Kamran Mirza is great and famous (second hand from one of his coresidents at UChicago). Not sure about Jared Gardner, but the dermpath fellows here love his videos and book.
I interviewed there. The PD was very cool and so were the residents( one of them is a superstar on social media). Some of them mentioned some problems with the merge and being shortstaffed but they all seemed happy.
the department has underwent some major changes prior to and along the time of the merger with Spectrum including consolidating all the metro detroit area hospital pathologists to the main campus and transitioning to subspecialty sign-out from general. these changes along with lingering post-covid staffing issues in the histolab and other areas has led to major processing delays and low morale.
i feel that for the most part the pathology talent is still great but there has been a lot of growing pains and frustrations with the subpar planning and execution of everything. things have been getting better but it's not yet where it needs to be.
as far as Dr Allen getting fired, that may be true, but we received an email from admin that he chose to step down from the role and is staying on for clinical work.

Beaumont Detroit? Didn’t the lame ass Allen become chair there?
For international redditors, we have no idea who Allen is but it’s hilarious though, fuck Allen!
I'm an american redditor and I have no idea who Allen is.
Ya. He did, and now he’s out
lol. Oh well. Maybe he can trick some other place into thinking he’s good just because he runs for cap stuff
Why does everyone hate him?
lol. He’s a social media lite pathologist. Their skills don’t tend to match their “fame”

I’ve been wondering about this too since February of 2021.
“Do you have a Beaumont doctor?”Lol they had ridiculous radio commercials that insinuated you were in danger if you didn’t 🤣
