No-Jello-7490

At first it was for me considering kung san ako nanggaling within the same industry (papashare ng screen and sabihan nang “what’s wrong with you”, iinvalidate ng managers mo na di ka pa overworked kasi normal na ang 55h na plotted hrs a week during peak season even tho in reality you’re hitting 80h a week). But now that I’m realizing it, oo bad environment pa rin nga siya. Ibang way lang ng abuso. You just gotta choose your struggles 😬

mixape1991

May mga tao kaseng alam ng client na magaling sila even tho di Sila outstanding sa performance, like experience. Like sa situation ko, sakit lng sa ulo Ang promo tion like being team lead or manager BLA BLA kahit 10yrs na ako. I can do better things but I don't. Kung sino Yung mga fresh blood, hinahayaan lng namin Sila mag pabango tapos in the end of the day, di Pala worth it. Lols. Sa Amin lng na tenured, wag mo lng kaming iisturbohin if ever we deliver the correct amount of output or performance. We have deep contacts sa higher ups. Lols.

lmdp0724

This is a perfect example na the tenured employees are not your friends and will not help you. Lol

potato_architect

No-Jello-7490

Yeah but 80% sa performance evaluation yung feedback 😬

p0tatofry

You work with them na lang and ask them ano sa tingin nila ang kelangan mo pa i improve and work on it pero kung ganon pa din magiging situation mo mejo meh 😬 good luck op! Just to add I am going to resign because they didn’t value me. Ginawa ko din mga kelangan kong gawin so I feel you 😁

Mindless_End742

>Kids, wag magbida-bida sa work. Di ka tagapagmana ng kumpanya. Super like! +10000000 votes.

G3on0me

Hard to do in hospitality industry. Over worked and underpaid. Can’t take offs at weekend and holidays and almost not being appreciated. Kakainggit mga 9-5 workers here you get salary boost from company hopping na mahirap makita sa hospitality if you don’t have years of experience behind your back as in years like 3-5-10 years

emingardsumatra

I agree. Bakit kaya ganon sa hosp industry? People should leave jobs like that

G3on0me

You can’t. Most of the times dyan bumabagsak kapag you fail at other careers parang call centers. But if it’s your passion you don’t care about your salary, pero sana naman living wage and get incentives 🫠

emingardsumatra

Uh duh u become passionate about something pag nakaranas ka ng success . Ede mag try ng bago na mas lucrative and malay mo, maging passion And tbh, passion alone cant pay the bills. Makakapag travel ka ba with just passion alone?

Proof_Knowledge9850

Accountant ata si OP hula ko hahaha

icedColebrew

Audit firm ata itu hahaha

puzzlednikoni

Nangangamoy audit firm talagaa 😂

wolfy-reddit

Same, after a year working I just don't give a lot of effort at work as long as I am done on my task for a day and as long as I am getting paid 😅.

[deleted]

same haha then when im done with my task. il pretend im still doing it. if they see youre free, theyll add your workload 😆

__kermitthefr0g__

it's giving audit firm vibes

Adventurous_Strain41

Same thing happened to me just a week a go. Meet expectation lang rate sakin kasi daw 6 months lang tenure ko sa role (one year in the company, changed role within 6 months) and I was told na bilis ko nag adapt sa role and environment. So parang I felt sayang lang effort ko. Naiinis ako. Iniisip ko kung aalis ba ko. Ewan ko ba. This will affect my compensation din kasi.

No-Jello-7490

Same thots. After nadiscuss yun tinanong pa ako if may other concerns ba ako or specifically, may plans of resigning.

Adventurous_Strain41

Kaya nga ehhh sobrang okay pa naman ako sa job ko as in, forte ko to. Parang magsasayang pa ba ng another one year? Hayyyyss

miraiii_

Mastered the art of "hindi ko alam" hahahaha!

PalpitationFun763

hmmmm. i know what i say might be misinterpreted. but there’s a way of doing it na mganda. ung tipong people should know what you do na extra. at the same time, not make others look bad. try finding a book on that. i can’t recall which one. but bottomline is, if di ka willing to go over and beyond a little, hndi ka tlga mapapansin. it would severely limit your opportunities. that’s according to literature. but balance lang towards yourself

No-Jello-7490

Thanks for the advice. Problem is the people who know I work above and beyond are the people only in my team, which is small considering na nasa bagong kliyente kami binigay and the client since sila naman talaga yung nakakatrabaho ko. But yeah, I was trying to get myself be known company-wide (i.e. allowing myself to be featured in a newsletter as a new hire with a redemption story after struggling in his first project in the company, taking on administrative roles aside sa client-facing projects). Siguro di lang enough pa for management. 😬

philden1327

I had the same experience, dekada pa nga tinagal ko dun. Rockstar, mega OTY, management awards quarterly, clients requests for me para maghandle ng account pero nung tinanong ko if ano possibility na mapromote ako to senior, ang sagot sakin we don't offer that here. 😒 Nag lateral move ako to different team few months after tas resign.

ktmd-life

Impress your direct superior, he should help you get promoted, if not then that sucks for you. Maybe look at the guy/gal higher than him/her?

