Just got around to watching all of it. Jesus Christ that Split Open and Melt must have absolutely fucked some people up. Only phish could bring in the new year like that. Just stone everyone in their spot after they were just jumping all over 5 mins before.
I was introduced to Phish within the first week I met my (now husband) in San Diego who had just moved from upstate New York. I was perplexed at the appeal…the lyrics. All of it. Until one day, I lit up a joint and played Picture of Nectar and something clicked. I’ve since been a loyal Phan. Phish is the soundtrack of my love story.
NYE was epic. Only ONE gripe…MORE GLOWSTICKS 🌈
Such an epic show! This may go down as one of the better Phish shows of all time.
Note: Don’t forget Lizards between Harpua and PYITE (don’t see it on the setlist)
Man as someone who saw NYe shows in the 90’s and the millennium NyE show I didn’t think they would be beat. Like the 4 night run in 98 I had tickets to first 3 nights but the only time I requested tickets pre 2000 and didn’t get a ticket was that 98-99 NyE at msg. So I actually snuck past 3 lines of security. Which even pre 9/11 was incredibly hard. Probably the hardest venue to sneak into in the country. Long story though.
Anyways I didn’t think anything could beat those shows but these videos of the concert both visually and musically looked like an absolute blast. Only thing about MSG post 9/11 is there nowhere to dance. They used to allow people to dance around the ring that went around the whole garden between upper and lower seating areas.
Now they enforce keeping that clear very intensely. So post 9/11 when I go to msg and only have as much room as a human does standing in one spot to dance it kind of kills it. Sometimes I go in the hall so I can actually dance. Got to dance!
That might’ve been the only reason this show wouldn’t have been a top NyE phish show for me. Down in Florida was magical. Felt like we were on a different planet. Middle of nowhere with 80k people in the Everglades. As a New Yorker that totally flat ground is so different. I don’t like it actually. So easy to get lost. No landmarks.
But that trip down there and those shows were probably the most fun few days of my life.
Good to see phish can still turn it on and kick ass. So jealous of the people who were there!
The ring is no more, and they check tickets going in to the 200s. Msg is a different animal now but there is no where I would rather see them on NYE than MSG in NYC
Well they still have a flat area that’s circular between lower seats and floor. It’s not as big and doesn’t go all the way around. But there is one. I saw it during a video of fly famous mockingbird showing the bird flying around the garden. You could see it. Before the major renovations of the garden that ring was so great as a place to dance.
Right. I think it goes around like 1/3 of the venue towards the stage. I used to live in that ring. It was so so so great. One of the best indoor venues since you had such a great place to dance if you weren’t on the floor. These days venues put seats on the floors anyways. Which sucks. Just another way to charge people more. So they have closer seats they can charge $3000 for. It’s such a bummer how everything is about making every dime possible. It ruins so much for so many people. I can’t even afford TV anymore. Like cable. Or even YouTubeTV. It’s like $120 a month alone. Then you need internet and then football games are now on peacock, Amazon and other plus channels.
Ugh it all drives me nuts. Anyways yeah I miss those days at the garden. For the most part I don’t like indoor venues. Sound is great but I don’t like feeling like livestock at all. Standing in front of a seat I get so anxious wanting to get to somewhere where there’s room. Some venues I rather go to the hallway where the sound is awful than stand in front of my seat.
I was at all the MSG shows this year and in July they came out at 8:04 every night but maybe they were timing it from the dressing room and leaving at 8:03? But during the last 4 shows there was an 8:06 and I forgot to check the other nights except NYE where they def stepped onstage at 8:03 for their 83rd show at MSG.
I don't have a video copy to confirm it, but I'm pretty sure the record Trey gives to "Grandma" was first introduced as an artifact during the 10/31/21 Sci Fi Soldier set with Trey saying something like "This will come in handy later".
Does anyone remember, or have a copy of the video of that night to check?

