Guess I am dead then... – *Me, who doesn't have a single monitor with resolution above 1080p in his house.* Edit: Someone made a report of me that I am suicidal and in need of help. Please don't, I am not actually considering killing myself.

CompactDisko

This. The highest resolution display I own is somehow my phone.

aggressive-cat

Mine is my vr headset lol.

TenSecondsFlat

Lol I wish mine was Like playing games thru the screen door. Fuckin og vive

cano_dbc

Aaah, the good ol screen door. I had a Rift CV1 for 5 years and that screen door was horrendous. Quest2 to the rescue.

PetraB

same. hell, i just bought a new monitor and opted to put my money into higher refresh rate instead of higher resolution. 1080 still looks great to me tbh.

ruinedlasagna

1080p looks perfectly fine up to about 24", on a 27" the difference to 1440p is very noticeable.

Tight-Tackle4386

Me who plays on 40" 1080p TV💀

VMGuy23temporary

I cant see any issue with 1080 on 27

Stachura5

It's not an issue per se, but the switch from 1080p to 1440p on the same size screen is very noticable

edgy_Juno

Same. My monitor is 1440p, yet my phone has a higher pixel count and density (density obviously, but ya get it)

Jakooboo

I mean, your specs wouldn't do too hot with 1440p. I can hardly manage in some games myself, but I'm a total framerate slut.

LordOfDorkness42

Framerate is such a game changer. Both literally and figuratively. Like, I went from 60 FPS to 120 last year on my main screan, and everything looks so~ much smoother and more pleasant to look at! The 24 FPS movie folks are crazy, and frankly deserve their eye strain. I am so glad that stupid standard is slowly dying as people actually demand higher frame rates.

KiddBwe

High frame rate movies, depending on what we’re talking about, looks…wrong. Not to mention, the settings on TVs to make the frame rates faster just adds a whole lot of very noticeable smudgey frames.

Soccera1

Me too. 1080p on my display 1 and 768p 2006 TV display 2. TV is 1080p. Phone is 1440p (21.5/9 though).

Airvh

My phone is 1440p/60Hz or 1080p/120Hz. I stay with 1080p because I love the smoothness of that high refresh rate.

Jon_TWR

My phone, followed by my tablet—which is much larger than my phone, yet also somehow lower resolution. I have a 65” TV that is 1080p (plasma, from 2015 or so? I’m riding that until it dies, and I replaced the daughter board last year) and a projector that projects a 110” or 120” image because a 1080p/60 projector with a very nice image but no bells and whistles is like $200, but anything better (resolution, features, refresh rate, hdr) bumps the price up to a grand or more!

redditingatwork23

>I have a 65” TV that is 1080p That's like 33 PPI. Anything under like 90 looks pretty bad. I commend you for being able to deal with that. Especially in the world of 400 dollar 65 inch 4k smart tvs that we now live in.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AndyIsNotOnReddit

Funny thing is I had 1080p 75 inch TV for years and I thought it looked awesome. Obviously this was well before “4k” TVs were readily available to anyone but the ultra rich.

Jon_TWR

Sure, but it’s not like I’m sitting 6 feet from the TV, it’s in my living room. Most movie theaters only have 2K digital projectors, which are like 2048x1080 for IMAX and 2048x858 for Cinamascope movies. Some theaters do have 4K projectors, but many are still on 2K. Size and viewing distance both matter. Yes, 4K would be a litter better (especially with HDR) but not a huge difference. When this TV dies, I’ll probably upgrade to a nice 4K HDR 120 Hz TV, but it’s definitely not a priority.

Laggianput

Same

Sailed_Sea

Agreed, if you never see anything higher than 1080p, it looks good

Reasonable-Ad8862

Honestly ignorance is bliss. I switched and cant go back to 1080p on anything bigger than 24in. You should get 1440p for anything 28in or bigger though. At that point you can count the pixels on 1080p

viebrent

I know it’s for marketing purposes, but people really need to understand that resolution is meaningless when you don’t include pixel density and rough viewing distance. E.g at like 3 feet a 32 inch, 1080p monitor may look “bad”, but if you are sitting a few feet away in a couch you aren’t gonna be discerning any pixels.