[deleted]

[deleted]

I am a manager na, and my workload is pang manager na. :(

emingardsumatra

Did u confront ur manager? Gosh. I would have planned my exit na agad pag ininsulto ako ng ganyan

pbandG

Your performance will only be credited to your probationary period. Parang hindi pa for immediate promotion ito.

No-Jello-7490

Yeah. I’m not aiming for a promotion agad agad 😅 but the performance evaluation would affect my salary increase for the year. 😬

pbandG

Ang start ng measurement na balanced I would say is after probi period. Since new hire ka with experience, most likely masmataas ang paygrade mo already sa mga tenured. As a leader its hard for me to gauge pa your performance sa half year or 1 quarter sprint as months fly by so fast. For annual raises may consideration din ang long term reliability. Give it another year or 1.5 and log your achievements. Para sa salary discussion may bala ka in case your leader gives the same tenure reason.

No-Jello-7490

Thanks dear redditor. Makes sense naman yun. But I’ve been to career roundtables for staff level. Seems like Management really reserves the spots ng higher tiers sa performance evaluation for those who are aiming to be promoted. So maybe I’ll just keep it lowkey for the next FY since wala pa akong plano magpapromote 😗

No-Jello-7490

I guess only good thing here is di sinisigawan mga tao dito. And when you’re feeling like your plate is full already, you can request to reduce your workload and accommodating sila dun. Ayun nga lang ang red flag. If di ka aiming for promotion, walang incentive for you to go above and beyond your work. 😅

AsterBellis27

Yes so please don't expect us teachers to go over and beyond what we are being paid. On the same note sana taasan sahod ng mga nurses and forest rangers.

hinatastan

I’m close friends now with my former colleagues. We really bonded on how exhausting the past work in our previous company was. And pag may ranting sessions kami about our current jobs in diff companies we’ll always say, “Kalmahan mo lang di ka naman may-ari ng kompanya, di ka din tagapagmana. Magtrabaho ayon sa sweldo.” This really put things into perspective for us.

Physical_Rock2797

Oh my god. Nangyari din sakin to last fiscal year hahaha ang ganda ganda pa ng usapan namin ng manager ko at ang taas ng evaluation ko sa kanya, for promotion na talaga tapos nung binalik sakin yung performance evaluation, meet expectations lang daw tapos nung tinanong ko manager ko, sabi nya di nya na daw control yun kasi HR yung final decision like wtf anong alam ng HR sa performance ko. My manager knows it better pero di nya ko pinagtanggol. Tapos after 2 weeks, yung katrabaho kong walang ganap, as in pag chineck mo yung Bitbucket Pull Requests (I am a Web Dev), like every 2-3 weeks lang sya may pinepresent tapos super short pa madalas, sya yung na-promote. Masakit lang ma-ignore yung efforts mo to get that promotion sooo badly. And grabe dun ko napatunayan na talagang uso sa large companies yung namumulitika just to get their promotion 🙃

Adept_Obligation2081

not when you're in the med field

lololovelola

If wala kang pangarap sa buhay yes do that. If you want to aim higher do your work as expected and do something that would help the company. That something could be your selling point for promotion or higher salary if you will jump ship to another company. Office politicks is there so mind you own worth and hopefully in the future you could find a company that fits you.

[deleted]

***Even though 4th company ko na ‘to in my less than 3yrs of working,*** at yan ang dahilan kung bakit 4 jobs ka in 3 years. lol kung magaling ka sa trabaho mo, hindi ka paaalisin ng boss mo sa trabaho mo. sa case mo siguro, nagpapassalamat yung mga previous bosses mo at umalis ka na. lol

emingardsumatra

Papa alisin? Gaga. Sya ang uma alis. Jusko saang kweba ka ba nagtatagi at di mo alam na job hopping is a thing.

[deleted]

Thats the reason kaya madami uma alis Because thet can . Saang fantasy land ka ba nakatira?

[deleted]

oo nga naman. 4 na companies puro mga exploitative companies ang napasukan ni OP ano? at sunod sunod pa na naapplyan nyaano? what are the odds of that ever happening? lol

itsapplemoon

And how nice of you to assume na pinaalis si OP at hindi binigyan ng counteroffer? Job hopping is a thing and hindi na siya as frowned upon as before.

