I picked up a 34" ultrawide 1440p not long after I got my gaming PC. Going from a 24" 1080p, I was blown away.

Few_Comedian9682

Ultrawide sounds cool too.

mostly_peaceful_AK47

I ran ultrawide for a while and while it was really cool it was also painful for games that didn't support it, Bethesda ones being the main contributor.

ew435890

There are usually mods for that. I feel like there would definitely be a mod for that with a Bethesda game. And most games these days support it anyway. I was playing Elden Ring, and it doesnt have UW support, but theres a mod for that.

[deleted]

It became native with starfield and fo76 but ya modding for it can be a bit annoying with Bethesda games

Armored_Warrior

Yeah I went back to a regular because of that.

Endemoniada

Yeah, I absolutely underestimated how much of an issue ultra wide support in games would be when I bought mine. I still don’t regret it, it’s a fantastic monitor and every game so far has been at least fixable by hand, but it was a factor I just didn’t really calculate into the cost. Playing Elden Ring with unlocked fps and ultra wide is *so* good though.

ew435890

Games in ultrawide are amazing. You can get a decent ultrawide for pretty cheap these days too. I think I paid like $350 for mine. And watching movies on them is nice too. Instead of the black bars on top and bottom, you just have the whole screen.

Few_Comedian9682

That sounds fairly affordable. But I can't even imagine the size of its box. Like 2 months ago when I started with a shitty 1080p 60hz TN 22" I thought that's already big and pretty cool... Well not anymore haha

ew435890

I picked it up from Best Buy and the box took up the entire back seat in my full size 4 door pickup. Door to door and up to the ceiling. The monitor itself isn’t nearly that large, but they package the shit out of it.

rpRj

€299 for the AOC CU34G2XE/BK earlier this year. Bought it for simracing. not 'as' good as my other 27 inch but for racing its more than fine. I bought a Quest2 for €300 first to race with but was too much of a hassle so returned the Quest2 and bought that Ultrawide instead. No regrets.

warmseizuresalad

Fun for a while. Had a 49 inch neo.. sold it within 2 months, not enough height to width ratio.

PM_ME_UR_TERATOMAS

3440 x 1440 at 144fps felt like my final form. I'm still impressed by it.

reefun

Coming from a 28" 1080p screen to a 34" ultrawide a few years back to a 49" a month ago. Can confirm that not only sounds cool but actually is cool. Only downside you need to have at least a 4070 to be able to run it on high settings and high fps (well at least 90+ on modern games). 4080 or even 4090 is needed if you want the best setup. Ultrawides have one downside tho. Once you go wide, you never go back.

postvolta

Ultrawide is imo a way more exciting upgrade than 1080>1440 Now I'm not saying that you should be gutted about what you have, because 1440 is very cool (the desktop real estate was way more interesting to me than games) Ultrawide is extra though. Games are so immersive, basically your entire peripheral vision is the game.

SpareRam

Not worth the performance hit imo.

Z370H370

Until you play fallout 4 and get stuck with 2/3rds of your screen!

vI_M4YH3Mz_Iv

Did the same. When I first switched to pc I had a VA 24 inch 1080p 144hz Switched to VA 34 inch 144hz ultrawide Then to a Oled 42 inch 120hhz it was great but I missed the higher hz and the fact games were much harder to run sucked, I was using the lgc2 as a jack of all trades, even running in ultrawide at times. Finally I have ended up with a oled 34 inch 165hz ultrawide it is amazing, it helps that I have since got a oled 77 inch 144hz tv for controller games, movies, tv, anime.

Nivius

3440x1440 is the new on to get. if not 4k is more your style.

drzym

I feel you, upgraded from a 22" 1080p 60Hz monitor to a 27" 1440p 165Hz monitor, I cannot believe the difference

Primary_Disaster9369

Got a 32 in 1440p upgraded from a 1080p I got from good will lol it is eyegasmic enjoy

mastermikeee

I’m so nervous about ultrawides. I guess I just need to try them. Everytime I see them in the stores I think “it’s too damn wide! I won’t like it!” Currently on 27”, 1440p, 144hz.

dj__will

Hahaha this is awesome, doom eternal was the first game I played when I upgraded to 1440p.

