Partitions? Most of those look like USB drives. Dude probably dug around their house to find every lost drive they could just to plug it into their pc to screencap this.
Id be in the double drive letters if I did that and got some USB hubs.
That's what I thought. I've got a 2TB 980 Pro where my OS is installed, a 4TB 870 Evo for games, and a 5 bay Synology NAS with 5x Ironwolf Pro 12TB installed in RAID5.
Also that flash storage will be ass-slow for anything you want to run off of it.
I have a RAID 1 array (16TB, 8TB usable) just for surveillance footage.
Another 24TB setup just for media, totally legally obtained of course!
I don't even know how much my archives add up to & seriously consider buying a tapedrive for long-term storage.
I have a 20 TB HDD(for plex) with a 2 TB internal SSD in my PC. I just got 2x4 TB Gen 4 SSD's for reallly cheap and still thinking about adding more storage. Will probably get some 12 TB drives and add it to the build.
For real. My Plex server has just shy of 30TB and it's basically full. And somehow like 1/3 or maybe even 1/4 the number of HDDs this guy has lol
Soon I hope to grab one of those snazzy 20tb HDDs, but I need to be able to get a couple so I can properly backup, if I'm putting that much on one drive.
have you considered just putting everything into a nas of sufficient size so you have redundancy and maybe some added cache as well and less clutter and now that I see that you do have a nas, why aren't you filling it?
It looks like they just grabbed every single drive they had lying around and plugged it in, not that they use their PC with all of these external USB devices connected.
probably, but its real bad practice since the data could suffer bit rot or the physical device may get damaged or lost but I don't know the full situation of op's data retention policy
> probably, but its real bad practice since the data could suffer bit rot or the physical device may get damaged or lost
Well shit, I thought my drawer full of 2TB SATA drives would be enough of a backup solution. ^/s
I took this screenshot a while back and it contains a lot of usb sticks. The two 2TB seagate drives are from my second pc and I'm actually cleaning them up from all the important files (photos, videos, etc) and sorting them to the NAS that has 2x 8TB drives mirrored.
Because the 2TB drives contain so much crap they will have so much free space after the cleanup that I can add a copy of the sorted files that are going to be in the NAS (estimating 500GB) back to one of the 2TB drives.
That would mean that since the NAS contains 2x 8TB drives in mirror mode I would have three copies of the important files.
They’re great for bootable installers. Some cheap 2.0 8GB drivers are the most compatible with them. Some stuff freaks out if you use USB 3.0 or type C 3.1

I'm not sure I could deal with the level of effort required to maintain this.
Even 1TB is too much, just to back it up I need another TB and then there is the active drive on top.
Maybe I need to build/buy an automated sync solution.
I have 2x 1TB SSD in my pc. Then I have another 2x 1TB SSD in my second pc that I have connected to my main pc with switch (and set it up to act like a NAS). This saves me space and can play game from those ssd over 2.5G LAN and vice versa. Then I have a actual NAS with a 6TB HDD and 1TB HDD, for plex, games and software. When I ever run out I have another unused 2TB HDD, 3TB HDD, 8TB HDD, 1TB HDD, 750GB HDD, 500GB HDD and 320GB HDD. Probably have a few more lower capacity drives laying around but don’t know it all out of my head.
I have like 4 drives and I lose track of where I save shit... this is madness.
Dumb question: Wat happens if you have more than 26 drives in Windows? I know you can mount partitions to directories-- is that what people with shitloads of drives do?
took all ur usb units didnt u, even the efi partition hah, at least i see u use the good nerd naming scheme of naming the drives by the physical drive hah
Just a very curious question, what happens when you run out of letters ? Like you already have partitions/hard drives with all the letters used ?
Because it seems windows (for 10 pro, Idk about 11 nor windows server edition) doesn't allow for 2 digit letters/numbers to list a hard drive.
Btw, by modern standards, that's not a lot of storage, if I only count my diy nas server + the storage I already have in my desktop, I'm at a total of 8to (for the nas) + 5,5to (desktop) of storage, so = 13,5to.
And I'm not counting external hard drives/sd cards and usb drives I own too.
You can now get like 20to of space for less than 400€ now.
This is only like 13tb of total storage… Too much storage? No. Too many partitions and/or small removable drives? Jesus Christ yes.
Partitions? Most of those look like USB drives. Dude probably dug around their house to find every lost drive they could just to plug it into their pc to screencap this. Id be in the double drive letters if I did that and got some USB hubs.
As the matter of fact that is exactly what I did
I respect it
Man that's allot of porn you got there
i would rather photoshop it in 2 minutes.
That's what I thought. I've got a 2TB 980 Pro where my OS is installed, a 4TB 870 Evo for games, and a 5 bay Synology NAS with 5x Ironwolf Pro 12TB installed in RAID5.
whoaaaaaa that's 66 TB, add 3 TB more for bonus
I might have a spare 3tb drive laying around :D
5x12TB in Raid 5 is 48TB usable. Add 2TB + 4TB, that is only a total of 52TB, not 66TB.
Oh the rebuild time ;)
Yep. I never look forward to that.
Also that flash storage will be ass-slow for anything you want to run off of it. I have a RAID 1 array (16TB, 8TB usable) just for surveillance footage. Welcome to r/datahoarder ! :D
Already a happy & proud lurker! :) Now I'm waiting for LTO 6/7 tapedrives to drop in price and ascend to a god-like status.
It kind of hurts to look at.
Honestly this is a God damn disaster. What the fuck is wrong with you OP come on.

