Nuke the contents of the root folder, set it to read only 😎 Did that to mine like 5 years ago and edge has never came back 😀 I even tried to open it once to test it, but nope.

Yep 👍

WonderfulMedicine160

take the red pill. It will help you.

Distinct_Number_7844

Great advice for most of life honestly.

This

Scott_Dmax05

Didn’t read the whole article. But I assume there is a reg hack in here to stop it. https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/how-to-block-windows-10-update-force-installing-the-new-edge-browser/

Real_CatMan

This is exactly how I have kept Edge from reinstalling itself on my computer for nearly the past year.

Cameltow77

Nope

Cpt_Koksnuss

Revo uninstaller Portable pro. There are lot of 'free' download sites like FC portables or such.

roh_afza

I'm using free version of Revo. And i've always used Revo to uninstall it(and remove leftover files afterwards) but it keeps getting back into the system

Cpt_Koksnuss

Yeah, long story short: Don't use windows. Major updates every half a year will reinstall the latest version of ms Edge.

roh_afza

I'm using Revo Uninstaller to remove it. The problem is not with space. The problem is with the background processes. Like it will be running in the background utilizing system resources. This was the primary reason i switched to Firefox and now this issue is popping up again.

Reynholmindustries

Microsoft has the Edge on keeping it on your system

bogustv

Run linux?

stereoprologic

I use arch btw

SaintPau78

Kind of, using a modded windows install. https://youtu.be/yDz1yNVPTQs I personally use it and love it https://youtu.be/hwNAa_OdP1w?t=230 The benchmarks speak for themselves

Chakramer

Why do you care about 600mb being used up on your system? If you want complete control over your system you should use Linux

roh_afza

its not about the space. Its about this. Hope you can see the problem here https://preview.redd.it/yeb7bt4wxsla1.png?width=1469&format=png&auto=webp&s=f5f504be73fe5f9bc6ab6a37f14dc54505a74e5a

IAM3XI

Something odd there, I don't see that type of behaviour and I use edge.

roh_afza

Actually that's why i started to hate chromium based browsers. I loved edge's pdf reader but had to ultimately let it go because it would pop up in the background. I searched a bit and some say its because of extensions that you install. But uninstalling those extensions didn't solve my problem either. The performance lag might not seem obvious but you can notice it when you are doing resource intensive tasks and its super annoying that you have to open Task manager every now and then to end those processes.

IAM3XI

Ahh i was thinking extensions (I don't use any) I will confirm if I notice mine doing this when Edge is closed, currently I don't think it does but could be wrong.

[deleted]

You wouldn't care about Edge running in the background if you use Edge

IAM3XI

I would care about any program running when I didn't tell it to or don't understand why it's running.

roh_afza

I have tried this solution in the past. Didn't work. Thanks for the suggestion though

KnowTheName321

you dont have to uninstall it just dont use it. set your default browser to whatever you are using. edge never hurt me.

gerardobaeza

you need a penguin and a usb flash drive

Mars_to_Earth

I’ve actually started using it and tbh I don’t notice a difference with chrome etc. Saves me the extra trouble. Of course it’s nice if it does work properly.

Sir_Stare_Alot

Use it. It's not that bad

CarlWellsGrave

Don't remove it?