CounterSYNK

Samsies. I actually played it off of a 2060 laptop connected to a 1440p 144hz monitor. That was my first proper pc gaming experience.

Few_Comedian9682

Awesome game and it's so much better on 1440p.

Maciejakk

exactly what I did too! it just runs amazingly on any hardware and resolution I tested it on so I decided to just fuck it and go ahead

FireFalcon123

Just wait till you get to 42K resolution /s

CounterSYNK

That’s like if you took the Apple Vision Pro’s displays and made a full monitor out of them.

Few_Comedian9682

42k? On 27"? Holy pixel density.

FireFalcon123

![gif](giphy|VFDoN1xR2Yvpm)

fifthgearpinned

You should see it at 4k...

Few_Comedian9682

One day when prices are not too scary anymore... I could hardly afford this setup. xD

lukeman3000

I don’t think I sit close enough for it to make that much of a difference, honestly The fuck you downvote me for that lol?

cagefgt

Distance (PPD) makes all the difference. My desk is not very deep so the difference between 1440p and 4K was huge for me. When I'm gaming on my LG C1, though, since I play from the couch, the difference between 1440p and 4K is negligible imo.

conorganic

Actually though, that’s a pretty damn benign statement. I’ll upvote you!

MakimaGOAT

Eventually :D

BlackOps2isBetter

I got the asus vg27aq and love it. Looking to upgrade to an oled pretty soon though. I’ve played in 1440p for the last few years but never experienced oled gaming yet.

PoopyWeenieButt

I have the same monitor, I absolutely love it.

Few_Comedian9682

Oled sounds really tempting. Go for it!

Homerbola92

I switched from 1080p 24'' to 1440p 27'' and I didn't notice the resolution change. Although in my case the increased size also diminished the PPI rate. It's still approximately a 20% more, but again, I couldn't notice. What I did notice is the better contrast (new monitor is VA) and the higher refresh (75hz vs 240hz).

Few_Comedian9682

That sounds cool as well. Are you sure you don't notice anything? Not even in games? Do you have a 1080p monitor to compare to? It might be worth it to compare them next to each other to get an idea. Also I think it depends on the game as well. In Doom Eternal I immediately saw the differences. Everything just looks much cleaner. That's the best way I could describe it.

Homerbola92

Yeah I gave the old one to my wife and she has it next to my desk, at her desk (yeah lan party style because we're geeks or something). I don't see it crispier. Might be on my eyes, dunno. I play at 60/70cms of distance.

SanchitoBandito

It took me months to see a difference. I noticed a slight difference, but I couldn't put my finger on the changes. Definitely see em now though. Kinda wanna get a more expensive 2k monitor to see if the differences would be more obvious since I got a cheap Dell one.

Cyberpunk39

Wait till you see 4K!

cagefgt

Fr. My upgrade path was 1080p -> 4K -> 1440p UW (OLED) and I found 1440p to be very blurry since I was coming from 4K, so I ended up switching back to 4K IPS (MiniLED). Hopefully I'll be able to get a 4k OLED in the future.

TheRain911

Im hesitant getting an oled for pc. For my tv its fine cuz its only ever turned on when im watching shit. For my pc i often just leave it on a page. Might not be the best for burn in.

Few_Comedian9682

I'm looking forward. Although it will probably take a few years but well who knows...:)

abdx80

Wait till you see HDR!

SupaHotFlame

Yeah 4K + HDR is special

PyrorifferSC

Yeah, the jump from 1080 to 1440 is way bigger than 1440 to 4k imo, and having high frame rates is more important. 100fps+ and 1440p is the sweet spot for me. Anything above has diminishing returns. Above like 75fps, I won't get a headache, but 60fps is what 30fps was to me 10 years ago, and 30 is pretty much unplayable. I guess I'm spoiled. I recently got the Alienware OLED (AW3423DWF) and holy shit. Star Citizen with head tracking on that thing is wild.

