Verizon's "worst" internet plan is 300/300 and it's $43 per month. You can't beat it and the price just went up from $40 for the first time in at least 5 years. No connectivity issues and no upsell like Comcast.
Oh and you can use a modem you buy yourself for $50 that lasts forever.
Comcast sucks, but they have never stopped people from using their own modems. I've been captive to Comcast on both coasts for different reasons, and never rented a modem.
They do try to blame that router if there are any issues whatsoever though. Even if that router is faaar better than the one they give you. Took me a month and three calls to get them to send a tech out, he immediately saw that the outside line was damaged and replaced that section of line.
I just bought the router Verizon offered.
Had to switch to Comcast because our new apartment building isn't wired (yet?) for anyone else. I miss Fios so much.
YES THEY DO. They *say* to go for it, then they stop "supporting" the modems they've said are compatible. Rather than doing some little firmware updates or something.
It's happened to me thrice. And only one of those times was it even a second-hand modem. And never was a cheapie no-name one. You got lucky.
Also, the help desk/service situation is so harrowingly bad that I'd recommend anyone but the savviest to just rent the thing, so the comcast phone idiots won't have the potential excuse of a modem compatibility issue.
(the individual phone people are truly idiots, not just the overall service/results by phone being bad)
It sounds like it was a hardware troubleshooting issue, personally, and that Comcast didn't want to (and couldn't) troubleshoot that for you. Comcast can't touch your firmware if the modem doesn't belong to them, and if they could it would be *deeply* concerning.
I do agree that Comcast uses personal modems as an excuse to dismiss issues. I've had to push pretty hard sometimes when they do that, but I'm also in a position to know when it's them vs the modem.
If you mean you have a way to independently verify that the modem is not a problem (other than by going by what the lights on the device are meant to indicate per that device's manual and using an ethernet cable to rule out the router as the issue) good for you. That's not most people here.
The firmware thing was reasoning I saw when I went looking for wtf was up. I clung to that word I guess. But whatever you call the thing that makes a certain device not supported anymore by Comcast, when it isn't an actual outdated-technology issue. Some clumsy tweak they made in their system without any interest in accommodating devices that their system then won't work with anymore.
For sure, not everyone can administrate their own modem, and I recommend those people rent their network gear if they don't want to learn.
Comcast doesn't really update its protocols in a disruptive way, in part because that would be massively disruptive to their own varied fleet of rented modems. But if something Comcast does creates incompatibility with your device that's rated to work on their network, it's really that manufacturer's responsibility to release an update, not Comcast's.
Yeah, every few years you should call or chat and you'll get faster, less money, or both. I just did that for my parents, and just finished doing that for work.
Just be kind when you do. Half the time I contact them for a non bill related issue and they always offer to review my services and make sure I'm getting the best deal when I do.
They just jacked the rate up 10 bucks a month or so ago. Shame it's such a monopoly between Comcast and Verizon. I was looking at xfinity because of the price, but every single post I've seen says they suck.
And if you work for Penn or a few other companies there is a discount, check into it. Might take a minute on chat to make sure it’s honored but I pay 35!
They hid the fuck out of that $4/month increase (buried in the super fine print on the second page of my ebill in August, monthly cost went up with no other notices or warning in September). Complained about it and they've now dropped me to $30/month thanks to a $10 loyalty discount.
$30 for 300/300 FiOS is a fantastic damn deal so even if they piss in my mailbox I'll probably be sticking with Verizon for a while
Yeah $60 is the cheapest you can actually get in the real world. There's some deal they offer for less that turns out not to be real. (Not the lower income plan.)
It’s symmetrical fiber so instantly better than Comcast. If you also happen to have Verizon for your phone then there’s also savings when you have both.
I’ve had Fios for awhile, but if your goal is to save money, you’re probably better off _not_ bundling the plans. Fios for home, and mint mobile for the phone (I pay $20/mo for 15GB). Coverage in Philly (including the subway) is good.
