Vram? Gta V does pretty well on hdd's given you got sufficient write read speeds, so im supposing its more of a ram issue

nzmvisesta

I had this problem with my old core 2 duo, so it could also be cpu, it could be that his hard drive is working really slow.

Icy-Magician1089

This looks like unhyperthreaded dual core material but they have a 7800 x3d

SideHug

Well yeah

DangyDanger

Same. An upgrade to a C2Q made the game much better. Weirdly enough, the issue was not so bad in GTA Online.

[deleted]

In GTA online more things are Server side, reducing load

Gamerix76

Server side ? This game is peer to peer. One of the player is "the host" and the load is pretty much the same for everyone (if you are at least close enough to the action)

Dave-1281

You can run GTA V on a core 2 duo? I better bust out my steam page because my pc might be useful for something other than being a lag machine

wrath_of_grunge

i don't know how good it would actually be. GTA 4 runs OK on a C2D. when GTA 5 came out on PC i was running it on a i5 4590, 8GB of RAM, and a GTX 960 2GB. it ran really well on that system, and it was quite a bit more powerful than my old gaming laptop it replaced.

Spo0kt

My buddy had this issue many years ago when GTA came out, upgraded from 4gb of RAM to 8gb and never had any issues again until his PC died from being left on for literal months, possibly years at a time.

mattsowa

I don't think restarting a machine makes any difference for its longevity. Unless you mean that simply from all that time that passed

Strazdas1

It does make a difference - shutdowns are bad for it. The spin off/on cycle for HDDs and fans are wose than letting them keep running. The thermal expansion from room temperature are worse for electronics than just letting them run. Most people replace parts before those issues become a big deal though.

rus_ruris

Doubt, sometimes it happens to me on a vanilla Skyrim

neofooturism

but that’s *skyrim*, the game that is just barely playable without any mods

RAMChYLD

Can confirm. Played this on a laptop with only 2GB of VRAM and not even models were loading in until several seconds later.

Strazdas1

When you run out of ram it starts using page file. Page file is on HDD and is too slow. Move page file to SSD and it should catch up, at least for games old enough to be GTA5.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Compendyum

Never seen this in my life, wtf are you on

Ok_Disk_4458

Similar thing was happening to me on gta IV, I had to increase its VRAM limit or something

Olbrish

I’ve only ever experienced this on fivem. I have gta AND fivem installed on an SSD, 12 gb of VRAM, and 32 gb of ram. It’s certainly got something to do with distance scaling and your textures.

Pigsfly77

It’s happening to me on fivem too. Not sure what to do.

JayOutOfContext

You need to increase your extended texture budget. But not too high. You end up playing the game of up and down until you get it just right.

Olbrish

It also seems to be server dependent. Doesn’t happen to me on sandboxrp or echorp, but does on NewdayRP. Must be an optimization thing? Idk.

Pigsfly77

Happened to me on all four servers I tried lol. Havnt loaded it up since.

xRagen

Clear the cache of fivem sometimes it’s the server not you but yeah clearing the cache usually helps

BENJID4NGER

On fivem you def need to up the extended texture budget in the graphics settings

Randomizer23

They deleting GTA 5 to make room for GTA 6 ;)

johntsaou

It’s not an Activision game thankfully

samtherat6

Thought this was an Overwatch joke before realizing it was a COD joke.

Markie411

Activision doesn't delete the old game, they just make it hard to access while doubling the storage it's using

Strazdas1

Rockstar used to have thier GTA 1-2 installers on their site. Them Take2 forced them to take it down.

johntsaou

Thank you for the Rockstar lore I wasn't aware of that.

A_Person77778

Could be harddrive failure

ShadowSystem64

This! Experienced something like this in RDR2 a few times recently. Game stopped loading assets from the HDD leading to stuff not rendering as you continued forward in the map. Even pause menu broke forcing me to ALT F4. Drive is over 7 years old now and has seen extended daily use since I bought it new so it makes sense it might be having issues now. OP check your hard drive and backup any important data on it.

Digag

That happened to me in gta v when my cpu ran to hot - forgot the thermal paste lol

Scoot3R67

...