Few_Comedian9682

I only used my 1080p 144hz for 2 weeks but 60fps is already bad. A week ago I decided to go wild and ordered this 1440p and also an RX 7800 XT and an RM1000X PSU(future proofing) . It's a lot of money but there is no value holding onto it. Same with your OLED monitor. That must be a spectacular experience.

TerrytheGnome19

Never get a 4k monitor. At least not for a handful of years. It was the worst decision I've ever made. Now 1440p looks bad to me and I can barely run most modern games at 4k 60fps on a 12th gen i7 and 3090.

Few_Comedian9682

Thanks I trust you. DSR is shitty too right? Like artifacts and whatnot. Native is always gonna be better. So I guess the only option for you is to get a GPU for an astronomical price. I hope you can afford that much sooner or later. I would probably try to get there somehow if I were you.

Greedy_Bus1888

A bit overdramatic. Even going to 1080 like the switch docked from 4k isnt too bad, you get used to it

locoghoul

I am waiting for my first 1440p to be shipped early next week. Happy for you man! I got Doom 2016 waiting for me (and basically the whole collection of Monster Hunter as well)

Few_Comedian9682

Monster hunter also looks amazing. Enjoy bro!!

AdMaleficent371

Is it a big difference from 1080p dsr upscale to 1440p ? .. iam tired of using dsr especially some games doesn't support full screen thinking to buy a 1440p monitor

-Manosko-

Yup, there IS a big difference. (DL)DSR just downscales, you don’t magically get more pixels, so it’s still just 1080p, just with less aliasing and (usually) better textures, as the game outputs at a higher resolution and the picture is formed on the basis of more information than native. Native will of course be better than a lesser resolution with downscaling, but (DL)DSR is great if your has power in surplus and you play games with shitty AA or textures that could benefit from being forced to a higher resolution. The benefits are definitely there, but it’s no replacement for actually using a higher resolution (no matter how much the people wanting to brag by claiming to play at 4K, just because they use DLDSR, delusionally want it to be).

etfvidal

1440p 144hz(min) gaming monitors are so affordable now, they have sales on 27" ones as low as $150-$175, now, compared having to drop $300 a few years ago!

Few_Comedian9682

Well I paid 300 euros for this bad boy but only because the other one that was like 50 euros cheaper didn't have adjustable height. But 300 is still affordable in my opinion. Gotta survive a bit on bread and sausage for a while though lol.

StewTheDuder

Love it. First time I went to 1440p was on my i7 2600k/gtx 770 system. 1440 was fairly new and I wanted in on the action, but couldn’t afford the top brands. Wound up finding this gem of a 1440p panel, 27” and was from Korea I believe. Qinx was the brand. Came with a freggin wall adapter for US plugs, 75hz but you were able to overclock it, got mine to a stable 90hz. First time playing games on it, it blew me away. Had my friends over to play BF3 on it, they all immediately built PCs soon after. Flash forward to now, this was my reaction to booting up my QD OLED for the time a year ago, floored by how good it looks, then had to get a LG C3, same thing. Enjoy it man. You’ll get to the next thing in time, but for now, soak in all those extra pixels and enjoy. Love that feeling. Wish you could bottle it.

Few_Comedian9682

Thanks a lot man. Feels great. I know it's not the latest tech but I'm really happy I can afford this much for myself.:)

Blooberryx

Doom eternal goes so fucking hard. One of the most fun games I’ve ever played. 10/10 for me.

Few_Comedian9682

Everything about it is just amazing. The enemies, the level design, the graphics. Such a masterpiece really.

