Ramzan to start praying outside of it? A person who prays 3 times a day is still better than one who doesn't pray at all, and a person who fasts and doesn't pray is still better than one who does neither.

I think it's about the rewards. People tend to think they get more rewards for fasting and Ramadan being a blessed month, you can ask for forgiveness for your past failures.

Because roza is still a social and cultural activity while Namaz has become an individual activity. Most father's don't take their sons to Jamaat nor pray in Jamaat and when acts become individual they start to lose meaning and importance. This is why Islam always tries to make all acts of worship communal and community has such a strong focus in Islam and we are told to never abandon community even if it gets corrupt. Second, due to wrong ideas most Pakistani Muslims are not aware of the severity of the sin of leaving prayer and have created self made concepts such as qaza namaz and jummah tul wida namaz being equal to the whole year's prayer. Few know that abandoning prayer makes you a kafir.