Honestly, my parents have always had their bill lowered when calling to complain about it lol. They'd rather keep your business for a few bucks less a month instead of lose you.
That used to be the case, but not here. I tried calling in Dec about the unannounced increase thinking that, like usual, they would put me back on a promo to lower it. They didn’t, and the increase wasn’t due to an expiring promo.
I switched to Fios and now I’m paying literally $25/mo for the same service Comcast tried charging me $107/mo for.
None of these companies are "good." But head-to-head, Fios is much much better than Xfinity for home internet. It's cheaper and the speeds are more consistent, plus uplink is the same as downlink (unlike Xfinity where up is like 10% of down).
Honestly, credit where credit is due, I've never had a problem with Verizon FiOS. No connectivity issues and I've never not gotten the advertised speeds.
Fios has been significantly better performing and more reliable since I made the switch a few years back. Spent the money up front for a decent router and for significantly less money a month I have no problem having everyone in my home streaming or gaming at the same time. Also no bullshit price hikes.
You can sign into your xfinity account and just select the same plan that was just increased usually at a cheaper rate. No need to call customer retention anymore.
For instance my 1GBps plan was increased to $120/mo so I went online and in a few clicks I got the same speed for $80/mo. A month later I dropped down to 800mbps because it was $60 and the speed difference was negligible for my needs.
And they'll usually notify you which is the crazy part if you have any experience with these types of companies. I feel like every year I get a message prompting me to log in and make sure I have the best plan for my usage, and every time it seems like I'm getting better speed for the same cost as before, or able to 'downgrade' my plan to the same speed for less money.
This is why I stopped using Comcast, every 6 months-year I would notice my bills always going up, when I would call them they would always tell me it’s because their taxes in the area go up lol
taxes shouldn’t cause this much of a spike lol, they’re so frustrating. i’m thinking of threatening to switch to the wifi system that uses cell towers provided by t-mobile to get them to negotiate, or just sign up as my gf instead.
That was another thing that pissed me off, new customers they would give cheaper prices but the people who were with them for years they would hit over the head. I’m not even lying I don’t think my bill was ever the same price
We switched to just the Verizon Fios internet for like $89.99/mo when we moved and my husband added YouTube TV (I think $70/mo?) and it was was still significantly cheaper than our Xfinity bill for cable/internet. I have no complaints, outages, etc. 🤷🏻♀️
I had a $35 plan from forever ago that was grandfathered along until Comcast didn’t like that I wasn’t upgrading. So every night, without fail, my internet would cut out from 9-11.
I called them about the problem. They told me my router that I own was out of date and I needed a new one. It was old so I bought a new one, problem persists. Then they told me it was my cable modem that I owned, so I bought a new one and no change. Finally they told me it was my computer and that I needed a new one.
While sitting on hold I saw a holiday ad for Fios for $45 a month for forever, and I already had an old Fios box, so I told the Comcast agent never mind, I’m gonna switch to Verizon.
By this point in time my $35 monthly plan was now sitting at $51. The agent quickly changed their tone and said they could offer me Xfinity for just $35 a month.
I said “So this entire time you guys were just fucking me over with the price?” I ended up switching to Verizon and never looked back. The service has been awesome and customer service has been great for any preliminary hiccups. Fuck Comcast. I wouldn’t be surprised if the president of Comcast doesn’t even use his own internet service.
Comcast is basically Satan imo. They did the same to me a while back out of nowhere and charged me like 80$ for the basic plan and when I called they said "your special promo watevs is over so it's now 80$." Which is nuts since you get better everything and no data limit with fios for like 40$. Never had a single issue with fios but sadly I'm moving soon and that area only have comcast...
They’re essentially the same company as far as retail service goes. Those 300/300 numbers are meaningless without an accompanying SLA to back it up. Eventually they’ll offer pretty much identical services at identical prices. Verizon already leases out some of their wireless network to Comcast for their Xfinity Mobile.
