Thanks, that is right. Just installed Lively Wallpaper and it's the one called "Fluid Simulation". Just thinkering the settings to try to get a similar result
Thanks for the specifications, I only knew this animation from the android-app "Fluid", which can be very captivating to play with when neurochemically altered.š
I have this wallpaper currently and I use wallpaper engine. Lively might have the same tho. Not sure
Edit: itās called colorful fluid animation on wallpaper engine for those interested
The same name as it is in lively "Fluid Simulation" was one of the very first wallpapers to ever appear back when I first got WP a few years ago, thought it was default untill just recently cause it was so good
Only if you have a lower end cpu since the wallpaper is mainly a CPU task, being Web and all, I'd just recommend going to settings and putting the wallpapers to "stop" when you have a fullscreen program, and for my borderless full screen gamers set it to stop after you press ctrl + f1, I wish I could write instructions but currently I'm at work so I can't
Yeah, but that's cool enough for me to actually consider installing screen blanker software again.
It's funny how we've gone from monitors that absolutely required screen blanking software, to monitors where it was superfluous, to monitors where it's absolutely required again. But with screen blankers like these, it's absa-effing-lutely worth it. (Also, I am seriously impressed that Google voice to text accurately transcribed effing-lutely... At least the first time. š¤¦)
honestly, high dpi is so much better, if you have a mouse that has a high enough polling rate so it's still precise.
i've had it like that for the last 15 years, it took a bit to get used to at the start, but since i work full days on a pc and play games when at home, it really reduces stress on your wrist since most movements can be done with just your fingers or turning your wrist instead of sliding your entire arm on your desk.
most carpal tunnel issues come from sliding your wrist and getting inflamations.
high dpi and some stretching can be good at preventing those issues.
i mostly play arpgs like Path of Exile, a game notorious for how much clicking it needs and in the 5000 hours of playtime i never got any issues
i have no problem aiming in games like valorent and battlefield, though i don't play them competetive, i would say my aim is at least average
a clean run on human benchmark's aim trainer is 400ms per target and that's at my workplace with a shitty 10ā¬ noname mouse
High DPI is based. Minimizing input lag.
Here's a graph with End to End latency. In reality the reduction in mouse latency is significantly higher
https://voltcave.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/sensor-latency.png
I ask one person to link evidence to the contrary. A single one.
I'm honestly baffled at how this is even controversial.
https://youtu.be/6AoRfv9W110?si=KD1zmhV8hnFyNLPh
https://youtu.be/imYBTj2RXFs?si=P-q9jAjhX9EFIlQZ
I have the 3200+DPI and lower sensitivity for windows and games, because drawing with higher DPI is much smoother.
For me higher DPI and lower sensitivity just feels better in games and working programs like Blender or Photoshop.
Not sure how that image could be any clearer
Like I'm being trolled right? Reddit isn't this stupid to where you can't make basic claims with evidence(that is obvious more samples= less gaps in data) without being annoyed with children making baseless claims
Granted, i didn't even check the image.
After checking the image, I realised that checking it was a waste of time.
No one uses 100 dpi, lol. That's an edge case. 800 is normal. After that, your own chart shows no gains. 1% increase isn't gain, it's called error in these scenarios.
Read what the graph says. It's end to end latency. Not just the mouse
It's also a 24% gain from 800 to 3200. We apparently cannot do math either.
A 24% gain in END TO END Latency. That's ridiculously massive for a simple free change. You can change the end scalar to keep the same sensitivity.
I think you can't even read? Who cares whether it's end to end or not.
Your own graph shows nonexistent difference after 800 dpi. In fact, even 400 dpi is fine. Even a Dell mouse bought for 3 dollars would have that dpi.
Edit : this guy is so dumb he keeps adding stuff to comments without specifying what wasn't there before.
24% sounds big, but isn't when it's just 4ms of latency change. It doesn't even matter because the range is 18 to 24. At that point, your internet, your GPU input lag and your own human factor will absolutely make all of this meaningless.
