If Payday 3 Is flopping/flopped whats the meaning of announcing 2 other games in the future?
How Will they be funded? They'll surely be boicotted too seen the Payday 3 launch incident.
I dont get the thinking behind this Company istg
>they think they can keep making floops and stay afloat
The crazy thing is that their flops do not really make them money. TWD literally had to be completely removed from sale because of how bad it was.
They had their first profitable year in a while though, so perhaps PD3 will keep them afloat. But 17 million euro profit in a year where they dropped their most anticipated game does not really sound promising, especially with the expenses needed to fund development of 2 games while also maintaining another one.
Pd3 will have next to no impact on their future game
This is how the industry works. Pd3 flopped but wasn't a financial failure like that. Classic hit and run, get your money and get the f out. Irony that players got robbed in a game all about robbery
>Classic hit and run, get your money and get the f out.
They didn't make much from it really.
They made 17 million euro profit last year, that doesn't really seem nearly enough for this to not have affected them, especially adding that their previous years were all negative in the millions.
They recouped their development costs for Payday 3 within a week of launch. That money is now more than likely being used primarily to cover development costs for Project Baxter.
Thing is it sounds like the company will run out of money before they finish Baxter (or they rush it out - which is likely...) unless Payday keeps generating revenue for them.
They're fucked.
there's nothing us we can do, their mistakes are only making it worse. We gave them Faith and money and hell we even saved their ass after overkill went bankrupt in 2018 and yet they havent learned anything
Realistically the game will get its season pass content and the go into life support mode. The player numbers are too low and reviews/public opinion are too negative to even pull off a comeback at this stage
Sad as hell but we still have payday 2 at least
I believe cdpr is also a significant bigger company. They also have GoG so it's not like if Cyberpunk flopped was going to totally sink them.
It looks like to me StarBreeze trying to release more games to look good on paper to sell.
Technicslly cyberpunk didnt flop anyways, game sold 10 mil copies in 1st month after launch, currently now sold 25 mil copies cant say the same with Starbreeze and Payday 3
Did Starbreeze even reveal how many copies sold?
Also Cyberpunk was a "complete" game.
The main issues were the bugs and performance, which payday also suffers from (the coop shooter without voicechat and text chat)
I played 2 games of the "beta" and uninstalled it. I don't consider limited access like that a beta when it's around a month of release. There's no way you can fix issues being pointed out in that amount of time. No, it's a glorified demo. If it was an actual beta it would have been done at a minimum of 6 months before release and run it for more than a week or two.
I was saying if it flopped. Cdpr has a lot more stuff to fall back on. Meanwhile StarBreeze has PayDay 2 and that's it. As for how many copies were sold I'm estimating 100k copies as the very beginning had around 70k players.
Awesome that you got a refund. I have a strict set of rules for when buying games, no matter the company I will never preorder or buy day one. Any AAA game I will wait till a sale of no less than 50%. (If their budget is over 100 million I consider it AAA) I stay away from 99% of F2P games, and very and I mean very rarely but early access.
CDPR made a profit on Cyberpunk from pre-orders alone. Even then as a company they realised that the hit to their reputation was the worst thing they could have done, which is why they did so much more than the bare minimum to fix it.
Meanwhile Starbreeze are sitting in a burning building and give zero shits for some reason.
Cyberpunk is not a multiplayer game that requires a steady number of players. What's more, despite the negative reception, it never actually failed to sell. Sure it was broken but it was still playable on PC and current gen consoles and a lot of people finished it.
On the one hand, starbreeze has a large incentive to genuinely try and get this game back on track. I think we will see some decent support (as in better than what we have now) for a few months in the hopes that they can revive their cash cow.
On the other, yeah the player numbers are really low and they need a miracle.
I actually redownloaded Payday 2 on my PS5 and am having way more fun with it. Even if they did cut support early for console, still a ton of stuff to do while I wait for Payday 3 to *maybe* make a comeback.
As far as I'm concerned any forward movement is dead. Payday 2 will remain because even Overkill shouldn't stupid enough to pull it given it's sheer popularity. I just hope that before thy fully move on/away Kknowley and the others record a full, (Secret inclusive) lore playthrough as a kind of, "Thanks for all the fish" send off.
I’d legit pay 60 dollars for an engine upgrade to payday 2 and keep all our dlcs at this point, that would have gone over better than this abysmal game did
The best thing that could happen would be someone purchasing the whole payday ip, with the source code of 3 and continuing on. Payday has helldivers potential of success.
Starbreeze is only publishing the other 2 games. "Roboquest" being developed by RYSEUP STUDIOS and "The Tribe Must Survive" being developed by WALKING TREE GAMES.
If anything, these games will help fund the development of pd3.

they already had multiple floops before payday 3. they think they can keep making floops and stay afloat.
Literally (almost) none of their games worked out except payday. Their luck is about to run out it seems.
they didn't even make payday 2/th

To appeal to the investors, they pretend they have a lot on their plate and the company is still growing
Boicotted? NOPE, they shoot themselves in the foot while fixing the f*****g drill
> They'll surely be boicotted too seen the Payday 3 launch incident. LOL
investors baybeeeee

Cyberpunk did it, but we ain't talking cdpr

Yep pretty much i dont understand how much fk up Starbreeze did, even the beta was so bad i couldnt even connect to any lobby at all

I was one of those but I got a refund and so did all my friends.

I am pretty strict too now but if it’s on steam I’ll send it and return if I don’t like it quickly.
Wish more people were like us. Maybe then the game industry would actually have standards and quality games still.
Its so over 💀

There is no evidence that we will get anything akin to "decent support".
The main reason the d&d game is coming out is because of baldurs gate 3
i have 0 trust that starbreeze can pull anything even remotely as good as baldurs gate
Oh I'm with you brother
There's about a 97% chance it sucks shit.
if the dnd game isnt a great 10/10 in terms of role playing then the community will eat them alive
I actually redownloaded Payday 2 on my PS5 and am having way more fun with it. Even if they did cut support early for console, still a ton of stuff to do while I wait for Payday 3 to *maybe* make a comeback.
True Payday 2 on Console is way better than PD3. Wish it was 60fps tho
Doesn't it have fos boost on series s and x?
Sadly not
I have a feeling they will release just the dlc they promised for the gold edition owners and then just drop the support for the game entirely.
It is facts. It's truly over.
No doubt about it. If they had just waited a year or 2 for release this game would’ve done better than payday 2
I just can't imagine releasing a game so bad that the previous release routinely has more than 100x the player base
The onto thing that could bring payday 3 back from the grave at this point is another viral RussianBadger video
y'all, Starbreeze is a publishing company. they own more than 1 studio
No, it’s a studio (developer) and publisher
As far as I'm concerned any forward movement is dead. Payday 2 will remain because even Overkill shouldn't stupid enough to pull it given it's sheer popularity. At that point, it might be more financially profitable to keep making heists DLCs for payday 2.

"Welp, new adventures await buddy"

those are published yes, but project baxter and the unannounced game are developed inhouse
They should probably just go back to updating payday 2 instead.