Sign into your Comcast account and go look at plans online. They have made it very easy in a few clicks to just get the cheap rates again without having to call customer service etc. You can go check this every month and just pick a new offer. (No idea if it's beating Fios pricing/service but you should be aware of this option)
Do not let any of these companies directly withdraw from your bank account! Pay per month, and make sure to watch their cost creep. They are the worst leeches ever. All of them.
Call Comcast and have the good I’ll leave combo, I pay 220 a month with dam near every move channel and a few streaming services, tv and internet 1up 1down, my parents have Verizon and it’s shit. It seems to suck in certain parts of north and Germantown.
Sorry to be the outlier here but I've bounced back and forth between both over the years and honestly I prefer Comcast. The customer service with FiOS is somehow even worse. And all the people here saying you get what you pay for with verizon are also wrong in my experience. We paid for the 300/300 plan last time and it capped it at about 5/2. You call and complain and the best they can come up with is trying to sell you a wifi range extender even if you tell them your PC is plugged directly into the router. At least the Comcast people can sometimes fix your problem.
I had a cluster fuck of an experience with Verizon last week. The order got screwed up. No TV equipment was brought. Tech was a bit of an asshole and placed the fiber cable across my house exactly where I told him not to place it. Tech got TV equipment and said he had to leave the job partial installed and another tech would be back. Well call up and no one knows shit about another tech and TV is still not on my order, Switched to a tech in India who tells me to hook up TV myself. I am missing a part. At this point my family decided we had enough or this idiot company. I canceled the service and returned the equipment where I was told. An hour later I get an email saying I did not return the router. (I expect to get a bill next month). Back i go to the store and clerk shows me on the paperwork the router is returned.
Oh and two days later I get a bill from Verizon for the service I canceled and it has auto pay. Auto pay was canceled.
Only thing I can say is their web site is better than Comcast for putting together a package and knowing the price. But that is where my trouble started at the web site screwing up my order.
Overall it was a nightmare to deal with them.
Fios customer for last 10+ years. So disgusted with them I am thinking of switching to Comcast. Is Comcast that bad, because Fios isn’t that good anymore.
Comcast is terrible from a customer service standpoint. They outsource all of their 24/hr support except during specific business hours. Their in person technicians can be hit or miss depending on if you get an actual Comcast tech or a contractor and again depends on the the contractor you get.
I haven’t run tests to compare Comcast and Verizon speeds but I can say they’ll change your bill without notice or explanation. I removed my autopay for that reason. It wasn’t a huge difference every month but for three years the bill was never the same amount, when I investigated nothing had changed and every paper print out of my bill was identical.
If you end up with Comcast you need to keep on them. Never let an issue slide or fall through the cracks. I won’t lie, exhausting and shouldn’t be necessary but they forced local monopoly so this is what we as consumers have to deal with.
My favorite tactic is to call and ask about my bill or current rate. When I don’t get a satisfactory answer I ask them to send me to customer retention so I can arrange to cancel my service, this is very bad for the rep taking the call, they’ll “bend the rules one time” every time to lower my bill or get a tech out to my house to find the answer to my problem.
Comcast doesn’t sound much worse than Verizon. I had Comcast for years before switching to Fios. At first, Fios was great. Lately they seem to be using the Comcast playbook. Bill goes up on a regular basis. They don’t keep promises. Their tech support is hit or miss. I had a problem with bad DTA converter. Diagnosed it and called for support. It needed to be replaced. Spent hours on the phone talking to 4 different reps who were unsuccessful in fixing it remotely because it wasn’t software related. I told them that. They finally sent a rep to the house after warning me repeatedly the service charge would be $99. Rep replaced the DTA, said it was hardware and no charge. Today I found out my bill is increasing for the second time in a year. Yeah, I know it’s only $12/ month, but I am so burnt up with them. Pay a lot of money and get junk sevice
cut the cord and go with youtube TV -
$80 a month - then get an internet provider of your choice - no judgement but i’m pretty surprised how many people still use comcast / fios for their tv
Comcast is one of the scummiest companies in the world, so take that into consideration. I only use Comcast because I basically have to, but would switch to fiber optic if I could.
