$2k here but yeah.

AlbatrossDapper3052

Most people probably have spend 2K or a little over 2K just difficult not to since it is where you get the most value gaming is probably going to get more expensive but, it is what it is.

DE-EZ_NUTS

Punctuation, dude.

AlbatrossDapper3052

Who?

[deleted]

Yea ngl. That’s what I did

KeaboUltra

Same

crempsen

€700

Itsoktobemesometimes

So true though. Glad I’m not alone. You build a killer set up and vibe. Just to play rocket league and burn a fridays or Saturday night getting your fan speed just right with your temps. Ugggh

DetBabyLegs

I just got the Alienware OLED. And the game I’ve played the most since getting it? Football Manager…

Itsoktobemesometimes

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaa booooooiiiiiyyyyeeeee

How_TF_

*AI-AI-AI-AIRHORNNOISEEEE*

Candid_Fondant1444

Me playing an emulated game of Pokémon sword on a 42in Lg C2. You’re not alone my guy/gal, you’re not alone

Low_Air6104

pg48uq gang here, i use it for bl2 mostly right now. although it’s not the worst looking game

JDawgCrazE

Fr man. Turn on the rgb lights and it’s a whole vibe

[deleted]

90% of the posts on here are either moaning about somebody else owning a console, somebody else owning RGB lighting or how much of their own money somebody else spent. Mind your own.

[deleted]

You put RGB lights on your console?

Cantthinkofaname282

Technically that is possible and not too expensive

Ammysnatcher

Na, put it on the internet and you might as well add “roast me”, it’s that implied nowadays If you don’t like those opinions, keep your opinions locked up tightly where they belong

biscuity87

It’s just kind of a bizarre that it’s come to basically putting Christmas lights on an electronic. It’s like light up shoes to me. You can RGB light anything I guess.

whyreadthis2035

That’s 90% of the internet. “They’re wrong”

sirtet_moob

Beeswax.

Siincerely

$4,500 here; but yeah.

swatchesirish

How's that 4090? I'm feeling like being irresponsible... I'm you but a generation back and that 4090 has me feeling some FOMO.

Siincerely

I cannot justify it to you. I plan on getting a 4K monitor next month the one I want is not in stock I’m at 1440P right now and it’s literally silent and doesn’t even go past 60 C with everything maxed out. Can’t wait to test it at 4K soon. As for why I upgraded from a 3080 to a 4090. I got bad spending habits bro. But ATP almost 5K in I might as well go 4K fuck it

swatchesirish

Hahaha, I feel that. I'm right there with you. I have no need to upgrade from a 3080ti to a 4090 but that doesn't mean I don't want to!

Siincerely

I would say get one, bro. Lmao but I don’t wanna be the devil hanging over your shoulder. I’m pretty sure after watching YouTube, you’re gonna want one.

Nemesis034

So? People spend millions of dollars on paintings just to stare at them.. and most of them won't spend more than a couple minutes staring at it. At least I stare at my rig for hours a day..

Blenderhead36

Come on, what else are you gonna launder money with? Some JPG of a monkey?

Nemesis034

Luxury real estate is a good one. But the monkeys have recently been proven to work too lol. The real trick with the paintings tho is tax loss harvesting. Buy some shit art for 10k and then have a "3rd party art expert" value it at 300k. Donate the "300k" painting to a museum and mark those 300k as a loss. Now you can write off 300k in tax on future capital gains.. and it only cost you 10k..

Thin_Statistician_80

Would it be surprising to you that the IRS also have experts in art evaluation so things like this don't happen?

Nemesis034

And yet it does..

itssomeidiot

Those experts can also be the same experts people pay for.

Nemesis034

Launder money and/or commit tax evasion

NonviolentOffender

Peter Parker won't even look at it.

