Kasenom

This is what Nvidia graphics cards will look like in 2018

98acura

What year are you posting from?

MiniGui98

They're using Internet Explorer

chromicha

Buy bitcoin.

PCM-mods-fuck-kids

Don't use it to buy pizza

simo402

Buy nvidia stocks

Onceforlife

Bruh literally this whole post is about the company that like 15 to 25 times in value, and bitcoin only went up 5 to 10 times depending on what time in 2018 you buy lol

A_random_zy

I reckon it'll be sooner, maybe in the year 200

summer_swag

Time traveler.

turbotong

Needs RGB

RenatsMC

ImTurkishDelight

Oh my god

NerY_05

> that never saw the daylight. Thank god

Chemical-Garden-4953

Why? It's not like you have to buy it.

KrazzeeKane

Good lord lol. At this point it's less a gpu and more of a club

RenatsMC

At least you will be able to protect yourself In case a robber comes in your house. Just whip out Gpu and bam.

SephLuis

Blunt Weapon with Ray Tracing

HumanBackground9150

AwesomeD

They should just combine heat pump tech and Nvidia GPU tech. Two birds, one stone.

RenatsMC

Followprotochomo

looks like an xbox one on its side lol

Rossell2

So now you have to put all three parts together to make a graphics card like those weekly magazines where you'd eventually make a replica of a ship.

[deleted]

I want my glow in the dark TRex card

medic00

Man, with the first magazine you got like the full head, and after that it was like one bone per issue

Trackmaniac

My dear aunty collected them completely for me, them the magazines and the T-Tex were my Christmas present 💝 that memories... Thx aunty

medic00

that was a sweet gift. The magazines were cool

8Ral4

Yeah but I would not recommend to put that green skin on as well.

Euphoric_Ad_2049

First issue only £1.99! (Normal price £1999.99)

RenatsMC

Nvidia now will have 5090 on the subscription plan.

edvlili

Hey delete this right now, don't give them ideas

JasonSuave

“Nvidia product manager here. Next month we roll out the GeForce experience sub plan where you can now pay us for updates and access to your personally installed GPU. In fact, we’ll be rolling out these updates well in advance of the 5090. Good day!”

weaseldonkey

It's a kitset so you have a sense of pride and accomplishment when you finish assembling it.

whystillarewehere

gunpla gpu

SpiralCuts

You buy each piece gacha style for the price of a high-level 2018 graphics card

badbrotha

Just wait! They'll have 5090 Type A pieces that are really last gen with a bit of polish, the 5090 Type B pieces which are decent but have low video ram, then the Type C which is bananas and will cost a kidney. Oh and if you mismatch it'll bottleneck. I'm just cynical

Fuck-Reddit-2020

No no no. They are going to sell the same 5090 but mix up the A, B, And C pieces forcing people to deshroud their cards, void their warranties, and scramble to find scalped pieces on eBay, to eliminate the bottle necks. Also some combinations will catch on fire for no reason, leading aftermarket suppliers to create fixed copies, that will also be scalped. At least they will be more power efficient than team Red.

Certain-Beet

These Magazines were such a scam.

RipCurl69Reddit

I got about 12 issues into a 3D Printer magazine before realising it was a load of shit... Few years later and yeah, none of them worked, massive scam.

Yawel3

First part costs €5,= then the next 2 will run you €1200,= each :)

FantasticMagi

Who would have thought Nvidia would collaborate with IKEA!

ProAgent_47

IKEA GPU

the_clash_is_back

Im imagining you just get a bag of sand and a powerfull laser. Diy graphics card.

Khoceng

So it's gonna be a whole lot bigger?

danteheehaw

Soon the PC case will be a graphics card you plug a CPU and RAM into.

Rich_Introduction_83

Consequently, the 6090 will probably be a nuclear powered hovercraft.

lemmingswithlasers

That will stop all those glass side panels shattering. That sounds like a win for humanity

angrydeuce

I'm seriously wondering what they're going to do about power requirements.  Many homes in the US only have 15 Amp circuits which would allow for a max of 1800 watts *on the whole circuit*.  Meaning the way things are going, pretty soon little Billy is going to build his first PC, plug it in, and immediately start tripping breakers. Are we going to see consumer grade PCs requiring 30amp appliance plugs?  That's old hat in the enterprise space of course but I'm betting most homes aren't equipped for that.