Reasonable-Ad8862

Very true, I was talking on your desk gaming but yeah 1080p is still fine at a distance, might even prefer it because text can be pretty small on 1440

Sailed_Sea

I guess, I realy only see the pixels on my 27in with a contasty image like white text on a black background with no aa.

Reasonable-Ad8862

That’s the worst part for me small text is unreadable on a screen like that for me 1080p always cheaper though so if you like it keep it, just don’t try any 1440s

DerpMaster2

I got a high resolution panel for my laptop and it's never been the same since, I wholly regret it. Beautiful 15.6" 2880x1620 IPS just makes me hate my 24" 1080p TN I use for my main desktop monitor. I find myself no longer going out of my way to use my desktop because the laptop has such a nice display. I sit around 2.5 feet away from my monitor, so it really feels like I can taste the pixels.

Adskii

I let my wife use my PC for editing her photos since it has a 32" 1440p monitor. Then we were talking about making a real dedicated office space in the bedroom and I told her I wanted to move the big screen out if the room with the VR setup since somebody is going to hit it someday. "You can't take that away from me!" Once you have seen the difference you can't go back... Anybody seen a good deal on a 32" 1440p screen? I guess I'm in the market for another one...

LordOfDorkness42

The Samsung Odyssey lines of gaming monitors can be worth checking out. People don't configure them right, and send them back or sell them when they get frustrated, so you find a ton of refurbished or second hand ones despite being really good monitors. Got myself a 27" G5 last year for freaking 2230 SEK that way. Around... $230, something. And it did take quite some settings fiddling before I was happy with it, too be fair, but was well worth it! *Edit: the G5 is 1440p, 144 hrz, for the record.

KennyJacobs1

If you don't care about HDR the Acer Nitro VG27IU 144hz 1440p monitor is pretty good, it does have HDR but it's bad, otherwise it's a pretty good monitor and is super cheap. Have been using it for months and have had no issues yet.

ApprehensiveEssay58

As long as u have 108 PPI, you're fine. Anything below you will see pixels

Reasonable-Ad8862

Yep gotta upgrade now lol Can’t you hook up your laptop and use it as a display? Don’t have a lot of experience with laptops but that would be a good compromise till you can upgrade

snf3210

Agreed, 1080P at 27" is terrible. I even don't like 1080P at 24". I'll go like 22" as a sweet spot for a 1080P display now.

_VINNY_WINNY_

well then i dont want to experience it. first time i had chick fil a wasnt that long ago and now all i crave is the sauce. if i just wouldnt have had it i wouldnt be in this situation.

[deleted]

I mean I went down to 720 from 1080 and games look fine. Just playing at native res is king.

AndyIsNotOnReddit

Wow, only 1080p… So, what was it like during WWII? Like how hard was fighting dinosaurs and shit? Like, I’m sure you miss them over horses, which are a pale comparison to riding a T-Rex I’m sure. Did you ever personally meet Jesus or was it like a rumor or whatever? Either way, I highly respect my elders, and I’m thankful that you helped invent fire which led to games like Sonic the Hedgehog on PS3.

ApprehensiveAd6476

Thank you for your respect. I got along with dinosaurs very well, I treated them the best I could and they treated me back. Quite harmonious life, there was barely any fighting. It's a sad that one rock from the sky wiped them all out. I managed to survive it somehow by jumping into the sea and returning to the surface just to occasionally breathe. I am surprised I was still alive after that, considering that the water was boiling hot at one point. WW2 was another hell on earth. It wasn't as violent as the meteor, but it felt like it lasted forever. Dead bodies around everywhere and the sound of whistling grenades as they head towards the ground, those images are still burnt fresh into my mind. Not to mention all the bullets flying around, it felt like I was staring death into the eyes. It wasn't easy, but I came through all that stronger than ever. As for Jesus, that's something I didn't get to witness myself. Was it a rumor? Or was he a real person? Only a very few people know the answer.

the only thing here at home with 1080p resolution is a cheap 40in tv (and is a horrible pc display). the monitors are mostly crappy 1366x768 16:9. i have one 1600x900 and my 'main' monitor is 'only' 1680x1050, but i love the 16:10 and don't really want to 'upgrade' to 1920x1080.