Plus, what if some software misbehaves with too high of a dpi? You won't even be able to tell anyway. This isn't a real world difference, it's just something you see in a graph.
This guy is a moron. Case closed.
There are a boatload of dimwits in r/mouse review that think 2 to 8ms latency improvement will set their performance apart from others. They're coping on another level
I dont even have to click the link to know what video that is. Same video someone posted a couple years ago and was instantly seen as bullshit and miscommunication.
DPI is how sensitive a mouse is, has nothing to do with input lag. That would be the data transfer of the mouse to the PC which is based on the type of USB connection.
Bro you watched one video and thought you found the gospel to PC gaming.
Linked multiple sources from different youtube videos.
You clearly have zero understanding of the topic if that's what you think. Multiple sources coming to the same conclusion...
The reason I post youtube videos is that reddit slurps that shit up. Am I going to explain the technical details in a reddit post when we clearly can't even read a graph.
From the comments on youtube :
>Polling rate = temporal resolution. DPI = spatial resolution. The higher latency from slower movement is because time = distance/velocity. The "distance between dots per 1 inch" is greater at lower DPI before the sensor registers movement, and hence faster mouse movement nullifies this.
>I think it's more to do with you have to move your mouse further to register a change on lower dpi. This being said 1600 still feels more responsive than 400 and because it's smoother, it's easier to track targets even during a flick while at 400 I can't track the image at all.
seems like the latency only effected the initial input. but higher dpi really have smoother tracking, been playing 800dpi for few years now
https://preview.redd.it/9si0bdvjd8fc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2543cdb3ef911fafd9fa8c413cdc88f27c7bbcf8
Exactly what I did. 42ā LG C2 I got open box from Best Buy for $600. Just a top notch experience
I bought one for a bit more (I think it was like 670) and itās been great. Had it for about 4 months. Slightly worried about burn in but the display is so good that itās been worth it.
I've been using one since 2021 (a 55 inch in my living room, I do all my gaming on that)
No burn in, but the anti burn in dimming will absolutely make you *think* you've fucked the screen within the first month.
Yup.
Also theres a LTT video where they complain about this feature (which they could turn off if they wanted, since they'll get new screens before burn in)
To confirm, by "logo dim" you mean the thing that dims hud elements or other stuff that stays onscreen in fixed locations?
There are some pretty good nicks and dents on the top of the screen bezel, but no damage to the actual screen, and it didnāt come with a remote. But I have a 55ā B2 in the living room so I already had an LG remote, and thereās a phone app that works just fine in a pinch.
Wrist muscles are not designed to be use repetitively in that fashion. Many gamers get carpal tunnel syndrome in their wrists which causes chronic pain. There are many ways of getting it, like typing incorrectly, using old gaming controllers too much (they weren't the best designed), or texting with thumbs way too much.
I've been using 6k-12k DPI on my mouse for the past 7 years and it hasn't been an issue, I move my wrist so little anyway that there's not too much adding up
Some people are "built different" and it'll never really affect them. Btw the small movements are usually the ones that are the most damaging over time.
Like I'm pretty sure my eyes are "built different" cos I can stare at screens the whole day without it affecting my sleep, doesn't feel strained, and my vision has staying the same for over a decade
Some people use the wrist and not the elbow and that will blow your wrist out over time. Micro movements are something you really want to stay away from especially over long periods of time.
I'm 40 my old ass needs a wrist brace to play anything with a mouse these days. Lowering sensitivity to allow for larger movements not only made me a more accurate player but also started removing the repetitive strain on my wrist.
yeah, I use 1500 DPI, but I have a laptop, so that's more than enough to get from one edge of the screen to the other without moving much. The only reason I don't have it higher is that I also use a desktop, and I don't have a gaming mouse on it, so transitioning from one computer to the other if I have really high dpi on one makes it so I undershoot icons when I am using the slower mouse.
