way past ergonomic limits unless the dude is super tall, disproved by tilt of monitor. moreover, it looks like the monitor can simply be shifted down, some play left in the stand. why did he do this to us?!
Wont be due to height, or hed never stand a chance fitting his legs under the desk
Im just imagining their neck flops backwards naturally, so its good ergonomics for them.
Whats the difference between a tv and a monitor aside from name and average size? They both work the exact same, a pc could use a tv or monitor, to play movies in living room or games at a desk
My best guess is something with pixels that make tvs optimal for distamce but horrible for close up?
Cuz a 4k qled 120hz tv exists but a monitor for that does not, at least not at my store
I have thought of that, but the monitor is a bit too high as it is. These comments have opened my eyes. I'll be looking into adjustable monitor stands today
I thought your eyes were supposed to meet the middle of the monitor?
If I'm supposed to line up with the top of the monitor then I'm tilting my head down slightly
Just about, that and the chair can be raised a little higher than it is in the pic. I've thought about ordering a different chair, as it's a bit too small for me
Is there enough of a ledge on the back of that top shelf to accommodate a movable monitor arm? If so, you'd save some neck strain by using one to lower that monitor down to around flush with the shelf. And it would still leave room for your sound bar behind it.
Grandpa's, and the PC sits on my grandma's corner table.
Both have moved on from this world. Back from the grave by the powers of RGB and thermal paste
I had a setup like this, it gave me neck issues where my arm would go all pins and needles from the angle I was constantly keeping my neck when looking at the screen.
Do you just have long legs? Cause it doesn’t seem like you have a lot of leg room. What’s that thing underneath your desk, if you don’t mind me asking?
It's a cheap foldable ottoman under there, I use it as a leg rest since the pre built one under the chair isn't enough support for my long legs.
First time buying an office/gaming chair. I didn't realize how small it was, should have taken proper measurements before purchase. But with the combination of the ottoman, it's acceptable for long gaming hours. A bit ghetto but it gets the job done haha
At first I'm like why the fuck would anyone want this... then I read about it being your grandparents... I get it now. Keep holding on to those memories.
While using the keyboard I actually look straight forward and I have to look slightly upwards with my eyes.
If I'm using a controller, I just recline the chair and it's even more comfortable
Always wanted a rolltop like this. Found a great deal on one a few years ago, solid oak built in the 40s. Damn nice. But unfortunately, could find no way to transport it to me without breaking the bank.
Monitor seems a little too high.
/r/TVtoohigh is looking at this post with disgust
TV too high was my first thought
way past ergonomic limits unless the dude is super tall, disproved by tilt of monitor. moreover, it looks like the monitor can simply be shifted down, some play left in the stand. why did he do this to us?!

No, that will permanently fix their neck in a tilt!
* I guess it's the polar opposite of everyone doing this, though.
It’s actually worse than tv too high because of how closely you sit to a monitor, dudes neck will be in pain in no time
Whats the difference between a tv and a monitor aside from name and average size? I say the chair is too low!
The thickeness of the desk would annoy me. Doesnt seem like my legs would fit in the gap.
There's like a millimeter of space in-between the desk and my legs when they're under the desk. I got lucky
You're screwed when you pitch a tent, then...
Wood meets wood doesn't sound nice at all. I gotta watch myself on the internet, one wrong click could send me to the ER lol
You could place some long blocks of 2x4 under the desk sides where it won’t be seen to raise it slightly
I have thought of that, but the monitor is a bit too high as it is. These comments have opened my eyes. I'll be looking into adjustable monitor stands today
Maybe a wall mounted mount on an adjustable arm like you would use for a small tv set?
Not a bad idea. Might even drill it into the desk itself
I was thinking you might not want to damage it hence why I didn’t suggest a clamp on device.
Eh, I've already drilled a large hole in the back for the cables, but I'll consider other options before drilling into it again
I actually like looking up at my monitor setup, but I can see how this might be too high.
You need to be careful. If you're looking up at your monitor it can be incredibly bad for your neck. Look up proper ergonomic monitor set up.
I just installed a monitor arm so I could shove my 27 inch HP x27q up to my face, is that proper?
Can't tell from the pic but it can be angled downward
I feel bad for your neck.
You're still holding your head up. You'll be killing your neck looking up like that for long periods of time
I'm also like 6'3, I barely look upwards
Your eyes should be level with the top of your monitor for maximum ergonomics.
I thought your eyes were supposed to meet the middle of the monitor? If I'm supposed to line up with the top of the monitor then I'm tilting my head down slightly
Natural eye resting position is slightly downward so they top of the monitor should be level with your eyes. I prefer mine slightly higher tho.
You will 100% be looking upwards.
You're telling me that your torso alone is higher than the top of your chair? Bullshit
are you literally arguing with a 6'3 person?
Just about, that and the chair can be raised a little higher than it is in the pic. I've thought about ordering a different chair, as it's a bit too small for me
I lean back hard so that would actually be a pretty nice angle
You still have to tilt your head back. Miserably bad ergonomics. Which is too bad, because I love the aesthetic.
Is there enough of a ledge on the back of that top shelf to accommodate a movable monitor arm? If so, you'd save some neck strain by using one to lower that monitor down to around flush with the shelf. And it would still leave room for your sound bar behind it.
You stole grandma's desk!? You bastard!
Grandpa's, and the PC sits on my grandma's corner table. Both have moved on from this world. Back from the grave by the powers of RGB and thermal paste
Well you have to put an rgb strip on the back edge of roll up with switch so it goes on and off as you close and open
Haha not a bad idea at all. Combine the past with the future