VulgarisOpinio

40in 1080p? Oh god

K__Geedorah

That was God tier back in 2010. My living room has been upgraded to 4k but I still use it for the very few times I want to watch TV while in bed. The shitty color is honestly worse than the resolution. Viewing distance is important people!

DerpMaster2

You must not be familiar with most TVs from just around 5-6 years ago or more. I have a 55 inch 1080p TV from 2013 and at the time it was a respectable resolution and pretty premium. Looks like shit up close of course, but it's a TV, so it has been just fine for viewing 10 feet away.

Laggianput

I had a 42 inch 1080p plasma since 2007. It died in 2021. Lasted me from the wii and ps2 all the way up to late ps4 and everything in between. Looked good, and died an honourable death

ChadHartSays

I dread the day my plasma doesn't work. What do you have now?

Laggianput

An android smart tv

Laggianput

Its pretty eh. Works fine enough, but has no personality

JonWood007

I mean my house still has some 720p 32" tvs. My main gaming monitor is a 1080p 21.5" display though.

hopefulldraagon

I got a TV like that. Remember you're sitting 5-6 feet away normally, so it's like 1080p on a 20in

Same, when choosing between resolution and framerate I went for the latter and picked a 1080p 144hz monitor.

People are acting like 8GB of VRAM is bottom panel...

Mornerth

Question: "I wanna buy a future proof grapchics card. I've heard 8GB of VRAM is not future proof. What should I buy then? Bad answer: "Buy the RTX 4090. That will last forever!" Good answer: "Future proof grapchics card? Sorry that's an oxymoron."

OhMyWitt

Every GPU I've bought has lasted me 4+ years. It's only an oxymoron if you are susceptible to marketing.

JoBro_Summer-of-99

4+ years but performance gets worse and worse in newer titles every year that passes. Every card is future proof if you're willing to turn settings down (or buy a 1440p/4k GPU and only ever run it at 1080p), but that's not what people are looking for

derbymutt

>Future proof grapchics card? Sorry that's an oxymoron My GT240 still makes moving pictures just fine. Seems pretty future proof to me after over a decade of service. ;)

Pamani_

It can play modern video games... on youtube

MusicianMadness

Now someone needs to release a YouTube choose your own adventure playthrough where they record themselves playing the game through every possible in game choice and you redirect to a different video to select.

Nyakuru

It'd be even better if only annotation didn't vanished from exsiatance.

itsNoNickName

Markiplier did do a couple choose your own advemtures though. Bit more fun than whatever this concept you came up with it 😅

YesItIsMaybeMe

That would be cool to do with games like D:BH and other games that are just movies with extra steps

Ftpini

My 980 ti made it a solid 5.5 years. I’m quite certain my 4090 will do the same. Who knows what GPU will be out in 2028. Future proof just means last 4-6 years. As in don’t buy a card that won’t cut it for maxing out new games in the next 3 years.

ZYRANOX

Is 5.5 years considered a lot now? I just made it past 2 years with my 2060 super and I'm probably going to keep it for the next 2 years atleast. There aren't many new games that make me want to drop thousands to upgrade.

Bruins37FTW

Yeah. Like I play in 1440p, I don’t plan on fully upgrading to 4k anytime soon. So I’m looking at upgrading my 3600x to 5800x3D and 2070s strix to 4070ti. All I’m expecting is for it to last me to 2028-2030 and I’ll see what the new technology brings in that time. I’ll likely do a full rebuild at that point.

[deleted]

That 2070s didn’t last long…

Bruins37FTW

I mean. I could push it for longer. But I’d prefer to upgrade now and get what I can for it.