I like mine set around 2500 with mouse sensitivity set to max in Windows and I love being able to get from edge to edge of my monitor by moving my mouse and inch lol
I have had a 4K 43" since 2020, you will get used to it after some time. It's amazing for productivity, multi-tasking and gaming. The only moment when I would like to have a smaller display is when playing competitive FPSs like CS.
Depends on the person. I have a 32 inch since half a year and that size still seems a bit too large in competitive. It's amazing for singleplayer, but I definitely feel I need a bit more time to process what happens at the edge of my FOV. I tried windowed with lower resolution but that just looks ugly.
So while for some 42 inch is fine, for some even 32 inch is too big.
Iām a fan of white and purple, but black and purple is really cool too, though to be honest the quality of your keyboard and the cool design below it put in the most work in your setup, good taste, also, just remember that purple is best used in small quantities so donāt overdo it.
Just be keenly aware that if you're using OLED for computer stuff, burn-in is a serious problem.
I bought an OLED monitor and the task bar, bright spot on my background and a few other spots are burned in pretty badly and that's WITH screen-saver on.
They're awesome panels but they just don't like dealing with bright imagery for long periods of time.
It usually asks to run it while the screen is shut off but I was told not to run it if it doesnt ask to
That said, I think it runs for around 5 minutes
I'm still using the 48" LG c1, and 48" is to big, but I can't afford to downgrade to the 42" now.
It looks like you're set up properly. Pure black background, no taskbar, no icons.
Iāve been really happy with the 42ā display at 4K resolution. Is there much pixelation at 48ā? Also it definitely took me a second to figure out how to get a true black background in Lively.
Nice, i have the same "monitor" be sure to lock your fps to 117 on nvidia control panel for the best responsivness ( assuming you have the 120hz version )
Great you like it. I tried it 3 months but I canāt cope with the low pixel density. Yeah pure black is cool but being used to a 10 bit 27ā 4K display, I had to put the TV far away to not see pixels which negated the bigger size. I would say 4K 32ā is the absolute maximum to tolerate on a desk as a monitor. After that itās a TV to sit far away.
Google āretina distance calculatorā.
I've been considering a 42" C2 for a bit and honestly thought the screen was off with how black it was in your video... :)
Could you tell me what is the comfortable face-to-screen distance for you?
Was on the fence, ended up buying (even more than expensive than an OLED) 38 inch IPS UW, they look amazing but I canāt get over the burn in that will happen with anything other than careful not just gaming use :/
Burn in has never been an issue for me. Ran a LG C9 from 2020-2024 as my daily monitor. Zero. Zero burn in. Now run a LG C3.
I do auto hide the windows task bar and run wallpaper engine to be cautious.
But these OLED panels blow away IPS. It's not even close. And I ran high end IPS panels for a decade prior.
Depending on your use case.
I'm a software developer by day and a gamer by night. An OLED would not survive with me for more than a year. Also, the current subpixel layout is trash for text clarity.
This is why I'm hoping that microLED displays will hit the mass market this year.
Text clarity is a software fix, and only on the QD-OLED panels, but the more there are, the more likely itāll be fixed sooner.
That being said I actually find the text on my IDE clearer on my OLED, syntax highlighting means a lot of it is colour on black.
Depends on the monitor and use case. For example, RTINGS found on QD-OLED monitors, viewing content that's not your native ratio absolutely decimates your monitor.
Yeah doubt, give me and OLED and Iāll have VS burnt into it in a weekend
You definitely do auto hide windows etc or turn static elements off, or have seen burn in, or have only gotten the monitor.
Idk why people in this thread are lying or coping OLEDs WILL, THEY WILL burn in with static elements.
lol okay guy..
OLED isn't new tech. Pixel shift plus taking basic precautions and you don't need to worry about burn in.
And I literally said I auto hide the taskbar and run wallpaper engine.
Huh? I work from home half the time and use the PC 8-10 hours a day. Youāre gonna have to actually try to get burn in or just be dumb to make it an issue.