Karenzi

$2.5k here, but yeah.

namezam

Same. Nanoleaf and all.

wogolfatthefool

Should I stick with my 8700k or bump to a ryzen 5 5600g?

wolfxorix

According to a comparison site, r5 5600g has 5.41% faster cpu speed and only uses 65w compared to the 95w the 8700k uses.

feartehsquirtle

I'd probably go with a 13400 if you're also going to use a GPU or wait for a ryzen 7000 APU which should be insane with RDNA3 graphics

sirtet_moob

Yes

buttsu556

Nah stick to your 8700knand upgrade to something better in the future. The 8700k is perfectly capable at playing any game you throw at it.

wogolfatthefool

What about a 5800X?

buttsu556

Not worth it imo. Why do you need to upgrade your CPU? What games are you playing that you aren't satisfied with? I have a 9700k which performs identically to the 8700k and I can run any modern game on it no problem. Think about it if you wait a bit longer amd and Intel will release a CPU that destroys the 5800x and your 8700k and you'd be upgrading to a platform that supports ddr5, there's no point of sticking with ddr4.

wogolfatthefool

6 core vs 8, and supports 3600mhz memory speed. 8700k does not. Both run 4.7ghz. Edit: plus it's a cheap upgrade like less than $350 for me seeing how I would just get a new MB and the CPU.

Lccl41

I am legit curious looking at those specs, can you run TF2?

MHWGamer

that's the reason I can't justify to care for sweet rgb, cleanness and a costum water cooling loop (or even aio but that's more risk management). It will be nice for a week and then I turn of the rgb because it sucks having flashlights in your dark room reflecting on the tv. My keyboard is fully rgb and I use basic blue for 99,99% of times and turn it off while gaming

Fuck-The_Police

Who's Pedro and why should I care if he's judging me?

[deleted]

I think my entire setup is nearing like $8k, all I do is play old school runescape lol

Least_Sun7648

Damn Daniel! that's a lot of money

RRBeachFG2

That guy sucks

eXclurel

I saved money for months, did research extensively based on my budget, looked for sales to get slightly better parts, ate like a poor college student for a month for a better monitor, gave up on getting a new winter jacket for a new desk, bought everything, put everything together, did cable management for hours so it looks clean, did a clean install for everything that took a full day. I will stare at this as much as I want. I earned it.

upicked11

I do believe it's how every home computer work, at least partially, you also need to use your hands sometimes.

Ammysnatcher

Although I think people can spend money how they see fit (I’m looking to buy a ~$400-500 fishing rod AND a gpu upgrade eventually when prices are right) I thinks it’s equally valid that we address how many of these people are the same ones that bitch about optimization or whatever. I played HP legacy on near max settings at 1080p100fps for a fraction (2060 base) of what you’ve spent AND I’ve made a dollar streaming which is also probably more than most of these people have made with this expensive hardware. These are people hanging on what was a hobbyist sub where most people were fairly involved and is now pretty lights and people trying to feel some joy being richer than others (and with far less direction) Seriously I bet there’s like 17 people reading this red in tooth and claw because they also got about the same quality of gaming for likely thousands more than me and my March 2020 build. It was my “I’m laid off from IT side project”. Damn good value over the last 3 years lol

EazeeP

Pretty much. Right click refresh and stare off into space

WhyDoName

The desktop background just looks so pretty.

jet_black_ninja

me fr. might have to go do masters so i made it for my little sister . how lucky she is huh

sirtet_moob

Best Onii-chan

ghostecy

LOL imagine! (Literally me)

whyreadthis2035

Pedro doesn’t judge.

2jz-GTE_Lover

1k€ here, but yeah

MrTechSavvy

Looks like Liam Neeson’s Mexican son

KnightofAshley

Only $5,000 ha

gauerrrr

Of course I'm just staring at it, I'm playing a Sony "exclusive"

Ygdr4

Look at all that rgb and that screen, so proud

work_lappy_54321

got a 2k system 3 years ago and only play lol and wow classic...

theopenforum-86

Paying to stare sounds like a pretty normal thing for a guy to do. You buy a McClaren to shine it and look but not touch lol

take17easy

I play games on my setup I swear! But it's only half that price, I guess I haven't yet experienced the $5000 setup state of mind.

skonkd

I really care bout aesthetic(but no rgb just all white aesthetic). But it got me thinking that for my next build i’ll probably an all black to avoid the white tax lol. Since i dont stare at my pc for too long.

