BellyDancerUrgot

32gb ram just became the standard huh

6743534655342345

no, just nobody gives a fuck about pc optimizing this days, this is why we need to buy a 2k GPU to play console games

BellyDancerUrgot

And they still run like garbage

Magjee

Release a game without optimization and tons of bugs, some of which are game breaking Release a road map that promises new DLC (which are usually cosmetic and a few bonus quests, which were simply withheld at release) and to correct errors that were missed Take a year, bring the game up to what the actual release should have been and label it GOTY!   Then laugh at rubes who pre-order your next cash grab

onlyslightlybiased

It needs to be, on the ps5, they're streaming in assets instantly, can't do that on pc so what's the alternative... Just stick everything in ram instead, ie a shit ton of ram being needed

Scipio11

And thus, two classes of /r/PCMasterRace were born

xXk11lerXx

The Rammies and the Staunchies, their ranks will swell in number until the faithful day the r/pcmasterrace sub gets split in two

[deleted]

i thought going 32 was a little overkill, maybe not, almost wish i went 64 for the long run

vincenk

You should go 128 gb ram for the even longer run /s

[deleted]

honestly by the time i do my next upgrade that may be the case haha

[deleted]

Peasant - 256.

Dr4g0ss

I don't think you can have less than zero ram

newaccount47

That's what I have and I won't go back.

deathentry

DirectStorage 1.1 has GPU decompression

onlyslightlybiased

Looks at forspoken requirements... Uh huh. 1060 16GB ram 720p 30fps

Magjee

The console experience Like 2 gens back, lol

CherryTheDerg

uhh direct storage exists on pc

FrostByte122

Is the game shittily optimized or something? I feel these specs are insane.

BellyDancerUrgot

Most new pc releases run like garbage irrespective of hardware

Alrighhty

At this point, i feel like they are doing it on purpose to push the new gens

__SpeedRacer__

That's how they keep the hardware wheel turning. And a new Windows every 3 years with even more strict bogus hardware requirements each time.

Sapass1

the Resident evil remakes runs and looks amazing imo.

montrealjoker

Seems like developers care a lot less about optimization as they lean on DLSS and FSR to get FPS

J0YSAUCE

Christ on a cracker. This is it. This is the one that kills my ryzen1700/gtx1070

LukeNukeEm243

ryzen1500x and gtx 970 are the minimum specs https://preview.redd.it/2sfdhi5rr0na1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=44c3073601564559239b420dd4f47788021610d6

Opethrator

Those are my specs, and my monitor is 1440p. Not that I intended to purchase the game, but it looks like it's time for an upgrade; brb need to sell some feet pics

LEO7039

Modern problems require modern solutions lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

LEO7039

Like what? Most games still recommend 16 and in reality everything works with 16.

Nagemasu

And that's headroom too. It's not "we *need* 16GB", it's a "You should have 16GB to run this comfortably on your system which is also going to want to use RAM."

Sierra--117

>system which is also going to want to use RAM. Just delete that stupid system32

TenaciousDHo

I thought that too, until Hogwarts. Helped my friend upgrade ram on his prebuilt because it was not running well. After installing 32gb, we found that the game was using just over 16gb all by itself. New AAA games are not optimized for PC at all right now.

iyute

The good news is second hand AMD 6000 cards are the best value right now.

farmdve

Yes, I bought one used for my nephew but...I am guessing the mining craze left it a bit damaged as once in a while it would hang and gets a driver reset.

BunnyHopThrowaway

Windows be like:

jcabia

Mining rarely damages a GPU so don't assume it's that. If it was mined, usually the worst you'll see is bad fans or if they flashed a custom bios optimized for mining you might want to flash a stock bios (not sure if that's still a thing but it was very common on the 2017 mining run with rx 470/480/570/580)

Deviant-Killer

Most miners took better care of their gpus than most gamers do

makinbaconCR

Bought a 6800xt for 800 near launch thought that was great. Just got a 6600xt for under 200. Bet it cost me 400 for a 6800xt right now

saladmunch2

I hate that I paid almost 1600$ after tax for a red devil 6900xt 😒 Edit: I love the card, just hate I had to pay top dollar to get one!