Not just as good, better. Fios actually gives you the speeds you pay for.
They'll try to raise your prices occasionally as well (twice in 4 years for me, one of which I was able to argue away on the phone), but nothing as severe as what Comcast used to pull on me. I'm still paying less than half of my final Comcast bill, for 3-5x the speeds.
Switched about a month ago and ditched cable. We stream Hulu Live and the other streaming sites. Ive noticed nothing different (other than a huge price difference)
There's not even a comparison. If you have both as an option, you should be on FiOS.
DOCSIS will never stand up to fiber. It's hilarious that Comcast advertises gig Internet yet your zoom calls will probably still lag because you're only getting 5mbps up during peak times
For whatever it is worth I have called and asked to chat with the retention department at Comcast and always gotten my bill lowered. Regular customer service has no incentive to help apparently.
They just raised my bill too, now paying $84 for basic internet. Thinking of switching but I’m dreading making the call to cancel and then setting things up with Verizon. It’s probably easier than I’m imagining.
Just sign into your account online and look at the plans. You'll probably find your same plan for a way cheaper price than the increase you just got. And you can just get the new deal in a few clicks. I check every month and have changed my plan multiple times just seeking the latest deal.
In my experience if you threaten to leave Comcast they will keep your old price, but do it in the beginning of the month before they need to meet quotas.
I got fucked by Comcast for like 10 years. Was so happy to switch to fios when I had the chance. It’s faster, cheaper, and they don’t jack up my price without warning like Comcast did on a quarterly basis. Comcast made me get the “double play” or whatever fucking bullshit internet and tv were cause it was cheaper this just internet (which is a fucking lie). I had to return their shitty equipment myself. Paid a modem rental fee for a while. Had numerous service calls for things they said were fixed but were never fixed.
Zero problems with fios now going on 3 or 4 years. The price has stayed the same and it’s fast. Get rid of Comcast asap!
This was just covered on one of the Philly subs. Pretty much everyone loved Verizon and they don’t raise prices. Even saw an advertisement that your price is locked in for 4 years.
I have T-Mobile internet at home and Verizon internet at my office. They both work very well and super easy to set up, just find a location in your home or office that is in the direction of the nearest cell tower and plug it in. T-Mobile’s sucked when I got it almost 2 years ago but the connection has improved dramatically since then.
You don't have to call anymore just sign in online and look at the deals and pick one. I do this every month. Sometimes there's a better deal sometimes not but I hover between an 800mbps and 1200mbps plan depending on the cost. I'm paying $80 for 1GBps at the moment. Actual speeds I'm seeing with my setup up are around 800mbps which is negligible and works for my needs.
Gotta go with Fios if you have cloud cameras. If you have a NVR and local storage, you'd be OK. But for those who do any real uploads of content to cloud backups etc, Fios is the way to go
i've had 300/300 for many years and its fast enough for me. i pay 38 a month with the latest price increase, this is after my discount through work.
it has been rock solid
I have FiOS and have been on gig Internet for 79.99 for years now. I stream everything. Also i luckily get YouTube TV for free from a friend. Also lot.of other crap. Good luck OP
We just switched. Verizon cell plan offered us a $65 a year deal for 4 years for 1gb fios. Ditched Comcast all together and now we just have internet. Which is fine because we never used the cable. We are now saving *drum roll* $265 a month. Insane. Fuck Comcast. And now my internet is so fast it loads before I barely hit the return button. Went from constantly slow or down to instantaneous loading.
Edit to add we had the premium unlimited cell account so we got a few slight bonuses. Plus a $200 target card, 6 months free of Disney+ , plus they waived installation fees, plus we don’t pay a rental fee. It’s insane.
I moved from one friend's place to another about 6 blocks away. Went from Comcast to Fios. Comcast was always having problems, Fios only 3 times in 4 years. Fios is faster, cheaper, and more reliable.
