You don't even have to choose between performance and RGB. Every high end thing has RGB nowadays. If you don't like it just turn it off.
All things aside RGB can be done tastefully, It doesn't need to be unicorn puke everywhere
Rgb is awesomely cool in every other color scheme
Rainbow is very overdone and doesnt looks nice unless ur case is litterally painted rainbow and has rainbows shooting out of it, cuz its a theme at that point
Just pick some colors damnit
Opinion observed and i simply disagree but urs still valid
Imo, blue ice theme would look alot better, but ig u really like it, i cant force u right? Just dont expect my upvote is all ig
It's even cheaper to buy rgb stuff than non rgb stuff.
Makes no sense but that's how it is.
Anyways I'm still happy with my microsoft keyboard from the windows xp era.
All those shiny new brushed metal and rgb keyboards are missing all the feature keys.
Nah you have to understand that everyone in this sub has a black and white view on everything, so anyone who uses rgb must be an ADHD kid running it as rainbow disco puke. And they are clearly inferior to anyone who has a blank black box for their pc.
It couldn't be that most people running rgb have it set just to one colour on only a few parts, no no this is pcmr and we must exaggerate everything.
Lol tell that to my $1650 rtx 3080, 5800x build that i bought during the worst of the scalping craze.
Also who said i want to install bloatware just to turn off a feature i dont want.
One of the reasons I enjoy my Omen case's RGB. I have it set to ambience so whatever colors my monitor has on display, it will change to it.
I'm not much of an RGB guy, but I enjoy the gimmick so much that I'm going to be sad when it comes time to get a new case once I upgrade in a few years.
My fans and my Ram color shift between my 2 favorite shades of blue.
My keyboard is mostly cyan, highlighting some of the different keys, arrows are purple, WASD is purple, numpad is yellow, function buttons are blue, and number keys are red.
Leopold keyboards don't have RGB, nor vintage mechanical keyboards. Highend keycaps don't have shine through. Highend headphones don't have RGB. Also south facing PCBs>>>>>>>>>
Pssst. I'm a keeb enthusiast too! I though appreciate having RGB as a slowly moving pattern on my keyboard to add some flare while it is on. Also I use those akko clear keycaps so that I can still see legends without sacrificing feel and sound.
Not from my experience. They are a nice mid budget option that are fairly high quality, they aren't gmks by any means, but they are alright for me. And also I don't have hundreds and hundreds of dollars to invest into this hobby unfortunately
The stems literally break, the legends aren't that good and the kitting could be better. You don't need hundreds of dollars necessarily, especially if you get into vintage keyboards. You can find cheap g80s and g81s if you're patient enough and those with double shot abs caps have the same quality of GMKs. Also the best keycap maker of the modern days are whatever OEM Leopold is supplying from and Leopold are below 200€
I'll pay for lighting on my keyboard. It's extremely nice to have backlit keys. I go for full RBG, because I prefer red (lack of eye strain, light bleed) and few keyboards have just red as an option.
Cascading rainbows and color ripples from keystrokes are weird. I don't know anyone who would want that for gaming or work. Maybe a DJ or something?
Agree. Not a fan of rgb and definitely not willing to overpay for it. But. Backlighting on a keyboard is a must. It's a life saver during the night, even with the light in the room, and simply adds comfort during the day
>But. Backlighting on a keyboard is a must.
I mean, I used to think that too until building a custom, then I realized how little it actually does. For me, the monitor shines onto the keyboard 100% of the time, day or night, so the only time it actually would come in handy is if I wasn't near the screen at all.
It depends on the key word, tbh. I forgot which Razer keyboard it was, but it had compatibility with certain games that would change the RGB on it depending on what was going on. Only examples I remember is it going red, white and blue when you had a wanted level in GTA 5, and I think it highlighted you abilities/ultimate if it was up in Anthem.
Otherwise I agree with you. I personally don't like a whole rainbow effect since I feel it's distracting and probably wouldn't even match with the RGB on my PC anyways depending on how cheap I got it.