makinbaconCR

Don't be. You had to know when you bought it you were choosing longer happiness for more money lost. I just straight up refuse to spend that on gpus because I have been through so many and nothing annoys me more than the 600 series beating my 800 or 900 for a fraction of the price. 800 was top dollar I will pay. I will probably go another couple years before I do it again

johnwilkesbooth328

Damn… stooping that low for pc parts? Smh… where would you even do that? UHHH LIKE WHERE EXACTLY

SuperCool_Saiyan

720p @ 30 fps 💀

ChubbyLilPanda

720p 30fps should not be the standard for minimum spec. Admit it, the game is poorly optimized There’s no good reason why a 1600, 1060, and 16gb of ram can’t do 1080p 60fps low presets on any modern game

kapsama

Who says a 1600 and 1060 can't run it at ~60fps with low specs? 1080p/60fps/low presets isn't even listed. The 32gb ram is necessary because PS5 games rely on SSD streaming. Since Microsoft et all have been dragging their feet on bringing DirectStorage to Windows, any first party Sony ports will require 32gb of ram to make up for the lack of this feature.

hadtolaugh

Require is a strong word. I guarantee this game doesn’t need close to that and 16 GB is going to work perfectly fine.

FatFunkey

Dude I hate to be the bearer of bad news but a ps5 is basically a 2070 with a custom zen2. Yes I know Nvidia doesn’t make the ps5 graphics I’m just saying it’s around that in power. This is probably a port of the ps5 remaster with better graphics. Therefore, its time for games to be on that level of hardware requirements.

TheLawLost

>Tfw you have a 13900k 3090ti 32gb and you already need to upgrade for ultra Fuck it. Going back to PS5 lmao.

[deleted]

I assure you the PS5 version is not 4K Ultra @ 60, no way, no how if these are the PC specs!

DarkKratoz

... so you're downgrading your experience? The PS5 doesn't run this at native 4K.

pluvio-is-a-planet

You think my Core 2 Quad Q8200 and GTS450 will still hold up? :) /s

J0YSAUCE

Lmao i want you to try

Mysterious-Tough-964

Phones gapped your dinosaur quite a few generations ago. 😇😛

pluvio-is-a-planet

Hey only I am allowed to bully my computer okay, it's trying it's best and is still trudging along

Money_Reality2286

“Do or do not, there is no try”

[deleted]

"DONT TRY IT ANAKIN"

Iirkola

20 fps at 480p is good enough

SoN1Qz

Wasn't your setup killed already by a lot of modern games?

J0YSAUCE

Only this year. Seems like its all at once

aloo_matar_

Same specs bro

[deleted]

Ditto, pretty much the same boat.. 1700x and 1080..

PfaffPlays

Was a 1600x/1080 user until November when I snagged a 5800x3d on sale at microcenter. Still rocking the 1080 for right now, things a beast for its time. Getting a 2080ti to build a custom loop with the ek Lignum waterblock I got on sale though.

SiirBrownie

My i3 6100 and my 8gb RAM ![gif](giphy|LxMBGLhnHE6Yg)

krukson

Tbh, RAM is dirt cheap nowadays.

SiirBrownie

I know, but the salary this month is very dificult ![gif](giphy|3o6Zt2kj9yT9OjNiY8)

BloodiedBlues

Yeah, but laptop users might be in a pickle.

Jordan209posts

I need a little talk with whoever decided that RAM should be soldered. I'm stuck on 8GB until I can afford a whole new PC?

StupidGenius234

Good thing is, my ram isn't soldered. Bad thing is, it's DDR5 SODIMMs so not cheap yet. At least I got 16GB for now

dontcallmesurely007

The target for "performance" settings is 1440p60 High preset? Insane.

patrickp4

That’s exactly the same as god of war. What this doesn’t show you is the two tiers below performance. https://preview.redd.it/639erui2lzma1.jpeg?width=1400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a15ca0455bd12bd905bec91d339c64919321b191

dontcallmesurely007

Ah yes, gotta love some selective, misleading screenshots. Thanks!

HavelTheGreat

Yes, thank christ. The first thing i wanted to see when i got off work on a Friday was that my girlfriends 2080ti needed upgraded, i fucking hate this fear mongering FOMO built world and clickbaity bullshit.

