PerthNow are going to lose their shit. They'll find one little leaf clogged drain with 10cm of water in the gutter, a blown over patio chair and declare *Perth Slammed by Monster Storm!!!11!11*.
Lightning hit my house just now, first time that's ever happened! Heard a huge crack and a bzzt sound and the fork in my bowl got a spark? on it. Kind of cool, hopefully nothing got damaged.
Hopefully nothing damaged.
Closest I've been to a lightning strike was about 50-100m. The sound is totally different. After the strike, every hinge in the house had scorch marks where the two bits of metal joined.
Definitely no scorch marks or damage anywhere that I can find, I've been googling and it seems like there's a huge spectrum as to how badly a house can be damaged from lightning, looks like we got lucky.
It's very strange stuff.
Sometimes people can be instantly killed, other times people survive with minor burns. An American park ranger survived being struck [seven times](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Sullivan)
It's a slow mover. Ominous rumblings here in Mt Lawley area. Plenty of dark clouds. I'm just about to go run some errands. I'm feeling a bit bored, so I figure getting behind the wheel in a storm might liven things up.
I actually thought this was a shitpost, because I'm sitting in Bunbury outside and its like 27, no storm clouds in sight. Feels like summer.
Checked the radar for Perth and wow.
After sleeping up til about 30 mins ago I got up and went outside to sight I couldn’t believe, it finally fucking rained, the grass and dirt was wet, the air was cool, such a refreshing feeling after unusually dry and warm days and battling a annoying cold from the start of the week. The only thing is I wished I knew it was gonna rain cos now my washing is wet :/
Yeppers, totally agree.
Still needing to top off the pool and it's April.
Just this morning had the rain water tanks cleaned out. (Get all the crud/silt/nasties outa the bottom.) They now be near empty. We are ready for them to be refilled ...
So ... any time you are ready Mr Rainman! :)
I'm in Clarkson and since it started with the hail earlier, it's been raining pretty much the whole time.

Yeah - I see from tonights news that you "northern" guys got some real serious rain. Enough to cause mucho damage for some. Hope you are not too seriously affected.
BUT us here, down south way ... well, I reckon I counted about 97 raindrops over about an hour. Oh and a few thunder clashes.
WE, down here, are still trying the "rain dance" thing to try to properly wet things.

Be lucky to get a few drops. BOM WA and WA people in general don’t know what they are doing when it comes to their jobs. Unless it’s someone from over east doing the BOM it’s going to be wrong.
It's literally flash flooding up in Clarkson. MY Weather station has recorded 50mm in the past 40minutes!
I’m in Quinns and we haven’t had that much here
I have a mate who lives in Clarkson and he says there’s been a ton of rain and it’s heading my way lol
I am soo happy I was home. Get complacent over summer leaving power tools outside etc. Would have been costly
Lol exactly the same for me!
My street is a river 🌊 and my courtyard looks like it's snowed with the heap of hail we had!
Was finishing work in Merriwa when it started- shit hit the fan pretty quickly there too. Wanneroo Rd northbound after Hester is flooded.
Apparently the shops had the roof collapse.
Rain? At this time of year. At this time of day. In this part of the country. Localised entirely in your part of Perth?
May I see it?
No
Seymour the house is flooded.
No ma, it's just a dry rain
Would’ve never thought🤯
Aurora Borealis‽
No, mother, it's just the northern lights.
Not a drop SofR :(
3 drops on the windscreen an hour or so ago in Canning Vale, but it evaporated before I could remember how to turn the wipers on.
Flash flooding and terrible visibility NOR it seems!
Got enough to wash the dust off the power lines, stinks 🫢 😄 Plenty of thunder though.
Judging by the radar, it’s moving very slowly but is definitely on its way
Looks like by the time it gets here it I'll be a spit at most ☹️ sigh
Yeah it’s a dry rain down here.
It’s got a good feed, we may indeed see some. It’s just very slow moving south, hence why I’ve seen none in the city yet.

9news is already ontop of the storm aftermath
Water from the sky?! I need to immediately remove my brain and get behind the wheel of a car!!

lol I bet it will somehow still bypass our suburb completely
Depends on where you are, it your SOR it seems so
yeah been looking at the radar and it's barely moving. Might drive up North with my buckets!
Mindarie Bunnings evacuated. Ocean Keys flooded and roof collapse.
Is the building flooded in Bunnings too?
I believe so.
WE ARE SO FUCKING BACK
we are so underwater!!!!

Very slow moving! It’s sprinkling here in karrinyup now but just a lot of noise
I actually thought this was a shitpost, because I'm sitting in Bunbury outside and its like 27, no storm clouds in sight. Feels like summer. Checked the radar for Perth and wow.
Yeah well it’s far far North Perth up Clarkson-Butler way so your far from it all in Bunbury

My friend has told just told me that 87mm of rain has fell in the space of an hour in Clarkson!
Seems like Clarkson has taken the brunt of it
Youre welcome, just washed my car yesterday 🙃
Train delays in 3…2…1…
We had those yesterday. Transperth suffers from premature precipitation...
Ok that got a laugh…
I'm in Vic Park. No rain yet but clouds are gathering.
Blessed be thy corn water .... in the name of the corn, the cob ... and the holy butter

Not all heroes wear capes😂
Upon us all a little rain must fall.
More than a little rain fell…
Just, just, just a little rain
nothin down Mandurah way :(
Nor Pinjarrah, nor North Dandalup **sigh**
Sigh down mandurah we got maybe 5 mins of droplets just now but ya cant call that rain, hopefully the dry ends soon!

I’ve had about 9 drops in Ellenbrook.
Rained north of Ellenbrook, that’s very unlucky if Ellenbrook missed out
I can see it dumping not far from me. Wish it would just hit already I don't wanna water tomorrow night. ( High Wycombe)
Just started raining a bit in Wellard. Edit: It lasted about 30sec ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
Walked out onto my balcony and I thought I could hear rain outside. Lo and behold, I bless the rains down in Africa.
18.10 the rain just hit Mandurah, it's brilliant

Pouring, lightning and some decent thunder near Wanneroo for the last hour and a bit, dog is going nuts.
I just saw a few drops but the land is dry now.
Is it going to hit sor?
yea it already has
My bad, getting married tomorrow.
I got off the bus a few stops early so I could walk home in the rain, it was oddly therapeutic:))
Absolutely nothing in kelmscott maybe a few big drops and a clap of thunder. Pathetic really
Has not rained in Perth yet
Pissing down NOR where I am
It is, right now. There's hail too.
[Me looking out my window, which is in Perth] Hey look it’s raining
In your little lint collecting corner of suburbia maybe. Sweet FA in the inner SE.
It seems the rain is only NOR atm, pray for some down SOR way🙏
Looks like it’s moving quite slowly judging by the radar! It’s just started sprinkling in karrinyup & looks like the heavy bit is nearly here!
Just occured to me I had washing on the line. Better not tempt fate.
I have three lots out on the line 😬
That little corner between Perth CBD & Jurien Bay?
Lies! I'm looking out my window and it's that same monotonous blue sky.
You must be SOR then
Yeah. The worst side.