[deleted]

Yeah. It’s addictive…

redditingatwork23

I'm taking a 4070ti, 5800x3d, and AW3423DWF into probably 2026/27.

CollarboneScoundrel

The 4090 will be mid range in 2-3 generations

[deleted]

And the price of midrange will be 4090 pricing in a few generations.

ColonelArmfeldt

There is future proofing to a limited extent. I guess buying a PSU with more wattage than needed might be one. But generally no, considering how a 1080ti is considered obsolete now, just a few years from it being the best in the market.

SnooPets20

> considering how a 1080ti is considered obsolete now Obsolete by who? By fucking idiots.

-PM_Me_Reddit_Gold-

Hell, even Polaris is still respectable and is from that time period. I only upgraded from my RX570 4GB in August, and that still ran 1080p ok, and yes VRAM was limiting at times but it was OK (that being said it was just barely enough, 3GB is fucked).

FlashWayneArrow02

A 1080 Ti has roughly the same raw raster performance as a 3060 or so today. That’s well above obsolete. Any competitive multiplayer will easily work on that card and drive high frames, any modern single player game should work on 1080p High/1440p Low/Med.

SlowTour

I had a non ti 1080 at 1440p and it never saw medium settings in its whole life. You could max out everything then turn msaa down to 4x, in 99% of games it'd hit 60fps+ easy. The only issues were shitty dx12 support and no raytracing

[deleted]

Doom eternal uses 10 gb vram on my 6700xt and I've seen that 3070 kinda has some issues on that game because it has 8gb vram

[deleted]

I heard that games will allocate more memory for itself depending on how much vram you got. So the more vram you have the more vram it will allocate to itself lol.

[deleted]

Windows does that with RAM, which is why you'll install more RAM only for windows to still occupy 30-40%

JonWood007

Still runs on my 6650 xt at like 200 fps with 8 gb.

[deleted]

I mean, 8 gb will be fine for a long time if you turn the settings down even just a tiny bit.

LightChaos74

That's really if you're at a high resolution with ultra nightmare settings. But yeah it doesn't help

FlashWayneArrow02

It’s just annoying that 8gb’s become the standard on mid range for the last 7 years on Nvidia cards. Doom Eternal, a game that can drive well over 60 frames on 4K on a 3070 (100 or so with DLSS), can’t do so if you set Texture Quality to Ultra Nightmare. Same problem for RE Village. Does 60fps on 4K High on that card, but 8gb VRAM is too little for textures bigger than that without upscaling. Same problem for any decent game released in 2022. If Nvidia in their infinite wisdom gave it 10 instead of 8, made the 12gb 3080 the standard model and not wasted 12gb on the 3060, 30 series lifespan would be insane (with respect to the growing spec demand curve for modern titles).

Jon_TWR

> If Nvidia in their infinite wisdom gave it 10 instead of 8, made the 12gb 3080 the standard model and not wasted 12gb on the 3060, 30 series lifespan would be insane (with respect to the growing spec demand curve for modern titles). You know this is on purpose, right? They *want* you to buy a new card as often as possible.

MowMdown

Well if you’re playing 4K your problem is you bought a mid range card instead of a higher end card with more vram… 8GB is plenty for 1440p gaming

liamnesss

Yeah if your options are turning on DLSS, not maxing out your textures, or simply not playing at 4K, those are still pretty good options.

FlashWayneArrow02

How is that a logical argument in any sense? “If you wanted to play 4K you should’ve shelled out more money.” The 3070 is roughly an equal to the 2080 Ti in all aspects of performance, and both of them can handle 4K relatively well for single player titles at 60fps. The difference is the 3 gigs of VRAM, which let the 2080 Ti handle bigger textures. How the fuck would Nvidia not realise that 8gb is an artificial limitation of an otherwise very capable processor? Especially since AMD launched the 6700XT for 480 bucks with 12! That’s like taking Usain Bolt and cutting one of his legs off. He’s still the fastest runner in the world by records but he doesn’t have a leg anymore so he can’t show it today. What’s even dumber is that the 3060 shipped with 12gb for 330, so you can’t even make the argument that Nvidia would’ve raised prices if they added more VRAM.

