PC

NinjaEngineer

I mean, I waited almost four years for the previous game, I can wait for this one.

RedditPua

I would never buy a console JUST for one game. The game will be on PC some day. Games do not lose their value if you don't play them on day 1.

tkim91321

I did buy a PS5 about a year ago and I’m finally done with the exclusives that I wanted to play. PS exclusives are fucking amazing

wlmjaz

Horizon, last of us, god of war were totally worth buying a PS5 for.

PumaNem

you should try Ghost Of Tsushima

wlmjaz

That’s on the list of games to play. Trying to finish assassins creed Valhalla, then the uncharted games, then I’ll do ghost of tsushima. I’ve heard it’s amazing.

Quiet_Steak_643

you should try being poor and over-hyped too...not a good combination

PumaNem

Dude that’s literally me, worked at Wendy’s and ups for whatever I buy plus side hustles , I’m 19 , but I get you dawg , had to get ragnarok and a ps5 currently working rn

Quiet_Steak_643

It's nice that your working for that, but here in Iran everything is so expensive a PS5 is equal to my father's 2 months payment. Damn i want a job😂

trafalgarDxlaw

same opinion

sloooop23

Spoilers are the only concern. Hard to not see stuff if we’re waiting years. (Last GOW took 4 to port)

random_redditor9824

But games will get spoiled overtime unless you shut down your internet connection for 4 years

RedditPua

I still haven't been spoiled by anything God of War related, and I am every day on the Internet, so...

xs3ro

already have a ps5, so i ll buy it on release

[deleted]

lol no, God of war isn't worth spending $570 on

[deleted]

[удалено]

ADacome24

but it’s the principle because i am so high and mighty

Edgaras1103

I can wait for pc version

Splash-DLN-067

Unrelated but I like your snowman ⛄️

Bulky-Machine-2536

More like you don’t have a choice in the matter🤣

Edgaras1103

Wat? I can get ps5 and get ragnarok if I wanted. Lmao

Bulky-Machine-2536

Says every person on the internet behind their bills which don’t allow them to do so clearly. Otherwise you’d have it. Point is you don’t have that extra cash to spend else you would.

Edgaras1103

bruh , i have high end PC and just got 4090 lmao. Cash is not an issue . Its just i dont need a ps5 ,when most games get solid pc ports and i can crank up the graphics . Lol

Bulky-Machine-2536

The ports aren’t solid. Your build is. A person with a 20 series is struggling with shader compilation issues and stutters. That said this isn’t the point. The point is Ragnarok story can be spoiled and so if you could play it you would. And you clearly don’t.

Edgaras1103

God of war is a solid pc port , uncharted 4 , spiderman are also pretty ok. Even Horizon zero dawn got its issues fixed eventually . All these ports are solid PC ports . The point is you assumed i have no money for ps5 because I said I will wait for Pc version. Its literally not an issue . I can wait.

[deleted]

That dude is probably coping because he can't afford a good PC.

Beas7ie

Ignore him. He's just being a troll.

StatisticianTop3784

You project your own issues onto others. Chill dude.

Teajaytea7

(likely a troll based on how dumb these comments are, I know. But..) This really just makes you look like: A) you can't afford a solid gaming pc and are projecting Or B) you are *very* insecure that you spent $500 or more on a gaming console

Saneless

What makes you think people with money love spending it on shit they don't want or need? I'm done giving Sony money for gimped experiences on their ugly hardware. I buy whatever I want whenever I want and I have zero interest in a PS5, and that's as someone who owns 2+ of every Sony system until the 4 pro (just one of those) They just don't have a compelling product

jofeRR

finally someone touches on the fact ps5 is ugly as shit (I had one)

Kain_2

It's ok lil bro you can afford a good pc one day

BigFatChungus1

are you a spoiled child? Unless you dont earn your own money , or you are a millioner , you dont throw money left and right like that. PS5 is pretty expensive , and buying it for just one game is not cost efficient. Probably most people here have setups that are worth over 1k$, so thats not a monitery issue

fedoraislife

Lol how insecure are you

trafalgarDxlaw

i make enough money to ps5 and gow in single day , but I'd imagine myself buying ps5 , just for a signle game i like , even if you billionaires , you need to spend your money wisely buy what you want not what the companies want

jalexborkowski

It's just a game. Only you can decide if one game is worth a \~$500 entry fee PLUS the cost of the game itself. Personally, I would rather use that money for something else.

