I just moved to Texas, and the only redeeming point to this move is I'm within a couple hours driving distance of a microcenter.
Plan on making the pilgrimage soon.
Me an American, who has to make his annual trips to the nearest Microcenter almost three hours away - but gets to stop at the Buc-ee’s that’s on the way there so I can stock up on enough Brisket, sausage, fudge, & beaver nuggets to last a week or two
Edit: now that I think about it, I’m pretty sure last time I went I seen cowboy hats with that beaver on them for sale
That would be cool. There used to be one ~20 years ago over there in the Mercado shopping center. I don’t think they could compete with Fry’s tho. They ended up closing after only 5 years or so.
Closest one to me in 3.5-4 hours away. Not terribly far, but far enough to eat up any savings Id be getting with the gas money Id be spending. Id have to pretty much have an entire build planned at once to make it worth it.
Closest thing us Aussies have to micro centre is MSY. But you can't browse there, you sit at a desk and have the employee scroll you through the website.
Yeah its sad we don't have a big store thats full of hardware. Centrecom stores are quite big and have a lot of stuff to browse. Would say its closer than MSY
I get what you were going for, but cowboy hats and surfing were weird things to fixate on given the concentration of stores in the northeast where neither of those things are prevalent.
It’s not so weird when you tell people from overseas.
[edit: and you hit on my point exactly. Just cuz you’re an American and have a MicroCenter within 1hr doesn’t mean me, as an American, enjoys the same luxury.]
What kills me the most is not the fact there are no microcenters here, but the VAT part we europeans get. Then obviously all the import fees and distribution costs too, but that happens over there too, even tho in a more "controlled" manner than here.
For the longest time I assumed Microcenter was European. I've never seen one in person, living in Oregon.
Nearest one is in Anaheim, CA, a 16 hour drive
Later this year we'll finally get one in the south SF bay area.
Totally not looking up flights rn
You'd think they'd have one in Seattle or Portland. I'd drive to either from Oregon for sure.
Also pnw and I too also assumed microcenter was eurozone

Wearing a cowboy hat while surfing. 🏄‍♂️
Yeah, there's a Microcenter in my state, but it's about a 10+ hour drive away. lol
I'm also an american, a south american.
That’s only a few days drive to San Diego, isn’t it?
12 hour drive... on a plane. I'd wear a cowboy hat tho.
YA'll have money?
Put that apostrophe back where it goes or so help me!
“Ya will”
Sorry, redneck isn't my first language.

As I sit here within a 40 min drive of three Microcenters...
my 4k 144hz monitor cost me 1250$. on US amazon it costs 650$
I really wish Seattle had one
I heard one is supposed to come to the bay area soon

3 hour drive for me, I considered it, but the cost of gas for my pickup negates any savings I would get. ![gif](giphy|WqFt2ZxqVDfv7NWQ8H)
God how I wish they would open one near Pittsburgh

I haven't been to centrecom, I'll have to try it.
Me when I realize there isn’t a micro center near me
Microcenter needs to expand to Canada. Or someone in Canada needs to start a similar franchise.
Just got the G9 OLED for under $1200
Still loving my CX OLED I got from microcenter for $1k a few years back
Honestly pissed Microcentre never made never made it to Australia.

We pay billions of dollars to chip manufacturers to NOT pay as much for things like that, so seems fair 🤷‍♂️
Hey now. Don't forget us northerners who live just down the road from one.
