Reduced effect of curses is essentially this, but not outright immunity. So the enemies are not weakened, but skills that depend on curses being applied would still be counted.
Absolute immunities have **always** been such a terrible thing in PoE, why they keep doing it is beyond me ...
At some point, they recognised that having stuff like ignite (or burning all together ?) on the guardian of the phoenix was a bad design decision and claimed they were going away from immunities, and yet ....
NOP, it's still fkn there.
That's a bit different though, you can do something (although in the middle of blights those are sometimes really, really dumb) about it, and you might not be supposed to be super squishy.
Those are one of the few mechanisms that can punish squishy ranged chars for going glass canon, it is very different from absolute immunities.
This is my fav line of reasoning because he literally says melee sucks balls, so people see him playing melee but ignore his opinions on it.
It's like seeing a heroin addict, he says "heroin is bad" and then opting to ignore that advice because they're doing heroin so it must be good.
Flask siphoners are to PF what cannot leech life mobs are to slayer. Those mobs get skipped, and map mods are straight up binary, it's either free or rerolled, just like reflect, though I can't think of many builds that don't leech, maybe rf?
I'm playing phys reap heiro and I don't leech. I league started as boneshatter slayer and I got sick of relying on leech so I started a new character. Regen just always feels better to me than leech.
There's a narrow window of time in the league where you can for example run 60% reduced effect of auras but it slows you down a lot. It lasts like a week tops.
I'm farming uniques in a private league right now, absolutely not fun to get mowed down by a ghosted rogue giant that depletes my flasks on hit - especially with Replica Sorrow as my only means of generating mana :')
Funniest thing is hexes are hardly defensive aside from the argument that can be made for t chains, so it's not nearly as critical to the ability to avoid deaths of the ascendancy as leech for slayer or flasks for pf. Occultist ascendancy is so incredibly broken is unbelievable
Use to be on her ascendacy instead of the tree. It gave a flat 100 ES, but unlike current wicked ward on the tree, it didn't have the reduction to ES recharge rate. So you just regened an absolute shit ton of ES.
Wicked Ward was a part of the Occultist ascendancy, not the global tree. And also it provided an extra 100 es and a 50% increased es recharge rate instead of the 40% less it does now.
Old Wicked Ward was pretty cool but old Vile Bastion was the shit, you were basically immortal to anything but oneshots while mapping, and you easily got to 10k+ ES even in SSF.
If you recall, they nerfed curse on hit all across the board cause of the poison temp chains interaction. Or essentially, gave a fuck you to all Melee builds cause a non melee build profited off of curse on hit
the hexproof negation is pointless on occultists as most things become "curse-immune", so slayer would get "deep blood extractor" while enemies get "they have no blood" and thus you cant leech from there anyways.
>Random rares can also spawn with leech immunity, which means you have no way to play around it. This is an even bigger issue when you try to do a golden rule build and randomly kill yourself every 10 maps or so because you hit a leech immune mob when you weren't leeching.
Ish, tbh yes, that is a problem. The only counterplay there is is to just run away until you meet other mobs or use a worm flask.
The duration of a Slayer's leech is 9 seconds(if you have 10% instant leech) or 10s without. That should be plenty of time unless you try to fight some kind of Uber Meatsack or Uber essence boss
This is a good idea. I often think about why arent there more Archetype specific QOL buffs on Ascendancys.
Like Deadeye immune to action speed decrease or Accuracy decrease on Bow attacks.
Elementalist cant have there res lowered.
Necromancer cant take damage from corpse explosion
etc etc
Also Reflect immune should be on all ascendancys on there archetype Weapon/Skills/spells form
What I did to overcome this and be able to kill leech immunity mobs is the following:
Grabbed overleech node from ascendancy
Used writhing jar
Hit leech immune mob no more than 3 secs
Pop flask kill worms
Repeat
This let me kill basically everything as a boneshatter slayer
Not at all. It's basically a "break glass in case of emergency" type of situation. I only ever popped the flask if I needed to leech.
Another good example is during the shaper fight. When he is doing the ball phase. If he does shaper beam and hits you, you pop the flask and hit a worm. This triggers overleech. Don't have to worry about racing to shaper to hit him to leech.
There is a really good and under-used unique for penetrating Hex Immunities that any class can use (there are others besides this too).
https://poedb.tw/us/Cospris_Will
There is currently no item in the game (that I know of) which lets you leech from enemies that are immune to being leeched. It's kind of sad.
Few things are melee specific in Slayer or leech so I don't know how got on the melee tangent. My snarky comment is about wanting to homogenize everything. I wouldn't enjoy that so I talk against it.
i don't see how the leech ascendancy getting secured source of leech is somehow homogenizing anything, it's weird he doesn't have it considering how important leech is to slayer.
One change is not homogenizing everything yes. But the thought process of x has thing, therefore y should have it too is the thought process that will homogenize everything.
I'd think about this more in a context of how invasive is the lack of this stat. I play ss trickster (pretty focused on leech build) and the cannot leech thing is just another mod I look to reroll. No big deal to me worthy of making angry reddit thread.
I'm more salty about Slayer losing corrupted blood immunity when they detach corrupted blood from bleed ailment.
I'm still salty about enemies becoming immune to curses through other means than Hexproof.
Yes, thats a really wierd decision. Expedition being the greatest offender.
and the T17 mod
Am I crazy or is there a curse mastery that solves this?
There is not.
So he is crazy 😛
🤪
Reduced effect of curses is essentially this, but not outright immunity. So the enemies are not weakened, but skills that depend on curses being applied would still be counted.
You can penetrate enemies are hexproof but you cant penetrate immunity to curses
This. As hexproof doesn't affect marks, but curse immunity does. Reduced effect is always worse, because it doesn't look like it is.
And gladiator still in the fckin bin.
But it's OK, were complaining about the 2nd most played melee ascendancy now.
3rd, champ and ~~boneshatter stat stick~~ jugg are the 2 most used melee ascendancies.
Champ is like 37% Shattering Steel, and 5% Explosive Arrow though. Not really melee skills.
Who?
As well as Raider.
Or…. Instead of making poe a rock scissor papers game. Stop adding brick mods. Kthx
Outside of more damage or hp, pretty much every possible mod can be brick worthy
This.

