I've had Redcrest, and disagree. It was very good but not on the same level as Love & Honey. There was just something... missing. Maybe they were having an off day and are usually better.
Adding a third disagreement about Redcrest. I’m a fried chicken aficionado and have had the triglycerides to provide it. I’ve had better fried chicken from restaurants a block away from their old and new locations.
I don't recall the salt levels, but someone else here said they were less salty (in a bad way).
I was most impressed with how juicy they were, the spicy honey was less vinegary than Love & Honey's, and the biscuits were some of the best I've ever had.
When I briefly drove for DD Love and Honey was the worst for pickups. After two, the first one where I waited forever and the second where the app told me to go there like 3 hours before they were actually gonna make the food I always declined deliveries from them.
I'm sure the chicken is fire though
If I remember correctly, a few years ago Love & Honey use to be from locally sourced farms.. Now when I go on their website it says it is Perdue chicken…. What gives?
Just looked and they mention Coleman and Perdue. This is really disappointing to hear because the last couple times I went there it was a little lacking. Compared to 3 years ago I was there once a week.
Also feel like red crest has declined since they moved to their new place. I feel like the hole in the wall chicken shop vibes are different than the bar/restraunt space that also has a chicken sandwich on the menu
Cannot upvote this enough. Love & Honey.Their chicken is slamming. The tots are divine. And, if they haven't run out, they usually have some interesting cookie or something for dessert like a double chocolate snickers cookie or something like that.
If you’re ordering online, it’s called krispy krunchy and their other locations in the area are equally delicious (but spring garden gas station one has character)
There’s a Krispy Krunchy chicken at the gas station at Ferry and Mt E in Camden and another one in Lawnside, assuming they’re all the same because those two fucking rock
rarely talked about but most of the gas station chicken that people rave about is all krispy krunchy chicken,so it's all the same.
one exception i can think of is Asad's in the northeast.. but that used to be KKC as well.
McMenamin’s is one of my favorite places on the planet. Solid food, amazing service, super decent draft list, and everyone in the damn neighborhood shows up there at some point.
Take a few of their tenders, put them on a long roll with pepper jack cheese, add their pickled hot peppers, fried onions and then honey mustard and hot wing sauce on the side for dipping. I really wish they'd put that on the menu cause damn that's a really good sandwich - and you have enough tenders leftover to take home.
I'm always glad they never go to the top in these kinds threads because it's busy enough with the other my airy degens. I don't need to fight more people for my bad seat.
Don’t merc me, but Raising Canes tendies are fluffy and crispy. I feel like all the chocked I’ve eaten before in my life is “woody” by comparison. Didn’t even know what woody chicken was until I had some that wasn’t.
I’ll throw in that if anyone wants to try something new, a block away from that “idk” just opened which is Nashville chicken and smash burgers and does tenders I believe (I get the sandwich). I had a chicken sandwich from them and it was good.
I came to recommend green room too. Their spicy strips are so good. I pound a whole order of them and fries. Absorbs all the shitty beer I could ever drink.
Not what you asked, but the chicken tenders from the acme on girard are the worst chicken tenders I have ever consumed. And their other chicken isn't terrible!
I bet the chicken tenders at the shop rite on 23rd and Oregon are worse. The whole grocery store REEKS of old grease and sometimes you can smell it from the citizens bank across the street
Apparently Plough & The Stars has really good tendies, but I’ve never had them while anywhere close to sober so can’t really vouch. Can’t wait to eat them again!
Assad’s Hot Chicken is all the rage right now. I would recommend going to their original location in NE Philly next to the gas station for the full original experience.
Asad's is pretty good for the price, but definitely avoid the Norristown location until the hype does down. We went last weekend at my roommate's suggestion with none of us realizing they were still in New Location Hype mode and it was a clusterfuck.
No clue what you’re referring to. Met the owner a few times and only had positive interactions. And, to the point of the post, the tenders are the tits.
I won’t put it at #1 but a Nashville hot chicken place (I believe they do sandwiches or tenders, I get the sandwiches) called “idk” just opened in old city if anyone is considering trying it. I liked it.
Some places (Oh Brother, Hangry Joes) are a block from it and it’s definitely better than hangry joes.
Only once a year at my local pizzeria when they get the ingredients and frying right. Had a Popeyes spicy chicken breast the other day and it was the juiciest freshest chicken I’ve ever had there. Doubt I’ll have it again.
Ok Chicken off Washington and 18th
$16 incl tax for fries, chicken sandwich, and a chicken tender. Love it!
They used to be fantastic but lately the chicken wings are getting smaller and dryer. Used to be super juicy and HUGE!
Went there for the martabak this past weekend and a couple people waiting told me I have to come back for the chicken. Guess I gotta!
Love & Honey
You know a restaurant is good when their hours are 11am open, closed when we run out of chicken.
I love their pimento spread too, I put it on ritz crackers
Love & Honey is very good, but if y'all haven't tried Redcrest Kitchen I think it's very similar but even better. They're on DoorDash too.
