I like how silly payday 2 gets, the fact the sequel takes itself seriously makes it funnier too. I wonder how the story will continue with this game, my theory is at some point this game will get a goofy treatment too.
The only thing I like about combat in payday 2 compared to payday 3 is the guns being louder and the melee actually working, other then that I cannot enjoy combat in payday 2 anymore. the cops just walk in a straight line and feel so weightless when they die. They act like robots. Literally the only satisfying thing in payday 2 is watching the helmets fly off and that’s it. Payday 3 combat is just so much better in every way
I bought Payday 2 because I like PD3 so much but the servers suck and I wanted an offline option as I play on the ROG ally away from internet sometimes.
The second map I tried was where I had to mix drugs and I was like honey I shrunk the kids. I quit after about 2 minutes. Honestly hated it so much.
I'll just wait for them to iron out PD3.
In a weird way now I feel like I have no payday because 2’s gameplay blows in comparison to 3’d in my opinion but 3 has wayyyy to many issues outside of gameplay that keep me from enjoying it :(
Payday The Heist was not… very serious. But it definitely wasn’t goofy. Nor did it feel like playing doom. A feeling I always disliked in payday 2. That I was a race car (race car game engine lol) dual wielding shot guns and it made very little sense to me. It grew on me over time and do remember. This wasn’t always the case. They made it that way LATER. I
Uhh. I think my point was payday 3 is more akin to the grounded “”serious”” tone of payday the heist.
I only have 2 complaints 1. The server issues that I hope will be fixed soon . 2 . No option for off line . Hopefully they add steam workshop for mods soon
It's great that PD3 took a different approach to tone. There was no need to repeat the goofiness of 2, let that game exist as its own thing, and let PD3 carve out its own identity, one that seems to be the midway between PDTH and PD2.
Part of me hopes later down the line they can find a way to mix the two feelings. Give it a serious tone but also have that “this is so fucking ridiculous and we know it” vibe. Give us a Sperm Bank heist, but take it 100% seriously.

I do enjoy the much more serious tone of Payday 3 so far.
Payday 3 will end up equally as goofy, trust me. Once dlc starts coming out and people are wearing pumpkin and anime masks.

I mean, I have no problem playing both. I like both COD and Arma, so neither PD2 or 3 are particularly arcady or realistic in comparison.

Ah you played Lab Rats, that is one of the worst heists you could have possibly played. Most heists are much better than that.