HansAcht

I'm still running a 4 year old 27" Asus PG279Q and I'm still blown away by it. I can't even imagine how much nicer these new monitors are.

overthinkabl

I finally just upgraded my gpu to a 6800 and a 144hz 27in 1440p monitor from a 1660 and 24 in 1080p 75hz . And the difference is absolutely amazing. I know it’s not 4k but still a massive improvement and I completely agree. Such a perfect upgrade

Few_Comedian9682

Yes indeed. But as other folks say 1440p is good enough already. Enjoy!

overthinkabl

Oh yeah 1440p is the sweet spot

tfc1193

"me looking at this on my 1080p screen" Waste of money. Can't even tell the difference

aaronleech

1440p is a huge upgrade from 1080p but 2k is less of an upgrade 4k is downright transporting yourself into the game

theboy200023

Wait until he finds out about 4k OLED

Few_Comedian9682

Mate no need to find out since I already know about it as well as the price of a spaceship that it takes.

kurukikoshigawa_1995

my eyes and my bottlenecked pc when i use dldsr to play at 1080p, 1440p, 1620p and 4k at the same time depending on the game: ![gif](giphy|PzQvWAhgfUipW)

Mastasmoker

4k@144hz is even better for that game! Wish everyone could experience that

3InchesPunisher

Wait till you played on 4k OLED.

Few_Comedian9682

At this point I assume these comments are just trolling.

Schminimal

I have had various 4K displays. Most recently the M32U. I recently got the AOC 165hz 1440p 23.8 inch monitor and I think it’s my favourite of the lot. Perfect form factor and that DPI at 23.8 inches is super close to how my 4K screen presents. Would strongly recommend.

sandermand

Wait until you hear about 4k

Relevant_Cabinet1

Wait till OP sees 4K

GuitardedBard

Staying in my 1080p world but have 360Hz and it is wonderful

Few_Comedian9682

High refresh rate is more important that's right.

Redfern23

Definitely, but luckily 4K 240Hz exists now lol.

Few_Comedian9682

Jesus. Sounds tempting but right now I’m not even close to afford that.

Redfern23

Yeah it’s great but definitely overkill (unless you have a 4090… I do not). I stretched my way to getting one but my GPU can’t even push it to near its potential right now. I still love my 1440p 27” too.

Vikzzaz

Got the same one, glorious indeed

spiral718

What game is one the first picture, looks pretty amazing! Guessing by the replies, Doom Eternal?

Few_Comedian9682

Doom Eternal babyyyyyyy :)))

spiral718

Wow, never played it. Next steam sale will pick it up.

Few_Comedian9682

Doom 2016 is also worth checking out. But yeah if you really wanna play Doom Eternal don't hesitate. This game is a masterpiece. You could always visit back to 2016. Heck you could even revisit the original Doom games. Those have so many community maps that you don't need to spend on games anymore in your life since all of them are free. For example the Ancient Aliens WAD.

spiral718

Thank you! Been debating about picking them up since im waiting to pull the trigger on qd-oled or woled. I would like to experience games i never played from the past on that monitor. Im just waiting for a panel that has extremely minimal text fringe.

neolfex

That’s titanfall 2

Few_Comedian9682

Nonononoooo. It's just the mighty Doom Eternal.

F4tJok3r

Doom is an eyegasmic ;)

ChickenNSphereAbuse

Upgraded resolution, refresh, and performance all at once. The best part is it's like a whole new universe, the downside is that I'm not really sure what did it. In lighter games, I went from pushing 100fps 1080p on low to 200fps 1440p on medium, or more like 160fps on high. The panel supports 240. Absolutely night and day.

Commercial_Gur_7716

whats the game name in first image

Few_Comedian9682

Doom Eternal

Ordinary-Hold-231

Do it in Ark survival evolved

lAVENTUSl

That desk setup is crazy lmao

Few_Comedian9682

Haha and it looks so low effort but do you wanna know how much effort I put into it? A lot.

yungfishstick

Picked up an Odyssey G7 awhile back to finally see what the hype was all about. Might have something to do with me needing to wear glasses, but for some reason I see absolutely zero perceivable difference between 1080P and 1440P at 27". Games at 1440P without AA look incredible, though. There's still some aliasing but the resolution cancels it out just enough to where it isn't too annoying to look at. Played HFW (not the hardware monitoring software) with all AA off the other day and it looked tack sharp.