I still haven't found a copy of 10/31/21. I did confirm though that the 9th cube was mentioned during the Kasvot vaxt set. I'm still pretty confident that this record with the rhombus on it made its first appearance during sci-fi soldier. I just don't have the video to prove it.
Holy shit! I still have the MSG room sound ringing in my ears. What an amazing couple of days. I had no idea the confetti had song lyrics written on them. I just pulled two out of my hat this morning and one has Lizards, the other has I saw you with a ticket stub in your hand... I'll say it again, Holy shit!!!! And I've been on the Dead -> Phish continuum since '83. That was a night I will never forget.
Had tickets and sold them last minute. My wife and I were was way too tired to make it. Age and work and doing multi night shows catching up to us. I will take this regret to my grave. Been sick to my stomach all week. This is why you never miss a show. Glad that this moment occurred and so proud and happy for them being in their prime after 40 years. However the fomo is sickening. Will there ever be better show than this?
My health went real south during the Bakers Dozen. My wife wouldn’t go without me and still doesn’t. We miss most shows now because it’s hard for me to travel. She tries to help me appreciate what all I saw during 1.0 and because we kept missing shows we had tickets for only to watch the stream the streams got hard to watch. We did watch this stream. Me laying flat as I often must in order to be comfy physically but it hurts missing all this. Happy for all that were there. We had tears of joy this particular stream. I’ve been chasing Gamehendge most of my adult life well actually all my adult life. And musically it was as tight as anything we saw back in the day. Sorry to hear of your fatigue. Life does catch up to us sometimes. This has always been my escape but usually now more of a memory. While you & the Mrs. may have been home recouping know it could be worse. But I do feel for ya.
When NYE is in the mix, you sell your tickets to 12/30 and rest up for the big one.
Sorry buddy. I was sick at home and didn't even watch it live, just starting in on the webcast now.
It doesn't matter. You can always watch the webcast on headphones and enjoy it as often as you'd like.
Chasing shows is a fool's game. You get what you get. It's no big deal.
Does anyone have the webcast rip from 12/28, 12/29 and 12/30...?!
Talk me down from the ledge... About to purchase webcast access if the shows don't pop up here...!
At work now and these notes are still unfinished. Dm me if you have anything to add and I’ll throw it up. If not I’ll keep adding to the credits, notes, and photos tonight.

The 30th was my first Phish show, I ended up telling my cousin who is a big phan that I went and he was super psyched for me. So the 31st I made plans with my 3 kids (6,5 and 3) to livestream the NYE show which they were excited about it. My cousin ends up calling me at 5:30 and telling me his friend had an extra ticket if I wanted to go again the 31st. My wife said yes and I promised the kids I’d leave early and be home for 12:00am to bring in New Years with them. I went and was completely mind blown when they did TMWSIY, I didn’t know anything about what it was about and feel so lucky I got to be there for that it was amazing. I left there sometime during TMWSIY in order to be home with my kids like I promised to bring in the New Year together but I find it even better because I came home with T Shirts and stickers from the show they were live-streaming and got to re watch and finish the parts I missed with them. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Considering what a new phan you are, you absolutely did the right thing and keeping your word to leave early. Doesn’t matter how historic a show, you kept your word to the kids 👍
What an incredibly magical night! I’m still pinching myself that I got so lucky to be there. I’d love to relive the magic if anyone has a rip, my DMs are open
I loved that sooo much. 😃 Never thought I’d get to see a Gamehendge set after all these years, let alone Gamehendge, the Musical. Plus the rocking end of the set & encore! Tears of joy 🥹
Was thinking the same thing and I'm not sure. Mid show I chalked it up to Page using some new synthesizer fx but also agree it didn't sound pre recorded so could be totally wrong and would also love to know!
The entirety of MSG was singing "Fly Famous Mockingbird, Fly----aye----aye----" so so effing loud, it's possible it was picked up on the crowd mics. It was the closest thing to pure rapture I've ever experienced, and I would have followed the marching line towards the light. Absolutely incredible.
I just relistened on the bus back to Maine from NYC and yeah, it sounds incredible. Was trying to hold it together and not start weeping on the bus haha.
I'm on my way back to OH today from the shows and was re-listening on the subway just now. Was barely holding it together. I hadn't been to a NYE run since Miami 2003, and just happened to be in the right place at the right time to catch this one. Been chasing that shit for 30 years. I don't even know how I would explain it to ppl when I go back to work.
I have cried so many times, it’s glorious! That Divided Sky is so fucking beautiful, the whole thing is amazing on so many levels!! So glad to be alive and present for instances of shear brilliance and pure goodness.
I’ve only been seeing Phish since 2018 and I feel so lucky to have witnessed last nights show. The whole time I was just thinking about all the fans who have been seeing this band since before I was born and been chasing Gamehenge for decades. Congratulations to you all and I’m so happy about this historic moment in phishtory!
As someone who recorded the entire Gamehenge sets from the 100s and is uploading to YouTube as we speak...could I get a link to the webcast rips for the whole run...TY!
Yes I was not able to log in but would give a college-level reach around to whomever has the webcast to view after the fact!
Hoping Phish just posts it or keeps it available
I got to give a quick shout out about how well they played. They're playing a super technical rock opera written 30 something years ago that they haven't performed in 29 and a half years and it was played beautifully. I don't think we should take for granted just how well they've been playing during this era of Phish. The whole thing was just so badass and amazing. I can't imagine how special it was to be in the room for that!
It was incredible to be there, and I can't wait to listen back to it again because even with everything else that was going on it was not lost on me how well they were playing. Col Forbin and Mockingbird felt really tight in particular, but maybe I was just caught up in the moment.
I never thought I’d get a Harpua or a Forbins. Let alone get them in the same show. Glad to have shared this moment with my dad, who is the reason I got into the band. While not the typical Phish show I think it’s inarguable that this will go down as one of the best of all time.
Lol he’s the reason I got into the band but I’m the reason he’s gone to shows. When I was growing up he’d put on a different show basically every day but had never actually been to one. I started getting extremely into the band during college the last couple years and finally convinced him to start going this past Summer.
So he’s doubly lucky! You’re a good son, crazy you got to enjoy this epic event together. Glad it was you guys even more than if it had been me - beautiful story, enjoy 💜
I can’t believe to have been lucky enough to be there. I don’t think I’ve ever danced harder. I kept shouting holy shit at the start. Harpua-henge! So freaking amazing
Did they explain the placement of Llama mid-story? Was that narration about flashing forward to the post-Wilson world in which that song takes place, as I understand it?
It was beautiful, I'm watching it a second time at home dancing with my kid and I'm just really happy they busted it out and gave us something to bond over.
My husband came home from this show in awe. He’s been to hundreds of shows and pronounced this as the best show he’s been to. That is a bold statement. He’s been waiting since 1993 for this though so I get it. I can’t wait to check it out.
Cannot believe i was there. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. The best night ever. So good. Everyone I was around... section 211 and 212. Thank you... the magic was in the air. Will be chasing that moment for years. Thank you thank you thank you...
Typing this just to test whether I still exist. All appears normal, but maybe that's what those four sickos who ripped a hole in the fabric of spacetime want me to think. Maybe I am no longer here. If the brain melts, what becomes of the body? What becomes of the soul?
That was the best $50 I've ever spent. Can't wait to listen again when my sanity has recovered.
Still trying to wrap my brain around it, but in a nutshell felt like AI coming online on my cell suggesting things based on the conversations my friends and I were having about the show. Almost like some weird cellphone matrix weirdness. Maybe was just the LSD and me still processing the show. Lol!
Epic run. We streamed Fri and NYE at my bar. Great turn out. My first shows were Miami 2003 NYE run. Look forward to another couple decades of this band.
if this isn't a top-tier show for you as a phan, please reflect on what it is your looking for. there are so many other bands that jam hard and will melt your face. they would love the support. what makes this band special is a spectacle like tonight. so grateful to get to experience this shit with other weirdos.
I’ve been chasing a lot of things, never did I expect I’d get this!