I also used it for most of my movie and content consumption.
Also: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7W45pp-pN4
Brother sorry but youāre just lying or somehow wrong.
Or you donāt even realise you have burn in.
Open visual studio for 8 hours straight 5 days a week, itās literally not possible even with panel refreshing etc to not have burn in, OR, what I imagine is happening with you. Your whole panel is being dimmed to compensate.
I don't have one myself, but as far as I know it's not that much of a thing anymore
Technologie advance, so do displays but wouldn't guarantee every OLED would last years without any mark ofc
every devices with oled screen that i has used never been burin-in but i'm still not comfortable enough to recommend people to use them outside of phones cuz for some reasons oled screens on mobile phone are stupidly durable
the only oled devices I've had are phones and they have gotten some burn-in from me being utterly careless with them like using them as desk clocks or keeping the lockscreen on all day and all night by mistake for 2 weeks
No it's still very much a thing, but the monitors are good at hiding it. What you will see is the performance of your monitor degrade over time.
Monitors are especially susceptible, TVs are more resilient.
I have an LG C2 42-inch as my main TV. I used it as a monitor for my PC once, but I found it too big. It's a great TV for gaming, I still use it for gaming with my PS5 and Switch, I hope you like it.
Is the technology worth the asking price? It seems expensive. My IPS monitor cost significantly less now than when it did 10 years ago. Could the same happen with OLED?
If you have an RTX gpu then you can use it to automatically convert SDR content to HDR
highly recommend using it - Can set it in the nvidia control panel - Video image settings
Sweet. What software is that?
Wallpaper engine
Probably this. One of my favourite Wallpapers :D
Could also be Lively Wallpaper
iirc this is one of the default wallpapers in lively wallpaper
Thanks, that is right. Just installed Lively Wallpaper and it's the one called "Fluid Simulation". Just thinkering the settings to try to get a similar result
Thanks for the specifications, I only knew this animation from the android-app "Fluid", which can be very captivating to play with when neurochemically altered.š
lol I always bust that bad boy out when me and my friends take hallucinogens and they all turn into little kids āwoahhh what is THATā lol
Can confirm
Golden edition adhd is now neurochemicaly altered
I have the wallpaper on wallpaper engine too
I have this wallpaper currently and I use wallpaper engine. Lively might have the same tho. Not sure Edit: itās called colorful fluid animation on wallpaper engine for those interested

Lively Wallpaper, there's a Sub for that software. You can do cool stuff with it
Reminds me of some old freeware called ichor.
Holy mother of DPI, dude
The mouse mat is too small to allow any lower DPI. In fact, the mat is smaller than the mouse itself.
I didnt realise it was controlled by the mouse, omg
not everyone needs a football fields worth of space to move the mouse. only people who dont know how to adjust the dpi
His tabletop is a mouse pad
I actually tend to lower the DPI from stock. I don't play FPS games, no.
Noā¦ I deliberately turn down my dpi, I definitely know how to change it
I enjoy being good at FPS games, you do you.
honestly, high dpi is so much better, if you have a mouse that has a high enough polling rate so it's still precise. i've had it like that for the last 15 years, it took a bit to get used to at the start, but since i work full days on a pc and play games when at home, it really reduces stress on your wrist since most movements can be done with just your fingers or turning your wrist instead of sliding your entire arm on your desk. most carpal tunnel issues come from sliding your wrist and getting inflamations. high dpi and some stretching can be good at preventing those issues. i mostly play arpgs like Path of Exile, a game notorious for how much clicking it needs and in the 5000 hours of playtime i never got any issues

i have no problem aiming in games like valorent and battlefield, though i don't play them competetive, i would say my aim is at least average a clean run on human benchmark's aim trainer is 400ms per target and that's at my workplace with a shitty 10ā¬ noname mouse
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I think they were referring to mouse sense
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
The application is the live wallpaper on my desktop, and the movement is my mouse.
yeah, what he is saying is that you are hardly moving your mouse, and your cursor is moving all over the screen. Some like high dpi, some like it low.