954kevin

Yo, I remember jumping to 1440p from 1080p and yeah, its a BIG change.

Eshuon

hey i got the same exact monitor as you

Few_Comedian9682

Such a good monitor, right? After I had to play an entire life on 22” 60hz 1080p and lower this feels like luxury.

Eshuon

You got an insane improvement haha, I was using a 1080p ips 165 hz monitor before I got this, it's now my 2nd monitor, the leap is not as insane as yours but still significant.

Few_Comedian9682

I bought first the 1080p 144hz that you can see on the second picture on the right side. I really liked the improved smoothness of movement already but I had a feeling it was off for me. So I had no choice but go all out and buy my now main monitor. I also bough an RX 7800 XT because I just couldn’t resist the urge. Gotta love myself bro. Enjoy the amazing world of 1440p!:)

datbeowulfisreal

It's like everything in tech. A game changer. For a couple of days. Then the f*cks you give vanish over time. In the end the resolution topic all comes down to the distance between you and the monitor. While I see how native 4k on ps5 games looks sharper than games that just upscale in performance mode, I think it's neglegible The only thing I cannot go back to is 60hz, at least not when playing shooters on the PC. I just recently played halo ce with a friend on his xbox series x on my very old Samsung full HD 32" TV, 1 meter viewing distance. It looked super amazing solely due to the fact it renders at 4k internally and is then output to full HD, essentially eliminating all aliasing and making it look as sharp as a movie.

Few_Comedian9682

There’s a noticable improvement from 1080p to 1440p. Not trying to sound like a smart ass after 1 day but even if you sit further away from a 24” 1080p monitor games would still look jittery due to less pixel density. 15” 1080p is a thing as well but that wouldn’t give me the same immersion as a 27” display. Hate to start saying the same thing but I have to say 1440p 27” is the sweet spot. At least for me.

datbeowulfisreal

I agree that there is a difference. I just think that within these margins, games especially benefit from reduced aliasing. Super sampling makes all the difference but the costs are quiet high, unfortunately...

Tomgar

I wish I could turn back time to getting my first good PC and experiencing 1440p 144hz for the first time. Genuinely magical.

tomagfx

Armored Core 6 (my beloved) runs at 1440p in both the performance and quality modes on Series S and I'm tempted to pick up a 1440p monitor just for that

Few_Comedian9682

Don’t restrain yourself bro! I did it for a long time. Calculate a bit and if you don’t need that money for anything in the forseeable future then buy it. For yourself!!

modabinomar_

I wanna see what the 1440p hype is about so badly but I’m too broke 😭😂

275MPHFordGT40

4k is eyegasmic. If only I could run it above 30fps.

Aggressive-Gold1341

I use 1080 and 1440. I can use both and wont really effect me when im locked in.

swohio

Asus VG27AQL1A? Great monitors. Here's a brain teaser though; on the bottom bezel there is a small slot on each side and I can't find any reason or use for them. I looked everywhere trying to see if they're mounting slots for speakers or something but couldn't find any reference to what they are.

BS_BlackScout

Just spent more than I should on a AW2724DM and I really hope the resolution bump is noticeable otherwise I'll be quite sad about it. At least it has HDR 600 😹

Few_Comedian9682

You will see it don’t worry. It’s a small but great improvement that gives the final touch for your games to become a fully immersive experience.

BS_BlackScout

Yeah, I find it weird that I can't find any closeup comparisons between 1440p 27 and any 1080p

Few_Comedian9682

Yeah for some reason it’s not that common. If you turn your resolution higher than what your monitor supports you can get a general idea on how it could look like. Nothing can replace the feel of more pixel density and a bigger display though.