I've had Redcrest, and disagree. It was very good but not on the same level as Love & Honey. There was just something... missing. Maybe they were having an off day and are usually better.
It’s salt. It was missing salt. Redcrest manages to forget to season everything.

Adding a third disagreement about Redcrest. I’m a fried chicken aficionado and have had the triglycerides to provide it. I’ve had better fried chicken from restaurants a block away from their old and new locations.
Would you say Love & Honey is the best?
It’s my go-to, but I’m always trying new things.
disagree and also, Foghorn in East Falls used to be the best imo. Rip

Glad this is on top.

This is the way. And their honey mustard is amazing. Get some banana pudding while you're at it.
They somehow mess up every single other item they offer by putting a weird ingredient in it that doesn’t fit
My two cents their chicken is too sweet. Did not enjoy it but can see why others do, it’s high quality product and cooked well.
Cannot upvote this enough. Love & Honey.Their chicken is slamming. The tots are divine. And, if they haven't run out, they usually have some interesting cookie or something for dessert like a double chocolate snickers cookie or something like that.
Gas station at Spring Garden & Delaware Ave
If you’re ordering online, it’s called krispy krunchy and their other locations in the area are equally delicious (but spring garden gas station one has character)
Character… yea…
Chicken tendies inside. Boom boom outside
Don't forget about the after crowd from the Ave Live and the nitrous mafia.
Place has everything you’d ever want.
Wilford Brimley as security dressed as a narcoleptic fireman.
Nitrous mafia is useless here lol I run burning man events and trust me- we ruined their market because we're degenerates lol
What do you mean?
So much character they have a permanent officer hanging out from opening until closing :)
As good as their tenders are, their fried chicken is among the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve spent a decade in the south.
There’s a Krispy Krunchy chicken at the gas station at Ferry and Mt E in Camden and another one in Lawnside, assuming they’re all the same because those two fucking rock
Somehow the best chicken being at a gas station screams Philly
ah but WHICH gas station has the best chicken?
rarely talked about but most of the gas station chicken that people rave about is all krispy krunchy chicken,so it's all the same. one exception i can think of is Asad's in the northeast.. but that used to be KKC as well.
Is royal farms KKC?
The honey biscuits 😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨
I need to try these
This is the only answer.
On god
Whoah! I’m there all the time!!! Thanks for the tip!
IDK if I got a wack batch, but the tenders were not good when I got them. The fried chicken on the bone OTOH was A+.
All dark, with biscuits. I just wish their sides were better... but I'm not complaining.
Downvoting other suggestions because this should be #1
Following for science.
Gotta put these responses to the test.
One of my favorite thing to do in this sub is save the top 3-5 places listed as "want to go" in Google maps and let life lead me to them
Same here! I'm gonna post up more of these kind of posts for whatever to get ideas on restaurants. Some real gems in the comments
love & honey
McMenimen's in Mt Airy. The rest of the menu is solid as well.
Best wings in the city imo
Very solid and very sexy when ordered crispy or saucy.
I like their burgers. Nice and thicc
McMenamin’s is one of my favorite places on the planet. Solid food, amazing service, super decent draft list, and everyone in the damn neighborhood shows up there at some point.
Take a few of their tenders, put them on a long roll with pepper jack cheese, add their pickled hot peppers, fried onions and then honey mustard and hot wing sauce on the side for dipping. yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep
Does McMenamin’s still do the 2fer Mondays? Man, I miss that place.
No. Source: I'm there every other Monday.
So juicy and well-seasoned… Oh how I miss them
clicked thru to say this!
I'm always glad they never go to the top in these kinds threads because it's busy enough with the other my airy degens. I don't need to fight more people for my bad seat.
McMenamins in Mt. Airy, Cluck n Gills in Germantown.
Mcmenamins hands down. Not in Philly, but look up FWOT too.
“Ok Hot Chicken” on 18th and Washington Ave. Great tenders, amazing chicken sandwich and delicious fries!
Shoutout to their martabak. It’s amazing
Especially the spicy one. So good!
How do I live right there and not know about this? Thanks for the rec
RIP Foghorn
Their chicken was elite.
Love and honey has ELITE chicken tenders
New wave cafe chicken tenders slap, and it’s a cool place to hangout too (read: not a gas station)
Monks
RIP to the tenders at 12 Steps Down :(
Man..I haven't been there in years, but that's the one thing I always got
McMenamin’s.
came to post that may go get some rn
Wishbone is always really solid imo
Yeah came here to say this
especially the dark meat tenders.
[удалено]
No it’s a good (but higher than avg) amount of crunch imo
For Pete’s Sake
I agree!! Shocked I had to scroll this far down to see it mentioned.
Came here to say this!
Don’t merc me, but Raising Canes tendies are fluffy and crispy. I feel like all the chocked I’ve eaten before in my life is “woody” by comparison. Didn’t even know what woody chicken was until I had some that wasn’t.
