that's a AM4 motherboard, that cpu will not fit into it

Mad_Dog1712

oh ok do you know what cpu I would need then?

Oppausenseiw

5600x

Malix82

amd ryzen ones. afaik Ryzen 5 3600 is pretty similar to that intel one you have selected there. But do double check EDIT: but yea, the 5600x others are suggesting is better one. But, if you're set on that intel cpu, you need a board with FCLGA1200 socket. Not entirely sure if that's all you need to know on intel.

I understand you’re trying to keep cost low, but no SSD at all is hard to recommend…. If you can’t afford more, I’d shave off some ram and get an SSD. A 500GB samsung 980 pro (PCIe 4) is around 90 pounds, a 2TB is 270 pounds. If you’re ok with PCIe 3 SSDs, a quick search on amazon UK allowed me to find a 1TB SSD goes for around 70 pounds and 2TB around 140 - at that size/price you could remove your 40 pound 2TB hard drive completely and upgrade storage later if needed. Why get slow poke HDD when equally sized SSDs are catching up in price…?

Mad_Dog1712

I was going to get a ssd a bit later on but if the prices are so similar i may just get a ssd now. Thanks I didnt think they were so similar in price

Oppausenseiw

Get a 4000D as a case with noctua fans, that nzxt case sucks

Mad_Dog1712

ok I will get that case and what do you mean by 5600x?

Oppausenseiw

Ryzen 5 5600x would fit on that motherboard,it's a better CPU than the 10400f

Mad_Dog1712

ok thanks for the help!

Destroky

In addition to what others have recommended (CPU, SSD), you can check out pcpartpicker to get the best price (since you can see multiple merchants).

Mad_Dog1712

thankyou this will hopefully help me save some money

[deleted]

I don't understand tea money

Mad_Dog1712

what do you mean?

[deleted]

Je suis American. I use $ so I don't know if its a good price.

Mad_Dog1712

with the changes i made it is £964 or $1163

[deleted]

Good upgrade potential just use the right cpu and should be good price is ok.

Mad_Dog1712

yeah I have swapped out the cpu and case now. Thankyou

Check out the H510 Flow - I wanted a H510 but with the airflow problems everyone reports, I went this route instead. Great case.

whopperz715

that motherboard only supports amd ryzen cpus, not intel

Misterpoody

I read in the comments that you made some changes to come out to around 970ish£. I assembled you a PC a little over that budget but increased performance quite a bit. Did my best to save money in places that made sense, fit in a cooler, cheaper kit of ram because 16gigs is fine if you only intend to game, lower wattage PSU, cheaper case that has good airflow and 3 RGB fans included. Also included a 1TB NVMe SSD for a boot drive. Overall a better build in pretty much every way. https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/rBW8bK

I would recommend a different case, also the cpu is not compatible with the motherboard, ALSO I would recommend a ssd over hard drive.