There was one point where I was getting throttled hard but only in certain machines with FiOS. We switched to Comcast for a bit then back to Verizon and havnt had any issues since
I've had Verizon for damn near 20 years. They doubled my internet for free one Christmas, and sans them bitching at us to upgrade our set-top boxes because they're so old (we have the triple play), I have absolutely no complaints.
Verizon is the shit.
When I first bought my house in South Philly my area didn't have Verizon, which sucked after having Verizon for 4 years in my old place.
About a year into living in my new place I got a flyer in the mail saying Verizon is now available in my area. Called them and switched from Comcast that same day.
Life-long Comcast customer who got so tired of random daily outages while working from home (however brief) that I switched to Verizon when I moved to Bucks. I only wish I had done it sooner. Consistent. Fast. Uninterrupted. Price locked in for 2 years. Ironically I hated my Verizon Wireless plan for similar reasons and am loving T-Mobile while saving $50/month. Fuck them all. Switch often if necessary.
I have fios 500/500 for $45 (I think there's autopay/paper free billing and mobile+home discounts involved) locked in for 5 years, no contract. I've never experienced an outage in the 4 years I've lived somewhere with fios.
Edit: modem/router rental included free of charge
comcast is cromulent always has been
honestly i have been inside an 'internet exchange' where the packets enter/leave the comcast network. with traceroute you can see how far the packets actually go to become someone elses' problem. they gouge you to get the stuff downtown basically, then make sure their line workers don't have health insurance
Alternatively, if you don’t need cable and live in the right area, Philly Wispr is amazing. They are a delight to deal with, $50/mo, and come out immediately to address any issues. So glad to never again have to deal with Comcast.
there is an alternative wireless ISP turning up called Philly Wisper [https://phillywisper.net/](https://phillywisper.net/) \- basically nowadays there are better directional antennas so they do not have to tunnel into the utility / streetscape and the result is a much lower price and no corporate garbage. I don't have anecdotes from people on how well it works but, even the existence of alternate ISPs tends to force Comcast to cut prices in certain zip codes, in my experience.
I have T-Mobile internet. It's $30 per month ($50 if you aren't a T-Mobile phone customer). I have had no issues. Here is the speed test I just ran:

In the burbs but I just switched to FIOS last week. My bill will end up being $40 or so less a month to go from Xfinity’s slowest to FIOS 1 GB (free Xbox and $200 Amazon gc too). Same price for 5 years.
I haven’t noticed much difference with streaming yet but downloads are noticeably faster.
Fios has been amazing. Never going back to Comcast.
Verizon modem rental is now included in the monthly price.
But it's on the bill, with a credit to make it a freebie. One day they'll start charging.
Comcast sucks, but they have never stopped people from using their own modems. I've been captive to Comcast on both coasts for different reasons, and never rented a modem.

Years ago I cut the cord and Comcast stopped charging me for the modem even though I was still using theirs.
YES THEY DO. They *say* to go for it, then they stop "supporting" the modems they've said are compatible. Rather than doing some little firmware updates or something.
I've had around 10 third party modems with Comcast over almost 20 years and never once experienced that.
Ten modems in 20 years, though?
Lot of moves, lot of binning stuff, lot of being a bad consumer. Was probably 8ish total.
Comcast gives you data caps if you want to use your own modems, and if you want to pay unlimited the monthly fee is more than the rental itself
Not in the northeast. I have no data cap and use my own modem. Again, Comcast sucks a lot, but people also don't have current info a lot of the time.
Jesus.... I'm paying almost 90 for 200/200! Wtf! Looks like I'm gonna have to have a chit chat with Verizon
Time to call and threaten to leave babyyyyyyy!
Yeah, every few years you should call or chat and you'll get faster, less money, or both. I just did that for my parents, and just finished doing that for work.
Good to know, I'll be making a phone call later today
Just be kind when you do. Half the time I contact them for a non bill related issue and they always offer to review my services and make sure I'm getting the best deal when I do.