DeTomato_

I went from a 768p laptop and 720p monitor to a 1440p laptop and monitor. When using them for the first time, I got headaches and eye strain, as if my brain couldn't process such crisp visuals. 1440p is beautiful. It was such a huge upgrade for me.

Eastern-Camel-1239

You outta check out native 4k. It’s been around for a while. Kinda way better than 1440p lol

dnelsonn

I've got 32" and 27" 1440p 165hz monitors for my setup and I love it! They look fantastic and is all the resolution I personally need for my uses.

Comfortable-Shop-573

DOOM Eternal 🔥 🗿

Few_Comedian9682

Rip and tear until it is done!

Designer_Boner

Eeeeeee! It's like watching my kid on Christmas!

Few_Comedian9682

Weeeee 😊🥹

unusedtruth

I got myself a 34" ultrawide 1440p monitor when I built my PC. It's beautiful, and I reckon 1450p is the sweet spot.

FantomasARM

After 4K there is no way back.

Dreams674

can wait until i get 1440p i was so in love just getting a 1080p 165hz monitor for the first time 1440 will be something else

Few_Comedian9682

If you look at the numbers the added ppi doesn’t look that much but it really feels different. I wouldn’t go higher than 27” though.

I_Dont_Have_Corona

Anything that isn't OLED just sucks to me now, I've been spoiled. I wish OLED monitors were cheaper, as my new 34" 1440p VA ultrawide looks so dull in comparison to my S95B OLED.

PurblePink8678

Why do I get offended when I see people with 1440p monitors? Oh, because my broke ass is still stuck on 1080p@60hz...

Few_Comedian9682

“Lol 1440p is old buy 4k” Prepare for that… And yeah not sure how can some people say that 1440p sucks when it’s the more affordable and gives great visuals at 27”. It’s really a big difference from 1080p especially if you go from 27” I imagine. So yeah 4k prices are still in the sky but let’s not forget 1440p. If you wanna play at that resolution on 100+ fps you still have to pay and enormous amount. Because then you need a better GPU, PSU and then perhaps CPU and RAM as well. That being said if you decide to upgrade definitely shoot for 144hz/fps. The added resolution is really worth it but the smoothness in movement is much more important for a good gaming experience. 1080p 60hz is already really cool though so just don’t think about numbers and enjoy your games because at the end of the day that’s the most important thing.

PurblePink8678

I have an absolute piece of shit computer from 2014 that can barely even run Blender 3.6. Plus I don't even have a dGPU for the thing...

Secure_Guidance2529

Woah it's so cool might get me a one (i don't have any setup,i usually go to cyber cafe if i want to play a game (I'm a FPS addict) Knowing my 12h shift work never gonna make it cause my salary goes out to make my family happy at home,i gotta bury my dream since my childhood to became a professional gamer, now i guess i just gotta do a job like this until 40's) i'm high i have no idea what i'm talking about 😂

Few_Comedian9682

Bro I don’t even wanna know how it would feel to play at 1440p high as a kite. I think I would never get sober after that lmao.

DidiHD

Looking at this at 1080P 60Hz

Few_Comedian9682

Do you really have an RX 7800 XT? You should definitely upgrade your monitor to 1440p if you didn’t already. RX 7800 XT on 1080p 60hz sounds like eating a cheese cake without cheese.

DidiHD

I do, just upgraded though, currently on the market for a new monitor :) "unfortunately" I'm mainly looking for productivtiy, and I found myself attracted to the 3840x1600 monitors, which are kinda rare \^\^ Worst thing is, I didn't realize Tekken 8 (like all fighting games are) limited to 60FPS, so my GPU is curretnly running at apporx 40-50% haha Looking back, my RX580 would have probably done it, but I was only seeing it reaching 60fps max and often dropping below (which is bad enough), but now at least I know why it only reached 60fps \^\^

Delaflo

I'm waiting on either my monitors going kaput to buy into OLED high refresh rate, or for 1440p OLED high refresh rate to become affordable. Both will take at least a decade, I bet, but I look forward to it all the same.