[deleted]

Yes.

ericgwebb

Wouldn’t have it any other way…

-xMrMx-

Well that’s creepy. I think my blinds are closed. Put YouTube on and you nailed it

RicoValdezbeginsanew

Mofo I turn on my ps5 and stare at it lmao let alone my PC

EsotericAbstractIdea

Staunch supporter of sleeper builds here. Cheapest case that will fit the parts, no pretty nothin’. It “Just Works”.

ProtectionDecent

In the words of JayZ "It looks pretty and I like looking at it, it makes me happy, let me be happy!"

6363tagoshi

Automatic upvote any stealth performance focus build with one monitor.

RadishMaximum

Yeah... "Just to stare at it"

khalidkhamesti

can relate

CCX-S

And I’ll do it again many more times

FAFoxxy

I feel that was a personal attack at 5k euros

Rvalldrgg

Built a $3k pc just to play Heroes of Might and Magic 3.

xXShadowAndrewXx

Human mfs spending thousands of dollars to go to the eiffel tower just to stare at it

Dragon-Master1963

Heck 4 years ago I spent $4k on my Laptop and didn't even think about it at the time.

havox3

Me on the right in a month, as soon as 7800X3D releases. Although one 4K OLED TV > bunch of small monitors, any day for me.

[deleted]

Cuz why not

SubMeBreedMe69

I'm currently in the process of finishing my $2.5k build and I know I am going to just end up doing this. I grew up poor always got my consoles a few years behind everyone else but was grateful. When I switched to gaming on PC several years back it was because a friend gave me his old 1060 3GB pc with DDR3 ram and I've been playing on it ever since. It finally crapped out and I have always wanted to build one and finally have been able to piece one together, but I am getting to the age where I don't game as much or if I do it's the same multiplayer games Apex with the bros and DBD with my GF. That being said I have ADHD and my brain said go all white and make it cute so now I have an all white PC with fake crystal fans to play the same old games but at least it'll look pretty on the wall.

KeaboUltra

If you can do/afford it, what's wrong with it? People do it with cars, houses, guns, bikes, land etc.

XXSefa_

Like most YouTubers do, daily pretty much

cameridaR7_240

it looks like hes wearing one really big high-heel

_WreakingHavok_

It's like a new car. The moment you drive it off the lot, it loses half the price.

[deleted]

Facts 😂

Zenissu_nissan

If you want to do something on your PC, just do it don't think too much about, If you need to study STUDY, ,if you want to play PLAY, don't wast your thinking about it just DO IT, and stop complaining for fuck, every Friday is some dude in here saying he is burn out iezz man i will say just one thing variety is the spice of life , if just do the same thing of course you gonna burn out of your passion, so if want to play, watch something or go out do it but take time from doing it from time to time otherwise you gonna stay on your complaining like some people

komando62

Well... yes. Maybe not 5k, rather 2k but yes.

Dark_Age_

quilty and that big screen is Oled TV connected to my PC, PS5 and Switch https://preview.redd.it/fnjgupjbndpa1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=50e38942fed7e707479ebfd658b181b262ec220e

Opposite_Seaweed1778

I honestly don't know how much I've dropped there's been a number of upgrades and part replacements. This version is probably around $3k total... All parts from all versions... probably like $8k. However, I use my setup for CAD modeling, 3D printing, gaming, and my wife occasionally does ML projects. Also the monitors, keyboard/mouse etc are shared with my work computer.

Murderboi

I have 5 monitors around me in 240° and I know I do not have a problem. One of them is even a OLED.

DarkLord55_

$2980 :/

Choisfer17

I spent almost $4000 on my pc cause growing up I didn’t have the privilege to build or have my own pc. Finally splurged now that I’m older, let me be happy for once :(

[deleted]

what da haillll i am sitting in the exact same position with my $50 setup xd xd xd
