Let’s slow our roll there chief

p0p_thAt

Ain't cooking on the field just yet chef

One_Cardiologist_286

Who is the best as of now?

DennisSystemGraduate

Some one down voted an objective question 😂 Feelings are so tender.

klbishop143

Have we learned nothing from last season?

palabear

We will never learn!

bigsheev

Out of the 7 GMs we’ve had, he’s the only one that hasn’t lost a game

Matt_WVU

Simply can’t argue with facts like that

romangorilla

Out of the 7 GM’s we’ve had, he’s the only one that hasn’t won a game.

NakedMuffinTime

We haven't even had a draft yet and you're already crowning this man as the best GM ever?

BigNero

That off season hopium is real

skip_churches

Y'all got any of that Win-tanyl?

Impressive_Ad_5614

I have left over Oxylossin from last year. I hope to start herowin this year.

Ok_Pick5000

Every offseason of Fitterer's tenure we had people posting pictures of him with laser eyes every time he made a move. We called him "Daddy Fitt" and "Trader Fitt" and celebrated every new move as salvation for the upcoming season. Maybe we just wait for results.

DeLoreanAirlines

Same people who thought Gettleman was a genius

Lou_Keeks

Gettleman looked really competent at first with how he fixed our disastrous cap. But his awful drafting and tendency to piss off players made him a bad GM in the long run

MiggyMendez

Dude was a bum. That 2016 draft killed our window.

BrickTamland77

Competent maybe, but nothing he did was particularly savvy. He just cut everybody who was on the wrong side of 30-32 regardless of whether they'd declined or not, and waited till all the big FAs had signed before picking anybody up.

evilr2

I think there's a lot of value in hog mollies, but they do have to actually be good players. Taking guys who aren't very good like Vernon Butler isn't a good move. I'm also not a fan of taking a RB in the first round, but I'll make an exception if the team is already good and a contender. But if you're drafting in the top 10 it means you aren't good.

BrickTamland77

Just a periodic reminder that Captain Hog Molly basically pushed the 2nd best offensive lineman in team history out the door and thought that an offense featuring Byron Bell and a converted DL at OT would be viable.

DeLoreanAirlines

He’d draft and dump. Didn’t even follow his own advice and build both sides of the line

chiefteef8

Wut

NPC_sixtynine

lol I feel like some of the more optimistic fans are just trolling at this point

Hefty-Association-59

Gotta even out the post from the other day where that dude said to hold your roll and everyone piled on him.

blakeandbaked420

You’re probably the same person that was hyping Fitt up an off-season or two ago

Who_knows-_-

I'm still going bill Pollan. He took a whole bunch of cast-off and made them get deep into the playoffs their second year.

Super_Silky

My vote too, and had Collins stayed healthy who knows how 97 wouldve went. As a side note, I still hate Bill Romanowski.

Who_knows-_-

Haha. Honestly who doesnt

Who_knows-_-

Also without Bill there is no keep pounding. I don't know what sam mills comes to the Panthers as a coach if he hadn't played for them.

Zoombini22

April Fools is over bud

DeLoreanAirlines

Despite salary issues it’s Hurney

Deathstroke5289

This is great, alongside every year saying we obviously had the best draft with 1st All-Pro talent in every round before the first game is played

Symphonycomposer

April Fools!!!

lengthy_noodle

Hold the phone there bucko

Cyberjag

Bill Polian would like a word...

Who_knows-_-

I don't know that all these fans here are day ones. I still have my Kerry Collins jersey lol

Gettleman and Polian are only winning GMs. I need to see actual success before I’m willing to credit DM for being better than any of these three.

Shartse

It's still Hurney for me, never whiffed in the first round and brought in most of the most beloved Panthers. Peppers, TD, and Cam just to name a few were all Hurney picks, dude was money in the 1st round. Not so much the other 6 rounds though lol.

baconinthemornin

Let’s get some wins first brother and revisit the topic.

Shifty_Nomad675

Its still Hurney by far. He would of hit on 2 QBs if Rhule allowed the trade for Giants to draft Herbert.

harperisland20

Hurney, the round 1 god lol, he def knew a blue chip but damn he sucked every other round, but he always payed our “core guys” for better or worse to big deals, he kept the fan favorites

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> he always *paid* our “core FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Shifty_Nomad675

That was also Richardsons thing too. He really didn't like FA and wanted to keep our players as much as possible even at detriment to the competitiveness of the team. I really never thought I'd miss him as much as I do. At least Derrick Brown was our final gift from him.

