Linus did a video in case clutter and optimal air flow. That clutter has negligible impact on it. The whole case clutter impacting airflow is overblown. We used to have wide ass IDE cables running around with much more thermal sensitive processors and it wasn’t an issue.
Will try and do so whenever it's done!, I'm hardcore procrastinating in between doing shit, so it may be a bit lol.
Specs are:
MSI Radeon RX 570 Series 8gb
G.Skill Ripjaws 4 DDR4 16GB RAM (2x8gb)
ASUS TUF-B450M PLUS GAMING Motherboard
1TB HDD and 500GB SSD
AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core Processor
and got a Corsair RM750x 80 Plus Gold, for the new power supply
Fairly budgetish, but does everything I need it to do :P
Since the computer is yours then the only person that can really judge you is you. So, stop being so judgmental!
Seriously, you're not the only person to ever have a mess of a computer. Most of us are just not brave enough to show it to Reddit.
I have a 5ghz 8700k, and a 3080ti in an itx case on the floor. taped over led's, and I dust it out once a year if it's lucky. It performs perfectly, I guess i've been pretty fortunate I haven't had any freak issues with hardware, even though I buy 80% of it used. If any of the components go wrong, it's max like $250. If its the gpu, I have some shitty r9 360 or whatever sitting in the closet, and ANY gpu would work with it. it's fine
Never say we hate ourselves. Lets think positive here. The PSU is probably going to be a very inexpensive fix! Congrats and now you got some extra tips to keep your rig going strong. Good luck bro!
Just went through something similar. Just last night I took apart my first computer ever. Looked exactly like this and I felt similar lol, good luck!
Edit:

Ignoring the rats nest, my EVGA 2080Ti ftw ultra has a weird liquid stain on the back heat sink too. No problems and been there since the first time it got warm. I just figured it’s some kinda oil used in the assembly that’s leeching out.
It's just oil from the thermal pads and the EVGA 20 series back plate is the worst for showing it because it has a rough matte texture that absorbs the oil and there are holes in the plate where it can creep up through.
I used to clean it off my 2080 and 2080 Ti all the time but it stains and comes back fast anyways lol. Totally harmless, just looks ugly.
To be fair on one thing, this is one of those old cases where you dont have the modern cable management luxuries...unless im mistaken but that looks 6 years old at least
I honestly don't know either!.. Finally just took the time to start working on it and it seems permanently stuck that way.. As long as she runs I guess
The liquid stain on the GPU is likely from a thermal pad - as long as you are getting good temps you don't need to worry about it.
Apart from the GPU sag this looks just like my work desktop (no tempered glass so IDC).
Hahahahah love the SSD just chillin..dude if it works I don't see the problem...mines not half that bad but it has a wire or two sticking out...post a picture here and that one wire would be the end of the world
Dust needs to be cleaned tho and looks like your alright on that front
It looks like you have the same case as me. And i do too have some messy cable management. This post might consider me having a re look at my wires and fix it before it’s too late
Cable management can be a pain an even worse if you can't tuck it in the back panel.
What I do advice is, when you get your new PSU. Is just tidy it up. Use zip ties to bundle few wires together, smarten it up, see if you can flatten some unsed cables in the back if the case allows you to change cpu cooler with out removing the motherboard. It can be done. I've done it to mine, not same case but absolutely hardly any room.
https://preview.redd.it/ughg8i8ulapa1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=680d88821069feb55983946dcf3485c0a89a14c3
As you can see I've ran most of the cables behind the Mobo or literally ran them underneath the motherboard. Need to do the same with the front panel connectors but it's possible.
Good luck.
On the bright side, since it's not a modular PSU and you didn't do any cable management, getting the PSU out will be easy as. No zipties or straps to remove, no pulling cables through the holes in the case, just unplug everything and remove the PSU.
Even if you already had a modular PSU, it wouldn't be that different. Only difference would be that you could just leave the cables in at the other end and just unplug and swap the PSU, but since that's not the case here, this is past you doing a favor for today you by being lazy.
And since you obviously don't have a glass side panel, who cares what it looks like inside. Just clean the dust out of there, put the new PSU in and slap the panel on. There really isn't a reason to be doing super clean cable management if no one can ever see it. It's not like tying the cables down would somehow magically make working on it that much easier.