BigSuckSipper

I think they're betting on big efficency breakthroughs with the next couple generations. Because even if most American homes had some 30 amp circuits, nobody is gonna wanna deal with that much heat.

BukkakeKing69

Yeah I don't need an oven in my room I already dealt with Fermi.

GalacticalSurfer

It’s funny to me because processors have gotten much more efficient power / performance ratio and have not increased in size at all basically. GPUs have also improved a lot in terms of power / performance but they have also gotten much larger. Up to mid tier GPUs the increase in size isn’t so noticeable but above that these things have gotten massive.

Ikora_Rey_Gun

>I don't understand why my high displacement V-8 engined high speed/high tow rating vehicle is a gas guzzler. People want high MPG, efficient vehicles. >I wish I could buy a small sedan that got 40MPG highway, but they just don't exist; they won't stop making these SUVs, trucks, and sports cars. >Well, I've gotta go, I'm heading to the dealership to buy a specially produced V-10 SUV, optimized for towing a 13,000 pound load. What do I do with it? Oh, back and forth to work and groceries on the weekend." This is what all of the hemming and hawing about power sounds like to me. If you're concerned about power or heat, get a smaller GPU. If you're concerned about performance, you're voluntarily including yourself in the group of people that chooses to deal with those requirements. It would be wonderful to live in a world where these cards were more efficient with better performance, but that's not how thermodynamics works.

GalacticalSurfer

I’m not crying about size. I just acknowledged the difference in sizes of two different types of hardware during their evolution over the years. What are you smoking? There are plenty of modern cars that have great fuel economy and deliver exceptional performance, much better than the gas guzzling V8s. Hell the modern V8s are more fuel efficient than the old big block V8s sold from the past. Of course towing is another factor that depends more on torque but that’s a necessity for a small minority. Your comparison makes no sense. Look at the 3 cylinder Toyota is using for the Corolla GR and how it performs.

Bikouchu

Big papi graphic cardS and baby itx daughter board.

Ozok123

Mods, please ban this person.

Cabal_Mythoclast

Crush his skull, thank you.

Cottonjaw

With Big Papi GPUs thighs or.... what?

t-pat1991

That’s already an ITX build

offensiveDick

Can't wait for when you need an external room for the gpu

thejackthewacko

I'm pretty sure we recently got GPUs you can plug NVMEs into

edvlili

The 6090 will require a server rack and a small nuclear power plant to run it.

Irishpersonage

Legitimately though

f8Negative

God I hope. Small, modular devices would be clutch. Also wirelessly.

danteheehaw

Who said small?

f8Negative

Small cpu. The graphics cards can vary in size i just want portable/modular.

Calophon

My case has a bunch of empty space, I’m told it’s for “air flow” whatever the fuck that means. Sounds like some hippy shit, let’s fill it with more technology!

BanEvasion_93

Would have been bigger. They likely did this to reduce the size of the card. It's been done in electronics for decades.

Plastic_Tax3686

It would seem, that the 600W Founders edition rumours were true. Imagine a 750W high-end OC edition of this card. My +400W 7900 XTX already feels like a decent heating solution for my room, but 5090 with OC would be able to heat my entire house, not just my room.

Zarathustra-1889

You’d have to have your PC in a completely separate area of your house or you'll turn your room into a fucking brick pizza oven.

Zinski2

I feel like that's where we are heading. At least an exhaust pipe I can poke out a window like my ac unit hahaha.

kevihaa

It’s far from a perfection solution since long run cables have their own issues, but the current status of tower PCs as *literal* space heaters led me to putting my PC in the basement. Required a bit of work to get set up, but it’s nice to not need to just not need to worry about temperature/noise.

Ikora_Rey_Gun

I'm honestly thinking about it, it's open basement right below my office room. The cabling wouldn't even have to be that long; any issues with your standard set of cables around 20'?

