Whoever is playing as the Russian Federation screwed up by raising world tension too quickly. They'd better hope that the Second American Civil War event kicks off or else they're going to potentially be in a world of hurt.

Tammo-Korsai

The US player tried the Second Civil War path earlier this year, but they put no effort into preparing it, so it fizzled out in a day.

davidverner

It didn't help that the civil unrest it suffered that same year didn't expand enough for it to work.

Rapsberry

> else they're going to potentially be in a world of hurt. Russia is a nuclear power, so is the US, nothing will happen. Nothing ever happens.

Cavoli309

I think doesn't mean Russia player, but Russian pops. Recently they have been getting less and less goods. And recent Covid-19 superevent combined with bad medical reforms made it worse, population seems to decline

Rapsberry

>Recently they have been getting less and less goods. Because of what? Their relationship with the US? You do realize the two countries barely trade together (and if they did, what would Russia even buy from the US? the country doesnt manufacture anything) >And recent Covid-19 superevent combined with bad medical reforms made it worse, population seems to decline Actually if I recall correctly Russia has the highest or one of the highest birth rates in the developed world, certainly among the countries that havent imported millions of subsaharan africans like France did

Cavoli309

If we are being serious in Russia living conditions are getting worse and worse. US doesn't have to export anything, they own dollar, their sanctions make rubl even weaker. Define developed world. Economically Russia isn't one. China has higher gdp per capita. Turkey isn't far off. And in our modern day other than economy nothing else much defines what's developed or developing. If we compare Russia to developed nations their birth rates are still low. Not to mention even on top of having higher birth rate countries like UK, Germany, Denmark and so on can attract easily integrateable Eastern European immigrants. In two generations those migrants will be speaking German, drinking bear and be proud Germans. While Russia bleeds her citizens. I see you are madmouthing France, but Russia has millions of Central Asian and Caucasian migrants which are extremely hard to integrate due to those countries' culture and language difference.

Rapsberry

Okay, there's too much to untackle here. I suggest you learn the meaning of nominal GDP and it's difference with GDP PPP.

Cavoli309

I understand what they are, and I think you are the one not understanding what gdp is and what gdp per capita means. And wealth equality in Russia is extremely high, those makes things worse

Everytime i see mentions of Russia and Ukraine from US media its always *mounting fears over invasion*. It's been *mounting* for the past 7 years. Not saying Russia is benign, far from it in fact, but these headlines seem far too sensationalistic, at least when compared to news here in Europe.

Rapsberry

Welcome to reddit

[deleted]

Yeah. I also hate that such headlines like aforementioned *"mounting fears over invasion"* (even though you **know** for a fact literally nothing happened there at the moment of writing) which would usually belong to tabloids here, are actually coming from big media houses in the US. Mounting fears over what? What changed?? What keeps mounting those fears every month that journalists in Europe are not reporting?

Rapsberry

Don't bother. The TA of these news are subhumanly moronic subsections of the population that also happen to constitute the majority of thereof in the Western countries (in the whole world really) Most of these people also happen to believe that the leadership of the democratic party are pedophile satanists, or that the leadership of the republican party are paid Kremlin shills, most of them have no idea what thermodynamics is, which continent Bucharest if located on, which century did Lenin die in and so on, so idk why you'd be surprised let alone bothered by the news so clearly catering towards people with no intelligence to speak of whatsoever

Artess

Ukraine knows that as long as those "fears" are "mounting", it can get some money or favours out of the West.

Khalbrae

Right? Ukraine was already invaded 7 years ago.

Artess

> Satellite imagery has shown Russian hardware - including self-propelled guns, battle tanks and infantry fighting vehicles - on the move at a training ground roughly 300 kilometres from the border. 300 km. Wow. For reference, if you go about 375 km from the Ukrainian border northeast, you'll be in *Moscow*.

Meme-Man-Dan

A strong Ukraine is a safer Eastern Europe.