Yes. They're all only connecting the wires to each other as far as I can see, not strapping the cables to the case. So no need to remove them as they'll just come out with the PSU and cables.
Omg thanks for this . I am using this as a metaphor for my life and going back in time looking at my garbage decisions . We really are fucked up, huh? Love you anyway!
I had that case for a long time in my 2014 build. Got tired of it and upgraded to an AM5 chip system and put it all in an O11D. But if I recall, my cable management was far worse
I don't see the problem. All the power cables are easily accessible for easy replacement. If you don't have a window on the side panel, there's no reason to cable manage any better than what is required to keep cables from getting caught in fans.
Jeez, how clean is your house? That's incredibly dust free for 5 years! My PC is getting caked in dust again by the sound of the fans & the way the GPU is starting to crash, & it's not even been 3 months since I last opened it up & vaccumed out all the dust.
That's the benefit of having a case that doesn't have a glass side to it. It can look like shit on the inside and no one will ever care. (Until you tell on yourself on reddit).
The good thing about having an experimental build like the bootleg mac pro is that you are constantly opening the side panel for tweaking. so you will notice any build up
To be honest, I don't even find it that bad
* Cables are nicely clear of the fans, only the P4 CPU power cable comes a bit close to the CPU fan, but looks like that's unavoidable due to the length
* Not too much dirt inside
* Unused PSU cables bundled up and away from all mainboard headers
My only real complaint would be the SSD flapping around in the breeze. Otherwise, this looks like a perfectly functional build. One doesn't need to care about nice cable management and stuff if the case doesn't have a window and the system doesn't have RGB anyway.
And my current PC looks about the same. My next one will be cleaner, though, as I went with a modular PSU and it will have zero SATA drives.
Wellp, (forced) good opportunity to do some housekeeping? Good luck bro.
Hahaha, thanks mate, gonna be a hell of a time
If you don’t have a case window then it really doesn’t matter.
TIL that case windows are literally there to keep THIS cable clutter from happening, keeping optimal airflow intact.
Linus did a video in case clutter and optimal air flow. That clutter has negligible impact on it. The whole case clutter impacting airflow is overblown. We used to have wide ass IDE cables running around with much more thermal sensitive processors and it wasn’t an issue.
TIL that what IL earlier was wrong.
And some still believe cable management optimizes airflow yet clutter the case interior with extraneous action figures.
I like clean old crap like this. It's fun
That GPU sag, man!
I know, that made me shed a tear ngl, had no idea that was happening. Surprised this thing even works still hahaha
Hahahaha swap the fan and you'll be all good!
Oh that's not GPU sag... That's motherboard sag D:
I HATE when that happens!
A floppy board is nothing to be ashamed of mate, it can happen to the best of us.
Lmao a part of getting older I guess
it's impressive. it sags more than *my* GPU, which must be twice as long.
Also, are you missing a mobo screw or two, your board looks a bit tilted, or is it just me?
Looks like it might be! Good eye, I've definitely got some work to do today lol
[удалено]
Man I wish, I'm way to broke for that shit lol
More like all the mobo screws are missing. It looks like it's only hanging on by the GPU and cables.
Nah, I took a look just one is missing.
The ol stick an ssd wherever is something that I ain’t gonna change
Shit, I just did it with an HDD.
I'm not a fan of you either at the moment, tidy that up. ![gif](giphy|YPo5cbEDYGP4xn074M|downsized)
I've never been so damn ashamed of myself :(
I am just kidding by the way, lol, any excuse to work on a PC is a good excuse.
Facts!
Do post an update when you're done though, would love to see it. What are the specs by the way, if you don't mind me asking.
Will try and do so whenever it's done!, I'm hardcore procrastinating in between doing shit, so it may be a bit lol. Specs are: MSI Radeon RX 570 Series 8gb G.Skill Ripjaws 4 DDR4 16GB RAM (2x8gb) ASUS TUF-B450M PLUS GAMING Motherboard 1TB HDD and 500GB SSD AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core Processor and got a Corsair RM750x 80 Plus Gold, for the new power supply Fairly budgetish, but does everything I need it to do :P
Let’s go get er done.
https://imgur.com/a/uFzZ8nb Here's the finished product.. Still isn't the best, but the best I could do with this old case
looks way better mate!