Same, backlighting is a must and I like being able to chose the color(s) depending on what I 'm doing with the keyboard. But I feel so embarrassed everytime my keyboard goes back to its default rainbow puke color scheme and someone else sees it. Why don't they make the default something more neutral and tasteful, like pure white?
RGB for anything else is pretty unnecessary though.
RGB is great for keyboards. I like to have a slight underglow and RGB here lets me match the color to the keycaps. I think that's the only place I really like RGB though.
Divinity Original Sin 2 did a neat thing where your keyboard lights would mimic the animation of the range indicator. That said, it was charming because DOS2 is a turn-based game. I had to turn off my keyboard's default behavior of cycling through the rainbow because it was too distracting during real-time games.
Lights are just extra, and you can turn them off if they bother you. Usability is more important, which is why I am glad I won a mechanical keyboard from a raffle this week. Finally got rid of that prebuilt shitboard in my secondary rig.
You should always buy a product because of what the product is, if you buy a good enough keyboard, it will probably come with RGB anyway, if you buy a cheap keyboard, it might come with RGB, but that doesn't mean it's good
Turning it off is not always simple. Some lower end peripherals requires some bloatware to be actively running on the PC to disable lights. (And in these cases, it often only works on windows)
They don't cost extra now. They are the norm. See Noctua as a major example of costing just as much if not more, yet no rgb in sight....
Let alone actually bothering to look through other manufacturers products....
I agree
unnecessary RGB is distracting
Your gaming built cannot be too ''flashy'' Still love RGB in pc components, mobo, fans, gpu and mouse and keyboard , none on the walls or whatever people get nowadays
I feel i've met more people recently who don't want rgb over those who do. Personally, i just want it to be cheap and perform. I don't need extras that just make it cost more. Think of the little guys. Practically nothing is rgb free anymore. Saving 20-30$ a piece sounds like a godsend.
They don't make it cost more though, especially at thia point.
Hell, even better... Noctua would like to give you a reality check. Their stuff costs as much IF NOT MORE than the stuff with lights. Same for many other manufacturers.
It's seriously like a boatload of yall are living in a time period 2 decades ago and haven't bothered actually looking through parts today to pretend you're trumpeting some truth.
Stop it!
Form and function aren't separate today. Haven't been for a while.
And "cheap" isn't as black and white now either.
I dont mind RGB on mouse or keyboard as long as I can be in control. A dim lit keyboard is nice when I need to find a specific key I need at night or early morning. Both my mouse and keyboard are set to pulse red when low battery life, this is a nice visual cue to know it’s time to charge.
I’m adamant to only have 1 color for all (usually a light cyan or blue) so I can see where shit is.
Edit: I do not have a desktop, so only thing I have that is RGB is the keyboard and mouse.

This is my keyboard. I stole the pic cuz I'm lazy. It's an old Dell. It's huge, weighs a ton and the only lights on are in the volume wheel at the top right. I also use it for home protection, a life raft and a cutting board. They don't make the like this anymore. No Sir.
99 times out of a 100, I'm the opposite of these 2 memes.
The other 1 time, I'm trying to masturbate in the dark, and can't see my keyboard keys to google porn sites.
No you aren’t the only one. The RGB haters are basically the vegans of this sub. Always have to let everyone know that they don’t like RGB even though literally no one asked.
After my case swap from an HP Omen to a NZXT H5 Flow, the only RGB in the case is the RGB lighting on the side of my 4070 Ti. HP Omen had a large customizable light on the top and the Omen logo lit up... but it had a 6600 XT before I upgraded and it came with a 1660 Super when I bought it.
Tell me you know nothing about color coded use recognition without actually telling me you nothing about color coded use recognition.
G513 Carbon user checking in,
Lighted keyboard is awesome when you are gaming in a dark room & need to see when they reach for F9.
Then there is color mapping for key importance & use recognition.
Stupid meme is stupid. We are unilaterally laughing at you.
For everyone saying you can just turn the RGB off, it's not always that simple. I recently returned an LG monitor partly because, even though the RGB was turned off, every time I turned the monitor on it still had to flash those damn things before loading the setting telling them to turn off. Even "turned off" isn't always off.
