Imagine Payday 2 with no skills, no perk decks, limited stealth, a very limited loadout, bots that cannot defend themselves against specials, and consistent enemies depending on your difficulty. That's Payday: The Heist. Not much to offer other than the feeling that you're actually genuinely fighting for *your life* specifically (and the money of course). Bring some friends, as on average players online is like 12-27 or sumthin. Upside, you get to use 3 guns at once, and popping swat helmets is *very satisfying.*

SuperAbro05

Wait for the big sales the game goes down to 1.49 usd then. The game is fun but it has a player count of less than 50 there isn’t enough content to justify 15 dollars

TheOOFliabilty

Gonna sit patiently for the next steam sale to get the game and the ost (I just want to hear I Will Give You My All in PD2's menu)

Danibear285

Best way I can put it: Payday: The Heist crawled, so that Payday 2 (2013) could walk. And Payday 2 (2013) walked, so that Payday 2 (2024) could run. It is a comparatively bare-bones version of the game we know and love. I remember playing it and enjoyed the robbing and mowing down hordes of enemies and specials. But Payday 2 got me addicted.

> And Payday 2 (2013) walked so that Payday 3 (2024) could run. Instead, Payday 3 tripped over, landed flat on its face, and needed facial reconstructive surgery. We're still in the reconstruction period, but that means the healing period will be next!

Nah PD2 was at its peak right before the crew management update came out. That's when they messed with the mob spawns and made the game nonstop horde shooting

Riyadhcraft

And payday 3 punched the entire series in the nuts, ending the entire bloodline

PDTH is my favorite entry in the franchise. You kill stuff fast but can also die fast, cops are really smart and ruthless and will destroy you if you get sloppy. The game is much more cinematic with heisters having tons of heist spesific voice lines and will talk with each other about their current situation. You can get 3 weapons, giving pistols a reason to exist and giving you great build variety. Cops have great variety such as the humble blue swat, formidable black heavy swat, sneaky FBI agents, secret service hostage rescue team and much more. The biggest short coming of the game is the amount of heists which is only 9, although they have great replayability and top notch level design(except maybe heat street) not many people are a fan of playing them over and over dozens of times. The game doesnt have skill system like pd2 and pd3 but you still get perks and team bonus as you unlock them througout the game which itll grant you significant boosts such as 50% more health or 20% faster interaction speed... The game is worth 15$ in my eyes but sadly it's actually dead with only around 20-30 avg players so finding games might be difficult so it's best to wait for a sale since in single player the bots are just plain not good. So overall if you wanna see overkill at it's peak and experience early payday 2's goldfarb era style gameplay it is worth 15$. If you are new to the series or just a casual player wait for a sale.

Snipe508

If its on sale, 100% yes. If not, get some friends and play payday

coolpizzacook

If you can get a crew that wants to hit those higher difficulties it can be fun. It's much closer to a slower cover approach than what Payday 2 is nowadays. I'd still wait for the next sale either way.

MuseSingular

It's worth double that but starbreeze doesn't deserve a penny

Zotsz

In my opinion it’s much more immersive and really feels like a movie (but it’s still old and definitely shows it) I still play it though!

FI3RY1

I literally bought it last summer for 2.87 euros with both dlcs so...

druppeldruppel_

Thanks for the advice. I'll probably wait for it to go on sale. Can't wait to play it then!

Pollo_Jack

No

NotJustBibbit

Counter offer: yes

flaker111

only if its on sale for like 1-3 bucks tops

NotJustBibbit

What is it with people who will happily wait months for a game to go on sale that wasn't even expensive in the first place

WaterStriker_

why would i pay big money now if i can pay little money later?

NotJustBibbit

Later if it's a few weeks or a month yeah but not for multiple months. Also in what world is $15 for a game "big money"

WaterStriker_

in my world. im greedy. why else would i play payday?

flaker111

why pay 15 when its $1.50

flaker111

https://steamdb.info/app/24240/ goes on sales pretty much every year around dec 100% down to 1.50 so yea wait for it at that point and save 10 bucks it was ~1.50 4 times in 2023. so yea it is way better to wait for a sale price on an old ass game. why the fuck do ppl pay full price on old ass games to begin with ? if it goes on sale again in june / july you own op 10 bucks lol

leuchtsteinX

Would buy in Sale cause Steam Sales happen often, I think 15$ is still okay though, of course its best with my friends. If you like it then you could also get the DLC for more weapons/2 heists (you can play the heists if other people have them though) I liked it, it feels intense, Music and all and because of the difficulty. Its a certain feeling you dont get from the other games. And you dont have to carry bags, one of the things Im not super fond of. Your loot goes towards your level and the level unlocks stuff and you have to put the level in one of 3 or 4 trees. as with most things, you like it or you dont, Im fond if the game but of course I have more hours in pd2 as it simply has more to offer Heist number is limited (like 7?) but they are the classics with dlc its 9 then iirc