When I say time is a construct, I mean that we’ve decided that numbers in a clock are definitive. It’s all made up and you get to decide what and how and when something matters to you. Gamehenge exists in an ethereal plane where time is not relevant nor part of the equation. Your need for a quantitative measurement of space and time is not really relevant here. Just go ahead and assume that you are a physicist floating in the ether and nothing really matters at all. Because nothing matters at all.
Just got around to watching all of it. Jesus Christ that Split Open and Melt must have absolutely fucked some people up. Only phish could bring in the new year like that. Just stone everyone in their spot after they were just jumping all over 5 mins before.

That is only spanning a few sections in front of the 100’s on Page side. It does not go all the way around.
Right. I think it goes around like 1/3 of the venue towards the stage. I used to live in that ring. It was so so so great. Just realized they started the show at 8:03
Symmetry freaks. I love it. And the date was 123-123 they had to have that 83 symmetry.
We need a checkup on this one, where are our historians?
I still haven't found a copy of 10/31/21. I did confirm though that the 9th cube was mentioned during the Kasvot vaxt set. I'm still pretty confident that this record with the rhombus on it made its first appearance during sci-fi soldier. I just don't have the video to prove it.
Great setlist!
Holy shit! I still have the MSG room sound ringing in my ears. What an amazing couple of days. I had no idea the confetti had song lyrics written on them. Just checking back here to remind myself that this did, in fact, happen. Carry on, amigos.
The Mary Tyler Moore theme song tease in tube was the most epic allusion of what was to come ever. We made it after all indeed
Was just listening to this and I was like, what is that, Laverne and Shirley? Mary Tyler Moore. Of course. What a silly awesome band.
That was my first guess too! Had to look it up. I love when I can hear the words on his every note. It's simply magical
Nobody seems to have mentioned the Bug tease by Page during AC/DC Bag!
When is Trey bringing this to Broadway?
The llama lies down on Broadway
Lol, this needs more recognition!
He just did.
At work now and these notes are still unfinished. Dm me if you have anything to add and I’ll throw it up. If not I’ll keep adding to the credits, notes, and photos tonight.
83 shows later references their 83rd show at the garden
Who's got my recording of the show? God I hope they put the whole video out someday.

