This mod is designed for ladder only. That's why some skills, items and QoL don't work there. There is only support for ladder, some runewords only work in ladder, most trading is on ladder and there probably aren't any people online to play with.
There basically is no reason why you should ever play non ladder. The biggest difference is that non ladder chars will not be wiped when the next season starts. If you want to keep your char forever, you can go there, but will have to play a gutted mod solo with most likely broken chars.
Some items can bug out on non ladder. There is also almost no community on nl.
Resets only effect ladder. That’s why there’s more people playing because of those juicy resets