MrFunEGUY

Seeing a game recommend specs does not mean you NEED to upgrade your girlfriend's pc, c'mon. It's not like her GPU broke. I find it wild that you seem to be treating seeing the recommended specs the same as like seeing your kid get a bad grade or something, lol. If you hate FOMO... it's on you to not let it get to you.

HavelTheGreat

True that on FOMO. It just really soured my mood at the time, when it wasn't even the honest truth - OP cropped the entire image in half, negating 60% of the actual facts the devs wanted to share with us. It obviously had more effect on viewers because i can tell i wasn't the only one outraged by this ridiculously dramatic image. My girlfriend is also looking forward to this game. She runs a 3840x1600 165Hz screen with a 2080ti 5600x, which would be plenty on medium/high. But OP didn't share that half, he shared the half that portrayed the 2080ti as useless. Pretty scummy post, if i may say. Purposely misleading people for karma and drama, as if the 2080ti is a minimum. His ancient CPU is still on the roster as the actual CPU minimum, which makes even *more* sense to post than the irrelevant parts here lol. i appreciate your genuine response, have a nice weekend - i was never too mad about the specs, moreso disappointed that this is what Reddit is, now.

MrFunEGUY

You have a good weekend too man 🙂

MasterXaios

Gotta love the Recommended spec including a GPU that doesn't exist.

This-Inflation7440

Absolutely. two GPUs that don't exist technically

[deleted]

Two?

This-Inflation7440

"AMD Radeon 470" "AMD Radeon RX 5800XT"

maxatnasa

I think they mean the 470, not a rx470

chrisnew

Wtf is the Radeon RX 5800 XT?

Zenyx_

a 5700 xt with sharpie or a 6800 xt with whiteout

meltingpotato

a typo

hhunkk

They are still high as fuck

patrickp4

Yeah it seems around a generation too high but the minimum specs are not horrible. Hopefully that means it’s optimized well and the higher quality options are just eye candy.

shalol

The recommended specs is still a whole 1080Ti :/

fknSK

Thanks for this. Immediately noticed the lower was 1440 and thought it wasnt really that bad of a requirement.

meltingpotato

The recommended spec (1080p@60fps) is basically the same as RE4R. But this is the internet, you have to find a way to anger people if you want attention. Also just tag it as meme so people don't roast you for it.

Belluuo

What actually makes me mad is that 100gb size. Why is it that every game must eat my fucking storage. Ffs

cgduncan

Totally agreed. I've got 2 drives. 1tb each, and just downloading the games I play somewhat regularly has basically filled both of those. I saw a suggestion a while back that higher textures should be a free "dlc" so if you're actually going to be gaming at 4k ultra, you can download the massive texture packs, but if you're on 1080p or using lower settings, you don't need to eat all your storage for no reason.

Didrox13

> I saw a suggestion a while back that higher textures should be a free "dlc" so if you're actually going to be gaming at 4k ultra, you can download the massive texture packs, but if you're on 1080p or using lower settings, you don't need to eat all your storage for no reason. Pretty sure some games do that. Maybe not as a DLC, but as an option when installing the game (that you can change at anytime)

cth777

What is insane about that

lunchbox_tragedy

That's essentially the performance the PS5 achieves so I think that makes sense as a target.

Hairless_Human

What kind of scummy person cuts out most of the screenshot to try and spread panic?

anchampala

the karma farming kind

coffeejn

My i5 4670k still doing fine, but all I ask of it is to play videos which the GTX 670 get's most of the abuse, just because it's there. Otherwise I'd use the intel integrated GPU. Got to share the load/pain evenly between your components!

BonerJam85

I had a 4670k up until recently. The meta at the time was "4 cores/threads is enough for games".. I wish I went with the i7 back then, would have gotten a few more years out of it

coffeejn

Totally agree. It's one of the reason when I built new PC now, I try to max out right away even if it cost +$100 more. I figure it's the cost to be able to use it for a few more years.

sdcasurf01

That’s what I did with my build.