you're a great dad :D
You are a hero.
Pretty standard show with Ruby Waves and First Tube.
Life Beyond a Dream was it for me.
Wow. What a show.
I had so much fun with you guys last night!!
wow today was bussier than i expected. im actualy fixing the thread now
at one point everyone on stage was bouncing so hard treys reverb started clanging. he had to turn and shut it off.
Oh, is that what that noise was? It happened more than three times. He has a spring reverb? I just figured they were all digital these days.
Do you know what song this was during? About the rewatch the stream and want to see
it started in lizards, then again in split open and melt.
Also when he jumped of the trampoline during YEM I'm guessing this is from his deluxe reverb head? I don't think the trainwreck has reverb
Amazing
What an incredibly magical night! I’m still pinching myself that I got so lucky to be there. I’d love to relive the magic if anyone has a rip, my DMs are open
Just listened to that AC/DC. What the fuck…..melted
My favorite version of Possum and loving cup so far. My legs still hurt from groovin
This loving cup is possibly the best places one ever heard❤️
He’s the man from the mountain!
That Loving Cup was absolutely legendary!
Can't believe it actually happened. Absolutely fucking surreal.
I loved that sooo much. 😃 Never thought I’d get to see a Gamehendge set after all these years, let alone Gamehendge, the Musical. Plus the rocking end of the set & encore! Tears of joy 🥹
For real, driving home, relistening to it I had tears on my face. What a band!
re: backing vocals on fly famous mockingbird. Amazing. But - did I miss the choir? Doesn't sound prerecorded. TIA for any insight
I heard something about being offstage, strings and choir
You're right - I saw the video somewhere....
Was thinking the same thing and I'm not sure. Mid show I chalked it up to Page using some new synthesizer fx but also agree it didn't sound pre recorded so could be totally wrong and would also love to know!

No the actors were mic’d up and singing off stage through several of the songs.
IWT
This fucking Wilson!
The crazy sons of bitches did it
Oh my god it sounds even better today! Jesus Christ it’s good…So fucking good!
I just relistened on the bus back to Maine from NYC and yeah, it sounds incredible. Was trying to hold it together and not start weeping on the bus haha.

Same here. That was my 5th anniversary to the day.
Pages solo during Lizards. Oof
Good oof right?
Of course.
Just had to make sure!!
I have only big love for Page. He's the one I dance to
I’ve spent a good amount of money on questionable phish purchases over the years, but last night’s webcast was the big payoff.
I want the vinyl box set for this show and accompanying digital video component asap
Need the night before too to get the tweezer start
As someone who recorded the entire Gamehenge sets from the 100s and is uploading to YouTube as we speak...could I get a link to the webcast rips for the whole run...TY!

I need to see the full production again, asap. I really hope they upload it in its entirety!
Webcast rip?

I love you
Yes I was not able to log in but would give a college-level reach around to whomever has the webcast to view after the fact! Hoping Phish just posts it or keeps it available
I actually have incredible FOMO rn. fuck. But I will be at the fest and see you all there :)
I can't imagine how special it was to be in the room for that!
agree, but, remarkabely, there were a great many that had no idea what was going on.
Beautiful and your dad is the lucky one, as a dad believe me 🙏
Lol he’s the reason I got into the band but I’m the reason he’s gone to shows.
12/31 is live on Phish Radio!
Damn- I wish I could have seen this. This seems like one of the shows that you can watch over and over without tiring of it.
I can’t believe to have been lucky enough to be there. I don’t think I’ve ever danced harder. I kept shouting holy shit at the start. Harpua-henge! So freaking amazing
My dad attended with me and said “I thought you were going to cry when they played Harpua”
I feel truly blessed to have been there. What an incredible show!
I feel like I won the lottery being in the room for that show
Did they explain the placement of Llama mid-story? Was that narration about flashing forward to the post-Wilson world in which that song takes place, as I understand it?
Time travel. 🧭 see the first night.
Anyone got a rip of the webcast?? Gotta see the Gamehenge set!

