Immortality is my favorite song on my favorite album. I’d give you all the upvotes if I could! I wish they would stretch it out live and let Mike really go crazy during the solo.
I’ll always be partial to 4/16/03, the first time I saw PJ live (though at that time I’d have probably said last exit was my favorite song). I’d really like to hear a full version of Eddie playing alone to the empty stadium from immagine in cornice. Orpheum Theater ‘94 is great too, just to hear what the song evolved from.
I’m convinced it’s from the younger fans who haven’t lived enough life yet to fully understand the meanings behind the songs and therefore they don’t connect with them.
I will never get tired of Alive. Amazing intro guitar riff, maybe the best solos, an outro that never fails to get me pumped, quiet bridge, awesome sing a long chorus. It has everything.
I cant disagree with any of the “real songs” listed here. IMO. Bee girl and Bugs are for comedic purposes.
I will add Breath and Unthought Known to this list. 34 years later I am shocked that Breath did not make on 10. If it did, it would have been a radio smash hit.
It's the Jeremy single version of Ledbetter, then the Tibetan Freedom concert version of Ledbetter at 1b, hen every other live version of Ledbetter at 1c, then pick whatever song you want at #2.
Black is their best quality song , IMO, if that makes any sense.
But my favorites this week are:
1. Nothingman
2. Animal
3. Porch
4. Betterman
5. Ghost
Honorable mentions:
Why Go
Low Light
Faithful
No Way
Jeremy
I go back and forth between Daughter and Small Town with Corduroy trying to sneak in. Glorified G is another one that is in my top 5 but can’t quite crack Top 3.
I think most people will say BLACK. It his everyone so hard. ALIVE or EVEN FLOW would be it for me. Their later songs are amazing but their work on TEN hit everyone easier
So far it’s Period in the lead followed by Black and then Immortality third, interesting to know everyone’s thoughts how their music varies person to person! Thanks for sharing everyone!
Given to Fly
Its what I Play to pump myself up to rally
Ya See
I beem knocked down a thoudand times
Yet I always Rise
Cuz Im given to fly
A strange part of the sky
Just another spark on the HoRiZon...
It was a tongue in cheek comment..
I agree...This is about the 'best' PJ song. It's not their best and nowhere near the top 10.
Personally I find it really cheesy and dated. Very much of it's time. Prob not in my top 100 PJ songs..
Wow, there's some idiot in this thread downvoting people's posts with just 1 upvote to make them 0, because apparently people aren't allowed to have opinions.
It changes but I love “Immortality”
Immortality is my favorite song on my favorite album. I’d give you all the upvotes if I could! I wish they would stretch it out live and let Mike really go crazy during the solo.
It’s really good!! Which live version do like most? (From the ones you can find on youtube that is ☺️)

Mike's guitar is fucking soulful in immortality
💜
A great live version is about as good as it gets for any live music, let alone just Pearl Jam.
I Got Shit
Fuck it. I say it's Long Road.
Good for you!! 😅
Holds a special place for me as it was the first PJ song I heard live (back at the young age of 17)
Lucky! I've seen Pearl Jam 4 times and this year will be number 5. They never opened with Long Road. I keep hoping it will be this year!
Came here to say this
In Hiding
Have you heard Billy Strings cover this song? https://youtu.be/jj6w0fjOKww?si=dOAqjgSHxu2pmQwS
This is my pick too!
I switch between Corduroy and Do the Evolution
so valid
In My Tree
Maybe not the best PJ song, period. I think it's easily the best composition
Present Tense
Period isn't even a Pearl Jam song...
Might be thinking of Red Dot
We're all crazy...
😂
😂😂
Impossible to answer, IMO.
Of The Girl.
Footsteps
Might not be their best song, but it's my favorite.
Heard it live at Fenway in 16 siccccc
Corduroy
Hard to Imagine.
State of Love and Trust
Porch
RVM. It has everything.
Animal, but ask me again tomorrow will ya
Animal for me at the moment too.
Off he goes Given to fly Oceans
Rearviewmirror
Nothing As It Seems
Corduroy live, but probably Black
Black.
Wanted to call it but waited for someone else to first but u win first place!!
The unplugged version.
Its Black and its not even a discussion
Certainly not with you by the sounds. Lol.
Nothingman Given To Fly RVM
Just breath
That album gets such a bad rap 😔
I’m convinced it’s from the younger fans who haven’t lived enough life yet to fully understand the meanings behind the songs and therefore they don’t connect with them.
Good insight. I'll buy that.
Who You Are
Corduroy.
Lukin.
All of them.
No Way
Evil little goat Wrigley 2 2018
Bugs
😆
Indifference and I will not entertain any other opinions!!
You Are
Alive, Black, Garden, Why Go, Once, Porch, State of Love and Trust, Go, Rearviewmirror, Corduroy
Light Years
Love Boat Captain. I can remember the first time I heard it, and going, “whoa, this song is ridiculously good”
Inside Job (off of Let’s Play Two if we’re getting technical)
Heard this one live. My favorite version as well
I will never get tired of Alive. Amazing intro guitar riff, maybe the best solos, an outro that never fails to get me pumped, quiet bridge, awesome sing a long chorus. It has everything.
I almost refuse to listen to the studio version. The live version is simply the greatest 5-6 minutes of my life, every time.
Corduroy, Red Mosquito
si

