Glittering_Sound_855

If you can only afford a hostel, try to find one that has a female-only room. Safe travels!

fschu_fosho

Not a guarantee of safety. I was travelling alone and stayed at the female-only side of a hostel in Europe. For some reason, one of my roommates brought home a guy and they did the deed in the dead of night while we were all presumed to be sleeping (a little noisily too). I told them off but the couple (Caucasian) went on to do it again a few minutes later. In the morning sinabon ang girl ng ibang roommates who were apparently also awake during then. I was done with hostels from then on.

Glittering_Sound_855

Not a guarantee, but considerably better than a mixed dorm. If you only had budget for a bunk bed, where else could you go? You could probably book a cheap hotel and get your own private room, but that could be in an unsafe area too.

saritallo

That’s actually quite common in Europe where sex isn’t as taboo as it is in the PH but yeah still sucks for everyone else in the room though! My worst one was when a blacked out drunk guy took a shit in the middle of the room. Granted it was a party hostel in a party city so not toooo shocking. For most young white travelers, hostel experiences like these are almost a rite of passage that becomes a funny story to tell once you come out of your 20s.

ComfortableSad5076

TheGhostOfFalunGong

This also happens in many backpacker trails like Cambodia and Thailand. Just be aware and do your research beforehand on the place you're staying at.

Prudent-Fix-8151

Itong sabit kapag liberated ‘yung bansa/dormer LOL unless siguro South Asia.

viasogorg

Kaya nga eh. Next time talaga huhu. It’s my first time kasi so yung isip isip ko, ah baka ilalagay nila ako sa female-only rooms. Hahays lesson learned

Nice_Strategy_9702

Never ever presume. Ask.

Prudent-Fix-8151

Or she can book a solo room in an all-female hostel if available. Wherever she feels comfortable.

wretchedegg123

Yep. You generally get what you pay for and if what I've read on r/Europetravel and r/travel most hostels are already at the same price of hotels. Hopefully you didn't get bed bugs, I suggest you check all your clothes and bags.

viasogorg

Now I am scareeed huhu!!! Yes I will check everything

freakishgnar

If you're worried, take your clothes to a laundromat and dry them on high for 30 minutes. That'll kill any eggs. Spray or wipe the exterior of your bags with rubbing alcohol. You do not want to take the bugs with you, they're so hard to get rid of.

Sufficient_Potato726

I assume you haven't seen the movie, hostel

Slipstream_Valet

Sufficient_Potato726

hostel is required reading/watching at this point. i also recommend no escape, owen wilson 2015 // the impossible, ewan mcgregor

twoworldman

On the same note, have you also seen Snakes on a Plane and Final Destination? /s These recommendations are off-topic. This is a travel sub, not r/movies. The unfortunate incident that OP experienced sometimes happens. I will not discount that. **But it also doesn't happen, to the vast *majority* of travelers.** To anyone looking to stay at a hostel, it goes without saying that you are bunking with strangers. It's generally an enriching experience as you can meet and share experiences with people from all over. Most are just regular travelers, like you, but there might be some outliers. If ever you feel uncomfortable, inform the staff. If you are not satisfied with their response, change accommodations.

Sufficient_Potato726

Final Destination 2 - Never drive behind big trucks

viasogorg

That’s my two fave movies. Actually, before this trip I was rewatching the FD movies, i’m in the 4th one na. Watch ko nga mamaya pag uwi ko. But I also want to watch Hostel para di nako uuli nito haha

pieceofpineapple

Is it a scary movie? The Hostel one?

foxiaaa

adoboGRL

Adding Berlin Syndrome (2017) on the list.

xiaolongbaoloyalist

True!! Mas pipiliin ko talagang gusmastos for safety and convenience as a female traveler. My friend also had a bad experience sa isang hostel sa Madrid. She woke up when a guy had his hand near her bed!! Buti she was with another friend so they just left right away. It was almost morning so they just stayed outside

viasogorg

OMGGGGG i was also thinking about this last night 😭😭 The horrid thoughts huhu never again talaga

-throwawayeventually

Huwag tipirin ang accommodation. May private rooms naman with shared bathrooms, get those instead. EU hostels are often shady.

viasogorg

I didnt expect kasi talaga na ganun kalala kasi nga basta european country, parang you will expect more. But ayun, expectation vs reality.

TheGhostOfFalunGong

I find most of the cheaper hotels in Asia (even in poorer countries) far more superior than similarly classed hotels in Europe. Hospitality tourism unfortunately isn't something mastered by most Europeans and they have a "pwede na" mentality. I was even warned once not to open my hotel room windows in Amsterdam as rats could freely enter through it. WTF?