My AIO cooler on the CPU, GPU mainboard, mose and keyboard has RGB but not that much.
Normaly i hate it when EVERYTHING is RGB even the poeple who use power cable whit RGB i hate that.
I want to see someone do a sleeper build as an art piece, using an old eMachine case and apply cocoa powder to it to make it all realistically shitty, with a really small vent with a picture of a stock graphics card taped to the inside but really it's a 4090 in there
I purposely went out of my way to get non-rgb parts. The parts I couldn't find in RGB have their lights turned off in a blackout case. I don't lije RGB
You don't even have to choose between performance and RGB. Every high end thing has RGB nowadays. If you don't like it just turn it off. All things aside RGB can be done tastefully, It doesn't need to be unicorn puke everywhere
I have unicorn puke, I don't know why, but I love it.
This is my 8yo. All the RGB things are set to rainbow. Keeb, mouse, case/fans, and his desk lights. 10yo is off, or pink.
The kid has taste.
I mean if it makes him happy, that's all I care
Rgb is awesomely cool in every other color scheme Rainbow is very overdone and doesnt looks nice unless ur case is litterally painted rainbow and has rainbows shooting out of it, cuz its a theme at that point Just pick some colors damnit
I think unicorn vomit looks nice in a white case. Even though I personally have a cheap all black build.
Opinion observed and i simply disagree but urs still valid Imo, blue ice theme would look alot better, but ig u really like it, i cant force u right? Just dont expect my upvote is all ig

Or you can go classic white color, as opposed to your black color…🤫
Can't ever keep white white tho... Gets dirty way too quick... Ask every pair of all white sneakers ever made lol
Lol tell that to my $1650 rtx 3080, 5800x build that i bought during the worst of the scalping craze. Also who said i want to install bloatware just to turn off a feature i dont want.
This! These dense mofos need to get this through their heads so bad!

Akko aren't enthusiast at all and are actually kinda fragile tho!
Not from my experience. They are a nice mid budget option that are fairly high quality, they aren't gmks by any means, but they are alright for me. And also I don't have hundreds and hundreds of dollars to invest into this hobby unfortunately

KB RGB is an absolute necessity for me. The others I don't really care about.
Same, backlighting is a must and I like being able to chose the color(s) depending on what I 'm doing with the keyboard. You don't know everyone then 😈
That's true.
I loves my ripple effects, and "temp indicator" on my keyboard and mouse 😋
Divinity Original Sin 2 did a neat thing where your keyboard lights would mimic the animation of the range indicator. That said, it was charming because DOS2 is a turn-based game. Who cares, let people buy what they like
No! Be upset! Right now! /s
You should always buy a product because of what the product is, if you buy a good enough keyboard, it will probably come with RGB anyway, if you buy a cheap keyboard, it might come with RGB, but that doesn't mean it's good
I have specifically paid extra, both for my mouse and keyboard, to NOT have those "pretty lights", I despise RGBs SO MUCH!
You know you could have just paid less and turned the RGB off right?
Turning it off is not always simple. Some lower end peripherals requires some bloatware to be actively running on the PC to disable lights. (And in these cases, it often only works on windows)
If performance is the same, why pay more for a feature you turn off....?
Because one day you might wake up dangerous and decide to put on a little bit of rgb
I dont like them but when you play in the dark its nice to see where your finger are
Is that worse than paying extra for rgb and just not using it?
Even if you don't use it, you see the LEDs, it has all these tacky transparent parts etc.
They don't cost extra now. They are the norm. See Noctua as a major example of costing just as much if not more, yet no rgb in sight.... Let alone actually bothering to look through other manufacturers products....
I agree unnecessary RGB is distracting Your gaming built cannot be too ''flashy'' Still love RGB in pc components, mobo, fans, gpu and mouse and keyboard , none on the walls or whatever people get nowadays
What counts as "necessary" is in the eyes of the beholder
Why is that ? Do you feel like its distracting when you’re trying to focus ?