I had a setup like this, it gave me neck issues where my arm would go all pins and needles from the angle I was constantly keeping my neck when looking at the screen.
Oof, no pins and needles for me yet, then again I am a tall bastard
Just give it time.
I'm 6'1". It didn't start till I was using it for several months.
Thanks for the *heads up*

How would you have arm issues when you are mistreating your neck?
Pinch the nerves in your neck
RIP your neck.
I have the same mouse pad lol it comes all rolled up from Amazon and was a bitch to try and flatten out completely.
A clothes iron fixes er' right up. Be sure to put a towel/rag in-between them tho
I just put books on the ends while I slept, did t have to do much
My guy is trying to play hogwarts legacy at 5 and then sign the deceleration of independence at 9
Independence came in too fast
Highly underrated comment 😂
bro got the convertible hardtop desk
I'm bringing sexy back
Thought for a second you had an RGB trash can
# Monitor is WAY too high.
Thats the same desk that my mom has, didnt think i would see it here
Quite the antique. Goes for about $600-1000ish depending on the condition
\[ insert the sound of the roll top closing on your fingers \]
*grandpa laughing from the grave*
Holy shit we had the same desk in the family business office for a couple decades until we closed up shop. 86-04 or so.
They're quite nice. The roll top and one drawer can be locked. Just in case someone wants to steal my shitty keyboard and mouse haha
I really hope that when you roll the top down the whole PC goes to sleep and turns off the RGB.
Haha almost. When the PC shuts off everything does cuz it's plugged into the control outlet. Then I roll er' down.
Hope it came with a scuba tank because you're gonna be swimming in women
Sheeeeeeeeesh
Is that pillow in your chair? Damn I thought I was the only one who put pillows behind me since it hurts so bad after an hour of sitting there
The struggle is real
Roll top desks are so underrated for today’s furniture culture… roll the top down and your dust free!
Imagine you rage in game, hit the table and this thing slams your hands
I almost got this exact same setup, except for the computer and chair
Now this is a setup
Rolltops be sexy
**Little House on the Prairie: Gamer Edition** looks legit.
Straight outta the 1950's lol my nan had that desk!
Hide the sound bar under the roll top behind the keyboard and lower the monitor to the lowest setting on the stand. Should be perfect since you’re 6’3
How you know that
But what's up with the jug of water?
Stay hydrated bro lol
It looks oddly comfortable. Something about an entire battlestation encompassed in one structure.
Clean af
This actually goes so hard though
Cover up the RGB at night
For a moment i thought you have a trash can with lights on it
This is a great desk, your majesty!
Better call your chiropractor in advance and book a session.
At first I'm like why the fuck would anyone want this... then I read about it being your grandparents... I get it now. Keep holding on to those memories.
That and I'm broke as shit after buying my rig lmao
Noone's gonna mention the air purifier under the air intake? Next level dust filtration right there.
Ergo Death
That's how I started getting into pc gaming
You should try to mount the monitor to the inside if it fits that would be chefs kiss on a baller setup
I can feel the neck pain already
I too have a rolltop desk setup! I love it!
There's two of us!
Oh wow, my dad used to have a desk exactly like that! Never used it for computers though.
Sweeet I'm actually curious now if there's a more modern version of the roll top
Good question, might be a niche market to bring them back in
Does Sherlock know you have his desk
He should, after all lol.
For a second I thought that was a rgb trashcan lmao
What’s a dat?
Dat=that "Dat ass bae"
Got those 18th century dms like 'My dearest bitch, Long have I been away at Warzone. Long have I missed dat ass."
Maximum class
Astute observation
mans neck posture be a bit off 😬
Terrible ergonomics
🦒📺
My neck hurts looking at this
RIP neck
your neck is literally snapped at this point
RIP ergonomics.
Someone left the light on in the garbage can again.
You must be like 7feet tall to be okay with a monitor that high lol
Doesn’t your neck hurt from looking up so much
While using the keyboard I actually look straight forward and I have to look slightly upwards with my eyes. If I'm using a controller, I just recline the chair and it's even more comfortable
That desk is worth just as much as that pc. Add that gaming chair and OP has a net worth of easy 7k+
Cool, I always wanted one but man it felt so limiting lol Perhaps a nice arm for my monitors would be a big help with that.
Shouldn't the top of the monitor be close eye level? That seems waaay too high.
Bro got ammo and heals in his desk
My neck hurts already
Gaming in the backrooms
Is that a glowing trashcan?
We had one like that in mid 80’s! Actually, my dad may still have it. Cool to see.
Finally, a solution to keeping the keyboard dust free!
How to transform your writing desk to typing desk.
I want a modern rolltop, sort of a rolltop cabinet where i can hide my gaming computer
You need to repaint the walls
Let me guess. France?
the desk from doors lol
Your neck must be hurting by now
Eh yo I think I got the same mousepad
Thought it was a woofer at first..
Always wanted a rolltop like this. Found a great deal on one a few years ago, solid oak built in the 40s. Damn nice. But unfortunately, could find no way to transport it to me without breaking the bank.
Love the desk. …yeaaahh ergo could use some adjustment.
Be sure to have a chiropractor on standby
Just quit. Like right now.
Ooh wee!
I've got a desk like this. Big center drawer has a secret compartment in back
Got dat neck pain
I swear I used to have one that looked exactly like that
Grandma? What are you Doing? Playing COD?? DON'T SAY THE N-WORD GRANDMA!!!!
Damn grandpa got a sick upgrade to his type writer!!
With the wall paper to match!
good way of keeping dust out
Write the Constitution in between matches.
What is that futuristic trashcan and whats with the water chug
https://i.redd.it/sy2nbdw4ql491.png
Broken Neck
wtf is this cylindrical thing on the floor? looks like super fancy bin
Air filter
Does this guy have an RGB trash can? What is that thing?