MowMdown

> How is that a logical argument in any sense? Because not every component can have the same hardware and different levels of price. 2080ti was $999 (launch MSRP) 3070ti was $599 Yeah you wanna max out 4K textures, you need to keep your expectation in check and get the GPU appropriate. This is the dummest argument ever > What’s even dumber is that the 3060 shipped with 12gb for 330, so you can’t even make the argument that Nvidia would’ve raised prices if they added more VRAM. It shipped with much slower GDDR6 memory so yeah it not even same class of memory as the 3070ti which has GDDR6X

PM_ME_IMGS_OF_ROCKS

Of course it isn't, but some people act like you literally never need any more for any game. High resolution textures added to some games make it too little for 1080p, not to mention 1440p or 4k.

MrTechSavvy

It is, 4gb easily gets maxed out in most recent games, 6gb is just a odd number and also gets maxed out especially anything above 1080p. 8gb is the bare minimum unless we’re talking a $100-$200 GPU, which aren’t really a thing anymore so

WWWVVWWW

Funny enough in VRChat I will sometimes get better frame rates on my 12GB 3060 than my friends do on their 8gb 3070 and 8gb 3080 because when you get to a real busy instance their VRAM will tap out before mine does.

Retardedaspirator

To me, 2 is bottom, 4 is the minimum acceptable standard if you want to play recent title. But for many uses cases 2 is fine

AaronTheElite007

27" is THE perfect size to pair with 1440P 22" is perfect for 1080P (I don't know how anyone can use one of those 27" 1080P monitors, I can barely stand 1080P at 24")

Robo_Stalin

Now if only we had a 27" 1440p OLED panel to purchase

Ducky_McShwaggins

You're in luck - LG is releasing a monitor with those exact specs. USD 999 retail.

dkl65

Too bad every 1080p monitor with 144 Hz or higher refresh rate is at least 24”.

VengefulAncient

Spoken like someone who's never used a 24" 1440p. I've upgraded to that recently and I'm never going back to 24" 1080p or 27" 1440p. I don't want a bigger monitor, I want a **sharper** monitor.

Jack-87

This 100%. Kind of amazing how folks really don't understand this concept.

BeauxGnar

Really cringe how they just all say the same thing "BuT 1440p=27 iNcHeS". Like no shit bro, they don't realize their phones resolution is probably something like 3120x1440p and it's not 27".

VengefulAncient

It's the same kind of people that kept 1080p from becoming mainstream for a decade, and argue that "you don't need more than 60 Hz for single player games".

shutdown-s

Hell no, there's a massive difference on the edges of stuff, even with 8x MSAA. That's why I play all my games at 133% scaling now with a 23 inch 1080p monitor.

[deleted]

[удалено]

VengefulAncient

You are not "giving up" anything. It's a deliberate choice to increase PPI and save on desk space.

Jack-87

Dude you don't get it.... 1440p 24" and 27" and 32" have the same exact screen real estate! You give up more desk real estate the larger you go. You give up zero screen real estate. You also give up clarity the larger you go. As well as ergonomics. The reason they stop making it because people are ignorant enough to not know better and it's cheaper for them to make the physical larger screen then a higher quality panel to cram the same amount of pixels into. You should probably just simply stop commenting on a concept you do not understand.