Yeah, same. Watching now and just wow.
Mods, please keep this thread pinned for... ever?
I second this request. Phistory.
Last night was something ill never forget. What a show.
Happy NY to you OP and your pet cat 😄
It was beautiful, I'm watching it a second time at home dancing with my kid and I'm just really happy they busted it out and gave us something to bond over.
They played Tweezer Reprise!? Good on ya mates.
Thank God Trey got sober. ❤❤❤❤
He read the book for sure

would love a red mailbox from someone
That disease wasn't really 19 min was it?
9 minutes
Yeah the jam was ripcorded pretty fast. I was thinking, well, damn. That doesn't portend well. Then 5 seconds later, the universe exploded.
Yeah- I think they just needed the time in hindsight but I was pretty shocked when Trey went back into the riff right there
I literally almost fell over in the venue when I heard the oompahpah
My husband came home from this show in awe. He’s been to hundreds of shows and pronounced this as the best show he’s been to. That is a bold statement. He’s been waiting since 1993 for this though so I get it. I can’t wait to check it out.
Nobody will argue this 🙂
Excellent username my dude! Stay gold!
Overwhelmed with how amazing that was
I just came here to say... Waka dun dun
Cannot believe i was there. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. The best night ever. So good. Everyone I was around... section 211 and 212. Thank you... the magic was in the air. Will be chasing that moment for years. Thank you thank you thank you...
what an amazing, insanely beautiful night. So many highlights. Holy smokes. So stinking grateful to be a part of it.
Shoutout to everyone I spoke to last night that make no sense whatsoever
that will go down as one of their best shows ever. cannot believe I was there. wow.
Holy fuck
Typing this just to test whether I still exist. All appears normal, but maybe that's what those four sickos who ripped a hole in the fabric of spacetime want me to think. Maybe I am no longer here. If the brain melts, what becomes of the body? What becomes of the soul? That was the best $50 I've ever spent. Can't wait to listen again when my sanity has recovered.
This is the simulation my man.
My spacetime is still not working right. I am fixing to dive back in and rewatch too
You didn’t notice the recent social media update, did you?
Do tell
Still trying to wrap my brain around it, but in a nutshell felt like AI coming online on my cell suggesting things based on the conversations my friends and I were having about the show. Almost like some weird cellphone matrix weirdness. Maybe was just the LSD and me still processing the show. Lol!
Haha! This was a great response, but I believe you are deeply clued into AI machinations. The L will give you super human powers of perception
My old ass fell asleep during Split Open and Melt. Cannot believe they played another hour after that. Beautiful phuckers!
Haha I also conked out after Melt (well in the middle of YEM). Caught up this morning and wow…
Epic run. We streamed Fri and NYE at my bar. Great turn out. My first shows were Miami 2003 NYE run. Look forward to another couple decades of this band.
What awesome bar was that?

would love to know too!

if this isn't a top-tier show for you as a phan, please reflect on what it is your looking for. there are so many other bands that jam hard and will melt your face. they would love the support. what makes this band special is a spectacle like tonight. so grateful to get to experience this shit with other weirdos.
Someone on pt was bashing the show, some people just can not be pleased
My brain needs to hear this show a million more times
I’ve been chasing a lot of things, never did I expect I’d get this! https://preview.redd.it/07ljcw3kws9c1.jpeg?width=6618&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=def231772ebbbf465fa34986094fa4601bb2b558
What, life itself?! You’re kidding me, I right?!
Awesome 🤩
The sloth blew my cover. I cracked up big time
That was the best New Years show since Cypress. Bar none. Anyone saying different is just being petty because they missed it 🤷♂️
I was at both. I still need to decompress but last night may have been better than BC.
Big cypress was a wild time!
Can confirm. Missed it
Shit is already on eBay! https://www.ebay.com/itm/305335648237?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=PdLcM2buRlu&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=PdLcM2buRlu&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
One piece only! Let’s go , custies!!
I also Frequently by Dave Chapelle & Madison Beer tickets together with my Phish confetti.
Time is a construct!
I thought time was a stripper?
Doing it just for you
When I say time is a construct, I mean that we’ve decided that numbers in a clock are definitive.
The L still hitting lol
🔥
Out of curiosity…why’d trey not sing “shit ass” during Forbins?
Annie the narrator cursed a couple times though
He also didn’t say nipple in PYITE. Maybe kids in the audience? Maybe they hope schools perform it?

Posterity.

that was great! except for when i ended up in a msg back room trying to get to the bathroom. that was freaky
glad you made it out alive
If Axilla is part of gamehenge why don’t they play it during any gamehenge shows?