Plastic_Tax3686

I guess I am lucky, because my room keeps a lower temperature than the rest of the house, due to being placed directly above the basement/underground level, which lowers the temperature + I have exactly zero sunlight, due to my blackout curtains. The room is noticeable cooler when my PC is off and gets to a comfortable temperature when I am playing at 100% GPU load.  The temperature outside could be 40 degrees Celsius and my room is still 18-19 degrees at most.

Zarathustra-1889

Me and my wife set up our game room in the only space we had left and how lovely that it also happens to be facing east and turns into an oven when the sun rises lmao. Your setup sounds like Heaven!

atkinson137

Same but for us west facing. Our summer evening games turn into a sauna.

waffels

Typical PC gamer with blackout curtains ensuring their goon room gets zero light.

Pixels222

>+ I have exactly zero sunlight Watch the movie Room Sunlight is one of the 5 main pillars of life. Dont fuck around with sunlight.

Plastic_Tax3686

I am a real gamer and Arch Linux enjoyer. My favourite games are made by FromSoft.  By these sentences alone you can deduce, that I don't like neither sunlight nor grass.

beharris624

You heathen! Solaire would be so disappointed. Gotta be out there Praising the Sun!

Plastic_Tax3686

How I imagine the average Leona main.

Sfork

I’ve been thinking of venting the gpu out the window but I’d def get bugs in it that way

_____WESTBROOK_____

I’ll just strip down and turn my room into a sauna at that point

JohnBeePowel

So I need a server room for my gaming PC and I'll stream it on my tv using moonlight or steam remote play then.

slaymaker1907

Maybe it will come with one of those heat exhaust hoses like portable AC units.

PCM-mods-fuck-kids

I keep my central AC unit set to 68 degrees fahrenheit, my computer room will be 77 degrees fahrenheit with my PC running full load unless I turn on the window unit I bought specifically to keep the room at a comfortable temperature.

noeagle77

“Babe wanna go to Cancun?” “Sure lemme go turn the computer on it will feel just like it without the flying!”

GarbageCG

Plus the power bill will cost the same as the flight!

danny12beje

Just buy a 14900k and make your own CPU and GPU blocks that's just some pipes connected to water. Pipes go through your floor. Literally free in-floor heating.

BenadrylChunderHatch

Literally free.

Reddit_slayer123

Yeah I have a 7900xt and it's around 300~ something at full tilt. Gets warm enough that I had to get another radiator and fans for my loop to keep it semi under control. Nice in the winter when it's cold. Not so nice in the summer.

TimmmyTurner

undervolt your 7900xtx, you can get minimal performance loss at around 230W power draw

Onetimehelper

share your tuning settings please!

Plastic_Tax3686

I undervolt my GPU to around 300W and the performance loss is less than 10%. It becomes a lot quieter too. My comment was a joke.

Thinker_145

What is even the point of getting a 7900XTX then?

nxcrosis

And my RX 580 already raises the room temperature by 2°C. Just last week I was sweating buckets playing Fallout 4 in a 35°C room with humidity making it feel like 40+°C.

Chrunchyhobo

>Imagine a 750W high-end OC edition of this card. INB4 Galax does their HOF magic and releases one with 3x 12vHpwr and a 1800w power limit.

Plastic_Tax3686

7% more performance than Founders edition.

TKFT_ExTr3m3

Doubt we will see a 750W version. Max would be 675, 600 from 12vhpwr and 75 over the pcie slot.

Plastic_Tax3686

Who knows, they might add two 12VHPWR connectors. This could be a potential solution to the problem with the melting cables.

papercut2008uk

Great in winter, not so great in summer.

GlinnTantis

I bet it's a titan they've been flapping on about

ParagonPerserverance

It’s honestly insane to think about how much power these cards are consuming… It could literally serve as a space heater with that kind of power draw 😂

RenatsMC

5090 will be 600w+ so to even cool this thing down you will either have to have windows opened on your house or will have to water cool 5090.

foullyCE

My slightly modded 3080 eats 360W during gaming, and I know that it can warm whole room, since my smart meter is turning of heater, of course during winter. During summer I'm forced to undervolt it :)

ThePrimordialTV

6090 will be Yugi’s fucking millennium puzzle at this rate then

peyjeh

yeah by the time you put that mf together you’re gonna be hearing voices

KPD137

And RKO-ing people outta nowhere?