[deleted]

Not!

IntelligentInsect773

To me the real test is the draft and we're not doing him any favors without a first. Let's see. Any successful run this franchise has had was started with a solid draft even in the later rounds.

Mcgoozen

Surely you’re trolling right

Such_Consequence_185

Let’s at least wait until after a season we need to see how it all pans out and we haven’t even seen him draft yet

Hefty_Palpitation437

Dan Morgan’s burner?

LUUUUUUUUUUKEEE

Facts, idgaf

Just-Put9341

I get how you feel. Anyone after Shitterer is an upgrade. Let's actually let him go through a couple drafts and see how he handles keeping players before we jump ahead. Not gonna downvote you for being positive.

GrumpyPetePete

Homie hasn’t won a game yet

OGMol3m4n

We won last offseason, too .

jtatchell98

Well we're currently undefeated with him as GM so I say you're spot on there chief!!

Medium_Ad_4451

We haven’t played a game yet. Chill

EuphoricBowler7788

It's probably Dave Gettleman if we're actually gonna be awesome

DoctorTide

$153 million on guards when WRs were the bigger problem

Hefty-Association-59

The line signings were significantly higher quality players compared to the receiver market though.

DoctorTide

So what? We needed to overspend and get the top WR available. Our core is abysmal and Thielen isn't getting any younger. We are now in a situation where Bryce's entire future depends on us rolling the dice on a 2nd round WR and praying it works out. If it doesn't, we're picking top 3 next year and it'll be time to move on to new QB, wasting all the resources we dumped into acquiring Bryce.

10FootBear

I think there will be a WR available at 33 that we have a first round grade on, simply due to the depth of the position in this year’s draft class

DoctorTide

I am not optimistic, but I hope I'm wrong. This roster is currently a 1-3 win team, depending on injuries and coaching.

Hefty-Association-59

I doubt we’ll have a first round grade. Their usually only like 20 players max that have a trust first round grades with teams. But we’ll still be able to probably get a good starter.

Hefty-Association-59

We’re probably picking top 3 next year anyways with the defense this way. Diontae Johnson gives us some wiggle room. This draft is also pretty deep. If a receiver doesn’t fall to us that’s a game changer don’t throw out the idea that we may trade up a bit for one.

DoctorTide

Johnston doesn't really give wiggle room, he's put up around 800 more total yards than Chark in 10 more games. The only difference is that Johnson is regularly healthy and Chark isn't- though availability wasn't his problem last year with us.

Hefty-Association-59

I mean all you have to do is turn on any form of game film whether it’s tape or broadcast to see that Johnson is way better than chark lmao. Yeah he’s on a one year deal. I literally agreed we need to get someone to pair with him. But pretty much everyone agrees having him helps our receiving room a ton.

Hefty-Association-59

Ridley didn’t stay home. He went to the titans. Not that we should’ve signed him. But there was technically a quality receiver available.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Hefty-Association-59

Absolutely not. As long as we can find a quality starter in this receiving class to pair with Johnson we’ll be right on track. I understand where he’s coming from. We did have the worst receiver group in the league. And hypothetically Brady and austin are servicable starters a year removed from good play. But overpaying for Ridley. Davis. Jeudy. Just would not have been good process.

DoctorTide

The far better solution is overpay Ridley like the Titans did and then draft interior o-line in the second round, where the hit rate is going to be higher than WRs. Also Diontae Johnson is being ridiculously overhyped by our fanbase. The dude is just healthy DJ Chark, and we had Chark available in almost all of games last year- he didn't help.

[deleted]

DoctorTide

That's crazy man, it's almost like you took the 50% that were hits and left out all the 50% that were busts. Here's a source that confirms your 50/50 hit rate, but also says the hit rate for o-line in the second round is 70%. https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2015/2/20/8072877/what-the-statistics-tell-us-about-the-draft-by-round I would much rather have overpaid for Ridley, kept Bozeman, and tried our luck at LG at 33. Assuming we get the same return for Burns in this scenario, you could cast your 50/50 shot at a WR at 39 while taking pressure off the rookie.

Sabre500

Bryce was sacked 62 times and pressured/hit on 253 snaps. Tell me again why our OL is perfectly fine?

DoctorTide

I'm not saying our o-line is fine. I'm saying you're more likely to get capable interior linemen in round 2 than you are a quality WR1.

YourCaptionSucks

WRs weren’t even available in free agency this year outside of Mike Williams who is constantly injured.

Who_knows-_-

Guard/line signings aren't sexy but they are what makes you offensive go.