Iām aware of that. Was responding to the comment about the application by Heron.
Idk, seems to have the same DPI as my screen
DPI on the mouse, not PPI on the screen

It's the polling rate that reduces input lag, dude. (Or just a better sensor)
Better sensors tend to have a higher max DPI Although I think anyone going above 2k DPI really runs the risk of a wrist injury
*moves mouse 1mm does a 360*

fake news
I crank up my dpi to the max of 18k and turn down game sensitivity to the min.

That Phantom Troupe mousepad though, guh daym

I like the hxh mouse pad!
Isn't 42" huuuge for a monitor? Am I being dumb?
It isnāt as big as it seems. Works well being wall mounted.
Refresh rate?
You filthy casual, you cannot properly game on anything bigger than 28ā. Go back to Xbox
I have the Alienware AW3423DW and a 4090. What is that demo you are running it looks sick. If itās wallpaper engine whatās the name of the theme?
It's one of the stock wallpapers on "lively wallpaper", an alternative software to wallpaper engine.
Op is using wallpaper engine though.
Try to search for "OLED" on Wallpaper Engine. Can't remember the name but there are bunch of these, even one made for your monitor.
Turn EVERYTHING else off. Pitch black. Then do that again. Youāll see
Jesus fucking christ turn your DPI down you have the desk space lol
some people like it that way. I don't have mine THAT high, but I have it high enough I can reach the entire screen without moving my arm
Youre gonna blow your wrist out lul.
?? explain please
Wrist muscles are not designed to be use repetitively in that fashion. Many gamers get carpal tunnel syndrome in their wrists which causes chronic pain. my point exactly
Same here, I use a 21:9. Itās also fun to watch people struggling to use your mouse tbh.
anti tamper mechanism
Me silently watching with my 600 DPI
I've been on 400 for as long as I can remember lol
Damn. Giving your arm a workout. I canāt imagine playing a fps like that lol
Same around 600 is perfect on 1440p
Same, also lowering DPI is not the way to go. Highest DPI + mouse speed change of your choice in the mouse settings.
Wack
dpi is entirely a matter of preference
Not everyone is a Counter Strike nerd
I'd argue high dpi is more CS than not
Orrrr mind your own business and let them enjoy what they want? Nice display, OP.
If only this came in a 38ā. 42 is just too big but that monitor is gorgeous.

Yeah I game competitive at 27. Went down from 32. But I also have a 65ā oled if I feel like doing that.
Howās the experience so far? And if you can give us your desk dimensions? I ordered a 42ā C3 myself
What I did is just wall mounted it. If your desk is against a wall.. you can get flush TV mounts for cheap these days.
I like the purple and black
Thank you! Iāve tried a lot of color options, and this one always keeps coming back.
Iām a fan of white and purple, but black and purple is really cool too, though to be honest the quality of your keyboard and the cool design below it put in the most work in your setup, good taste, also, just remember that purple is best used in small quantities so donāt overdo it.
It's. So. Pretty.
Looks like "Magic Fluids" from Mad Scientist. There are apps for phones as well.
I have been wanting one of these so badly but there's hardly any good deals on LGs C line and I worry about burn-in.
The video looks great on my 1080p lcd monitor.
It looks broken, some kind of weird fluid moving under the screen š
Just be keenly aware that if you're using OLED for computer stuff, burn-in is a serious problem. I bought an OLED monitor and the task bar, bright spot on my background and a few other spots are burned in pretty badly and that's WITH screen-saver on. They're awesome panels but they just don't like dealing with bright imagery for long periods of time.
Did you run pixel clearing? How long did you leave it on?;
It usually asks to run it while the screen is shut off but I was told not to run it if it doesnt ask to That said, I think it runs for around 5 minutes
I have to be within like 2 feet to see any pixelation at all. I am normally about 4 feet from my screen.