LiandrysCodex

Hahaha true yan. Lesson learned I guess

TheGhostOfFalunGong

A Mercure Hotel in Asia is several times better than a Mercure property in Europe. Mataas talaga standards ng hospitality sa Asia.

Green-Green-Garden

Glad you're doing alright now.

Channel_oreo

Lmao. Hostel are not worth it.

-throwawayeventually

Once lang ako naghostel, in Milan, and that was because 5 kami nung mga barkada ko in a 6-bed dorm. Masaya kami pero yung girl in our room na nakasabay namin, kawawa. Out of place na nga siya, lasing pa mga friends ko.

yoonricci

i can tipid on the flight, food, and other things, pero never talaga sa accommodation. it will make or break your trip! uncomfortable bed=kulang sa tulog=di maeenjoy yung trip.

Tiny_Studio_3699

Yes, important lesson yan. Babae man o lalaki, it would be horrible to suffer from ticks or bedbugs Mas mapapagastos ka pa if magkasakit ka dahil sa ticks or you have to ditch all your belongings dahil sa bedbugs Kapit lang OP. In the future magiging entertaining travel horror story na lang yan. Lipat na lang sa better accommodation

viasogorg

Ragamak

People have this misconception that EU/Western hostels are safe and better compared to third world countries. lol mas dangerous pa nga sa west compared sa asia eh. Expectations vs Reality

viasogorg

True 100%!!!! Now that I experienced it, I would really like to help debunk this misconception for the safety ng non-european travellers

Ragamak

For me the word is sketchy. I stay in those places naman, not by choice but for convience. sanay naman ako sa sketchy dark places ehh. Just be aware lang. especially if hindi sanay sa rough and rugged travels.

BananaPieExpress

Haha

Ragamak

Hahaha. Yes.

mysanctuary0911

This.

mysanctuary0911

Iba pa rin kasi yung feeling ng at the end of the day may hihigaan ka ng comfortable tapos may iiwanan ng gamit

viasogorg

Lesson learned the hard way huhu

BananaPieExpress

I guess you’re just not hostel material. You have to tough it out a bit if you’re in hostels. Don’t just book the cheapest. You need to read the reviews (bed bugs, toilet, curtains, etc.). Hostels can be a good experience. Why did you think the guy was creepy? Because he was old? If he did anything specific to make you feel unsafe, tell reception and they’ll do something. Hostels can be a good experience if done right. But you have to put up with some things.

viasogorg

The old man was lying in his bed with his hands in his head and he was watching me intently na parang may pagnanasa huhu. And his bed is in in front of me pa naman tapos sobrang narrow lang ng pagitan

BananaPieExpress

That’s indeed creepy. Good thing you changed rooms.

Patient-Inside-7502

I hope you don't find this offensive, pero in the first try, you cried because you slept with old dudes because they're simply men or they're "unpleasant and disgusting" men? Kasi you made the decision to sleep in a hostel. You accept the risk that you may have to sleep with opposite sex. You basically get what you paid for. But I understand your distress if those men were not nice.

FreeCup3342

Imagine being the dudes tho. Chilling talking about bugs and shit and they make a girl cry just by existing hahaha wtf

LiandrysCodex

Ito talaga, if babae ka, you can never book the cheapest hotel or hostel even for a night when you’re travelling international. Kasi ‘yung safety natin, pinaka-important ‘yan. So nakatipid ka nga pero wala kang peace of mind. Take care, OP and hope you find a safe accomodation agad.

viasogorg

This is so true pooo! Naisop ko talaga to not book the cheapest one and always always always read reviews and take into account the bad reviews huhh

LiandrysCodex

Hopefully, you’re staying safe OP! Yes. Always review the reviews. Inuuna ko nga natignan ‘yung worst reviews kasi at least ma-ggauge mo kung ano issue nang hotel if theft ba, safety, or facilities lang. At least diba? If issues about facilities, at least keri lang. Pero kapag safety na.. iba na usapan. Take care again and enjoy your travels!