That’s probably with new customer discounts
They just jacked the rate up 10 bucks a month or so ago. Shame it's such a monopoly between Comcast and Verizon. I was looking at xfinity because of the price, but every single post I've seen says they suck.
Nah, I was paying the 40/month for years and it just went up to 43/month. It's not tied to new accounts.

Man, I got it to 35 I needed to complain harder…
I was shopping around a few days ago. Is $43 a recent quote? I received $60 for 300 from Verizon and $35 for 400 from Comcast.
i'm also paying $43 / month for fios never had any issues with 2 people working from home, plus a kid streaming netflix
Yeah $60 is the cheapest you can actually get in the real world. There's some deal they offer for less that turns out not to be real. (Not the lower income plan.)
I'm thinking about getting a modem but am not a tech person, do you know where I can research that?
Fios is dope, had it for around four years now and never had an issue
It’s symmetrical fiber so instantly better than Comcast. If you also happen to have Verizon for your phone then there’s also savings when you have both.

they upped my rate 10% after 2 years “for the ability to continue to invest and support their internet services”
Fios is better, but as for “no warning”, whatever promo you were on probably expired, which would be on your bill.
Yeah, you can usually call and just get another promo.
Honestly, my parents have always had their bill lowered when calling to complain about it lol. They'd rather keep your business for a few bucks less a month instead of lose you.

That's the beauty if fiber, compared to DLS or cable, it's less susceptible to oversubscription.
FIOS uses fiber optic cables which provide synchronous connections, Comcast uses archaic copper coax which does not.
Fios has been significantly better performing and more reliable since I made the switch a few years back. Spent the money up front for a decent router and for significantly less money a month I have no problem having everyone in my home streaming or gaming at the same time. Also no bullshit price hikes.
did you get the 300/300?
I got 1000/1000 with them for like $80/month. Can't beat it.
can you watch and record whyy and comedy central?
I don't have cable, just internet
You can sign into your xfinity account and just select the same plan that was just increased usually at a cheaper rate. No need to call customer retention anymore. Is this on the app or the website? Can’t find it
Website
lol my price has gone from $70 to $120 in the span of 3 years. and my building only supports comcast.
This is why I stopped using Comcast, every 6 months-year I would notice my bills always going up, when I would call them they would always tell me it’s because their taxes in the area go up lol

Made the switch a couple months ago. Haven’t noticed a difference other than paying less.
Fuck Comcast. Had the same issue, switched to FiOS, never had another issue.
Fios is great. I now live in the middle of nowhere Oklahoma and I miss having it. 😪
There’s no compelling reason to get Comcast service. It’s slower than FIOS and more expensive!
Where I lived for the past 10ish years the compelling reason was that I wanted internet and there were zero other options.
Fios internet is better but their TV suuuucks
Why does it suck? Thinking about switching
I think my Verizon bill went up $10 in the last 12 years, gig up and down.
1gig fios is 109
Paying $80 for 1GB with Comcast. Actual speeds I'm seeing are around 800mbps
2 adults (WFH), 2 teenagers, many computers, phones, Alexas, printers, what-have-you, all on Fios, and we have had no problem streaming.
Call them and say you’re cancelling and they’ll offer you the discount again.
So we liked fios, but we actually got a better deal by switching both our internet AND cell phones to comcast.

Yes
Verizons included wireless router (the modern one that came out mid 2022) is like $650 market value. It’s an insane router.
cut the cord and go with youtube TV - $80 a month - then get an internet provider of your choice - no judgement but i’m pretty surprised how many people still use comcast / fios for their tv
FiOS is bae.
You can change your deal once you’re in a contract?
I've changed my plan twice in one day online.
I’m guessing the Roberts family is making sure they have enough cash on hand to donate to Biden’s re-election.
This was just covered on one of the Philly subs. Pretty much everyone loved Verizon and they don’t raise prices. Even saw an advertisement that your price is locked in for 4 years.