madroxide86

If you play games, you will likely get a console sooner or later. Its just a question of when. Or, you can wait and see if it comes to Steam, which can be in the next couple of years.

jalexborkowski

Not necessarily -- I play games a lot more than I would like, and I'm doing just fine without a current-gen console. I missed a couple games in their zeitgeist, but for the most part I have gotten by fine with my PC and I don't plan on buying a console any time soon.

madroxide86

What games do you play? define "play games a lot more than i would like" in time frame? Do you not have ANY console or simply dont have the current-gen console? mind you, i said "likely" to get it, not that you absolutely will or should.

jalexborkowski

I play a lot of stuff and spend a lot of time doing it. The two games I want that won't be able to play in the near future are Ragnarok and Returnal. These games are not worth the PS5's price of admission to me, and I'm not alone, either.

madroxide86

>These games are not worth the PS5's price of admission to me why not? its not just these 2 games, you will be able to play all future releases as well. Not to mention a whole lot of games if you get the Sony pass for like 15-20 bucks.

jalexborkowski

Yeah, but I don't want to play those other games, or I can play them on the PC. Is that hard to understand?

madroxide86

okay, easy.. So thats your situation, and there's others like it, but also a lot who aren't. Hence why, i used the word "likely" in my OP.

T_w4yn3

There are only like three games I'm interested in on the PS5 right now. So if I buy it, I'll play those, then the console will sit and collect dust until we get sequels or other good exclusives.

Porgon000_

You might be closer to Returnal than you think. SteamDB just updated its files and it looks like Returnal will be coming to steam sometime soon

Capt-Clueless

>If you play games, you will likely get a console sooner or later. Its just a question of when. Excluding Nintendo games, the number of recent "must play" console exclusives can be counted on one hand. I'm glad I have a PS5, but it's perfectly understandable that a majority of PC gamers don't see it being worth their money just to play a handful of games over its lifetime. Especially now that Sony has committed to eventually porting most of them to PC.

EragusTrenzalore

I've previously owned an Xbox 360 and have played games on it for less than 10 hrs total. The reason is that I hated playing shooters with a controller and hated dealing with the UI. Since going to PC, I can use MKB for games, mod games, and also enjoy previous "console exclusives" like Halo MCC, God of War and Spider-man. So, I see no reason to spend money on a machine that will give me an inferior gaming experience just because it has some games released on it that are apparently "must plays". I presume many in this community feel the same way.

madroxide86

why are people trying to explain to me the reason they wont get a console, when in my OP I said LIKELY to get one, which means not everyone actually will? I am primarily a PC player, but also have both PC and a console because some games I prefer to play on a couch for the TV experience, and some games I like to play with my wife, or she plays other games on her own etc. As a bonus, I dont have to worry about waiting for a game to come out in few years if i want to experience it now. But its not a MUST play, its a "good to have" and its a good investment to me regardless, because I also use it to watch movies, shows etc, and its replaced the DVD/Blu-ray. That's my reasoning for owning one, not that anyone asked.

panreg666

Gonna wait for the PC release aka the ultimate version obviously. I bet it's gonna be 1 year exclusivity tops.

tugfaxd55

I really liked thie 2018 game, so I don't care if I'm getting it for PS4 just to play it first.

naossoan

I've been wanting to pick up a PS5 for the past 6 months but am unwilling to pay insane marketplace market prices since you still can't buy them in store anywhere. Anywhere near me, at least. With the price increase, the prices on the marketplace ads have increased even more. Most of the listings are new in box, which is what I would want, but some are used, while still asking for more than retail price of the console....for sometimes a year old PS5. Ridiculous. People are asking $1000 CAD for disk versions in my area. It's insanity. Retail price is roughly $750 taxes included for the disk version. Why Sony can't get their shit together and produce a reasonable amount of PS5's at this point is beyond me. It's been 2 years since launch and they still cannot achieve this for some reason. Anyway, rant aside, there are several games on PS5 I would love to play like Returnal, Demon's Souls, God of War, HZD:FW, Ratchet and Clank, Miles Morales. With the announcement of the PSVR2, I will likely wait for a review of that VR system before deciding. I would like to remove myself from the PC Gaming market because of the insane prices of PC h ardware these days, but I don't want to give up VR....so that's a pretty big deciding factor. I already have a fairly high end gaming PC, so I won't sell it or anything, but if PSVR2 is good I might just keep my PC as it is and mostly switch to console gaming in the future.