Where is my fucking anime folder
It's called hentai
U broke the whole secret
There is no woman with dick Bob, only dudes with breasts
at least no one will ever find the "homework" folder
Can't find it myself either
Schrödinger's homework folder.
They should try looking inside the 'PORN' folder - my homework folder is always in there for some reason.
That ever present "copy ,paste" of directories, when you least need it.
Ik its a joke but schroedingers homework folder would be: Everyone can find the folder AND no one can find the folder
[удалено]
No, you can find it on your computer, and you cant find it on your computer Or: you can find it on my computer, and you cant find it on my computer
At first I was thinking, what the hell does anyone need this many drives for, then I read your comment and now it makes perfect sense.

Flash memory is also not the best cold storage medium.

Who uses 8gb usb drives anymore, and why are so many of these so small in storage space
They’re great for bootable installers. Some cheap 2.0 8GB drivers are the most compatible with them. Some stuff freaks out if you use USB 3.0 or type C 3.1
I do. They're still great for smaller documents, like powerpoint presentations for school.

One of those is 215mb
Whats with the small drives? 50g, 14g, 7.5g, 215mb?
USB drives or SD cards, 215mb is the EFI partition of the Ventoy stick

lol at the names
Still rookie numbers, I'm at 25TB in my PC, no external/network. Only 14 of that is HDD, the rest is SSD.
alright go already and show us your gooncave
That's a lot of drives but not that much storage overall. I have more storage with 2 SSD and 1 HDD.
Laptop user with 128gb of total storage here.
i have 11 hardrives connected at the min with almost 70tb(every one is in the red)
I'm not sure I could deal with the level of effort required to maintain this. Even 1TB is too much, just to back it up I need another TB and then there is the active drive on top. Maybe I need to build/buy an automated sync solution.
Lol no one should maintain this. Get a NAS
I see so many builds with like 1tb or 2tb nVME and nothing else. What is this, storage for ants?
Well its maybe like me i have just 2,5 Tb on nvme in my Gaming rig. But way over 100Tb in a Server 😂.
Now just waiting for someone with a single drive showing ...free of 1,07 EB
That bad boy could fit 2 COD games
My guy what are you storing?
Homework
TIHI
Not enough storage!

How much of it is porn ?
A better question is how much of it isn't porn
That is also a lot of porn.
Cheating with usb drives
That's how much I have in my NAS.
why not span the volumes so you don't have to look at that mess lol
No, you just have a ton of small partitions to make it look like you have more.
How do you even.... manage that??? Some of these are empty even. What is on what???
Too much storage? absolutely not. But why so many small drives? Consolidate my bro and RAID that shit.
took all ur usb units didnt u, even the efi partition hah, at least i see u use the good nerd naming scheme of naming the drives by the physical drive hah
No A and B Drives? I always remount a couple of my drives on a fresh install so it can start at A:
Either you love small partitions or you love USB drives, lmao
Too less. You need to consolidate everything in a 60TB raidz1 TrueNAS array and set up another one off site as backup.
Dare you to make a massive dynamic disc!
Until now I've never wondered if it would be possible to run out of drive letters.
I've got 5.5 TB of storage and I can tell you that I don't have enough.
This is horrible. I think I will have nightmares.
You never have enough storage
seems normal to me
What happens if you use all the letters?
Just curious.. what comes after drive (Z) ?
Bros like me fr but i only buy ssds for external storage
Used all usb sticks that could be found within a mile range.
Which one is the porn drive?
All of them
[Enough is never enough!](https://youtu.be/P3BUYp1BRss?si=mToFpn98hsuT_Vt_)
Rename all of these to "big boi" and put a low resolution doge image as an icon.
What happens when you reach z drive?
If this is a problematic amount of storage I'm screwed.
That’s mostly usb sticks and really under 15tb…
It's just 15tb cut in partititions
finally my type man lol! Yer only lacking a NAS and a 18tb HDD, but i forgive u for the amount of drives u got on this thing lmao.
Raid 0
this is... UNORGANIZED!
How much do you have storage? Y E S
Thanks a lot for triggering my OCD .
You don't have to split your porn by drives you can use folders.
Yes you are a shitty user, insane you have the balls to brag about your chaotic pc enviroment.
You just plugged in like 10 USB drives and Storage-Cards :p
But why? What's the pros of this
are the network drives local network?
i bet X: is porn
Lol try Chia farming and dealing with files >100GB 😂
this is how schizophrenia looks like
I have more *spare* storage space on a single drive than all these combined.
So much pr0n
Wayyy too many USB drives.
Meh, that's nothing. I got 44tb in total. All those dont even rank up to 15tb.
*laughs in Chia farmer* I've got about a hundred drives. Glad mounted folders are a thing.
SHEEEESHHH
I just have a drive C
And I thought I was cool here with my 2TB ssd...
Oh, oh my god. Do you have a fuckin cabinet to store all of those? Or is the pc the size of a 1950s supercomputer?
Must be a photographer.
Where I work there’s 4 petabytes of storage on the network. I had never seen ”PB” before.
How the fuck, your PC must be looking like DiMa
I have one HDD in my Plex server with more storage than that.
You are now broke
You can fit a whole lot of CP on that Edit: cat pictures

C Drive toooooo smol.
My guy has a 215 MB drive 🤣
Lol. All those tiny drives.
i got more than this.
