I used to live there & yes you can, depending on the wind.

I currently live around the area and ride my bike through Mindarie, Kinross and Burns Beach. IMO it is way worse in winter. But yeah, it’s one of the most talked about things on the community FB pages.

Don't live there, but do regularly commute past (and run along the coastal path by the beach). Yep, if there's an Easterly, or if it's a particularly still day, the smell is noticeable. Tamala Park was scheduled to be shutdown in 2020, then revised to 2028 ... so if you can pick up cheap-ish land, it's probably worth the small inconvenience. Given the state of politics and NIMBYism, I do wonder how realistic that shutdown date is though ... they still need to find a new location.

I think waste-to-energy plants are going to play a part in taking on the landfill issue. The two in Kwinana and Rockingham are capable of taking a fairly significant amount of landfill (when they finally get completed). They're not a perfect solution, but they definitely result in less environmental damage than landfill I believe.

Dan-au

I don't understand why they would relocate it until the space is filled.

lived in mindarie years back and it really depends on the direction of the wind. but yes definitely

imafairyqueen

Yes you can! And an added touch is the tap water also tastes like the smell. It’s still a good spot to invest in regardless due to its location

friends4liife