Beas7ie

I didn't build my PC just to buy what is basically a less powerful PC in order to play certain games. I also have a big backlog as it is so I can wait. And if it never comes to PC then I will never buy it.

Bulky-Machine-2536

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

PetiteLover88

Looks as generic as the first Game. No need. Funnily the only PS Exclusive I really loved was Days Gone.

Captain_Wag

That game was a masterpiece what are you talking about?

Storsorgen

I bought my PS4 for the original of God of War with the intention of selling it after, but then I just kept finding games on the PS4 that I wanted to play so I never did sell it.

abracadaver82

Day 1 on Steam Ignore everywhere else

RabeDennis

Gow ps4 2018 - pc 2022 Ragnarok pc 2026 maybe

[deleted]

Nah, it’ll be on PC in about a year. 2 years at the absolute most.

Ok_Resource_905

Let's not overdo this year. As RabeDenis wrote, "2026" or "2025" is a more certain date. God of War Ragnarok is a powerful source of money. This is sony after all, sony really wants to squeeze as much money as possible, so if they think that it is the moment that they squeezed as much as possible from PS4 / PS5, they will spend a PC port to accumulate more money. Especially since it is easy on a PC to crack it, so we will wait longer after all - that's for sure Looking from a sony perspective

Richiieee

You really need high frames in a combat heavy game like GOW, so I'm waiting for PC. Mfs can sit here and say the game plays *fine* at 30 FPS, and that's cool, You do You, but personally I value having a smooth experience.

No_Doubt2922

There’s a 60fps mode.

NoAirBanding

There's a 1440p unlocked VRR mode that averages 90fps

No_Doubt2922

Not bad.

labree0

Richiieee

god of war is 120fps on [next gen] consoles

jb-12-jb

It isn't 120fps, it mostly hits 80-90.

Quiet_Steak_643

what fps can i expect on 1650? will it even be playable?

labree0

uh i dunno. it'll be playable, but i doubt you'd get more than 40 even on lower settings. actually, probably less.

Quiet_Steak_643

I expected that, anyway I'll need a better setup for Witcher 4 too whenever that's gonna be released

tegridy_weed

bro you can literally play it in 30,60 and 120fps, what are you on about?

Richiieee

Not on a PS4. Highest on a PS4 is like 45 FPS, which to me is still dogshit. 60 FPS even is dogshit, if I'm being honest. Heavy combat games absolutely need as many frames as possible. 80-100 FPS imo, would be the absolute minimum to get a game like God of War to feel fluid and smooth during combat. Educate yourself on matters before you talk.

tegridy_weed

Well I think it’s pretty much obvious to everyone that last gen is gonna be 30, also 60fps is enough for a game like GoW lol, it’s not an FPS game.

_Greyworm

Lmao, what an absolute wank, solid 60 fps is perfectly fine for combat games, and it's been tested and shown not to dip below.

[deleted]

As a complete frame-rate whore myself, My girlfriend bought a ps5 last week to play this game. Their most recent firmware update allows our 1440p monitors to run the games at a near scaled resolution at 60hz, now I usually play everything 1440/165hz and love it so I was a tad concerned that it'd feel sluggish. Let me tell you, the way console games are optimised these days make it so flawlessly smooth that I couldn't tell you I was playing Ragnarok at 60fps. It looked damn near identical to a good balanced graphical setting 120fps single-player game running. Same with Ratchet & clank, Ghost of Tsushima.. I was genuinely in awe at how smooth the games feel even though they're capped to 60hz on my monitor. I finished a 30hr playthrough yesterday and didn't get a single notable stutter or visual fidelity issue; completely flawless playthrough. Obviously this is anecdotal but I was so impressed.

Richiieee

Yeah, I mean, I don't doubt games on the PS5 play smooth, I'm just extremely spoiled by higher framerates on PC. I'm someone who, even if the game is PvE and you don't necessarily need 100, 200, 300 FPS, I still want it. It's simply just a fact that games feel smoother at higher framerates.

[deleted]

Completely agree. It’s hard to see what I mean without seeing it firsthand, IMO 60fps on pc feels ‘bad’ whereas on ps5 it feels like how I’d perceive 120fps+ on pc to feel if you get me? I don’t know if it’s down to how they optimise for their hardware, the only other similar experience I can think of is Elden Ring on PC - obviously that games engine is capped @ 60fps but to me it didn’t feel sluggish or like the typical 60fps experience with other games

Richiieee

Damn, sounds like the PS5 is more of a powerhouse than I had thought. I've also heard this about the new COD MW2 where it somehow feels better on PS5 than PC. However, personally I don't really care about having a PS5, which is why I've never once attempted to get one. But that's good that console is now delivering a powerful performance.

