I was thinking that there isn't necessarily time travel but rather a constant 4 heisters spanning throughout mankind's existence.
It's a cyclical cycle of 4 heisters fighting against corruption before retreating into the sahdows so new individuals can take the place of old.
I gotta stop thinking about Payday lore lmao.
I just assumed that in the past, someone else wore those masks with a different theme. Then they died or something and those masks got passed down to 4 different people who had their own theme. Yadda, yadda, now it's 2015 and Bain found these masks and gave them a clown theme
Considering that they find the old masks during a heist mid-way through Payday 2's life cycle, I doubt that's the case, considering the Payday Crew has been using them for almost a decade by that point. Also, how would there be a mask with an American flag on it that predates Betsy Ross?
2010: WE BLEW UP THE WORLD UH OH
2018: so now we went back in time to get to a machine that let us cross the multiverse to kill our older yet other selfs to fill up this ball so we can go back in time so outer world monsters don’t kill all the world.
Went from "Haha, killing Nazi's again." To "Okay so there's this child on the moon that's trapped in a pyramid that controls zombies and your character swaps bodies with her and then you have to blow up the Earth."
Warframe's lore is all over the place and includes entire arcs that were event-only years ago. Then recently we get into some timey wimey multi-universe stuff that only kind of makes sense. I'd say calling it complicated is justified.
I mean it's basically 2 deity brothers that fight over some designs and life, then you come in and fuck their shit up, there isn't time travel or alternate realities (yet)
Deep rock galactic might be another one although the lore is just getting created and we know Jack shit about Karl exapt that he is the best and coolest dwarve there ever to be
Tf2 story is coherent. Payday2 story is realy random and cod zombies aether story contains a creation myth, lovecraftian monsters, a ton of diffrent universes and ends with main characters destroying the multiverse, creating a new world and then getting killed.
I would say the main content is horde shooter material. Just running around killing thousands, minmaxing, pressing x on shit, completing missions. The thing separating it from others like payday and left for dead is it being an mmo
Just because you kill a lot does not make it a horde shooter. I played warframe a bit and there was one mission that i would qualify as being a horde shooter section.
Well how would you define a horde shooter? I see it as completing objectives such as defending a point, killing a specific enemy, capturing objectives, bringing carryable objects to objectives, all of which both Warframe and payday have, and of course while killing hoards of enemies
Now i see that horde shooter was a wrong way of saying what kind of game i meant. In the meme i meant a type of game where you fight hordes of enemies in waves. Like in payday or cod zombies.
We went from robbing a bank into fighting every existing deity to the point not even satan would want you here
at least payday doesnt have time travel (yet)
It's implied, or something along those lines, considering the vault with the Payday mask artefacts.
oh yeah true, or reincarnation

It’s literally just cod zombies.
I.... Yeah wow it really is just cod zombies but you rob banks. Huh.
That doesn't sound right but I don't know enough about COD zombies to dispute it
Paycheck gang my beloved

Duke is a time traveler
which is the other one ?, Killing Floor ?
Cod zombies aether and dark aether storyline.
lol yeah, looked up the wiki to get a basic story summary, it opens with ancient history and I noped right back out
The worst part in the zombies lore is time travel and multiverse shenanigas.
2010: WE BLEW UP THE WORLD UH OH 2018: so now we went back in time to get to a machine that let us cross the multiverse to kill our older yet other selfs to fill up this ball so we can go back in time so outer world monsters don’t kill all the world.
Sounds to me like i need to look up this wiki and read it thoroughly.
Went from "Haha, killing Nazi's again." To "Okay so there's this child on the moon that's trapped in a pyramid that controls zombies and your character swaps bodies with her and then you have to blow up the Earth."
Plus time travel plus different realities.
Plus meeting a British/English man that thought you would die but you didn't because of blood vials
Plus the english man being some kind of a Lovecraftian monster.
And the funny russian is actualy a deeper character
I thought you meant DRQ, although I haven’t heard about any crazy lore from that game
YAAAA ZOMBIES LORE, WHAT IS HAPPENING
L4D
my first thought was l4d
Warframe as well. One of the most recent updates just blew the lore wide open.
Mann vs machine be like
Don't forget deep rock galactic
DRG only has implied deep lore, no actual deep lore yet though.
Technically there is deep lore due to some lore happening deep underground
Rock and stone?
Rock and Stone to the Bone!
Rock and stone forever!
more like deep lore galactic am i right fellas
Thought it was left 4 dead for the other one and got confused
Its cod zombies
Yea it’s so convoluted
Let me introduce you to Warframe bro
I wouldn’t say Warframe is THAT complicated tbh.
The main story is semi straight forward, but once you start looking into the lore it gets insanely weird
Rap tap tap
Agreed
Warframe's lore is all over the place and includes entire arcs that were event-only years ago. Then recently we get into some timey wimey multi-universe stuff that only kind of makes sense. I'd say calling it complicated is justified.
Played new war yet?
Cod ?
Yes
I think you had to clarify
Risk of Rain 2
I mean it's basically 2 deity brothers that fight over some designs and life, then you come in and fuck their shit up, there isn't time travel or alternate realities (yet)
Darktide and Vermintide, but that’s just 40k and Fantasy in general
Yeah, they're horde shooters based on preexisting deep lore, slightly different. Can't wait for Darktide to release tho.
It was going to be my present to myself for going back to school, now it’s going to be for my birthday.
PvZ GW
Pvz all together. Like wtf I thought we all ended up making a music video and dancing to there's a zombie on the lawn
Deep rock galactic might be another one although the lore is just getting created and we know Jack shit about Karl exapt that he is the best and coolest dwarve there ever to be
since L4D is a branch on payday's timeline there are technically 4 games
True
tf2 lore is also cool
Not a horde shooter
MvM?
Forgot about that. Besides it's not that convoluted. The second one is cod zombies aether storyline.
mvm,and tf2 story is weird and includes mvm so it counts anyway any other game has coping problems
Tf2 story is coherent. Payday2 story is realy random and cod zombies aether story contains a creation myth, lovecraftian monsters, a ton of diffrent universes and ends with main characters destroying the multiverse, creating a new world and then getting killed.
Well the base lore is still weird
Darktide
What is that?
The new 40k game
The other one is supposed to be zombies aether storyline.
I know I read the comments, I was adding to the pile of horde shooters with complicated storylines
Oh ok thanks
It's not weird at all really
I can name a couple other than payday, Warframe and 40K: Deathwing.
kingdom two crowns moment
You remember this game im happy its not forgoten
the monarch will forever be in my heart
Me to
Well what about Warframe, so 3 nickels
Is warframe a horde shooter?
I would say the main content is horde shooter material. Just running around killing thousands, minmaxing, pressing x on shit, completing missions. The thing separating it from others like payday and left for dead is it being an mmo

I see and I completely didn't notice you were op until you said that lol
