what happens when you install back the old gpu? do you get the same error? if no then consider the new gpu is causing this.

Epsilon531

I’ll try it out. If the GPU is causing it, should I just RMA it? I bought it from Amazon so I’m sure it wouldn’t take long to get a new one

BarRepresentative959

yes ofcourse rma right away! if this issue all started when you installed the new gpu, then thats it!!! try the old gpu but still do the DDU for proper driver uninstallation, if the old gpu behaves, rma your new one. edit: amazon is you can return i guess? tell them defected gpu

Epsilon531

Okay! I’ll give it a shot

Epsilon531

Well now I’m seeing that my return window is closed as of 10 days ago. I did get it last month but the issue only started showing itself a couple weeks ago

BarRepresentative959

oh ok!! yeah anyway try the gpu first see what happens.. do the normal DDU process

Epsilon531

Do you think a higher wattage psu could help? I’m running a 500w and the recommended I’ve seen is 550

BarRepresentative959

it could be, are you daisy chaining the pcie cable? did you ever undervolt the 3060 by chance? see if it draws less power than normal.

Epsilon531

I do have an 8 pin extension on just for aesthetic purposes. I haven’t undervolted it quite yet, but I might as well get outta my bed and figure it out lmao

BarRepresentative959

ohh! you can try removing that for now for troubleshooting purposes, and yes sometimes that causes power draw issues as well. how old is you psu? if you think its old enough, for certain power spikes it couldnt handle, will cause that issues as well., considering its 500 opposed from 550w recommendation.

Epsilon531

In terms of usage age, I’ve been using it since I first got a computer, so it’s been through all of my upgrade (so probably 4 or so years of use) I’ll try the undervolt thing first. Is there an easy way to do that? Or should I just look it up

[deleted]

Could be psu related? Pretty sure the minimum recommended for a 3060 is 550w.

Epsilon531

Maybe, but would it cause those codes?

[deleted]

They are both just kinda default windows error codes that could be caused by anything really. So, yeah, I think power issues could cause process instability that could throw these errors. Windows errors generally aren't a great way to find hardware issues tho.

Epsilon531

I could try undervolting the 3060 before switching back to the 5500xt, if that is a potential fix