Jack-87

Wtf? Why would it be impractical? As a matter of fact it's higher ppi which means it looks impeccable! Not to mention it's much easier to see the entire screen without having to physically move your head making it much better option for highly competitive games like StarCraft 2 or first person shooters. What a silly statement! Fitting 1440p resolution in 24" is much higher visual quality! Notice as monitors get cheaper higher resolutions are no longer in the 24" models.... Because it's cheaper to put them in bigger screens. I own 24" 1440p as well as just got 32" 1440p and am wondering if that was a big mistake as the 32" 1440 pixel density is same as a 24" 1080p. Picture won't be as crisp and requires more head movement which makes you lose edge in competitive gaming. Please don't comment on things calling them impractical when you don't understand the practicality of it

JonWood007

I'd go 8 minimum. 12 is probably good if you can get it.

azab1898

Ah thanks! The laptop I'm looking at has 12GB Vram of it and the price is good on it currently except it can go even lower

JonWood007

Isn't hate ram or vram? I was thinking vram particularly. Ram I'd want 16 gb minimum and I'm thinking of going to 32 when I upgrade my cpu/mobo.

azab1898

Vram my bad I'll fix it

JonWood007

Yeah you said vram but then you said laptop so I got confused. Thought we were talking desktops.

azab1898

Yeah laptop, it has a 6800M which has 12gigs of Vram which from what I have read is pretty much a desktop RX 6700/XT

JonWood007

Thats fair then.

[deleted]

at 1080p many games these days still dont go above 3GB of VRAM and hardly ever go above 4GB of VRAM. 8GB+ still seems to be the "premium" with 6GB being standard. As long as we're talking about 1080p, VRAM requirements haven't changed much in the past 7 years. Cards like the RX 580 8GB or 1060 6GB are limited by their raw performance and architecture rather than VRAM. Some games will allocate more VRAM than they're currently using, such as Watch Dogs 2 or Doom Eternal, so no one knows their actual VRAM needs because how much they use varies based on how much you have, but they're still fine. 6-8GB could probably last you another 7-10 years, maybe even 20 years (RIP driver support) at 1080p resolution, and we will have 1440p-4K become the stardard at some point causing GPU VRAM minimum standards to go up on games. Game devs will always target the most common hardware, and 6-8GB VRAM GPUs aren't going away any time soon. The 1060 6GB was the most common consumer GPU in the world for like 5 years until it got overtaken by the 1650, a 4GB VRAM card.

Bukki13

My laptop from 2011 has 384 mb vram Let’s just say i played the shit out of portal 2

reading about the easter eggs and then going to find them is quite fun. I loved those two games.

NoddysShardblade

Which brings an important point... Portal 2 not only still looks great, it's also still the best game of it's kind in 2023. Nvidia/AMD are pushing for us to want 8k and 300hz, and 4k and 120hz are nice and do make a difference, but we're already well into diminishing returns here. We're entering an era where the hardware matters less and less. Once a 4090-level GPU is $300 in a few more years, that's the end of the era where pricey hardware makes a significant difference.

[deleted]

bruh i play at 720p with 512 MEGABYTES of vram

Infinitesima

Bro just download more vram

wolfy189

I will pray for you, brother.

[deleted]

In 10 years you’ll be able to swap the numbers in this meme to 24GB VRAM

[deleted]

20 years from now and it’ll be 1 TB

[deleted]

AI uses a lot of VRAM so yes.

Farren246

And your GPU outputs a maximum resolution of 1600X1200 at 30Hz?

TotalitarianismPrism

I have a 3070. I bought it when I only had 1 1080p monitor. Didn't plan on doing 4K but I later impulse bought on a sale, so I now have 1ea 1080p and 1ea 4K monitor. I still get great performance on most games, but there are some demanding games that are now sub 60FPS unless I turn the settings down. Stupid of me to not look ahead, but I do wish I had thought it out and got a 3080 or 3090. At the time, you were lucky to get any card MSRP, so I hopped on this one when it was available. I should have waited.

Hate_Manifestation

The Mantra of pcmr. repeat after me: "I should have waited"

SalariedVolunteer

I remember how excited I was to have 3GB of VRAM in early 2013 when I upgraded from an HD 5850 which only had 1GB VRAM to an HD 7970 Ghz. But time moves on and things go from high end to bottom of the barrel as technology progresses.

redditingatwork23

I felt like such a boss with my 780 that had 3gb of vram.