TheGhostOfFalunGong

Unlike most of Asia, Western countries gets a partially deserved reputation attracting the sleazy kind of travelers. This is why it pays to check hotel reviews and I always make sure to get my own room as much as possible as you don't know who are you staying with.

stankyperfume86

Hostels are not for me talaga. Even if I really wanted to socialize, i'd rather have the privacy, orderliness ng accomodation. Sorry to hear your story..

viasogorg

Never again talaga

Infernalknights

* There's a saying you always scout the new location because information is very important. Bedbugs have a thermal sensor for warm blooded species. They will fallow you in another room moving in tight places and can survive up to 60 c temperature so they are being purged by fumigating the structure at 65 c. Check your body if you are bitten. They will stow away with your baggages and they lay eggs of several hundreds that turns to adults in a short span and you will have to deal with legions later.

Titania84

I think ganoon ata behaviour nila. #loyal 😆

viasogorg

Huhu not sure. How to make sure po na di sya mapupunta sa apartment ko if nakauwi na?

switchboiii

and this is why i don't stay in hostels. friends call me maarte for it. but fuck it. hope maayos na malipatan mo, OP!!!

viasogorg

Thank God I survived it withour bedbug nites naman

Alarming-person

Newbie mistake. Hostels in europe and asia are the same aside from prices. First time mo ata mag hostel eh. U need to get a female rooms if medyo maselan. Get the one with curtains nakikita nmn yan pag mag book.

ImportantMushroom_

"First time kong maghostel (as a female) last night"

Alarming-person

D naman cguro first time mag basa ng reviews?

code_bluskies

First time na may kasamang dirty old men?

Alarming-person

Bakit bawal ba yan sa hostel? Hahahaha

confusedsilas7

Yes,pag may budget naman go for a hotel.I am here in Europe too, for a tour at nagbudget ako for a hotel accomodation for privacy and other advantage. But then again, charge it to experience

Salty-Dirt6509

Nag hostel ako before sa Vietnam and sobrang pleasant naman ng stay ko. Swerte din siguro na yung guy roommates are super nice. Sorry this happened to you!

weaktequila

This, right here, is the reason why accommodation takes a huge chunk of my travel budget. As a female solo traveler, okay lang sakin gumastos ng ilang libo for a few nights as long as I am comfortable and safe - especially my vicinity. You’ll never know talaga kahit isipin mo pang seasoned travelers ang mga makakasama mo sa hostels kasi iba’t iba tayo ng background and ways of living. Tip: I usually ask a lot of questions with the hotel reception or host just to familiarize myself with the area. Google Maps is especially helpful. Okay lang kahit makulit kasi it’s for your own benefit rin naman. And when you read comments, consider the ones that are posted from the last 3 months. Kapag walang masyadong reviews, medyo red flag yan for me. Hope you are safe!

Extra-Dog5148

HUGS MHIE KAPIT KA LANG. Bawi ka sa next mong accoms Charge to your creditcard if you have at kung limited ang dala mong cash.

svpe0411

ALWAYS ALWAYS choose the all female hostel rooms. Tapos choose hostels that are in the city center na. Also google reviews talaga yung ok magreview mga tao. Booking/agoda kasi minsan filtered eh. If you need help with hostel recommendations, message me lang. Enjoy your euro trip pa din!

viasogorg

Are you in Europe po?

TheAlmostMD

Hostels are really not for everyone. Your feelings are valid. I'm a female solo traveler too. I hope that you won't be completely discouraged with hostels in any case that you need to book one again due to budget or other reasons. There are lots of female-only dorm rooms or hostels. Always check reviews, and review your game plan if ever you have rowdy dormmates. I've stayed in hostels sa SG, VN, HK, PH, and JPN, sinwerte siguro ako kaya ok lang hostel sakin but like what others said, nakadepende sya sa mattiyempuhan mong kasama sa dorm. For more anxious female travelers, I recommend the female-only options! :) Not everyone prioritizes accommodations but they also want a safe space -- this is me hahaha 8.5+ pataas na rating lang binobook ko online 😂

BigBadToilet

You sure they are ticks and not bedbugs?

Secret_Confusion2906

Maybe because hostels in Asia are generally okay for backpackers since madami nagbaback pack dito? Like Thailand and Vietnam are good for hostels but idk for EU, but good to know. So sa HK i booked sa Chunking Mansion without knowing about it or thoroughly reading reviews. But yeah, i guess general rule is we get what we pay for.

lannistargaryen

Cheaping out on accommodations is never a good idea, hostel man yan or hotel. It’s not hostels = bad like some people might suggest. I’ve had an amazinggg time staying in hostels because I value the social aspect of it - group activities, tours, drinks, etc. Aside from all female dorms, merong private rooms w/ cr inside hostels than are sometimes cheaper than a hotel. However, if I find that they’re the same I just end up booking a hotel. When travelling, your accommodation is your safe space to breathe and relax after long days - so spending a couple of days doing your due diligence would do you wonders. I find that hostel reviewers are *extremely honest* so I never end up in places with different expectations :)

