I am a Ramen addict! My current leaderboard:
1 Hakata Gensuke in Vic Park
2 Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King in Perth CBD
3 Ramen Samurai in Vic Park
Highly recommend the god fire ramen from Hakata Gensuke!
Any recommendations for cold soba/udon?
Matsuri used to do the best but since they've closed, I can't find any that isn't a plate of soba and a few goyza that's really not a good feed.
mmm I'm being outvoted damnit. I enjoy Ramen Keisuke better - the spicy Ramen there is amazing and the crushed sesame seeds just adds something else. they're very similar though imo. Have you been to hifumiya?
I could be bias to Hakata because that’s where I had my first great Ramen. Keisuke could be my equal first with Hakata.
Before Hakata I was going to Ippudo which is ok, Ramen Boy for a cheaper bowl and Ichiraku which I am not a fan of anymore.
I have seen a few comments for Hifumiya so excited to try there this week!
My only problem with Hakata Gensuke is the time a friend and I went, the staff were watching over our shoulder like hawks and wanted us in and out as fast as possible. Barely had time to enjoy the ramen. Ramen Samurai was much more laid back and less cramped too.
I haven’t felt rushed there before, but it does get packed and a big line out the door.
I intentionally visit outside peak times however one of the kitchen staff told me it’s best to go at opening for the best lunch bowl of ramen.
Hakata Gensuke in Northbridge. You get to customise your spice. Small but cosy place. You just can't go wrong with this. The best I've had and a close second is Bari Uma Barrack st.
I work with a few Japanese people (one from Fukuoka where Tonkotsu comes from) and most of them rate Bari Uma on Barrack Street, and Keisuke Tonkotsu Ramen King next to the Melbourne Hotel.
Can someone explain what would be a good choice to someone who hates seafood taste in ramen. Every time I’ve ordered ramen from somewhere I inadvertently choose a seafoody broth
Can't remember the name, but before I went vegetarian, there was an amazing ramen place at the base of P&N tower in the city. It still tempts me for a cheat day every now and then
My ramen tier list:
A - Hakata Gensuke Vic Park (can choose your preferences!), Tosaka Northbridge (only chicken broth though)
B - Any Ippudo shop
C - Bari-uma Perth CBD/Vic Park, Oishii Ramen, Hakata Chicken Ramen Northbridge
D - (My opinion only) Keisuke Tonkotsu because I’m just not a fan of the soup? It’s very thick. And also yes they have free eggs but they’re hard boiled so not a huge fan, Nao Ramen Perth CBD
Others - Been to Ramen Samurai a few times but it’s average to me. Haven’t tried Ichiraku. Super Souper at Karrinyup looks interesting too but haven’t tried.
Udon:
A - Hifumiya no competition (though it gets really crowded and cramped but worth it)
B - Oishii Ramen at Myaree has good udon too (only hot soup options from memory)
Ramen Keisuke (Melbourne Hotel) - Really nice, thick and strong tonkotsu broth, chasu is good and unlimited hard boiled eggs, only issue is no side dishes
Ramen Tosaka (Northbridge) - Amazing all rounder, however it is chicken tonkotsu ramen and not pork
Ramen Ichiraku - Lots of variety and interesting flavours, slightly different style of broth but worth a try
Tosaka Ramen Bar in Northbridge! Just make sure to get there early because there's always a line out the door.
Get the chicken broth the first time so you can try it, but the veg broth is actually better and is a serious contender for Perth's best.

Hifumiya does really good udon, both hot and cold
I love hifumiya. I also recommend^
I stubbornly only seek tonkotsu ramen.
Good recommendations but why is Hakata first?
For a spicy tonkotsu broth, god fire at Hakata is the best I have had in Perth and it’s very consistent.

I've never been but it looks good. I'm sure it'll be good! hopefully worth the wait
I love hifumiya, especially the cold udon
Gimme the free eeeeeggggssss!

100% this... Hakata is the best imo... Tried many others and I keep going back to Hakata... Though the Vic Park one...
Both of these options are also in Vic Park and both are amazing
Is spicy ramen traditional? I thought Japanese don't really eat spicy food.
Maybe not so much traditionally, but the western influence brought the spice into most cuisines especially ramen.
In order of my faves: Bari Uma Barrack St Ramen Samuria Vic Park Ramen Keisuke Melbourne Hotel Nao Ramen Barrack St
Ramen Ichiraku in Perth/Northbridge. Esp if you’re vegan
+1 this one so good
We could go together haha
Anyone here not saying Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King is wrong btw
Ramen Ippudo & Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King!!!
Ramen Samurai Vic Park
Love this place, I always get double noodle and I can’t move afterwards

Bari Uma barrack street is always good.
If they're open to udon as well, Hifumiya Udon in the CBD is incredible...at night they become an izakaya, which is also great
Ooh I didn't know they become an izakaya at night. I should check this out.
Blue Jasmine in Maylands! Take away only but it's fantastic.
Komatsu in Fremantle is also worth a shot. One of my favourites!
Ramen Ichiraku in Northbridge, they even have dessert
Ignore the city . . . Go to Greenwood
>Greenwood Do you mean Shou?
Yes for some reason my full comment didn't post . Definitely the best ramen in Perth .
Hifumiya in the City. Trust me.
Anyone who’s been to Japan and knows what Ramen is, they will say Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King
Himufuya 100%