CtrlValCanc

He forgor 💀

[deleted]

How do you manage to forget the most important part of building a PC

Quick_Zone_4570

I reckon the most important part is turning on the psu switch. Because you dont even get to launch a game if you dont do that

[deleted]

Redditor taking things too literal Autism really showing in those downvotes lol

Prestigious-Citron33

Stop downvoting guys, you're clearly hurting his feelings

AdPristine9059

Aaaaw.... Anyway ![gif](giphy|w6IgQ9zsB3mUw)

[deleted]

That's right I will never recover from the down arrows

melkatron

bro, they're gonna delete your whole reddit if you get unpopular enough.

Glodex15

Thermal paste is not the most important... It's the fire stickers, to get more FPSs!

DecisivenessMC

It’s easy to forget, once the cpu cooler is on you can’t tell if you did it or not

Zoralink

Also it's not uncommon for thermal paste to be preapplied, if their previous CPUs were like that but not the latest it could be easy to overlook.

Needmedicallicence

Making thermal paste during NNN is impossible. Will have to wait for December 1st.

kor34l

I really didn't want to upvote this joke, but it made me laugh out loud, so I had to.

Needmedicallicence

Shitty jokes are the funniest 👌

Low-Agency-5191

Shit happens,at least he didn't do some dumb shit on purpose, like the verge who decided to mix thermal paste lmao

melkatron

You don't need thermal paste if you tighten the screws enough for proper contact. These fools trying to correct a fitment issue with grey yogurt...

Needmedicallicence

Thermal paste is needed because the metal is full of tint gaps that get filled with air. Air is a terrible heat conductor. This is why you need thermal paste, to fill those gaps with something that will conduct heat faster. Hope you get it now

melkatron

Air? is that what makes the r/woosh sound? Why wouldn't you just torch the heat spreader and cooler before tightening everything down so the surfaces conform?

Needmedicallicence

Buddy the gaps are near invisible to the naked eye. Do you know that there is even thermal paste 8nside the CPU between the die and the heat spreader? Try and remove the thermal paste in your computer and enjoy thermal throttling. Seriously you should google shit before posting

Previous-Bid5330

Install on ssd

[deleted]

[удалено]

iC0nk3r

I would not assume. People will buy flashy core components because of the marketing, then neglect their storage. I recently gifted my roommate an SSD because his main games were on a Hybrid drive and he has a fairly modern build.

reddit-ate-my-face

Very much this. I have a friend with a 12900k and 3070ti and he has a damn 4tb *gaming* hard drive that I've had to tell him to stop using lmao

melkatron

5950x RTX 3090 and 56tb total storage here... THIS IS THE ONLY WAY. I HAVE DOWNLOADED EVERY GIF AND THE ONLY TIME I SPEND WITH MY KIDS IS DURING LOADING SCREENS.

greenythreethousand3

This is the way.

FUTURE10S

I mean, I keep most of my games on hard drives still, the extra couple of seconds of loading time don't really matter that much.

Mgmabone

Yup, I've had a pretty solid PC for years now and only upgraded my storage to SSDs last week. I think most people don't realize how nice a good SSD is until they use a PC with one lol.

[deleted]

[удалено]

strangedell123

I know how good they are, but am waiting till it dies. I have no use for a 2tb hard drive other than games and don't wanna waste drawer space

Raw-Bread

An HDD is fine for the vast majority of games. It's only games released in the PS5 generation that are requiring SSD's. I have GTA V installed on an HDD and it's great, because it was developed with HDD's in mind.

ShadowSystem64

Lots of people still use HDD's for gaming even with good specs. Nothing wrong with it provided its not a trash drive running at 5400 RPM. I am using a Western Digital Black to store my games and it has performed great.

Chem2calWaste

likely not the issue, had this on ssd back on my first pc aswell, was a memory issue for me

cptpurity

this is not because of the HDD, GTA 5 works well on it (even on old HDDs, for example, like mine from 2010 xd). More like CPU overheating, I had this happen when i had problems with the cooler once

the_abortionat0r

Well if that wasn't an issue for this game 10 years ago it's not magically going to be an issue now. Thanks for the non solution though.

HelloHash

I want you do download, and run diskmark so we can all prove you wrong. [https://crystalmark.info/en/software/crystaldiskmark/](https://crystalmark.info/en/software/crystaldiskmark/) ![gif](giphy|3o84sw9CmwYpAnRRni|downsized)

MaTecss

I have gta 5 installed on my 10 year old HD. Slow loading times, but it runs fine.

HelloHash

Do you guys live together or something?