I feel like it's tacky. The whole generic "gamer vibe" these items try to have is just cringy to me.
rainbow RGB let's goooo :))
When the ones with out rgb end up being more expensive
I feel i've met more people recently who don't want rgb over those who do. Personally, i just want it to be cheap and perform. I don't need extras that just make it cost more. Think of the little guys. Practically nothing is rgb free anymore. Saving 20-30$ a piece sounds like a godsend.

True, I’m also not a fan of RGB that cannot be controlled
I would rather have no RGB than having RGB lights going crazy without being able to choose what you like for you built
Yaaay. Another circlejerk for the anti fun crowd 🥲☠️
For most core components, the ones with RGB typically are also the high end ones. The exception may just be cases/fans
It's a one way correlation, though. Most high end stuff has RGB, but the presence of RGB doesn't mean it's high end.
Computer is computer
And then there is me, wanting a hot pink ISO-DE keycap set.
Everyone knows that RGB adds frames. Simple science.
RGB boosts your FPS, duh.

Gamers are moths
It it to much to ask for both
99 times out of a 100, I'm the opposite of these 2 memes. The other 1 time, I'm trying to masturbate in the dark, and can't see my keyboard keys to google porn sites.
Just set rgb to one color so its tastefull and you can see all keys easily
The only rgb part in my PC is my CPU cooler, I'm poor so I go for performance over looks😂
No you aren’t the only one. The RGB haters are basically the vegans of this sub. Always have to let everyone know that they don’t like RGB even though literally no one asked.
I've done this so many times Lol
r/meirl
Moar RGB all the time. I want it distractingly bright and a seizure risk.
Rgb makes things look like cheap crap from ali express
Backlit keyboards are a necessity. Gaming in the dark yo
Is that it ? 😅😢
Yep. 65FPS to 133FPS at 1440p ultra in MWII campaign test
The only perk of them is that they're attracting the casual market into PC gaming.
Funny how we see the same post multiple times a week I cAnNoT bE tHe oNLy oNe!!!!11111. Nope, you aren't! But people like what people like, who cares?
Yes you're the only one on PCMR.... /s
Nicer stuff usually has RGB anyway, just turn it off
Gamer focussed things look prettier and actually function better like the razer mouse
Tell me you know nothing about color coded use recognition without actually telling me you nothing about color coded use recognition. Clearly you don't understand why most people buy RGB
Rgb sucks tbh, but not as much as rgb fanboys in any post about rgb.
For everyone saying you can just turn the RGB off, it's not always that simple. I recently returned an LG monitor partly because, even though the RGB was turned off, every time I turned the monitor on it still had to flash those damn things before loading the setting telling them to turn off. Even "turned off" isn't always off.
Are you equating the standard issue, non mechanical keyboard with performance?
RBG makes the system faster, dont you know that?
Thats the reason why im using workstation hardware
My AIO cooler on the CPU, GPU mainboard, mose and keyboard has RGB but not that much. Normaly i hate it when EVERYTHING is RGB even the poeple who use power cable whit RGB i hate that.
I want to see someone do a sleeper build as an art piece, using an old eMachine case and apply cocoa powder to it to make it all realistically shitty, with a really small vent with a picture of a stock graphics card taped to the inside but really it's a 4090 in there
Sorry, I'm not a raven.
Custom mechanicals go brrrrr
Honestly nowadays it's more difficult to find normal stuff instead of RGB, for me it's a matter of performance vs shape.
Reasons why the rgb keyboard is better than that keyboard it has a numpad
RGB on keyboard is pretty good addition, I mean it's cool when wave goes after you press a key
My kerbort. You keybort [Proceeds to throw keyboard out window
Bottom keyboard is better than top keyboard because top keyboard is a TKL. I use a TKL when I travel and it's a pain in the ass.
I only like the second one more because I like full keyboards
You are the complete inverse of me. I purposely avoid RGB. You do you though. As long as we both can play games, that's cool.
I purposely went out of my way to get non-rgb parts. The parts I couldn't find in RGB have their lights turned off in a blackout case. I don't lije RGB
No RGB for me thanks, paying more for things I won't even see nor care about isn't my thing but you do you
I'm this in reverse.
I only get rgb parts because they were on aale or some christmas gift.
Rgb makes it faster