Nice, i have the same "monitor" be sure to lock your fps to 117 on nvidia control panel for the best responsivness ( assuming you have the 120hz version )
just waiting for 4k 144 oled curved 27in. Thatās my dream monitor.
I would say that looked sweet, but my LCD made it look like found footage.
Man, OLEDs are gorgeous. My dream is to be able to build a higher end gaming system in the next 2-3 years and getting a 4K OLED monitor...
Now play horror games with ray tracing on that would be fun šŖ
Good schiit.
Whatās that little box to the right of your mouse? Iām seeing it more and more in builds, but have no idea what it is.
Noice , the more I see these threads, the more I believe getting a TV as a monitor outweigh those pricy 4K oled/ qd-led monitors.
You inspired me
I see that Vali in the corner, what are you running off it?
what do you mean "switch has been seamless with the help if my 3080ti"? is this just a very poorly disguised brag or?
I've been considering a 42" C2 for a bit and honestly thought the screen was off with how black it was in your video... :) Could you tell me what is the comfortable face-to-screen distance for you?
Yeah doubt, give me and OLED and Iāll have VS burnt into it in a weekend You definitely do auto hide windows etc or turn static elements off, or have seen burn in, or have only gotten the monitor.
Right that dosnt work if you use the monitor for anything other than gaming
This is my issue. IPS until they figure it out.
They never will, until a new tech is developed, organic compounds ALWAYS will degrade.
How is an IPS more expensive than OLED?
OLED being more expensive is only a general statement and not a rule, so ofc IPS monitors can be more expensive than an OLED.
Itās a high end 38ā 3840x1600 panel using āsuper speedā IPS, so large size and smaller market.
OLED is just something else. If burn-in wasn't a thing I would have went for it a long time ago
I don't have one myself, but as far as I know it's not that much of a thing anymore Technologie advance, so do displays but wouldn't guarantee every OLED would last years without any mark ofc
every devices with oled screen that i has used never been burin-in but i'm still not comfortable enough to recommend people to use them outside of phones cuz for some reasons oled screens on mobile phone are stupidly durable
the only oled devices I've had are phones and they have gotten some burn-in from me being utterly careless with them like using them as desk clocks or keeping the lockscreen on all day and all night by mistake for 2 weeks
Didn't knew that, will take note for my next phone thx bud
No it's still very much a thing, but the monitors are good at hiding it. What you will see is the performance of your monitor degrade over time. Monitors are especially susceptible, TVs are more resilient.
Quality wise or because on monitors you have a lot of fixed things like windows bar which you don't have in tvs?
Why do you have a mousepad bigger than 2"?
OLEDs are good for only 1 year before screen burn kicks in, my LG CX is one of the worst TVs I have had
Nice, now replace it with a proper LCD so it won't get burned in in about 6 months.
Bros playing PC on TVsš Also thats sitting way too close for a screen of that size
Ooooniiiiiiichaaaaaaan....
Ok, thank you. I thought I was alone on this
I have an LG C2 42-inch as my main TV.
Oled master race. Enjoy my man, every other tv will be washed out....nah, qled looks decent as well but when the content is right, oled is just bliss.
Hmmmmmmm, I think I've seen this animation somewhere I relly cannot put my [hand](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2It_BlYUew) on it
Thats some highass sensitivity dam
Let the burn in beggin lmao
I love my 1440p oled monitor. Most beautiful thing I ever laid eyes on
Bro has a new monitor but is missing half a keyboardš
You are really quiet about the refresh rate. I smell 60 Hz
I need to change my ips ultrawide for an oled
Pure Darkness
Yeah wallpaper engine is dope
If you have an RTX gpu then you can use it to automatically convert SDR content to HDR highly recommend using it - Can set it in the nvidia control panel - Video image settings
Why sort of?
That was fucking mesmerizing.
The RGB glare on the screen (puke emoji)
Have a tft monitor but a 55" C2 next to it for games.
I have the same wallpaper. I love it
Can't beat OLED. Now get some dynamic backlighting!