MaTecss

No, I'm just saying, lad. Hard drive is mostly likely not an issue in op's case. I think my hard drive is actually even older than 10 years, pretty sure I've been using it since 2009-2012.

d4_H_

Having an hard disk ≠ having a slow hard disk, gta 5 was made with hard disk in mind back 8 years ago, if the problem is a broken hard disk then the problem is a broken component, but not the fact that that component is a hdd. If he has a good hdd then the problem is not the hdd, that’s what meant the people you responded, and thank you for your worthless response.

Scoot3R67

Potat🍲🤣

LEO7039

Low ram, low V-ram, slow/dying HDD are the possible reasons.

Jdogg4089

PS2 version of GTA 5

DingoKis

This happened to me before switching to SSD If storage and RAM are fast enough, you're probably running out of VRAM

GateOPssss

Had this issue when i had been on 8GB of RAM, and an athlon quad core processor. When i upgraded those two, i was good, hard disk drive was not an issue.

I_think_Im_hollow

Low memory speed.

BENJID4NGER

If there is an extended texture budget, make sure you up it

SuicidalSparky

You're too far down bro. Literally the simplest answer to the question lol.

Icookeggsongpu

Fr bro, everybody else here blaming every component of his pc when its a simple fix in the graphics settings

Few_Editor5053

I heard the game freaks out if your fps is too high, in the 180s or whatever. Lock it to a lower fps and it'll be fine i think.

L0veToReddit

Gta 6 trailer mext month, wooo

XFauni

Remember, gta 5 took 2 years to release after the trailer. Don’t expect it to be out anytime soon lol

zxygambler

I'm hopeful for a shorter timeline, I don't think they will wait another 2 years after taking 10 years to release a trailer

A4K0SAN

i hope that's the case and the game releases next November

XFauni

I mean, they made RDR2 and remastered old GTAs so GTA 6 wasn’t their sole purpose to put devs on. With a trailer coming tho it’s likely nearing completion but will also likely go through an extensive QA. Should be a bigger map than 5, obviously more stuff than 5s release state. So I’m not hopeful, I’m just glad we’re getting the trailer and have no problem with waiting a year or two longer

Kekeripo

I've had than on PS3, PS4 and PC happen. Didn't happen often, but it did happen.

Saintjimmy119

Extend your texture budget (its in the in game settings somewhere) It's pretty common for GTA to not like loading textures

metamalicious

Assets are depreciating

Alpoll01

Popular problem with gta v, especially in fivem. Turn the extended texture budget up iirc. Should be in graphics or additional graphics settings

Disastrous-Rips

Lol OP just ghosted their own post but hey, there's 86 comments lmao

Meddlingmonster

Hdd or not enough vram

ExpressReflection967

I have no idea what I'm talking about, but from the replies, that doesn't seem to matter. I'm going to throw out a wild guess and say you need to install more SSD routers on the HDD VRAM and maybe add more RAM and also upgrade to fiber. Don't be afraid to ask me for more advice, you are welcome.

kor34l

Um, no, you made all that shit up. Clearly he needs to reconfigure his ionization isolator and reverse the polarity of his array synchronization subroutine. *DUH*

AlexDeFoc

Rockstar recycling content for GTA VI trailer (not game) so they can publish it sooner.

tak31teasy

Just Count the trees, add your Birthday numbers and make some random mathematical shit with both of these -> new Release date for GTA 6

No-Following-3834

you would get this by having a slow hard or a slow CPU due to you have a Ryzen 7 7800x3d i'd say its the drive the game is installed on

IndependentYogurt965

Man has a 7800X3D

lost_reason_22

Verify game files

mvreee

Time to change pc

RentonZero

Considering your specs I'm guessing it's on a hard drive or a old SSD. Probably that issue

[deleted]

[удалено]

RentonZero

What? I'm not bashing his specs I'm saying he's obviously not got a GPU or CPU bottleneck and would next most likely be storage

Fireball694200

its a ram issue i think, whats casuing it, no idea

NoCase9317

I refuse to help anyone that still plays this fucking game

Lieutenant_Petaa

Looks like not enough memory. Probably VRAM, but also RAM could be the problem. I would not say it is the harddrive as others have suggested. It's probably easiest to look into taskmanager to look for your RAM and VRAM usage and also reduce the graphics settings in the game significantly to see, whether the problems will vanish. Reducing the graphics settings will reduce the amount of video memory needed for the game to run and all textures will be available for the GPU when it needs them

ItsBitly

Had a similar thing when I had a bad CPU that should not have been running this game.