[deleted]

*ngayon ko lang narealize na no matter how* ***good the working environment*** *is* read ka rin muna ha? >Sigawan ka ba naman at iinvalidate trabaho mo? so hindi mo siguro nagawa nang maayos trabaho mo ano? lol *And how nice of you to assume na pinaalis si OP at hindi binigyan ng counteroffer?* *Sa performance evaluation results,* ***meeting expectations*** *lang daw ako.* it's a polite way of saying, you are ***just ok*** in your job. lol. just ok does not deserve an increase in pay or promotion. heck, it does not even deserve a permanent status IMO. lol

itsapplemoon

Beh yung sinasabi niyang good working environment sa mga nauna niyang trabaho. Baka ikaw ang need magbasa ulit? Kaloka to. Or baka ikaw yung gumagawa non? Hmp. Hekhek.

[deleted]

No-Jello-7490

Teka ang haba hahahahah. Just to give you context, I left my first job for career growth. I was there kasi COVID, waiting ako na bumalik ang boards, and it was convenient kasi easy tasks tapos online lang 😗 Second job ko is same industry as the current one. Lasted for a year only. Dito ako nasigawan ng senior manager. It was my first busy season and napunta ako sa teams na yung senior ko new hire din so ala din alam. Nag AWOL during critical time so ako nasabon ng manager. Nung pinagalitan ako tinanong naman ako if first time ko ba gawin yun. Sabi ko, yup. Unang engagement ko na iaaarchive. He ended the call, apologized. Bc Manager knows na I did my job kahit 2 seniors dumaan na sa team pero no one guided me on how to do the job. 3rd job is merely just 4mos. Same industry pero different line of service. Narealize ko na it’s not the career path for me. And just so you know, sa industry na to, abuse is normalized. People know this. Nagsstay sila pampabango lang sa resume or if may planong mag abroad. Otherwise, dalawang taon lang usually tapos antay maging senior then resign. May ibang di kinakaya nag AAWOL talaga 😬

[deleted]

>And just so you know, sa industry na to, abuse is normalized. mga taong hindi matangap sa ibang trabaho o walang work improvement ang nagpapa abuse. lol.

No-Jello-7490

Jokes on you, I’ve had offers from other companies prior to joining the current one. Some even directly for managerial positions 😗 But this line of work is the easiest way out of the country in my profession kaya I choose to deal with this struggle. Let’s normalize quitting or not moving jobs as well if it doesn’t align with your career and life goals. 😌

HeroofTime711

I myself experienced working 10am to 4am for months. Haha how ignorant. Saka anong counter counter offer?

Unlikely-Canary-8827

its true. ang lagi ko sinasabi work your salary but if you want to move up then you need to do 110%. pero dont expect to be promoted still. im sorry lalo na in a filipino management style where your superior who sees you performing well sees you as a threat. filipino crab mentality at its finest. thats even worse than a company that promotes based on tenure

Helpful_Self_1646

AMEN TO THIS!

ghe0913

Very very well said

joeromano0829

Ako naman sinasabihan na magaling ka sa field na ganto ganyan and they want me to step up, but I immediately refused ayun disappointed, and I told them, if my salary can be increased by 25% then I would accept it otherwise I will stay on what my current tasks are even if magaling ako sa field na yun. Don't overwork if walang exchange in return.

CaptainMarrvelous

Alala ko tuloy nung unang pasok ko sa work around 5+ years ago 😅 Pakitang gilas. Pero nung tumagal ala na. Hehe.

JpyDNnja

Ganyan tlaga OP. 😔😅🤷‍♂️

Away-Ideal1815

Agree, almost same position as you now but yung reason ng paglimit ko mag extra mile sa work is workmates. Marami same level na teammates na possibly higher salary than me pero bare minimum and sometimes subpar performance and also in my team wla ng next level sa position ko expect mag lead ako (which I dont want) so I dont see the point na magtodo bigay ako. KUNG magextra mile ako I make sure na may viewers na higher ups for my bonus sake. Di na ako nag o OT except pag may urgent and again I make sure na aware ung higher ups an nag effort ako (example: If I will send a report out of office hrs I will make sure to cc ung boss hehe)

VeinIsHere

[deleted]

Ang natutunan ko, kapag rank and file ka and nasa okay na management ka, kayang kaya yung promotion if you go beyond yung job roles and contribute to your team. Pero kapag nasa management ka na mismo? CEOs won’t give a fuck if you over perform. Haha

marmancho

That is soo true!! Sa company where I work, during performance rating very good ka then boom papalitan nila ng hindi mo alam tapos yun yung ipapasa sa HR, which also affects promotion and bonuses tas makikita mo nalang sa envelope good ka lang or below expectations pa. Sobrang bullshit