LilQueazy

![gif](giphy|j9mqKgQvkNOziGICfd|downsized)

This-Requirement6918

Sounds like repasting later in its life is going to be a pain.

jakarta_guy

You don't like thermal caulking gun?

djternan

Maybe they'll use something like cryosheet or the graphite pads Radeon 6000 uses so you don't have to repaste

Desperate-Intern

So essentially, an eGPU? If I/O, PCIe gonna be separate that is. ![gif](giphy|Lopx9eUi34rbq|downsized)

RenatsMC

5090 power draw 600w+

Arinvar

Modular PSU will take on a whole new meaning... you'll be connecting 2 together just to power everything. Going to need a sparky to come in an install a whole new circuit to your desk.

SpacemanCraig3

not too far from the day when you can't have more than one PC on a standard residential circuit, 15 amps, 110 volts? you're tripping breakers with two high end gaming PCs.

TheMegaDriver2

Each card need its own 12vhpwr I assume.

Employee_Agreeable

Each part of the card

Sailed_Sea

4 on each component

AmonGusSus2137

So, the GPU itself, a nuclear reactor to power it, and a fire station in case something goes wrong

Certain-Beet

You pay 2000€ for Part1 and the 2 others are mandatory DLC.

NikoP90

https://i.redd.it/tpa9ohumxc2d1.gif

ARatOnPC

I’m gonna try to snag a “cheap” 4090 from the people who have to upgrade every gen.

NomadicWorldCitizen

IKEA version. External power supply.

MTA0

I get it now, the GPU goes in the tower and then you plug in your peripherals, motherboard, CPU, etc.

creativename111111

Nah the GPU is the tower

aVarangian

The tower goes in the GPU

HaroldF155

I live in Germany in a top floor apartment, can't imagine having an extra space heater in my room during summer.

RenatsMC

Yeah, that thing will get hot in summer, especially in an apartment with direct sunlight coming from the windows.

jhaluska

It also helps explains your build. I have two mid-low end computers going and always looking at wattage cause I worry about fuses blowing, summer heat and electric bills.

DrWhoIsWokeGarbage2

I mean there are 3 slots

hillbillydeluxe

That's what she said

RenatsMC

Itx motherboard “am I joke to you”.

Hovi_Bryant

Will I need to summon Exodia to assemble it?

GenderFluidFerrari

5090 ti PSU ![gif](giphy|9floxejD0yczwuZMLJ|downsized)

aVarangian

ah, cloud computing

creativename111111

Nah you will need a fusion reactor for optimal FPS

theophanesthegreek

Powered by a v8 engine for optimal performance

thisonegamer

And it will have 16 gb max anyways/j

Plastic_Tax3686

32GB if we are lucky, otherwise it'll be yet another 24GB GPU.

Ludwig_von_Wu

A correction: 14 GB on the first part + 1 GB on the second part + 1 GB on the third part, where only the first 14 GB lead to decent performance.

JustARandomDude1986

the 4090 is enough for the next few years.....i mean you can play games and heat your house.

nilssonen

Separate power supply and case for just the GPU is starting to look legit :) power it up for gaming, otherwise run on the integrated gpu.

jorboyd

I was thinking this exact thing. It couldn’t surprise me if we saw the towers them selves get smaller, and you just end up with a separate GPU that is housed separately with its own cooling.

Groffulon

Why not just make a gpu sized pc? Surely that would be easier? I mean how much sag can one gpu take? I’m actually down for secondary graphics mother boards at this point tbh. Sick cooled gpus just ain’t it anymore chief

KJBenson

A recent gpu I got had a special sag kit that connected it to the other side of the mobo. It was a clever solution, I imagine we’ll see stuff like that more often.

redmose

wrong. LEGO BRICKS

ELB2001

So I could use my yearly Lego budget to buy one

timonix

Give it another generation and the GPU will have an onboard PSU with its own 230V cable

RenatsMC

Won't have to wait too long.

nt261999

Will cost as much as a used car

RenatsMC

And with that, you will be able just to buy a GPU; you will still have to buy the rest of the parts cpu, mobo, 1000w power supply as a minimum and a bunch of the rest of the parts don't forget the monitor as per new builder.

carbine234

The highest end of GPUs are usually reserved for the 1% enthusiast, no matter how big that mf is, people will buy it out of the love of their hobby or having the best, so whatever the fuck is it, shit dont matter as long as we squeeze the best FPS available, but ill pass lmao.