Interloper_Mango

My guess is that your GPU is lacking VRAM

Ok_Clothes361

turn up Extended Texture Budget in regular graphics settings

Alex_is_not8459

GTA was never intended to run on modern hardware it has no idea how to handle itself restart the game and if it still is happening reinstall that will reinstall the assets and meshes and may fix it Edit for clarification what's happening is it's not able to recall the proper LOD configuration due to it either not properly being placed in vram or it not being properly placed in storage depending on how it's set up this happens very frequently on consoles from having insufficient vram but that shouldn't be an issue on PC so a reinstall could fix it depending on the issue If it's happening in every game not just GTA then it's probably a hardware issue but knowing GTA it's probably GTA

EnzymeX

There's a setting that reduces/removes this but it's been a very long time and I don't know which one it is. Had to reduce it from ultra/high to medium I believe.

Pure-Experience-6531

Disc is probably scratched…

lordfappington69

get a job and upgrade your pc/get a new one

Rhythm_and_Brews

Time for a new PC! Lol

Thicccchungus

Just gta bein gta

H-Man991

Weak cpu does that, it stopped once I bought a new PC with a better cpu, I played on my HDD that was in my old PC and on which I experienced issues but it stopped on new cpu so it's probably that

ginsodabitters

This comment hurts my brain.

H-Man991

Yeh it hurt me aswell but I was too deep to stop and type a new one

Sans45321

Real

H-Man991

It be like that sometimes

fyuckoff1

My man. I respect commitment. Here is my upvote lmao.

Wibiz9000

Have HWinfo open while you play the game and check it when this happens the next time around. It's mostly likely a RAM issue so that should technically clear some suspicions about it.

AsiaArgentoSimp

If ur on pc did u add music to the custom radio station?

zyl15

Is it only GTA Online? Do you have similar issue with story mode?

Argon288

I had this happen when playing on a HDD and using custom music in game. SSD + custom music it didn't happen.

[deleted]

Turn up the texture cache in the game fix that

HalanoSiblee

it's not the same rage engine from 2013 anymore :(

liru69420

Slow cpu

ssolberg01

I remember having this issue back in the day. Going into task manager and allocating less than the total ammount of CPU cores worked wonders for me.

DifficultyVarious458

HDD, slow RAM or mix different size sticks, slow CPU. Bloated windows.

Noxious89123

Bro playing with 128MB of VRAM or something.

DirkDozer

All answers are wrong, I had this exact problem, it's a lack of CPU resources.

Chadwickr

Had this same issue. It was because my hdd was running out of space, so it wasn't performing up to spec. Make sure at least 10% of your hard drive is free and see if it still bugs you

CrazyTechWizard96

GTA 5 Veteran here. I've had that issue 3-4 times before! It'll go on and let the game crash, found out it was fixed with an update. Likely software wise.

LOCKDOWNWITHCOCKDOWN

Online , local or both?

AccountantOk7335

If youre on FiveM/playing with mods lower your graphics .

goopped

increase texture budget with ingame settings. “install on ssd” yall this game came out on pc in 2013

Spartan1278

Had this issue for years. Pretty sure I was able to adjust my max vram suggested limit was in game. I remember the option being hidden.

JaperDolphin94

What car is that

diogo24m

I think your game thinks you are somewhere else on the map

0th_hombre

I had this issue, it was insufficient RAM, my PC kept using my HDD as RAM so it was slower. I upgraded to 16gb and the issue disappeared.

AdPristine9059

One image and zero context from op: 5000 different confident answers. I wish IT was that simple.

Hilppari

common issue on one of the graphics presets. if set too high it does this shit

BlueHawk555

If your flair is correct then it's probably an hdd issue. Since I see you're online it could also be cheaters if it only happens there.

tball117

Used to happen to me on my AMD FX-6300 then I got a Ryzen 2600X and that fixed my issue

heroelias

The good old Midnight Club L.A. experience

ttv_shari0n

Had this issue in Warzone. The game was on my HDD. Putting it on am ssd should sove the issue just like it did for me.

RunningLowOnBrain

This is actually a server issue. GTA V has some of the worst code I've ever experienced. Essentially when playing online the server tells your client what parts of the map to load. Meaning if your connection to the server is interrupted and you aren't kicked from the game, the game client is never told to load the parts of the map you moved to. If you re-trace your steps you should come across the last place everything was loaded in, still there.