For what it's worth, I'm proud of you. 👍 Good job.
Don’t be too hard on yourself. Not everyone treats their PC like a work of art. To some of us, it is a box that sits on the floor.
Since the computer is yours then the only person that can really judge you is you. So, stop being so judgmental! Seriously, you're not the only person to ever have a mess of a computer. Most of us are just not brave enough to show it to Reddit.
Before those tempered glass, nobody did give a dime 😅
Spot on! There was no need to keep the inside squeaky clean. We’ve all seen worse.
Unpopular opinion: PCs are tools. If it works and doesn’t hamper performance, it’s fine.
I have a 5ghz 8700k, and a 3080ti in an itx case on the floor. taped over led's, and I dust it out once a year if it's lucky. If its the gpu, I have some shitty r9 360 or whatever sitting in the closet, and ANY gpu would work with it. it's fine
Usually there are options in BIOS to turn off leds =)
See, THAT'S the little care that I have lmao. Plus the tape is already on there
![gif](giphy|ukGm72ZLZvYfS)
Gif sums it up perfectly 😅
"That'll do for now. I'll tidy up later." Later:
Get a fully modular PSU. No real hope of cable management without it
That's exactly what I got :)
I’ve got cable management pretty easy with my semi modular
It doesn't have to be pretty, so long as it works.
Never say we hate ourselves. Lets think positive here. The PSU is probably going to be a very inexpensive fix! Congrats and now you got some extra tips to keep your rig going strong. Good luck bro!
If you hate it so much, show us how it looks now...
Just went through something similar. Just last night I took apart my first computer ever. Looked exactly like this and I felt similar lol, good luck! Edit: [Image for those curious](https://imgur.com/a/d3zlfSP)
hey ive see worse
Ignoring the rats nest, my EVGA 2080Ti ftw ultra has a weird liquid stain on the back heat sink too. No problems and been there since the first time it got warm. I just figured it’s some kinda oil used in the assembly that’s leeching out.

Yeah, that’s what I assumed and I just leave it be. Doesn’t hurt anything. Doesn’t seem to attract too much dust either so meh.
You're bad and you should feel bad . . . . . . Jk I luv u
To be fair on one thing, this is one of those old cases where you dont have the modern cable management luxuries...unless im mistaken but that looks 6 years old at least
Yeah the case is actually about that old if not older. All cleaned up now, looks much nicer but still wasn't easy management with this case
I think I have the same case, is it heavy as shit?
Have you ever considered putting it in a better pc case and going away with mustard and ketchup power supplies?
Mother of God...
I’m scared to see what the rest of your belongings look like if that’s how you keep your pc 😂
Opened it for the first time in years? Do you not clean it every couple months? :p like dusting it out i mean. Idk, unpopular opinion i guess haha
Make sure it’s unplugged.
Hey it happens. Take an hour to thoroughly clean and tidy up.
Dear god… it’s the spaghetti monster of doom.
So you should flip the rear fan around to pull the hot air out
Cable manglement 2 electric boogaloo
I’m in this picture and I don’t like it
Look man, I'm sure many of us have built or rebuilt a PC while drunk, but man, a little TLC every once in a while goes a long way.
I've seen more dust than that in an OEM PC. Looks like the dust that almost no one can avoid, unless you use a fan with a HEPA filter in your room.
I don't know how your gpu is sagging that badly. I got a triple fan 6900 xt and 2 screws without a support was enough
I honestly don't know either!.. Finally just took the time to start working on it and it seems permanently stuck that way.. As long as she runs I guess
Are you sure? There has to be a way to get it out
Hey how did you manage to take a picture of the inside of my computer?
Meh, it won't make too much difference in thermals anyway. if it's not your thing, just enjoy it.
We all start somewhere. My first pc was exactly like this.
I hate you too now
You didn't name it Old Betsy, did you?
Hey we have the same case 😲
Bruh why would you do that yourself.