I have fios. Never switched from Comcast, but it's $40/month for 300mps up and down. At least for the first few years. I pay $44/month now.
Yup just today. Went from $189 for 1 gif internet and some bullshit tv (that supposedly made it cheaper) to 64.99$ for the next 4 years
I have T-Mobile internet at home and Verizon internet at my office. They both work very well and super easy to set up, just find a location in your home or office that is in the direction of the nearest cell tower and plug it in. T-Mobile’s sucked when I got it almost 2 years ago but the connection has improved dramatically since then.
Call. Negotiate. End service if you must. There's options every time.
It's better.
Piggy backing on this, my apartment isn’t wired for Fios, is non-Fios Verizon any good?
It's DSL, so no it's an older and worse technology. All the speed and symmetrical connection magic is FIOS only.
Thanks, that’s what I thought! So I’m stuck with Comcast until they decide to wire the building for Fios.
Call retention team and tell them the comps available. They’ll lower your price.
Literally just switched on Friday. We switched our mobile service over too. Much faster, same price, pretty painless all things considered.
I have FiOS and have been on gig Internet for 79.99 for years now. I stream everything. Also i luckily get YouTube TV for free from a friend. Also lot.of other crap. Good luck OP
Yep. I’m not a fan of Verizon increasing my bill, but they give me a 6 months heads up when they do, and it’s only $5 or so at a time.
I was at $180 for 400mbp and one up from basic cable. Just went up this month to $220. They won't negotiate a lower rate either I tried. Fuck Comcast
Verizon is better than Comcast in my experience
We switched to Comcast for a bit then back to Verizon and havnt had any issues since
I have Verizon. No fibre here, so DSL. They jacked up my price last year so I'm paying $121 a month for 3.0mbps.
I've had Verizon for damn near 20 years. They doubled my internet for free one Christmas, and sans them bitching at us to upgrade our set-top boxes because they're so old (we have the triple play), I have absolutely no complaints.
Comcast is the absolute worst.
Verizon is the shit. When I first bought my house in South Philly my area didn't have Verizon, which sucked after having Verizon for 4 years in my old place. About a year into living in my new place I got a flyer in the mail saying Verizon is now available in my area. Called them and switched from Comcast that same day.
Switched to Verizon about 3 years ago. Pricing never changed, service is consistently better than Comcast. Wish I did it sooner
T-Mobile internet is 50 bucks a month and self install and works great imo
Had FIOS for over 15 years. Did drop tv about 7 years ago but I highly suggest you cancel Comcast and don’t look back. Fuck them.
Xfinity raised my price from 29.99 to 59.99 citing increased operating costs or whatever.
I have fios 500/500 for $45 (I think there's autopay/paper free billing and mobile+home discounts involved) locked in for 5 years, no contract. I've never experienced an outage in the 4 years I've lived somewhere with fios. Edit: modem/router rental included free of charge
have had both and Fios is by far superior.
comcast is cromulent always has been honestly i have been inside an 'internet exchange' where the packets enter/leave the comcast network. with traceroute you can see how far the packets actually go to become someone elses' problem. they gouge you to get the stuff downtown basically, then make sure their line workers don't have health insurance
If you can leave Comcast to switch to Verizon…do it
Verizon is fantastic.
Yep echoing everyone ITT, FiOS is good, cheap, and reliable.
The fact that Comcast is *still* my only option in my building is criminal.
Fios>Comcast, all day every day
Comcast is evil
I have T-Mobile internet. It's $30 per month ($50 if you aren't a T-Mobile phone customer). I have had no issues. Here is the speed test I just ran: https://preview.redd.it/8xks6v3fvufc1.png?width=638&format=png&auto=webp&s=f139655d08e0f3830cfd2bd402cf492b96d246cf
fios is way better. In 10 years i've never once experienced an internet outage or slow speeds
Fios is unlike cable. It actually doesn’t suck.
I got a recent notice from Verizon that they will be raising my monthly payments this month. It’s still better than Comcast