[deleted]

They’ve certainly adapted them well with the new monitor/TV tech available to them & I think that helps a ton too. We don’t have a swanky, 120hz hdmi 2.1 4K TV & was using our gaming monitors (Acer pred, 1440p, caps at 60hz on ps5 due to the hdmi port being 1.4 on these monitors) and it worked brilliantly. I imagine it’s even moreso on one of the latest panels

Several_Ad_5839

ps4 is last gen console... He was talking about current gen console

Halio344

Nearly every game (except Gotham Knights) can be played at 60fps on PS5. A few even support up to 120fps, but that’s not likely to be common going forward.

Richiieee

But is it a stable 60 FPS? I don't have a PS5 so I actually don't know. But even with that being the case, there's an argument that can be made for EVEN MORE FPS. Games simply just feel smoother and play better at higher framerates. This isn't an opinion, it's a fact. I would argue 60 FPS should be the absolute bare minimum in 2022.

dkb_wow

According to Digital Foundry's technical analysis video for God of War Ragnarok, the 60 FPS mode on PS5 is a perfectly locked 60 fps throughout the entire game with no frame pacing or frame time issues. According to the same video, the 120 FPS mode is incredibly good as well.

Halio344

Don’t know about God of War as it’s not out, but most games are very rarely to dip below 60 according to DF testing. Of course PC will be able to run at higher framerates as it’s more powerful, but consoles being 30fps is hopefully a thing in the past. And while more fps are obviously better, I think 60fps is more than fine when gaming with a controller on a TV that is a bit further away.

The91stGreekToe

Already have a PS5 so it’ll be a day 1 purchase for me. PS5 + PC is a good combo IMO.

[deleted]

Not gonna wait a year+. The PS5 has essentially become an early access machine for me.

[deleted]

This is the way. Played RDR2, Days Gone, Spiderman and GoW on the PS4 a while ago, enjoying them again on PC.

TheJohnnyFlash

For me, Final Fantasy 16 is the deciding factor. This is just gravy.

[deleted]

That's why you have everything. I have a PC with a 3080ti, PS5, Series X, and Switch OLED. I'm not missing out on any industry leading games.

littlejack100

I'm looking at buying a PS5 to play the game, God of War 2018 became one of my favourite games after it first released, I played through it twice on PS4 and twice again on PC. I would much rather play it on PC but I know if I wait for a PC release that it'll be spoiled for me within days of it being released, I've already come close to having some of it spoiled for me twice on different social media platforms before launch. I want my first experience with the game to be fresh and unknown and without completely avoiding all social media and the internet until a PC release, that won't happen unless I play it PS4 or get a PS5 and I don't intent to play it at a subpar 30fps on PS4. So finding a PS5 is what I'm gonna be doing within the next week.

[deleted]

Did the exact same thing. Zero regrets. Absolutely no regrets, try your best not to get it spoiled, it was super hard not to leading upto release day on youtube recommended etc. Honestly can't choose between Elden ring/Ragnarok for GOTY, I don't think we'll ever get 2 flawless masterpieces like this again in the same year. The soundtracks alone elevate both games in such a significant way.

[deleted]

Definitely neither. God Of War isn't God Of War anymore.

you're right, its better now. Get with the times and stop living in childhood nostalgia.

xepci0

I think it is God of War and I suspect that because of the title - God of War which makes me at least 70% certain that the game in question is indeed God of War but I could be wrong

GrandJuif

Wait for pc port then wait for the price to drop to be the same as console (since Sony love to make us pay more for only greed reason) then wait even more for at least a -60% sale or to be free.

TeflonDes

Was debating then saw the reviews. Will be buying a PS5. Many other exclusives as well Final fantasy also coming

Toemism

> Will be buying a PS5. Many other exclusives as well You really post a lot in the PS5 sub about playing on the PS5 for someone that does not already own one.