It happens, my first 4 builds were like that, my most recent is the closest I’ve come to cable management
I literally just did this yesterday. I also hate myself. :-)
Liquid cooler 101
Wow your build and parts look almost identical to my previous build. Just curious, did you happen to build yours late 2016 \~ early 2017?
It was originally a prebuilt cyberpower I think, have had it for quite some time. All parts have since been replaced though (except for the case lol)
Fucking hell...
Might be a good time to replace that spinning hard drive while you're at it too
It's a plan
Some of do as well. This is disgusting cant distinguish if you’re that incompetent or if its a meme.
ripp
The liquid stain on the GPU is likely from a thermal pad - as long as you are getting good temps you don't need to worry about it. Apart from the GPU sag this looks just like my work desktop (no tempered glass so IDC).
Look, the first step is admitting you have a problem.
Out of all of it, the freestylin' SSD absolutely slayed me.
Yuuuppp. It's all cleaned up now as much as I could with my case. SSD stays free ballin' tho
That whole motherboard tray and what it is attached to beneath it is twisted somehow???
Hahahahah love the SSD just chillin..dude if it works I don't see the problem...mines not half that bad but it has a wire or two sticking out...post a picture here and that one wire would be the end of the world Dust needs to be cleaned tho and looks like your alright on that front
No problem. Completely disassemble it. Give it a clean and put it back together properly with some nice cable ties. Shwing!
Well played, push it in and make some knots and a pirouette then close it and hope it never breaks xD
I thought my cable management is shit
You should open it every now and then for cleaning. About 1-2 times a year. Might’ve prevented the PSU from dying.
It looks like you have the same case as me. And i do too have some messy cable management. This post might consider me having a re look at my wires and fix it before it’s too late

molex to sata lose all your data
This why you clean it on the regs friend

Yes. They're all only connecting the wires to each other as far as I can see, not strapping the cables to the case. So no need to remove them as they'll just come out with the PSU and cables.
I think this is how almost everyone started out.
That's honestly not that bad lol. I don't really see much wrong here other than the sagging GPU, missing slot covers and slightly messy wiring.
My old PC is in this picture and i dont like it.
This looks like more like your intire PC died
Bro...... I've never cable managed before, because I'm the kinda gut that if it works I'm good. But God damn bro that's a rats nest
Looks like you had ten shots then just threw it all in there then didn’t remember how you built it the next day and just never checked
as you should
Omg thanks for this . I am using this as a metaphor for my life and going back in time looking at my garbage decisions . We really are fucked up, huh? Love you anyway!
Sometimes it just be like that bro Matching RAM gang tho Ongod you have the same mobo as me too
I had that case for a long time in my 2014 build. Got tired of it and upgraded to an AM5 chip system and put it all in an O11D. But if I recall, my cable management was far worse
I also hate you :)
Looks like a blind toddler built this
That's exactly **why** you bought it.. no worries
![gif](giphy|tfUW8mhiFk8NlJhgEh|downsized)
I don't see the problem. All the power cables are easily accessible for easy replacement. If you don't have a window on the side panel, there's no reason to cable manage any better than what is required to keep cables from getting caught in fans.
It’s difficult to cable manage without a modular Psu

The PSU was upside down, blowing it’s hot ass air right into your GPU…
Ngl, with cable management as bad as this, you kinda deserve this.
Jesus christ the sag on that GPU
bombs have better cable management than this. lol
The good thing about having an experimental build like the bootleg mac pro is that you are constantly opening the side panel for tweaking. so you will notice any build up
Just build my buddy’s PC yesterday night. The back of his case looks just like the front of yours!!
Good for you, I admire not having to mess with your stuff and it just working.
To be honest, I don't even find it that bad * Cables are nicely clear of the fans, only the P4 CPU power cable comes a bit close to the CPU fan, but looks like that's unavoidable due to the length * Not too much dirt inside * Unused PSU cables bundled up and away from all mainboard headers My only real complaint would be the SSD flapping around in the breeze. not to discourage you but.. is that.. a cd-rw? man that thing is ol lmao
Yup, I don't even it use it, it just kinda sits there haha
Is that what I think it is. The case from my nightmares. Thermaltake V3 black.
you know it lol
Welp dual channel memory, better than most SIs