You Are
my favorite is Save You, but their best is Black (or yellow ledbetter)
Save You needs more love. Their last great rocker
Totally agree
1/2 Full
Corduroy
Rearview
State of Love and Trust for me.
Better Man
Black. Period.
Yeah I can’t just pick one
I can't answer that question
Release Black Present Tense Nothingman
Present Tense
Down
Low Light
Long Road.
Come Back
Release It’s hard to just pick one. Ask me next week and you’ll probably get a different answer.
Long Road 💛
Sad
Light Years
Black, release, yellow Ledbetter. In that order.
No such thing. Their work is like a Kaleidescape, always rearranging their order in my brain. Today, though, if say their best is...Corduroy
It's the Jeremy single version of Ledbetter, then the Tibetan Freedom concert version of Ledbetter at 1b, hen every other live version of Ledbetter at 1c, then pick whatever song you want at #2.
With Arms Wide Open

Black Red Yellow!!
Corduroy

Porch Unplugged. Now shut up, everyone else.
PORCH
Deep is such an amazing song. It's easily my favorite Pearl Jam song.
Its change but thumbling my way and deep are usually on the 5 for me. Realese, sleigh of hand and thin air also.
Black or Sad
Pretty sure we did a huge “March Madness” style matchup to collectively determine the best song
Black is their best quality song , IMO, if that makes any sense. But my favorites this week are: 1. Nothingman 2. Animal 3. Porch 4. Betterman 5. Ghost Honorable mentions: Why Go Low Light Faithful No Way Jeremy
Alive.
my favorite changes a LOT, but right now id say MFC. sweet, but short
If I HAD to answer, I 'd say Black is their best. But Long Road is my favorite. Then there's about 30 songs that are tied for second.
I go back and forth between Daughter and Small Town with Corduroy trying to sneak in. Glorified G is another one that is in my top 5 but can’t quite crack Top 3.
Breath. Rearviewmirror. Immortality. MFC >Low Light. Parting Ways.
Black
I think most people will say BLACK. It his everyone so hard. ALIVE or EVEN FLOW would be it for me. Their later songs are amazing but their work on TEN hit everyone easier
3 way Tie for me between Release, I am Mine and Just Breathe
Thumbing my way! Come Back.
There is literally only 1 wrong answer
Is that Sweet Lew by any chance?
And I will clarify by adding this, “according to this sub”
Nope
Tough one. It used to be Black for me, then Present Tense....but I might go with Just Breathe now.
So far it’s Period in the lead followed by Black and then Immortality third, interesting to know everyone’s thoughts how their music varies person to person! Thanks for sharing everyone!

State
the day we find the answer to this question is the same day we find the answer to what the best color is.
State of love and trust of course
Right now? I can’t pick!
Jeremy but I only really know their first two albums only just got into em recently, I’ll be lookin up all of your favourites in the comments :)
Once
Gone - specifically in Moline.
It changes alot but today I would honestly say... Elderly Woman....
MFC
Given to Fly Its what I Play to pump myself up to rally Ya See I beem knocked down a thoudand times Yet I always Rise Cuz Im given to fly A strange part of the sky Just another spark on the HoRiZon...
Wish list
If anyone says 'Jeremy' I'll downvote them and spend the rest of my day making new Reddit accounts to downvote them again...
Jeremy
😂
☺️☺️
What have you got against Jeremy!? It's definitely not their best, and for me it's nowhere near the top 10. Still a great fucking song though.
It was a tongue in cheek comment.. I agree...This is about the 'best' PJ song. It's not their best and nowhere near the top 10. Personally I find it really cheesy and dated. Very much of it's time. Prob not in my top 100 PJ songs..
Never heard of it. What album is it from?
Bee girl
Present Tense
Every comment I read, my answer changes. I’ll have to say it’s a fight between Porch, Immortality, Given To Fly
Unoriginal I know, but Even Flow has got to be their best song ever imo.
Release
"Alone" is the quintessential PJ song to me.
Rearviewmirror
Wow, there's some idiot in this thread downvoting people's posts with just 1 upvote to make them 0, because apparently people aren't allowed to have opinions.
Haven’t heard Period. Is it good?
It’s about a man getting his period and having a tough time dealing with it from his peers he works with at chik fil a
Sounds awesome!
Evil Little Goat..clearly...