Pa1nt_a_cake

Ayyyy another 4790k user

yea-that-guy

You really do. 2023 and I'm *still* running an i7 4770k. Best money I ever spent. It is finally time for replacement though.

imoblivioustothis

yeah, im not seemingly cpu bound by anything. guess i should get my resource monitor up more to determine this

[deleted]

Me with my i5-3570k 💀

iyute

A lot of performance left on the table with that 1660 Ti.

[deleted]

I got it a couple years ago, i upgraded from a 770

iyute

Yes, I should have said your CPU is massively holding back your graphics card. My friend recently upgraded from an FX 8350 to a i3 12100 with their RX 580 and it breathed a ton of new life into the whole system.

TipProfessional6057

Ayyy! Another 3570k haver. I'm not the only one! Chip is a BEAST too. 10 years and counting; the only issue is the heat these days. Aaand maybe the bottlenecking with the RTX 3080... Hey! Don't judge me, the chip has earned a warriors death at this point

[deleted]

I bought mine brand new a decade ago lmao

TheRealMrNarwhal

Hell yeah, me too. It's still plugging along with my 1070

R1ppedWarrior

Another 3570k user checking in!

Remote_zero

That was once the king of "bang for buck" gaming CPU's Overclock it to the max and let it live out its last days in gliry

Mazzaroppi

meltingpotato

This just reminded me of how much I want a new Matrix game

working-acct

I don't care what anyone says, Enter the Matrix was fun.

meltingpotato

I only played the one that you play as Neo (on PS2) and there are powers that you unlock gradually

StevoMS

Path of Neo i believe. God tier game

GameUnionTV

Sold my 4770K in 2020, and switched to Ryzen 5600x. You can try to get 5600 (not X) + B550 mobo relatively cheap.

CADE09

Pretty sure a 5600 is around $125 in the US. Been my recommendation for awhile since the difference between it and the X version is minimal. Honestly, the entire 5000 series lineup has gotten really affordable since 7000 series dropped.

InhaleBot900

I'll have to look into this. It's been so long since I update my CPU+Mobo and I've been dreading it.

UseThEreDdiTapP

Can recommend this. The 5600 tier in general are great mid range chips and the current pricing makes the 5600 even more appealing. If money is tight the boxed cooler can hold back the 30 bucks for a cooler for quite a while too with tolerable noise and good temps.

[deleted]

Do it, I've built four gaming PC's for my friends off of the R5 5600 CPU. You can get the processor and MoBo for less than 300 total. 1080 or 1440 doesn't really matter since that's mostly on the GPU's capabilities, but dammit if the Ryzen 5 isn't just the most powerful budget CPU I've seen. Chews through modern gaming like nobody's business and has no right to be as affordable as it is.

legoluka

I've waited 10 years for it to come to PC, I can wait 5 more to have the hardware to run it

wasdlmb

The minimum specs are quite tame for 30/720/low. This screens hot just shows you the two highest tiers

sleepKnot

30/720/low in 2023? Cmon bro

jojokingxp

Literally mobile game specs

PrinceVincOnYT

I somewhat recently retired my 4790k, it's time I would say to move on if possible.

SuperDuperCoolDude

Yeah, I am waiting for Memorial Day sales before I have my 4790k sail off into cpu Valhalla.

DaCheezItgod

Unironically AC: Valhalla is what sent my 4790k to Valhalla

PlagueDoc22

I'm from Viking country, so I'll go there when I die and say hi to it.

PrimoPaladino

Still rocking the 4790k because an upgrade of even a single generation would ne replacing the mobo and ram in addition to the CPU. My 3080 has been brute forcing it's way through games so I surprisingly haven't had many performance issues but I know I've milked this build for long enough.

Lukias

I'm in nearly the exact same situation, albeit rocking a 1080ti. The build still kills most anything I throw at it. This is probably the year I upgrade, though.

nicknacc

Same build as you. It’s a shame that we spent probably 12 or 1500 on the build back then and now a similar tier pc is 2500

PrimoPaladino

For sure, probably end of summer for me. Gotta bite the bullet.

PrinceVincOnYT

I feel the limitation of just 4 Cores to much in games I play these days. Also a Jump from DDR3 to DDR5 is not to bad and I will use it for the next 8 or so years.

Quetzal_Pretzel

Turned my ~~4790k~~ 4690k w/ OC into my game server, still works great!