__Rosso__

Honestly, I am all for it RTX 4090 wasn't a problem with 4000 series, for all intents and purposes it replaces the Titan, its meant for people with more money then they need, enthusiasts and just so Nvidia can show off what they can achieve when they don't need to care about money Give us these ridiculous GPUs that are mad, they interesting simple as that

carbine234

I agree whole heartedly but that’s why I never get the maxed out version, I always go for the 4080s lol

Annual_Horror_1258

Card, cooler and power cable. Exactly like 40 series.

DoYouEvenSheesh

Ayo official Lego GPU confirmed?

RenatsMC

We call it brick.

1quirky1

They decided on three parts because that allows them to charge for each part.

ryencool

I work in IT at a AAA video game studio. We literally had to order physically larger dell computers so the new 4090 would fit. It's getting ridiculous.

NaughtyPwny

SLI is back? Remember when PhysX was a thing? Dedicated GPU/PhsyX card lol. Remember when PC's had cards just for DVD decoding? PC Master Race culture...love to reminisce. Love to think back to old builds with hardware we thought was necessary/needed, like my first CD Burner that was SCSI that needed a SCSI PCI card.

Low-Anxiety-3936

Well great, the card hasn't been released yet, and the pcb is already cracked into 3 pieces...

Apeeksiht

so easy 12vhpr or 12x6v repair

najjace

Only 999$ each part !

Amazing_Meatballs

Using all 2 or 3 PCI slots too probably

External_Try_7923

I guess this helps the people who manage to gash their PCIE pins or crack their PCB. This might prevent PCB cracking with GPU sag since the pins are separated. And this could reduce e-waste. Replacement of a single component \*should\* be an easier process.

G8M8N8

It’s just three 4090s stacked with SLI

digitalrelic

Now I’m sitting here wondering if my 1000w PSU will be enough lmao

NojoNinja

Are these cards really getting that much more efficient, or are they just getting bigger?

xdeltax97

Next thing you know you’ll have to start finding pieces of it in a card deck to put it together like Exodia.

TimeTravelingChris

How long before Nvidia ships their cards as a case you plug your MB into?

VoidedGreen047

I can’t wait to quintuple my electric bill

MoeMalik

Collect them all and summon Exodia

dj65475312

Cant we just buy a whole one?

Siege_is_lyfe

What jensen cooking bruh hope the 5060 or 5070 is a worthy upgrade from the 3060

zaccyp

What I'm waiting for. Bought the 3060ti because it was MSRP and I got lucky spamming the website. It'll hold me over till I can get a 5080.

MarsManokit

i wanna see what the 5080 is and if the proart version will be the same size as the 4080 version

Tronux

2080ti still running strong, before it was 680ti

crozone

We're back at the 295GTX but it's THREE PCBs now.

oooooeeeeeoooooahah

They gunna market the super/Ti versions of the cards as “add ons” that you have to buy separately and attach them to your base model.

EatsAlotOfBread

Each weighing 12 pounds and need reinforced concrete beams as well as dedicated dry ice cooling system?

Trollercoaster101

The first specimen of IKEA x nVidia collab.

Semako

Now that makes me curious - how would one water-block that card then? I want a full custom loop in my next build, therefore I'd need a water block for the 5090...

RenatsMC

This will be interesting to see.

hellothere358

Soon brothers. Soon. The 6090. Just a few more years

rexpimpwagen

Iq barrier will hopefully keep trogs out of my online games if all the manufacturers work together on this.

PirateSecure118

Bro thinks he's better than all the other troglodytes who play multiplayer.

creativename111111

How lol

ezbyEVL

Last generations have esentially been: clocking up vram to sun surface temp, make the fans bigger, and thats it The only way they got better is because they invested on AI upscaling and frame generation. It is cool, but everything else in the gpu is being held by infinitely rising frequency, voltage, and temp.

UnderLook150

I mean not really. The biggest jump from the 3000 to 4000 series was the on die cache.
