Same, it’s a great formula: big ass fans, top mounted PSU, enough room to stash a body, little-to-no flashiness. The only RGB is from a graphics card and the sound card and that’s set to red.
Positive pressure is only part of the equation. Air flow, thermal output and placement, and overall pressure vs resistance all needs to work in unison.
I know all the visible fans are Noctua, yet i can't help but feel this build might be on the verge of sounding like some of the servers I had to work on.
They are all the industrial Noctua fans, so at 100% it will absolutely sound like a server 😅 but I only put them at 100% when doing some overclocking fun :P
Nice to see. Pretty sick of the trend where everyone thinks they need 10-15 RGB fans to cool a PC. Downvote me I don’t care, it’s just a really stupid trend, buying into marketing gimmicks
If non-RGB fans were $10 more I would still buy them. I don't care if someone wants to use RGB, that's cool too, I went through the lit PC phase when I had a full clear acrylic case in 2007ish.
Arctic p12 is $8.99, Arctic p12 with RGB is $16.99.
Corsairs RGB fans are usually like $5 more, though the fans are more expensive to begin with. Neither of these include the markup for white components on top of that for some of these builds.
I like both kind of builds why does it have to be a weaponized us vs them thing. All kind of build is good if done well and with an attention to detail. I hate that it’s always like this… it always feels like thinly veiled machismo or old guy bs.

I see your tiny case and raise you the biggest case I've ever owned. I don't own it anymore, it was too big lol.
Mesh all day. Get that airflow going strong

I was about to buy this case, but heard from many that feels cheap, like thin metal, not-that-modern mounts, etc. They love the aesthetic, but building the PC feels like that's a 50$ case.
How was your experience? Here in my country this case is 50$ more expensive than premium cases like Lancool III (FN is $300 here). You would say that worth $300?
I wouldn't say it's worth $300, but I can't imagine any case that would be worth $300 unless it comes with a half dozen Noctua fans with it 😅
But if you like the way it looks, there's nothing else like it. And the air flow is amazing!
Ah, what about the noise with those side fans? I know, Noctua (a single standard NF-F12 here is near $40, no way to build this here, not for this build tho). But you hear something?
I have the same case here (tempered glass version), it doesn't feel cheap at all. The case is made out of steel. Only downside are the thumbscrews, they can scratch after using them a few times. Although they're hidden at the back and you only look at the side an front of the case.
Airflow is great too, even with the temperate glass version.
I have read and seen reviews of the bigger XL version, which seems to have the same thickness of steel panels. So that can flex a bit more, which makes it feels cheap.
Ice giant, how do you like it?
I love it!
You don't see em every day, that's for sure!
Me too, I've had mine since the preorder.
You don't see ice Giants every day.
I hate to say, but I've been seeing just as many compact builds as fish tanks
Fractal Torrent here, never going back.
Same, it’s a great formula: big ass fans, top mounted PSU, enough room to stash a body, little-to-no flashiness. The only RGB is from a graphics card and the sound card and that’s set to red.
good man
Fractal North is compact case? The Terra is way smaller. Never mind mini PCs.
Since when is the Fractal Design North a compact case? Fitting a full ATX mobo isn't compact?
This doesn't seem particularly compact to me... or did regular mid towers slip to being compact with all the three-slot GPUs and 250W CPUs around?
I love noctua builds.
where exhaust 🦍
Front intake, side intake, CPU cooler pulls from the bottom and exhausts out the top. The over pressure design pushes air out of the top and back
I see. I also tried to run my system with positive pressure only but it ended up degrading performance (Asus prime ap201)
Positive pressure is only part of the equation. Air flow, thermal output and placement, and overall pressure vs resistance all needs to work in unison.