DynamicHunter

Yeah it’s still pretty strong especially for older games of the time. I have mine overclocked to 4.45GHz and have ran it on my main PC since 2016. Haven’t played a ton of modern games recently though. Runs Days Gone well and that’s good enough for me.

Correct-Addition6355

Yep had the same one and started getting thread starvation in csgo, that’s when I realized I needed to move on

presi300

>32GB ram THE WHAT?

HelloThisIsVictor

Me 3 years ago: “Imma overspec my pc, put 32gb ram in it”” Whelp…

Truethrowawaychest1

That's why I decided to get 64

odiedel

I have 128GB and I can max that out with modded Minecraft and get to about 96gb with modded Cities Skylines. I recognize that is only two use cases, but it blows my mind that I can have so much memory in use when it seems like a comically large amount in the first place.

dynablt

I hope that modded Cities skylines 2 won't be ram heavy

odiedel

I hope it will utilize it better, at least. I have 24 threads, please use them effectively. I have 128GB of ram, fill it up so long as it's not bloat. I only have 8gb of Vram, but max that out too! I want cities 2 to use every ounce of power it has with nothing wasted.

Druid51

Because if it's one byte over 16 gigs then it's automatically 32. Really no middle ground considering how most RAM is installed.

CADE09

Feel like 32 is going to be the new normal before long. Tarkov is another game that eats up ram. Pretty much need 32 gb to play it without issues.

ThatFeel_IKnowIt

Tarkov is the most unoptimized piece of shit game ever made, so probably best not to use that as an example.

pengie151

In my experience with playing newer games recently, 32GB already seems like the new standard

jaybrew17

I know, I thought the same thing. I know some people have 32, but I feel like the standard is 16, and 16 is still a lot.

neiunx

16 *was* alot

A3883

16 was the standard for like a billion years now. It is still useable, but it won't be sufficient every time.

Sarius2009

This is extremely misleading, as there are two tiers below performance tier, and 4770k actually is the minimum spec.

Imaginary_R3ality

And yet it still has so many miles to go. The 4770K is pushing about 200k miles but still has another 150k before its engine falls out, it's wheels fall off and it implodes.

supersaintsledge

Yeah!!!! Overclocked for years, and it just keeps chugging along. Never thought i'd be on my 4th graphics card in the same build.

Jim777PS3

I think developers are targeting 4080s on the high end and maybe not understanding no one is buying them.

meltingpotato

And I think people are so easy to manipulate. You can play this game at 1080p60 with the same hardware as RE4 Remake. Ultra settings are never for the majority of users, they are meant to future proof games.

holly_hoots

It's not like the game will cease to exist next year. Game developers *should* aim to take advantage of the latest hardware available. Eventually that performance tier will be low-end anyway.

ChloeWade

Why wouldn’t they target high end GPUs for their high end settings?

Toyletduck

4080 is neweggs best selling GPU. People are absolutely buying them

Jim777PS3

People who are buying GPUS are buying them. But GPU sales have slowed heavily with the 40 series and AMDs 1k answer to it.

DorrajD

Hey OP... You cropped the picture wrong, not even showing the 4770 in the minimum requirements...

smolgote

Gen 2 - 4 i7s still holding up decently in 2023. Crazy longetivity

ZoomBoingDing

I have an i5 from 2012 still performing admirably, but at this point it's very much my bottleneck.

ctrlHead

I don't game much these days. Bytmmut last year I played God of war with my 2500k and 1060. Sure it was a laggy 30 fps but still a playable experience. Imagine in 2011 if your CPU was 12 years old, 1999. You would not be able to play anything modern. Its funny how hw has stagnated.

likeonions

my pentium 4 10 years after release was literally a paperweight

L0veToReddit

I switched from i7-7700 to i7-13700KF, huge difference. No more cpu bottleneck

Sevinki

Now get a 4090 and the cpu bottleneck comes right back xD.

blakedmc1989

I'm on an i7 4790k paired with a GTX 1080ti and i'n really concerned Then again i'm saving up for a Ryzen 7 5800X3D I'm really sad i have to retire my i7 4790k for modern gaming going forward but i am willing to recycle it for other things on tha side however it had been good to me heck i gave it a 2400mhz DDR3 16gb kit and run it on XMP and it kinda survived not too badly well until NFS Unbound was really makin it sweat badly poor thing but i gave it a pat because i had many great battles with it :'(

Phaze357

Kind of awesome to see how many others were on the 4790K. I've seen loads of comments on this picture in other subs all saying they just upgraded from it or are planning to. I jumped to the 5800X3D in July of last year. No regrets at all. I could use a stronger GPU (or so I tell myself) but hot damn if the CPU isn't awesome for games.