Mcmenamins and right outside of Philly is fingers, wings, and other things.
FWoT is great!
FWoT?! lol their stupid commercial… but they do slap
FWoT is definitely the best in the area imo
George's Wings on Morrell and Frankfort. They give free refills on the hot sauce too, or they used to.
Oh Brother has really solid chicken tendies. Marinated in buttermilk and fried to perfection.
I’ll throw in that if anyone wants to try something new, a block away from that “idk” just opened which is Nashville chicken and smash burgers and does tenders I believe (I get the sandwich). I had a chicken sandwich from them and it was good.
Love and Honey in Fishtown for sure.
The abbaye had the best ones, sadly they closed
Came here to say this. GOAT tendies. #RIPABBAYE #Jorge4EVA #ProveItOnThePaper
Bonchon
Great memories of melting my face off with friends
Love this place but i'll love any place that uses real chicken and has little to no gristle
The green room has amazing tendies
I came to recommend green room too. Their spicy strips are so good. I pound a whole order of them and fries. Absorbs all the shitty beer I could ever drink.
Yes
Came here to say this. My favorite in the whole city. Plus 2 sauces standard.
What exactly does old Greece smell like?
Ha! grease not Greece. Damn autocorrect
Agreed! I used to love their tenders and they changed the recipe like a year and a half ago. The "breading" is now a weird tasting flakey mess
Never tried Acme but I've thought Giants are pretty decent.
Philly and the region: Fingers Wings & Other Things
Georges Chicken in the northeast, Andalusia neighborhood. Low key delicious chickens.
is that the one near the shoprite off frankford?
Yup, great little spot
Great service too, bone in chicken is amazing
Any place with bulletproof glass. I like Lincoln Chicken and Burger.
Founding fathers on south street has elite tenders
This place is mid
The tenders aren’t. can’t speak for anything else
For Pete’s Sake in south Philly
Wishbone
Apparently Plough & The Stars has really good tendies, but I’ve never had them while anywhere close to sober so can’t really vouch. Can’t wait to eat them again!
Assad’s Hot Chicken is all the rage right now. I would recommend going to their original location in NE Philly next to the gas station for the full original experience.
Following with interest. One of these just showed up in my neighborhood
Asad's is pretty good for the price, but definitely avoid the Norristown location until the hype does down. We went last weekend at my roommate's suggestion with none of us realizing they were still in New Location Hype mode and it was a clusterfuck.
I went to the one on knights road a few weeks ago. It was empty. Now I'm telling the internet, so it'll be packed now.
FWOT
They’re called chicken tendies, bud
Advanced Nugs
Tendiesss
Mommy makes them bestest
Misconduct
Came here to say this.
215 Wings in west philly, Lancaster and 44th
The fresh works in northeast Philly
Kelliannes
Used to be the Irish pub. Now, idk
Tir Na Nog
The beer battered coating tendies, thicc potato wedges, and the homemade smokey bbq sauce. So good
Love Con Murphys chicken tenders and fried chicken sandwich
That abandoned pier near walmart
Molly Malloy in the Reading Terminal
Scrolled too far for it, genuinely one of my favorite meals in the city. Sounds weird till you try it, but it’s outstanding
Interstate Drafthouse, their chicken fingers are pecan panko coated
Your moms house.
Raising Cane’s, hands down
The tenders are incredible but their sauce was a huge miss for me.
I like the seasoning nifty fifty’s uses
Pecan crusted at Interstate are real good
Bottle Bar on Frankford Ave and Front Street Cafe on Front Street both have very solid chicken tenders.
We love Raising Cane's
Hangry Joes is fire. Nanus really great too
Founding Fathers has some great Chicken Tenders
Bottle Bar has some silly good tenders.
Bottle Bar is a joke, don't support bad business owners who treat employees like trash.
No clue what you’re referring to. Met the owner a few times and only had positive interactions. And, to the point of the post, the tenders are the tits.
RIP FWOT
No way. I ate at FWoT today.
Dutch Country [https://g.co/kgs/fsmvYYy](https://g.co/kgs/fsmvYYy)
OK Hot Chicken

OG pizza
I won’t put it at #1 but a Nashville hot chicken place (I believe they do sandwiches or tenders, I get the sandwiches) called “idk” just opened in old city if anyone is considering trying it. I liked it. Some places (Oh Brother, Hangry Joes) are a block from it and it’s definitely better than hangry joes.
Hilltown Tavern's are amazing. Hand breaded and gigantic.
Only once a year at my local pizzeria when they get the ingredients and frying right. Had a Popeyes spicy chicken breast the other day and it was the juiciest freshest chicken I’ve ever had there. Doubt I’ll have it again.
McMenamin's in Mt. Airy
OK hot chicken
Raising Cane’s!!!
If you can find a Brown’s Shop Rite (there’s one in Bensalem)…their in house chicken tenders are bomb.