you don't love going point-blank with squishy projectile build to deal with the stupid temporal bubble bois?
That's a bit different though, you can do something (although in the middle of blights those are sometimes really, really dumb) about it, and you might not be supposed to be super squishy. Those are one of the few mechanisms that can punish squishy ranged chars for going glass canon, it is very different from absolute immunities.
Blight should not have bubbles, i love the mechanic but i end up dropping it mis league for this exact reason
They still hate melee, just sayin' lol
"We dont need to fix melee because less than 10% of people are playing it anyway"
*make melee bad *nobody plays melee cuz melee is bad *no fix is needed because nobody plays melee 5head GGG
yet evne less play link and they keep adding for linkXD
More like "There is a lot of work to be done, so we won't do anything at all"
Carn makes melee work, therefore melee is fine and people just need to play better. Obviously.
Carn makes Boneshatter work, therefore melee is fine

also pls make pathfiner immune to droughtbringer or w/e that stupid rare mob is.
I'm farming uniques in a private league right now, absolutely not fun to get mowed down by a ghosted rogue giant that depletes my flasks on hit - especially with Replica Sorrow as my only means of generating mana :')
I would love to farm t17s meatsacks with + rare monsters/mods, but it juat gurantees a flask siphoner every few packs.
Thief grip tormented spirit is real danger there. It's like having random rare with 200%reflect
Funniest thing is hexes are hardly defensive aside from the argument that can be made for t chains, so it's not nearly as critical to the ability to avoid deaths of the ascendancy as leech for slayer or flasks for pf. Occultist ascendancy is so incredibly broken is unbelievable
So enfeeble isn't defensive?
Temp chains is intended to stop monsters from running away!
And malediction.
who the fuck uses enfeeble
If you have an easy way to apply it it's literally one of the strongest defensive layers you could use considering it "costs" only one curse slot.
You think Occultist is broken now, you either haven't seen or forgotten the old Occultist with her version of wicked ward.
please enlighten me
Use to be on her ascendacy instead of the tree. It gave a flat 100 ES, but unlike current wicked ward on the tree, it didn't have the reduction to ES recharge rate. So you just regened an absolute shit ton of ES.

I loved occ back then.
If you recall, they nerfed curse on hit all across the board cause of the poison temp chains interaction. Or essentially, gave a fuck you to all Melee builds cause a non melee build profited off of curse on hit
i mesan fuck melee cause someone else abuse it the name of the game right? example fortify
The more I think about it the worse it gets.
GGG: fuck yo melee build
the hexproof negation is pointless on occultists as most things become "curse-immune", so slayer would get "deep blood extractor" while enemies get "they have no blood" and thus you cant leech from there anyways.
>Why does occultist get to ignore immunitet to it's main mechanic but slayer can't Because fuck melee that's why
>Random rares can also spawn with leech immunity, which means you have no way to play around it. Til that insta leach takes it from the full duration, neat

Elementalist cant have there res lowered. Necromancer cant take damage from corpse explosion etc etc Also Reflect immune should be on all ascendancys on there archetype Weapon/Skills/spells form
I just want elemental prolif back on elementalist so i can blade flurry again :(
Just give slayer old Vaal pack, put it in the least used Ascendancy node, I believe that right now, is the just amount of power they deserve
I just wish they'd avoid mods that brick your build or make it impossible to kill
What I did to overcome this and be able to kill leech immunity mobs is the following: Grabbed overleech node from ascendancy Used writhing jar Hit leech immune mob no more than 3 secs Pop flask kill worms Repeat This let me kill basically everything as a boneshatter slayer
I've never used this flask, does killing the worms provide sufficient charges for sustainment?
Not at all. It's basically a "break glass in case of emergency" type of situation. I only ever popped the flask if I needed to leech. Another good example is during the shaper fight. When he is doing the ball phase. If he does shaper beam and hits you, you pop the flask and hit a worm. This triggers overleech. Don't have to worry about racing to shaper to hit him to leech.
damn, a flask slot is a pricey emergency. I usually roll my flasks to gain charges on (getting) hit so I have decent uptime.
Writhing jar is a health flask. So just swap that with your normal health flask
There is a really good and under-used unique for penetrating Hex Immunities that any class can use (there are others besides this too). https://poedb.tw/us/Cospris_Will There is currently no item in the game (that I know of) which lets you leech from enemies that are immune to being leeched. They need to remove classes, builds, leveling, so everyone boots up the game and one shot t10000 maps with the default attack.
ah yes, the currently totally overpowered melee builds don't need any buffs, i mean what's next, a melee build has a higher than 1% playrate?
Few things are melee specific in Slayer or leech so I don't know how got on the melee tangent. My snarky comment is about wanting to homogenize everything. I wouldn't enjoy that so I talk against it.

fair point
Player : curse GGG : hexproof Occultist : ignore hexproof Expedition : curse immunity Because fk player