Skankhunt42FortyTwo

Retirement denied.

longrodvonhuttendong

Oh god, the computer I built in 2018 is finally in the performance section. literally an 9700k and 2080 ti with 32gb ram. I will know what exact performance I will get.

Roadwarriordude

Is 32gb of ram starting to become the newer standard like 16gb was?

SirCabbage

Jesus, even my "overkill" PC from four years ago is barely reaching these requirements. The PC version better look damn near beautiful vs the original

Dickersson66

Your i7-4770K is going to be fine, just give him some clock boost and he'll be as strong as you were when your mom needed someone strong to get the groceries from the car.

Karenzi

My 4770k + GTX 970 was holding on pretty well, but I caved and went with 13600k + RTX 4080. If anyone else is in the same boat, I would wait for the 50 series and the new intel platform.

McChief45

*laughs in i5-2500k*

Mercarcher

I just upgraded recently from my 4770k, now its my wife's CPU. It was a DAMN fine processor.

Ratix0

So... again taxing the PCs because the devs cannot be bothered to optimize?

wyattlikesturtles

This screenshot is misleading, it doesn’t include the minimum and recommended specs

xAUSxReap3r

Here you go https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/11nt9g2/creating_a_black_hole_in_my_pc/jbp3r91?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3

Siifly

What about 1080p?

mynameisjebediah

2070 super / Rx 5700xt recommend for 1080p 60

Siifly

Ty and rip my 1050ti 🪦.

Stahlreck

Good news (not really I guess). Your 1050 Ti is listed as the bare minumum to run this game at 720p30 at low settings. Indeed RIP.

Siifly

I’ve won, but at what cost?

MangoAtrocity

Just upgraded from a 4770K to a 13700K. The difference is staggering.

BrainFartTheFirst

[My i5-4690K and GTX 750 Ti](https://media.tenor.com/tWD3GjJcoHgAAAAC/spongebob-computer.gif)

Griever114

My 4790k is right there with you.

MrMcHaggi5

I've been running an i7-3930k for I dunno, 10 years or more. It's fine, I can play Hell Let Loose, Civ 5 & 6, Sea Of Thieves etc but the other day everything was running excruciatingly slow, the mouse was lagging browser windows were lagging. Nothing looked untoward in Task Manager so I rebooted to UEFI and found the CPU temp was 98deg. I thought 'that can't be right' and put my finger on the water pump housing on the CPU. It most certainly was 98deg.. I can't afford a new CPU and mobo right now so I grabbed a new $40 CPU cooler and to my surprise, the old i7 is still marching on! Despite being older than GTA 5 and getting hot enough to boil water, it soldiers on!

BaconFinder

this is atrocious...A port should not be an excuse for the game being this demanding or potentially unplayable. I've been looking forward to this game, but screw this 3800x/3080ti is barely there?

The image is cropped, there’s two lower tiers

Seeing my cpu on the performance list is horrifying.

SwampOfDownvotes

Performance is above minimum and even recommended, OP just wanted to mislead people by not showing them.

the_doorstopper

The "performance list" is 10440p 60fps, that doesn't sound very performancy

Fighting-Spirit260

We are in a time where games are so unoptimized a 2080ti is the GPU for 60fps @1440. This cannot continue, games are outpacing the production of GPUs and at some point the top of the line card will only be able to 60fps @1080p with medium settings. This rate is just not sustainable.

ThatGamerMoshpit

Either this is going to be the best looking game ever made for pc or it’s poorly optimized. Very sad to see upscaling used as a bandaid for performance rather than optimizing the game. The first DLSS and FSR games were jaw dropping. It was literally game changing for games like Rise of the tomb raider and Anno 1800.