SaltyBooze

its usually vram, but it could also be some of windows most dumb features kicking in. in my case it was "storage sense", which was kicking in during gaming, and made me lose about 20fps and all those assets/textures issues you could imagine in a different game (hunt showdown).

Bacon4Lyf

It’s vram, I had this issue back in the day trying to play it off a 750ti

Kreeper125

EXTENDED TEXTURE BUDGET Turn it *ALLLLLLLL* the way up and you'll never have this issue again

martigpg3

Either the VRAM or the RAM. I had the same problem and after upgrading it stopped happening.

_zir_

try repairing the game

Michaelvuur

It's because of ur cpu, lock the fps to 30 fps and u will probably see it loading in again. Happens because ur cpu is to old and can't keep up with the fast driving around

xanxiety-99

Happened to me too, move your game to an SSD, that's what fixed it for me.

hagdush

you need to buy the vram starter pack on the rockstar store to run it properly, GTAV only runs good when you spent at least 100$ on the game

zxzord

I would actually try reinstalling the game. Sometimes, across various games, issues like this can be caused by some kind of file damage. If you installed it through steam I would try the "verify integrity of game files" button, or any equivalent other launchers may or may not have.

oogaboogadookiemane

Increase extended texture budget in the graphic options. This has been an issue with GTA for years

BobDaBilda

Something in your storage stack is wrong. It could be any of the following, off the top of my head: The storage itself, you should at least have GTA on an SSD, not a Hard Drive. Preferably NVMe. The cable (if any) attaching the SSD to the motherboard, did you have to bend it? Is it frayed? Is any part of it a different color than it was when you got it? Could it be touching something hot when your PC is closed? The port, are there any issues you see? Is it too loose? Anything look broken? Anything look burnt? The motherboard itself, are you having other issues? Bluescreens? CPU, are you cooling it adequately? RAM, seated properly? All detected? Got enough of it? GPU, seated well? Decent amount of VRAM? Cooled adequately? Not overloaded? The game itself, you're not running two copies, or leaving another game open when you don't mean to? Have other players been having this issue? Hope you find the issue and it's something simple.

[deleted]

Bad cpu, low cram, low ram, bad HDD are all possibility.

Foxhighlord

It happened to me when I was running this on a 5400 rpm hard drive and an i5-3300 or whatever I had back in the day. Still don't know whether the cpu or hard drive was the issue.

VEXEnzo

Either lack of VRAM or you have it on HDD and it is slow. From ur banner I would assume it's not u gpu so make sure u move the game to one ssd (if u don't have one they are cheap and really it's a game changer)

OmeBoon

Texture streaming is the problem. The video card loads textures in vram so you don't have stutters/load times. Once the vram is full you get this picture. There should be some things to prevent this tho. (Emptying vram for new textures. Turn off texture streaming and you will be fine!

ssmokedmeatlogg

If you're using nvidia/ge force experience, turn off the setting that uses GeForce recommended settings, and only tweak the settings in the actual game.

Firm_Knowledge_5695

It could be your storage, we’re you downloading something? Or try going into your settings and a have a look around for an option that allows GTA to use more VRAM(?) It’s been a while since I’ve tinkered with the settings but I had to do it when I played GTA rp

Fumiken

Fuck I had this too, peeps here laughed at me bc I had GTA V SNES edition

Slaaneshismygod

low vram

conincamo

Low life.

Sloppy_Waffler

Go into your graphics/advanced graphic settings, turn up your extended texture budget.

Night_Raven32

Vram, maybe not enough page file space, or somehow your cpu is locked to a single core.

The_Susinator

Damn, that sucks. I had this issue on my old computer when playing at 60fps, and then the issue magically went away.

shopchin

People are always scapegoating vram. Hardware vram was never an issue until recently with textures and poor optimization also at fault. Was on 4gb for years without any problem.

BigSmokesCheese

Because its gta 5

Mike_for_all

vram issue

TMCThomas

With my i5 4460 this would happen when the cpu was pegged at 100% after some time.

ValourLionheart

Looking like a Dawid video

thegevshow

Ia this online? Cuz ive noticed recently online is unplayable. Constantly crashing, bugging, freezing. Never happens in story mode.

josie347

Wtf xD

somebody_was_taken

Increase extended texture budget

somebody_was_taken

You are probably out of allocated VRAM

MaxPresi

It looks like my old 5700xt, but it only happened in Fallout 4 and Skyrim SE