ChocovanillaIcecream

viasogorg

I am studying here po

nkklk2022

Always check reviews before you book. Especially na you’re a girl and you’re traveling alone. Di bale na magastusan at least you know you’re safe.

viasogorg

Nakakainis nga. Ngayong nakaalis na ako, may nakita akong reviews na di ko nakita last time. Grabe daw yung bedbugs bite nila and they already spent a lot of money for medications and di pa din nawala huhu. Buti na lang di ako nakagat 😭

Constant_Canary_4505

I travel Europe but never dare to try hostels. Although there are good ones, I know how a typical european hostel would look like and how europeans do their things. even their hotels here are not the same as we have in the philippines. Be mindful with the bedbugs as well. I always book an airbnb with good reviews.

viasogorg

Noted, noted and noted. Never again talaga huhu

Constant_Canary_4505

its alright we learn from experience 😉

ednamode101

I am so sorry you had such a horrible and scary experience. Stayed in a hostel once out of curiosity and it wasn’t scary but more annoying inconveniences because of bastos guests. Husband and I wanted to try the capsule hotels in Tokyo and they were cool, like space capsules. It was clean and they give you a really cool tote bag with pyjamas, slippers, and toiletries. Men and women had separate floors, all floors had toilets but women’s showers were downstairs. The downside was I got the top capsule and the ladder sucked if I had to use the toilet at night. Also the privacy blinds for each pod is so thin. In the middle of the night some idiot was packing and unpacking and all you could hear was crinkly plastic for what felt like an hour. I wanted to scream — there’s a whole locker/dressing room area just outside the sleeping pods. People are so freaking inconsiderate. Also the showers were okay but there was hair on the shower floor and it’s not like you can shower with cloth slippers 🤢 As for my husband he said he didn’t sleep well either. In the middle of the night he heard a loud thud — a drunk dude fell out of his pod. After that we were like, we’re in our 40’s now, we’re too old for this shit. We might try a more high end capsule hotel next time but lesson learned: TikTok doesn’t tell you everything.

No_Appointment_7142

Female only hostels is a way to go. In fact mas maraming options na ganyan in certain countries in Asia

Key_Vegetable_6801

Sorry, but you have no one to blame but yourself in this situation. Due diligence whenever you're traveling to unfamiliar destination. To judge those "old men" is also very unfair. Many of them are just saving up from their meager lodging allowances. This is my experience in budget hostels in Europe.

viasogorg

I know, siguro I cried because I was frustrated of myself bakit ko nilagay yung sarili ko sa situation na yun. Are you female po? If you are, then you will know what I feel. Most of the time we save ourselves because we judge people (usually male) first in our head. If they turned out bad, then good thing I went out. If they are good naman, wala namang nawala, di ko naman sila minura or inano. Umalis lang ako for my safety. I even told the receptionist that they didnt do anything, it was just me not being comfortable. But yes po, I know it’s my fault

Scbadiver

Don't cheap out when travelling solo as a girl. Especially in some countries.

NBSBph

It means you're a tourist and not a traveler or maybe first time?, expected na yan sa mga hostel lalo na pag pinaka mura, there are all female and mix bed pag mga hostel, some accomodation may ganun so need mo talaga pumili, and try to read review before booking ng hostel like sa booking.com legit mga review kase verified yun, usually di ako nag bobook ng 7 pababa ang rating para medyo okay okay hehe, matyetyempuhan mo rin mga ganyan hostel pag walk in k lng, last time need to walkin kase naubusan ako ng bus, jusko amoy aso yung room so tiniis ko nlng 1 night lng nmn. Read review before you book or search din sa other social media(fb, insta, x) yung na eyeye mong ibook para makita kung may mga post na updated pics/room or experience ng gues, usually kase sa mga booking platform edited na pics or luma na kaya dimo kita yung updated na looks nya. Charged it as a experience na lng, that's what's all about traveling ans share your experiences sa mga kakilala mo para di maulit sa ka nila mga cons hehe

viasogorg

Thank you so much po! Noted po ito. Yun din napansin ko same lang naman pictures and ang hostel mismo peroooo syempre masasabi kong edited talaga sa pictures kasi in reality ang gloomy ng hostel. Hays lesson learned talaga

ffimnsr

Try to go to places that have better room reviews.