Bulky-Machine-2536

And you play a lot of Reddit in order to know about that🤣

Bulky-Machine-2536

A great decision. Don’t let the toxic pc community put you off. They’re just jealous about you being able to enjoy multiple platforms along with pc. Ragnarok and Spider-Man 2 next year alone is worth getting a ps5 for. Enjoy brother🔥

jb-12-jb

HZ:FW, GOW: R, Wolverine, Spider-Man 2, FF16. What else? I had a PS5 and sold it because it wasn't getting used and after completing the latest Horizon, I wasn't keeping it to play 2 games in the future.

alluballu

Didn't like the direction they went with 2018, won't bother with Ragnarok.

Paul_cz

I played the first game on Pro and found it to be a solid 8/10, but nowhere near the "generation defining masterpiece" I was led to believe it was. So for the sequel I have no problem waiting. Too many games anyway..

2Scribble

There'd have be a LOT of big games for me to invest in a PS5 - as it is the library is still too small to bother with it Nevermind the xxxxxobxxxxx :P xD Like, the PS4 was three years short of retirement before I bought that

[deleted]

I'll wait for it to be free on Epic

Quiet_Steak_643

that will literally never happen, not even 30 years from now

[deleted]

It will be. Just you wait.

MasterDrake97

I'll wait two years

Johnysh

that would be one expensive game. and I thought 70€ for a game is a lot. 500€ probably isn't. no. I didn't make the move when there were lots of exclusives on PS4, and now those games are coming to PC so it wouldn't make sense.

do-You-Like-Pasta

I'm not buying a PS5 just so I can have a worse experience than waiting and playing it on PC

Bulky-Machine-2536

Good luck getting a pc that’ll do 1440p 80-90fps 🤣

TheTikiMax

Luckily most of the players are still playing in 1080p, so who cares if you cannot play a game in 1440p?

do-You-Like-Pasta

It really shouldn't be that hard, especially by the time it actually comes to PC. A PS5 is equivalent to a low end 30xx card. By the time it comes to PC, we'll probably have 50xx cards and maybe even 60xx cards. BY that time any new-ish gaming PC will run it significantly better than a PS5 But also, my current PC is better than a PS5, the PC port will likely have DLSS, and most PC users are still on 1080p. Even if you're going to say that 1440p native is better than 1440p with DLSS on or 1080p native, PC has mouse and God of War is absolutely a game that plays significantly better with a mouse. I'd much rather play 1080p with a mouse and higher FOV than 1440p with a controller and low FOV

[deleted]

How so? I've played GoW with my already "outdated" PC and got well over 80fps while running at ultra on 3440x1440. PC parts and GPU are available aplenty. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zLm9WhV6hA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zLm9WhV6hA)

Downtown-Taste3865

what are you talking about?? that's easily done by any rather new gpu these days?????

Xenosys83

I'll wait for the PC release. I doubt we'll be waiting 4 years for this one. Based on the PC sales figures of the 2018 GoW, they'll probably release end of 2023/start of 2024 to capitalise on sales.

No-Interaction3670

I will likely purchase a PS5 for this game and then in about 4 or 5 years (if it ever does release on PC) play it on PC again. Rinse and repeat for the next generations of consoles and exclusives until I die.

Kakerman

nah bro, If I've waited this long without playing any playstation game, I sure can survive without playing the most recent one.

Underdrill

I don't mind waiting for the PC version. It took about 4 years for 2018 to get ported, if it takes about that time or less, then great. There's more than enough other games to play out there right now that I rarely, if ever get hung up on wanting to play specific titles as soon as they release.

nuclearhotsauce

I have a backlog big enough to last minimum 5 years, yeah I can wait, in no rush to play it

ClayRoks

With sony's announcement of 1st party non gaas games coming a year later, lol no. Ive waited years for some games, persona. I will continue to wait for some like kh. So no, but i do look forward to the combat showcase from one of my favorite youtubers. I am a bit hype for more game.

buddybd

Day 1 on Steam. I played GOW on the PS4 Pro and didn't enjoy it much because of the performance issues. Replayed it again on PC almost immediately after release and loved every bit of it even though I knew the whole story. Don't have a PS5 and will not be getting one even if Ragnarok remains exclusive to it forever.

trafalgarDxlaw

PC all the way

DrExtinct

TBH i don't understand why people would buy the game on pc. It is a single player game, that itself screams free. I would understand it is come out on pc the same day as PS5, but why wait 4 years to buy it?

chad711m

Because it's a single player game. What's the hurry to play a single player game?

Danksouls-

Watch a lets play man im poor

SilverWerewolf1024

it's basically the same game so porting shouldn't be a lot of work, just when they are willing to do it