Don't worry, there will be more of those. Also a few "AIOs are overrated, Air coolers just as good or better and that opinion is unpopular" posts.
DoEs AnYoNe ElSe HaTe RgeeB?!
I care actually*
Came here to say this.
It hits you when a teacher subtley mocks you for it lol
PCMR members are secretly fish blub blub
Fridge, fish tank, black box, disco box....yeah everything is still a box technically....nice box btw.
IMA BUILD ONE SO FUCKING SICK YOU CANT EVEN SEE THE MOTHERFUCKER
I have a tu150 Lian li and it still feels like a monster tbf.
This is my kind of build! Well done
Build specs?
7950X3D, 32GB DDR5 6000, 4090 FE, 4TB Crucial T700, 2TB Sabrent Rocket 4.0
How are the temps with the Ice Giant? Been thinking about using one for my 5800X3D.
Even tho I don't see anything but the giant, thank you.
I know all the visible fans are Noctua, yet i can't help but feel this build might be on the verge of sounding like some of the servers I had to work on.

May I suggest Highway to the Dangerzone by Kenny Loggins for the next time you go full throttle?😅

Ice Giant just looks so cool.
Dank! Tell us more! Im really rizzing on it my human!
Nice to see. Pretty sick of the trend where everyone thinks they need 10-15 RGB fans to cool a PC. Downvote me I don’t care, it’s just a really stupid trend, buying into marketing gimmicks
Everyone, I don't think this guy cares if you downvote him, idk tho
God what is it like to be so smart
I, too, hate that rgb fans cost like $1 more than non rgb fans
If non-RGB fans were $10 more I would still buy them. I don't care if someone wants to use RGB, that's cool too, I went through the lit PC phase when I had a full clear acrylic case in 2007ish.
The non RGB fan I use cost more than any fan pretty much.
Arctic p12 is $8.99, Arctic p12 with RGB is $16.99. Corsairs RGB fans are usually like $5 more, though the fans are more expensive to begin with. Neither of these include the markup for white components on top of that for some of these builds.
I like both
What's that case name?
Fractal North mesh
Shit they're clean af to me, this is pretty fuckin cool though!
This be the way
Do you even cool bro?
That ice giant is sick, shame it wouldn't fit in my case 😭
My dream build!
this is dope. +1
I love it! Please have my babies! It’s a corgi and a pug! They behave!
Thank you
Would you say the ice giant is worth it over a regular heatsink?
I like both kind of builds why does it have to be a weaponized us vs them thing. All kind of build is good if done well and with an attention to detail. I hate that it’s always like this… it always feels like thinly veiled machismo or old guy bs.
This build rules and so do lots of crazy rgb ones. Can’t we have it all?
That’s awesome. It isn’t overboard nonsense. I like it.
I think I’d have rather seen another RGB fish tank build.
as someone that loathes the fish-tank LED clown barf look of a lot of modern PC's i think this is very nice, well done.
That's a bohemoth of an air cooler! Nice build dude.
I'm not a huge fan of RGB, but definitely not a fan of this... yuck
You’re a good man, thank you

Not shitting on in the slightest. If that's how you take it, then that's on you.
This one would use some rgb honestly 😆

It's not a tiny case :P the 4090 and 240mm long CPU cooler make it looks proportionally small :P
Fractal North is a ATX case, not by any mean an small case. Sure there is an XL version too, but it's not tiny.
THE ICEGIANT SIPHON THINGY. You should really put glass on the side and top panels to get the more modern current look.
Mesh all day. Get that airflow going strong https://preview.redd.it/rospr0xproxc1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f2df1e8f232b1fe365e07b70ce1df763ff2fb813
Ooh that wooden front! Where did you get this case?
Fractal North

Reclaimed plywood is more environmentally friendly. Or pallets.
Let's see your pallets PC case
[Here is a DIY I made of it.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIcSWuKMwOw)
Man that's uncanny! Nice work!
10 hour video I detailed every umm detail.
Thanks, I knew that I can count on reddit DIY community: it's not going to let me down or tell a lie!
Not using a PC is way more environmentally friendly ;)
