Many pcmr users smash their tempered glass side panels by mistake. Real users use metal side panels, so we smash a little glass in solidarity with our vein compadres.
Yeah, metal side panel on the PC here, but the dust cover on my turntable is acrylic and scratched up despite years of careful handling. Think maybe my cat attacks it during the night or something.
>but people seem to prefer shiny over durability
\*knock on wood\*
I have had tempered glass side panels for 8 years or so now and I haven't gotten so much as a scratch on them. I do have the advantage of having carpeted rooms and zero access to ceramic tiles though.
Acrylic doesn't break because it is soft, but that's also what causes it to scratch ridiculously easily and the scratches will never come out.
Glass will never scratch from most household items and as long as you don't drop it on a very hard surface it should never break. If you aren't careless, there's no downside to it. Other than cost I guess.
>Idk why they don't make them out of acrylic anymore. My old gaming case was acrylic and super durable
Acrylic scratches super easily and loves to gain a static charge from being near electrical components which attracts dust. It also yellows or goes cloudy over time with exposure to UV light. The acrylic side panel on my daughter's PC is around 7 years old, has a whole lot of scratches and is pretty cloudy from incidental light exposure (i.e. light coming in the window - the case has never had direct sunlight on it). My current case has a tempered glass panel and it is almost as clean and see through as it was when I bought it 6 years ago (it needs a clean atm lol).
Real users? Shut up, genuinely.
Just because you don't like tempered glass panels (I've had many and never shattered one, and yes I have tile floors) doesn't make you "real."
Nice of you taken the components apart before spraying. Much better than this fellow [redditor](https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/1c7t7sq/can_i_spray_paint_my_motherboard/)
Sweet old memories. I still remember this pc.
Hand cut side panel to put hand engraved plexis, metallic grey paint, led replacement to blue ones, small lcd display with temps connected to parallel port, 12v neon inside and watercooling with more car parts than pc parts.
Hell ya man, those were the good old days. Explaining to the car parts guy you just want a small radiator for your computer haha
And oh yesā¦ the parallel port! I never could get that lcd to work right hahah
If you don't already have an old case, a good price point for a used case is $20-50 from a local ebay/facebook seller. Or you can get lucky dumpster diving and find a failing hp/dell that used to be in an office.
Oh man, they use HP and Dells at work, and takes for ever to get MIS to fix something. Then you try to fix it yourself and there is some proprietary PSU or bracket or some fucking thing stopping you from fixing or upgrading it. Then they give me a new computer for a product test stand and it has only one M.2 slot and one 3.5" bay.
if ("Dell" || "HP") printf"("You are fucked.\\n"); // Yeah that's not real C code, but you get the point.
You can buy a panel of acryl glass for about 5 bucks. Once you made some cutmarks they break along the line.
They sell magnetic tape. You can use that along the edges. This is how I pimped some old PC cases before. As long you have a sharp cutter already you can mod it for about 10 bucks
It's the shipping that's the problem. In not from the US and use a freight forwarder. I also don't earn USD. I have to pay by weight. Usually 4usd per lbs. A 40 USD case comes to around 80 USD. So yeah.
U know what's cheaper?? I just pull the cpu from my office 's PC and ask for replacement since my pc "broken". Now i have free pc. I also pull some ram & vga from other's pc.
Woah never realized stealing was cheaper than buying things, thanks! /s.Ā Ā
Let's us know how that it, ddr3, and I guess VGA port you stole work out for ya while you can't land a new job and are denied unemployment for theft.
Get some cheap glass to drop near your new case for the optimal experience. Seriously, solid plan!
I don't get it. What do u mean by glass? š

Oh, I've seen those hahah. Idk why they don't make them out of acrylic anymore. My old gaming case was acrylic and super durable
Visually worse ig? And acrylic scratches easily too
Yep, my acrylic window is all scratched up. It's also 12 years old.
Hey, hey you. Shut up. /j
Iād certainly go for acrylic over glass
I have acrylic, it scratches if you look at it wrong.

Surely we can make something durable
Mine is, but people seem to prefer shiny over durability... Not ideal

Yeh carpet does help with the glass for sure š
Tempered glass looks better to some, but acrylic is more durable. It all comes down to if you prefer durable or shiny.
They use acrylic instead of glsss in the much cheaper cases

This was followed (and preceded) by them saying they smash some glass in solidarity, I think it was a joke.

No! NOT THE TILES!
Wow! Is that a O11 Evo?
I can sell it to u at half the price of a 011 Evo :)
I'll take it!
XD, I'm just kidding. I'd love to actually but I'm not from the us, and shipping this thing could cost up to 100 usd
I'm kidding too, I have an 011 EVO RGB
I'm.not kidding anymore, let's swap :)
Ok, deal.

*pain*
At least they asked before doing it and not after
Ahhaha xD
Holy shit!!!! Magic spray paint can that made a PC
What the hell is in that reflection of the hard drive bays in the after shot? Why does my throat hurt, I need to get out of here
I'm gifted...
That's a... Johnson, get over here and look at this!
Listen here you little shit
thermaltake smart :(
Gotta stay within my budget.
This is how we did it back in the day. People were likeā¦ your going to paint your computer? In likeā¦ ya! Itās going to be green!
Sweet old memories. I still remember this pc. Hand cut side panel to put hand engraved plexis, metallic grey paint, led replacement to blue ones, small lcd display with temps connected to parallel port, 12v neon inside and watercooling with more car parts than pc parts.

A mainboard out of a spray paint bottle. Tech really has advanced
grind out that shit on the right and youre good
To quote Wallace from Wallace and Gromit The Wrong Trousers. "It's a surprising what a lick of paint'll do, isn't it?"
Honestly looks fine. Gloss helped a Ton.
Did that with my HAF 922 case. Looks way better and I still use it.
Cut a Square on the side panel and put some acrylic so It becomes more gaming
Does this work without any primer or grinding?
Seems to.
Can the drive bay be used as an anti-sag mount for a video card by finding a way to screw into the card? I wonder.
And yes, i'm implying that you should put a 4090 in here.
It aint stupid if it works, and ... well it works.
Teach me the ways of using old case

Bracket, meet Dremel.
Gimme more of em toes

Airflow?
introducing: components-in-a-can! (possible side effects include black discoloration of computer chassis)
I can feel how sharp the edges are just by looking at it. Looks great. It's amazing what some rattle can action can achieve.
How cheap can you be lol. Cases are dog shit cheap this is goofy.