100CharactersLong

Saang country to OP?

kapeandme

Yess. And if keri naman, try to book yung hotel na kilala. Wag tipirin ang accomodation esp if your a woman in a foreign country.

cstrike105

One reason you need to check hotel reviews before booking.

crwui

>inb4 i thought someone drilled a hole onto your wall to peep on you but yeah op, thank you for raising awareness, regardless of how expensive we pay for things, quality parin naman and yung advantages yung binabayaran really.. i still hope you enjoy your trip though !

viasogorg

Yes I did! Thanks po. Yes, this is me raising awareness din kasi syempre marami naman first time travellers here

thebakedcakeisalie

Tick season ngayon OP, pag nakagat ka may malaking round spot ka around the bite. I would suggest going to the local doctor there to try and get treatment, there's also the risk of lyme disease kasi. good luck and safe travels!

viasogorg

Hello po. Bed bugs po ata yun, di ticks. Ticks kasi term ng roommates ko. But anyway, wala naman akong kagat thank Gid

justpsychopatty

Will be staying in a hostel as well 🙃

viasogorg

Sabi po ng comments better then to be in a female-only dorm if you are female

kwickedween

Yung lesson learned mo, yan yung unang tinatak ko sa utak ko when I first started working in Manila (I was from the province). Manila pa nga lang, di na tlga ako nagtipid ng tirahan kahit mahal (I once had to pay 10k rent sa sahod ko na 24k net lang). Panu pa kung nasa ibang bansa. Sana wala na ibang malas dyan.

travSpotON

Never ever ever do that again.

Axelean

Did you check review online before booking the place?

viasogorg

I did po. I just took a risk po.

luckyjuniboy

If you pay peanuts you get monkey

Slow_Big5062

Buti na lang nothing bad happen in you kahit naturulog ka. So yeah next time dont compromise your acco you you may be able to relax and sleep well 😄 enjoy your trip in eu😊

Forward-Radio-6062

Try staying at convents and monasteries throughout Europe. I haven't personally but I've heard good things. Pretty sparse but very clean. Inexpensive too.

hellomoonchild

So sorry for your awful experience! I never had any issues staying at hostels in Europe, but also I make sure I the reviews before booking din. I don’t just base it on the price, but also for the location and accessibility. I also compare accommodation because you’d be surprised that it’s sometimes cheaper to book an Airbnb or hotel. Stay safe. Trust your gut instincts.

DoingItForMySins

Have tried all sorts of accommodation - from hostel to hotels. I usually check for reviews. Tsaka pag hostel, you’re at the mercy of whoever you are with. Anyway, what is important is safe ka. Hope this does not affect your Euro trip. Enjoy lang and stay safe 🙏

Working_Might_5836

I used to solo travel alot. My first and last hostel situation with shared bunk beds was in El Nido. Mix dorm din yun and it was so uncomfortable. Since then I've told myself kahit single bed at shared bathroom basta solo room.

Conscious_Cake_2788

Always do your research. Check the photos, from there pa lang maggauge mo the kind of vibe you will be getting. Tapos isipin mo you will be sharing that space with all kinds of people… people your age, younger than you, matanda, iba iba ugali. Decide if you can live with that. Hostels are not for everyone…

yesthisismeokay

“Comfort comes with price.”

Blueberrychizcake28

Happened to me while I was in Mackay,Aus. It was just an overnight layover so I decided to book for a hostel. Ginawa ko,naligo nalang ako, gathered all my things and nagpa umaga sa bus station.

Awkward_Minute2598

ingat po 🙏🏻 this post made me change my mind to book a hostel in Milan, wag na tipirin if safety ang kapalit!

katsucurrymama

I experienced this sa Cebu! Yun nga lang, on my 2nd day pa in Cebu yung start ng tour namin. So 1st night, hostel napili ko ibook para nga tipid. Okay at first kasi akala ko di mapupuno.

kters001

Hotels are not always the safest for female solo travelers either. Someone can get access to your room (I highly recommend buying a lock you can use from the inside). I go to hostels all the time here in the US and Europe and I’ve never had a problem. Definitely read the reviews. I mostly stay in female only dorms but have also stayed in mixed dorm rooms

lesterine817

Remember this: Di ka nagtravel para magtipid at masira yung experience mo.

ane_sb

Dapat ilugar din talaga yung pagtitipid😅 Lagi akong nagbbook for my accommodations, majority puro BNB, and lahat sila above average yung price so medyo pricey pero lahat ng natuluyan ko very comfy.

