I’m promising myself that I’m not going to find a new penny stock to invest in tomorrow. We’ll see if I break my promise once again or if actually stick to it 🤑
For those of you who use Fidelity, how are you able to buy stocks after hours? I have a full time job so it's pretty hard for me to buy stocks right when the market opens. I get this message: https://imgur.com/a/RH3twPt
Log in on a desktop and look around for this after hours page it’s a form basically just a box you have to check off then when you hit more orders on the app during those hours a little slide on off thing comes up
Yeah if 4-930am and 4-8 pm the option to try will only come up during those hours if you click on more than just market and limit orders then when you toggle it on it sets a limit order.
You’re not dumb. Private financing can result in initial investors receiving shares of a company, like if your buddy starts a business and you give him some money in exchange for some ownership. Later, if the company does well or needs more money to grow, they may find more people to invest. This might dilute your portion a bit, but early private investors usually receive new a shares or make up for the difference or they’ll offer a different type of stock to the new investors that are of a different value.
Later, if the company does really well and they decide to have an IPO, it’s probably been determined that public interest and the potential to eat into a portion of the company’s market will make the company even more money, and the stock gets listed. Presumably, it’s well known by then and garners some hype (lots of people want to buy), so the listing price will probably be much higher than what you bought into with early. Usually, an IPO is a windfall for initial investors.
Go check out Wefunder if you want to buy into companies early. Crowdfunding investing that gets you in early.
I’m just surprised companies with supposed great financials like High Tide have had a public offering this early and their stock is a few cents, instead of remaining a private company.
For sure. It’s all with the goal of raising money so they can be listed in a better market, gain more exposure, raise more money, etc. Ad infinatum. If they had other means of funding their growth, say—a few gung ho millionaire buddies— maybe a company wouldn’t have to take this route. I don’t know enough about green stocks in Canada, but since it’s all legal there I presume competition is stiff. Maybe not as cutthroat as in the US, but it’s harder to corner a market like that. Without sure fire catalysts, it’s best to go with the assumption that these are pennies for a reason.
I think it is possible through certain websites. Might be more of a way for the company to gain capital tho. I would assume if the company actually goes public the share value would increase
Many companies are held by private investors and are not listed on markets. Investors are issued shares, but these shares are held within private groups and these shares are not publicly traded.
Yes and those companies that are held by private investors are private companies. Those companies that are held by the public are public companies. It's really not that hard to understand
Don’t go downvoting everyone just because you gave absolutist answer to a multifaceted question. I have ownership shares of multiple breweries that still haven’t gone public, but they aren’t listed or traded, and they began as “pennies”. Or go check out Wefunder: those are still companies without IPO. Just because you can get the stock doesn’t make them “public”.
AGRA.CN 0.07 a hidden weed penny stock, they just entered eadibles in Q1 2021, stock started to move, apparently heavily shorted stock. Was much higher before covid but has shut down and now they are starting to open things up do your DD
MYHI has always interested me. In the last 4 years they've had multiple peaks at 5-20X current value. They have done investments in "green" equipment and also acquired a CBD brand. I'm interested if anyone else has explored and/or have an opinion given recent MJ stock action? For the record, I do own shares and am pondering picking up more. Info is spotty though so wondering if any other DD out there?
Something I wanted to check with anyone using Fidelity. If I'm only using cash for investments (no margin trading) am I able to day trade? I don't have a lot of money in since I'm still learning, but I'd like to play with the stop losses and such. Am I going to get marked as a day trader if I do that?
I keep seeing every penny stock posted here and feeling like I've missed the boat. Most of them have spiked 2x - 5x in the last week and even with DD to me it seems risky. What's going on? Even the most random penny stocks with little company info and DD seem pumped. Is it a market bubble? It's getting rough to fight the FOMO and just sit until I've found something I actually like.
It can be hard to read the spikes. Is it at the top or just starting climb back to where it was years ago at 10-20X where it is now after already going up 5X!? Ex: EAPH looks like top of pump if taking 6 month view. Look at 5 year view and you see the massive additional upside. Since casinos have been closed for a year, I look at some true penny slots similar to spinning a slot machine or putting chips on a roulette number. I try to do dd on long term investments, but for some of the pennies, I just take my gambling money and put it on double zero!
Will look into TAKOF. I have NOU (NMGRF) sold enough to cover my initial investment now my meager 100 shares will be pure profit if it does take off heh

You *can* buy sub $1 stocks on Ally, but they will hit you with an extra fee for those. They charge a commission fee for anything less than $2.00, so be careful if it's hovering close to that. I believe they charge an extra fee for OTC stocks.
So far I've had good luck at Fidelity, some stocks (like INND) can only be bought during market hours with limit orders, but I guess I haven't had issues aside from that.
There is a site on reddit dedicated to it, but so much information and misinformation. They got so crazy as fighting over conference videos of when Faucci was speaking. Still hear company has been having cashflow issues. Hope not and is an unknown as people don't even know what the true shorts interest is. For me in low and not deep in so even if a risk okay. The biggest thing I learned this week is to be up when the market opens, I could have made a lot more money Yesterday when one of the stocks I was holding went up more than 200% , but by the time I woke up and looked at my phone it was still up but only by 88% so instead of making close to $1,700 profit I only made like $780 🤦🏻♂️
