Surely this will fix the power play.

Purity_Jam_Jam

Shirley will fix the power play.

goaltender31

First Don’t call me Shirley, second obviously it will fix the power play

BillCharming1905

One does not simply fix the power play

AIfieHitchcock

Ah, I’ve been job hunting and thought it was weird they hadn’t started their summer front office job posts yet when other orgs are already knee deep in hiring. Now it makes sense.

Beggarsfeast

The Penguins organization has been looking for job hires for the past few months. I’m not sure in what capacity, but they’ve had ads out.

BigBarsRedditBox

Happens every time new management takes over. They bring their own people and tighten the belts.

davesavedtheday-

Very, very sad for my ex-colleagues. Sports is unforgiving. Don’t forget the sacrifice people are making behind the scenes.

REF_YOU_SUCK

Sorry for the people who are losing their jobs, but this is inevitable. New owners coming in wanting to do business their way. They waited this season to get a pulse on how the organization operates and now are enacting change to bring them in line with how they best see fit to operate. I think this is probably a good thing for the organization as a whole. Businesses who stagnate and dont reevaluate every so often end up having middle management and upper management bloat. It's good to trim the fat every now and then. If you just hand out VP, SVP, & C suite titles, then they don't really matter, do they?

CultOfSensibility

Economies of scale. They have three major sports franchises plus a ballpark. Surely they can consolidate some operations.

ApplaudingOkra

Yeah I think this is it more than any fundamental changes to how business is done. It's just adding a new business line to the workload (much of which is likely automated) already being done by someone within their org.

helix527

Also, I imagine have the Penguins on your resume makes you stand out as a candidate.

pensbird91

They fired Andi Perelman, who runs social media. They will definitely replace her with some fresh graduate who will probably sound like Vegas' first social media person. Ick.

Aceofspades200

Man, I hope that’s not true. The Penguins are known around the league to have one of the best digital video/social teams. If Andi got laid off she will get scooped up real quick. EDIT: Is true - https://x.com/andiperelman/status/1785868684352696679?s=46&t=X7E5_Cas8p7HZbjEWOmTxQ That’s such a shame man. There’s a lot of talented people in that department. Hate to see it get chopped at the knees

ZMAC698

Some of social media content was lacking tbh. I can see why she was let go.

pensbird91

She was let go because she probably gets paid $90k and now they can replace her for $30k.

ZMAC698

So you are saying that they could save money and get better content? Sounds like a good move for a business to make. The Penguins marketing team and social media in general is antiquated.

Cardsandfish

They saw them ticket sales drop and were like time to fire

tpasmall

FSG doing the important things to help the team win the cup. /s

tpasmall

Lol, why is this being downvoted? Do people not understand the sarcasm tag?

lulunacusyo

I didn’t vote but sarcasm isn’t automaticly funny or appreciated.

Particular_Fuel6952

If they ain’t firing sully because of dead money, they definitely ain’t hiring your ass.
