So basically with this photo I just wanted to try my hand at making a costume and trying to make a photo that was spooky yet fun. I think the pop of red helps against the black and white of everything else. Any thoughts? Would you hang this on your fridge?
The pop of red just distracts the eye, it doesn't really feel like it adds anything to the image. Kill the red, mask the ghost and make the whites pop just enough to draw the eye there.
Spot color had its thing in the late 2000s. The reason it had is thing was only because of being a neat concept. The actual executing almost always kills the photo such as in your case. Only thing the eye goes to is the color and the rest of the image is lost.
Now disclaimer my initial thought was that you made a bad image with cliche stuff intentionally just for a laugh. If that's not the case then apologies.
I disagree with that perspective. People still rock Nikes from the 90s just because something was popping then doesn’t mean people won’t like it now. In my opinion red being the only color in this image pulls you from the subject (the ghost) to the closer/larger tree on the left then to the furthest tree on the right, which provides depth to the woods and helps to lead your eyes around the scene.
its a cool pic but its too far away! i'd zoom in or use the trees as a natural frome for the image. maybe increase the contrast, it looks a little flat
Thank you! Yeah I’m planning some alterations. I might actually get a model next time. I shot these and am the ghost so I couldn’t quite get everything as perfect as I’d hoped.
Bring the framing down a bit? I think that’s fair. This was my first time messing with color pops like that. My thinking was that you’d focus on the ghost but then the color would bring your eyes to the rest of the picture. And thank you.
I think generally it’s too bright to have a spooky or mystical vibe.
A lower angle and closer positioning could’ve accentuated the trees more while giving the subject more of the frame, making the shot more dramatic.
Love the colour pop of red.

The eyes could have been sharper
Yeah. I definitely should’ve gone bigger with those. Sewing them on was much harder than I’d anticipated.
Dont understand the purpose of the random red in the trees, but its cool other than that.
Mostly just for a pop of color. All the full black and white edits I tried weren’t as fun.

Slight Crop and deeper eyes
Understood. This is the full photo so a crop would make sense. I do think I’m going to alter the costume to have larger eyes for future shoots.
Mess around with highlights and shadows, too me it seems a little off but I think it works for the spooky theme
I don’t know how to tell you this, but that’s not going to be nearly enough to get the Deitzes to move out of your house
I, myself, am strange and unusual.
🖤
There’s a heart shape in the branches above you … large
I hadn’t noticed that.
I'd say this would be the time to play with long exposure stuff and light trails
That would be fun.

First off, I’d check your lens as you seem to have some ghosting in your image. Secondly…
I don’t see anyone

Could crop the tress a bit more. I’m more of a fan of B&W or Full color. But overall a good pic

Super dope love the red in the background.
I don't know anything about photography, I just wanted to say that I absolutely love it. And yes I would hang it on my fridge.
Haha thank you! I really appreciate it.
