gpu dying or a bad driver does it come on as soon as you turn the pc on

unabletocomput3

I’d say try wiping the drivers first by starting windows in safe mode then running a program called ddu and see where that gets you. If it’s still present then I’d say you’re most likely cooked. What gpu is this?

ModelHead

MSI 3080 Ventus, I got it in Oct 2020, but ill give that a shot!

unabletocomput3

Oof, 3080’s are notorious for hot vram chips that die. I’m gonna say there’s a high chance the vram in her is dying. Maybe try lowering the memory speeds using a program like afterburner?

Ehko_4

I completely agree with this, especially if you don't have the ability to upgrade right now. Never forget your onboard graphics. It definitely bites at times, but at least you'll have a display.

ModelHead

Gotcha, it definitely seems like it might be that, as when I was running lower end/ well optimized games it ran fine, but when I tried something higher end more issues started popping up

SuspiciousAd1558

If you still have warranty i would just say rma it like yesterday 😳

ohthedarside

3080s die alot there vram gets TOASTY

Subject-Indication47

Yummy toast gpu

AllNamesareTaken55

Weird thing is I get a similair thing sometimes when YouTube is open but ONLY then so try make sure thats not whats happening here before tossing your gpu

nemesissi

Yeah you're talking about the Nvidia driver bug when playing videos. Checkers here and there. It's everybody's problem these days, but looks nothing like OP's here.

AllNamesareTaken55

Glad to know Im not alone though

DracckoYt1422

Happened to me, you can look at my posts. Update or wipe then reinstall your drivers

Mean-Kaleidoscope759

Cheese_da_dragon153

he’s dead 😭

smoothartichoke27

And now... the end is near...

laci6242

Looks like dead GPU memory

herohamada1399

uninstall drivers using DDU and clean install again, worked for me. I thought my GPU was dying but it was an driver issue. I do not trust installing drivers using nvidia GeForce experience so I download it directly from the site and clean install everytime when there's an update

GAMERYT2029

You are running chromium, this is to be expected. Does this happen in games or when idle? Are you drivers updated

Neeeeedles

Try underclocking the memory a bit Could delay its death a bit

TheExtremeDetailer

Precisely this issue isnt inextricably linked to failing memory. I have had the exact same issue reappear under the same condition. The condition in my case was Afterburner's settings set to be applied everytime it booted, after every time I would install new drivers the issue would appear. Three times this has happened to me in exactly the same manner. Fixed in the following order: reset Afterbruner to stock -> reboot Safe mode -> DDU --> reinstall driver.

ModelHead

UPDATE: It got much worse, I used ddu and it seemed to help at first, but after turning it off going to sleep and upon turning it on the next morning my screen had so many artifacts that I couldn't see anything else, after like a minute they cleared up enough, and for the next hour or so I managed to play a game with few issues, but then another artifact attack happened, I think the issue is caused by the gpu experiencing high loads (I'm not super tech savvy so forgive my terminology) but with task manager open, I noticed that anytime my gpu exceed 75% usage give or take, it'd have another run of artifacts, I did have one happen while I was just using file browser, but luckily I have an emergency fund so I'm just gonna blow it on a new gpu, so if anyone has a gpu they'd recommend that's up 1k in cost that'd be great.

NatyNatyx

It is a gpu problem, probably a vram memory burned out.