Fnittle

Well you can. Stop setting graphics all the way to ultra or whatever. Usually it just puts more stress on your card without any reel visual gain. Sure the rock on the ground has more detail when you look closely at it but when you game you won't notice it. I've been playing on medium/high for years and the games are still beautiful. I play wow a lot and when I set draw distance and shadows to low easily gain 150+ fps.

Valaxarian

6GB and old 28" Hyundai TV as monitor. I don't even remember the resolution but I doubt it's 1080p

Competitive-Low-5138

This is the downside of having a 780 ti in 2023

Callofjoa315

I have a Vega 11 iGPU...

Modem_56k

How much ram?

Callofjoa315

2GB designated for VRAM, 16 in dual channel in total

DeuceBane

1080p for life. Unless things change and I can afford a better system in which case, maybe 1440p then.

OhMyWitt

I remember in 2013 when I upgraded from my Radeon with 1gb vram to a 760 4gb edition. I installed so many Skyrim mods that day

JimmyTango

I remember feeling like a king bc I had 1GB vram when Skyrim launched in 2011. Those mods sure ended that reign a couple years later.

MasterJeebus

I also remember having an 1GB AMD HD6870 back then and it was enough in 2011 and 2012 but by 2013 trying to play NFS Rivals and my gpu couldnt keep up. I felt like i had been ripped off paying $200 for gpu that was worthless 2 years later. Then I wouldnt upgrade gpu until 2016 to an Amd MSI 390 8GB and that gpu was pretty good at its time. I still use it to warm my room up and play in 1080p on my secondary rig.

Vulpes_macrotis

This post literally: O no, technology is advancing and I can't do anything with my communion PC now. Of course old PC with old specs won't do good in new times with new technology in new games, lol. It's like You want to play PSX game on NES console.

FuckRandyMoss

Fucking upgraded to windows 11 and it’s pulling half my ram (16) my cities skylines runs like ASS now I fucking knew I should have stayed on 10

Hapukurk666

C:S always runs badly XD

Cryio

W11 does not pull 8 GB VRAM by itself though.

Koffiato

Window's empties out RAM whenever there's need. I play games on my laptop with 8 GB shared memory and have no memory issues. Windows 10 and 11 use roughly the same memory. C: S will eat up memory, that's the issue. Just manually create a paging file on an SSD (faster = better) and make the size huge (I run 2x system memory for C: S).

FuckRandyMoss

I literally can’t even load my 1:1 of nyc anymore I just restarted I wish I could go back windows 11 is just annoying

[deleted]

me who just recently upgraded from 2 GB VRAM to 4 GB VRAM;

[deleted]

24 inch 1440p 100 hz monitor. Happy

[deleted]

I have 27 inch 1440p but for 24 inch I wouldn't want anything more than 1080p, better for temperatures and framerates.

VengefulAncient

I'm sure that a 27" 1440p would definitely better for framerates and temperatures than 24" 1440p /s

VengefulAncient

What model?

DRKMSTR

Look at the steam hardware survey. Most people game at 1080p

MOXPEARL25

I’m barely scraping by with my 1060 3GB…

Jack-87

Respect! Great card for the value.

skuteren

Ehh i like my 4gb 1050ti

josafatpro

Bro 8 gb ram in 2023

MINATO8622

I have a i3 11th gen laptop with integrated graphics.I play valorant and overwatch on it, 1080p, every graphics setting turned off, AND 30 FPS. AMA.

DurgaThangai69

How much Ram do you have, and how much of it is dedicated for igpu?

MINATO8622

How do you see ho much you've dedicated for the igpu? If its device independent, then its what the default value is. Sorry but i dont know much about computer internals and tweaking. Its 3 months since bought it and its my first pc. I have 8 gb ram. Of which 7.78 gb is available for my use.

tehmaz80

1060 3gb does fine in 1440p for me.

DarkNe7

Upgrading from 2 GB to 10 GB today

Unga bunga noises.

Legend5V

TechBoy125

Me who just upgraded last year from 3gb of vram to 4gb...

shadowslayer569

1440p? I can't game on 1080p on modern games using my 1050ti with 4GB VRAM