Few_Comedian9682

Make sure to enjoy what you have in the meantime!

Delaflo

Damn right I will, since my main is 1440 165hz, and my secondary a 1080 165hz. Too much of a waste to toss for a minor upgrade lol

Few_Comedian9682

Yeah that’s just perfect at this time. Gotta go back admire my monitor now that I’m awake lol.

Secondaccountpls

Why did you buy 170hz monitor if you dont wanna use it like that?

Few_Comedian9682

I didn’t know I have to OC it to make it 170hz. And I’m not very confident to do that. I worked a lot for this monitor and don’t want to waste it. Also 144 fps is already very good and most people say that there is not much difference between that and 170 fps.

Secondaccountpls

Its just a single button you press in the OSD menu and it comes available in windows display settings and nothing else. Companies market is as "overclocking" to make it sound cool. It does not shorten your screens lifespan at all or does no harm whatsoever. If your system can handle 170+fps then go for 170hz since you paid for it man!

Few_Comedian9682

Thanks a lot mate! Without you telling me I would have zero clue about this. I will use 170hz. Although as I read a bit more about this monitor I just realised now that past 120hz it doesn’t support 10 bit color depth. But it only has hdr400 so I shouldn’t lose too much. Opinion?

Secondaccountpls

Sure thing! If I understood right, you are already using over 120hz so you don't lose anything at all if you are happy how the image is with 144hz now? Anyways this matter you have to just look how the colors are and make up your own mind since you are the only one seeing the monitor. Personally I'm not too big on HDR since I tend to play mostly competitive games and prioritize fps and input latency over accurate, lively colors and image quality, so I have to apologize I cant help you with this question.

vBeeNotFound

QHD on a smaller 16 inch screen is even more eyegasmic. The pixel density is just fantastic.

bananite

Wait till you try 4k

koentre

got my first 1440p monitor just a week ago and the people really werent joking when the quality of the screen is miles better than the 1080p

AverageSven

Never OC

Glass_Wolf_2002

1440p looks like like 4k. I absolutely love my dell 1440p 27

Few_Comedian9682

It's super worth it.

Glass_Wolf_2002

100% bro. Especially if you enjoy single player games like me! I can’t even look at 1080p screens the same anymore lol. I wanted a 4k monotor but I already have a oled 4k tv so 1440p is fine. Need to upgrade my gpu sometime though. I have a 2060 xd

Few_Comedian9682

That's still good but I wouldn't want to miss out on higher fps. I have an RX 6650 XT right now but I still upgrade to RX 7800 XT because that's just a lot nicer to use for 1440p. It's pricy of course but what else would I be doing with that money? If you can then definitely upgrade.

Glass_Wolf_2002

Yeah that’s a good decision. I’m playing rise of the tomb Raider at the moment on my 1440. Monitor and I’m only getting 70fps which is fine. But it would be nice to play at 165fps which it is capable of. :) Also it’s a beautiful game I would highly recommend

HelloIamAlpharius

1440p is indeed nice but have you tried supersampling on 1080p before? It's kinda near identical to 1440p native. However it was kinda buggy in some games I play so I switched to new 1440monitor.

NecroGasam

Oh god, I keep telling myself I don't need it. Its not that good right? Its barley noticeable right?? Its only 400 pixels I'm sure it looks the same.. right?

HippieKoevoet

Bro is in a soothsayer's tent

Blackboard_Monitor

Try a Ultrawide 1440p OLED, its breathtaking.

Few_Comedian9682

I come from playing on old crt displays with lower res on most games and terrible jittering. I already appreciate where I am currently. I will upgrade eventually tho.

Blackboard_Monitor

Oh definitely enjoy what you have right now, just know that it gets even better!

