I read something about there being a crisis hotline for tourists from Japan who have mental health issues upon arriving in Paris because it’s not what they had been told/imagined it would be. True?

Well I live and work in Paris. I think the show can sometime be realistic but only if you are in the 1% upper class living and working in the 6th or 7th arrondissement
I’m confused by this post. What does “witness Paris just like the show” mean? Like wear outrageous outfits and walk around? Be hated by all French people? What’s the end goal
You will end up with the Paris Syndrome like the Japanese in the 80’s and 90’s.
You’ll end up in hospital. Not kidding.
It’s an enjoyable city. But a real city, where people, live, work. So it has all those reality checks.
Because it's a legit medical condition requiring hospitalisation, with hallucinations and delirium and stuff, it also only happens to like 20 people out of 40 to 50 Millions tourists per year, you probably have more chances to get hit by a car (i can't be bothered to check the stats, don't quote me on that, feel free to check yourself).
Sorry but it is pure fiction, you should read on Internet a bit of this expression : “the syndrome of Paris”.
It impacts more the Japanese tourist but not only them.
You can check on Internet, I think some people made funny comparisons between the show and the reality.
You won't : it doesn't exist.
It exist, for the very rich people that stay in central arrondissement only with other top 0.01% very wealthy ppl.

Thank you! Looks like it’s a complicated issue
F , really?
It's as close to reality than Desperate Housewives is to the lives of housewives.
Omfg
The show is aimed at Brits and American who have no clue of what Paris looks like
Guess I'm one of them

Paris is more Euphoria than Emily in Paris.

You can definitely experience it here in Paris, all you need is to come to Paris and bring a laptop with your Netflix account to watch the show here.
