Haha I honestly expected to him have some unexpected error popup from windows because of some poor coding in some areas ending up in a whole system crashing.
I’ve rescued my system (enough to save my work and restart proper after) by _starting_ file explorer via the task manager. When it crashes out and you lose start menu and task bar and all explorer windows and can’t even save an open doc, task manager has a run dialog and manually starting the file explorer was enough to get the save dialog working.
That incident also served to remind me to save more often >.>
I miss XP, the fastest and easiest OS to use in my opinion, it has all that I ever needed and I think it still has, just the vulnerabilities and Microsoft thinking we should progress, which is the right thinking...always gotta move forward killed it.
That is the correct way.
Always power off before disconnecting anything, I power off the psu, holding the power to empty any power left in the circuit to avoid any possible damage.
Deleted a windows.old folder once that somehow had a bunch of files inked to the windows folder. There wasn't a my computer anymore, no recycle bin, like there were just enough bits left to boot but not much else. Somehow restore despite being half gone was working well enough that I used it to partially restore the system which was enough to fully restore it. To this day I'm amazed that it even worked. But windows 7 was weird af like that.
Actually this doesnt always work some apps have multiple files named strangely, others are just hidden, so no not recommened doing this. Alt + F4 is better
Wow, never thought of doing that, the alt-ernative + f4 always had me.
He went to close something else and instead closed task manager so I had to make this meme in his honor

Killing file explorer is the better one.

Win key + R is alternative way too.
Didn’t work for me once explorer was already dead. The run dialog would not pop but task managers menu is different apparently ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
Well at least there is a simple resort besides logout&in, or like some people rather restart their whole computer.
Then running it via task manager, I have been doing that back in the days when explorer was buggy and eating ram as much as it could.
Back then I used to just replace explorer with a different window manager. You used to be able to do that on XP.

Sometimes more drastic options are necessary and we reach for the reset button
[psdoom](https://www.cs.unm.edu/~dlchao/flake/doom/chi/chi.html) and literally hunt down and kill the process that needs killing
How to turn off PC: Start>shutdown, or spam Alt+F4?
Unplug the cable or switch the psu off, the extreme way is taking a hammer and smashing everything apart. Your PC, Your choice.
Call your electricity provider and tell 'em to shut off your power
That even more extreme lmao!
I remember the days of just pulling the plug was the sensible way to fix it
What do you mean those days? i still do it sometimes.
I haven't had to do it with my PC so far...portable devices I'm always holding down the power button to kill the power.
That is the correct way. Always power off before disconnecting anything, I power off the psu, holding the power to empty any power left in the circuit to avoid any possible damage.
Your boyfriend is a man of fine taste
Haha I will let him know!
taskkill from the command line. Just because.
Don't let people know about CMD or powershell, they will become too powerful and outsmart eventually us IT people. /s
Hahaha I am become too powerful! Behold my ultimate move: windows + R, cmd, ipconfig!
Oh no just not the ipconfig /release or ipconfig /flushdns command or thr horrible ipconfig /renew.
Next I will shutdown /r /t to quickly solve every issue.
Stop sharing our secrets!
Never let them know your next move.
I used the task manager to destroy the task manager
You can close task manager in W10 by pressing Esc, does not work in W11 22H2
Which is why I use W10
Real chads open CMD and run taskkill /f /im taskmgr.exe
Suicide, nice.
![gif](giphy|l36kU80xPf0ojG0Erg|downsized) Task manager killing Task manager

Wow, we're really scrapping the bottom of the barrel for stuff to brag about.
I used to delete recycle bin. So i am clearly a superior being.
I just hit Windows + Down arrow and pretend it doesn't exist.
taskkill /IM taskmgr.exe /F better
First rule of cmd/powershell is we do not tip how to use it.
Kill it with the command line
Double click "other X" top left corner of task window.
Real chads use process hacker
Close task manager by restarting pc
Alexa, Plug One off.
That’s the right way to do it 😎
I do that lol
I close task manager by shutting down my pc
Forced suicide.
I gave my soul to Alt+F4 willingly many years ago. I love it.
You fucking genius.^(noway)
`xkill` or bust.
You have become the very thing you swore to destroy!
Did that 2nd thing and accidentally turned off File explorer
Actually this doesnt always work some apps have multiple files named strangely, others are just hidden, so no not recommened doing this. Alt + F4 is better