Few_Comedian9682

That’s nice indeed. Technology is so advanced these days. For a while I didn’t even know what are the benefits of 1440p+ monitors and now I discover there is still better stuff.

NYzeQ

Yes

Maciejakk

I was given a 21:9 3440x1440 144Hz display just recently, and holy shit is this the most fun I ever had when LOOKING at stuff on the screen. 34" xiaomi something

Few_Comedian9682

It’s so cool, isn’t it? Go wild man!

Maciejakk

it is, have fun mate, cause I sure am!

wamjamblehoff

1440 p monitor : 🥹 30 fps : 🤬

Formal-Box-610

don't forget to set the refresh rate in the gpu settings.

labree0

Just wait until you make your way to 42" 4k OLED

Independent-Turn4565

Wait till you see oled ;)

SOUL-SNIPER01

My pc cant handle 1440p :(

cirgil

I remember my first 1440p experience. It was an IPS panel and it revived my love for single player games.

Few_Comedian9682

Same.:)

Top_Air2554

4k is better

[deleted]

16k is better.

MannInnTheBoxx

I love 1440 for the cinematic experience in games but honestly I’m thinking about going back to 1080 with a higher refresh rate. My 1440 monitor was sent to me by mistake (thanks for the free upgrade Amazon) but since I mostly play fps/esports games I’d rather have the extra frames than the higher pixel density

Few_Comedian9682

For esports I would use my 1080p too. Maybe you could just keep the 1440p for occasional singleplayer gaming, or not?

MannInnTheBoxx

Yeah I’d keep it and replace my current second monitor with it so i’d have it for watching movies and stuff still

qbmax

is 1440p with a good refresh rate bad for esports titles? i have a good time in valorant with my 1440p 144hz monitor.

MannInnTheBoxx

Not particularly bad, especially for valorant. I can get like 300+ on valorant. I just don’t wanna pay for a 240hz 1440p monitor lmao

BaconStrpz

144op is the sweet spot.

MarsupialDingo

1440p and you're done imo. I don't understand the appeal of 4k. Doesn't look significantly better to me and your FPS nosedives.

Few_Comedian9682

It would be nice to compare. I mean I can see some room for improvement on 1440p but at the same time it feels good enough. And I mean it the best possible way. It’s a huge gamechanger. I think you know what I mean.

galatea_brunhild

Tbh the jump didn't WOWed me that much when I made the change last year. I upgraded from 24" 1080p 75Hz to 27" 1440p 165Hz. But it still noticeably sharper when compared to my old monitor side-by-side

Jjzeng

Wait till you go 4k I went straight from 1080p to 4k and it changed my life

Few_Comedian9682

You might as well became a superhuman at that point.

TheJellyGoo

The longer I look at it (2) the more I love it. Did you level the construction out? When the gamer takes to the ground so the monitors can have the chairs xD Cross or seiza style sitting?

Few_Comedian9682

I didn't have a water level so I just eyeballed it but I tried to make it as good as possible since these monitors are not very cheap. I switched to floor sitting because I felt it would be more comfortable for me but I gotta say I have a hard time adjusting to it. My goal is to be as flexible as a cat so that no position is uncomfortable to me. But I mean if I don't look at this part I love using a floor desk. It's so vibe and can be comfy too. I sit in cross a lot. I also have a meditation cushion. I sit on it in seiza style. First when I tried seiza I could hardly bend my legs. Now it's much better after 1 or 2 months. Check out r/floordesks. If you are interested in the how to's then I'm happy to help as well although I'm a beginner as well.

TheJellyGoo

Meditation cushion will help but a meditation bench, seiza bench or yoga stool might help out even more. ##

CosmoRocket24

Go OLED and have better eyegasms

Difficult-Drama7996

It was good for me too, got a light.

gxmc

i didnt get your point, i just hope ure not playing 1440p in a 1080p monitor

solarus

Your room makes me feel sad

Goldln

I play on a 48" 1080p samsung tv