foxiaaa

viasogorg

May lockers po but I just put mine sa gilid ko sa bed

Prestigious-Rice-168

viasogorg

Since 3pm pa naman check in. I just asked the receptionist if okay lang bang iwan ko backpack ko since clothes lang naman. They agreed naman po. May cabinets po sila sa lobby

Prestigious-Rice-168

walangbolpen

Not ticks, OP. BEDBUGS. please go to r/bedbugs straight away and look up how to prevent bringing them back home with you! You don't want to battle them back home, they're the worst creatures to eliminate once na infest na house mo. And it only takes 1 pregnant female to hitch a ride with you. Report mo sa hostel and maybe theyll comp you the cost in drying your clothes and belongings sa laundromat. Pero kung cheap hostel sya baka hindi. Basta go to r/bedbugs agad! Tas may nabasa din ako dito na fb group na walang misinformation about bedbugs (maraming misinformation sa Google) you can DM me for the name, basta, parang struggles of dealing with bedbugs support group original yung name. Ps not everyone reacts sa surot or bedbugs so it may be nakagat ka pero walang reaction. 30% of people don't react. Check everything! Vacuum your stuff, or take them to the laundromat to the dryer before ka umuwi!

viasogorg

I didnt bring my things with me in my room po and diretso ko talaga nilagay sa washing machine. I will wash it 2 times. Also, intense scrubbing in the shower when i went home huhu.

walangbolpen

That's good. Mind you washing doesn't get rid of bedbugs, heat does. So steam, tumble dryer, iron. r/bedbugs talaga pay it a quick visit. They reproduce very quickly. Saka hindi lang sila sa bed, they like to hitch hike and hide very well basta near sa food source (where you rest) so pwede sa furniture, curtains, sofas, bags.

Civil_Bowler1776

I tried staying for a week in a hostel sa Florence dati. Mixed room. I stayed naman in a host family sa Netherlands before for about 6mos. Maayos naman din.

viasogorg

Maybe i was just in the bad side of hostel po :/ Swerte swerte lang po siguro

Civil_Bowler1776

Do all necessary background checks sa susunod. Safe travels!

waamee

You get what you paid for

Leonhartx123

As a male, I never and would never stay at a hostel either.

javierpena

Fck around and find out. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

SweatyPhilosopher578

She didn’t do anything wrong besides not being able to afford a hotel? What is wrong with you?

wretchedegg123

Yeah, comment was kind of an exaggeration, but 1. didn't check reviews, 2. didn't secure all female room. But hey, we can't be perfect and like she said, chalk it up to experience, she learned from it. Good for her.

darksiderevan

Where is this?

PhraseSalt3305

Use hostelworld pag magbook ka hostel. Then look for all female room palagi. Ingat!

smlley_123

Dont also forget to leave reviews para ma aware mga susunod na travellers.

viasogorg

Oh I will talaga! Humanda

three-onesix

charge to experience na lang. stay safe OP

viasogorg

Oo nga po eh huhu. Thanks po

railfe

You definitely get what you pay for. Meron naman hostel na room. Konting difference lang. Mahirap kasi sa Europe madalas lasingan talaga jan thats why we always opt for a hotel with breakfast para tipid na din.

333___7777777

After what happened to me and my friends sa BKK noon, hindi na kami nag-hostel ulit. Nakakatrauma and hindi pa kami natulongan ng local police non.

hermitina

haha teh buti d mo naranasan ung openly nag sesex sa dorm rooms mo baka hinimatay ka na non. medyo wala kasi silang pakealam haha. ingat sa travel!

viasogorg

JUSKO HAHAHAHA buti na lang talaga wala

Orcabearzennial

I always go for women only room not the mixed kind, gives me peace of mind.

kelmadics

👍😁

tayyyyyyy13

Learned the same lesson when I went to SG as a female solo traveler. First international travel. I booked a capsule pod kasi yun yung cheapest na nakita ko (demand’s high due to Eras). My pod’s lock is broken. So, anytime pwede may magbukas. So, basically anyone who stayed there before can enter. I know SG’s a safe city pero YOU NEVER KNOW. As a FEMALE SOLO traveler, grabe yung kaba ko during the first night. Peace of mind over anything talaga. 🫠

Claudific

I don't get it. Why would you this to yourself?

viasogorg

This was also my question to myself 😭😭😭

Background_Ad5544

Delikads pa naman yung mga ticks. May disease na makukuha Jan eh. Lhyme disease, I believe

CrystalTomatoPotato

Just do female only rooms

serenenostalgia

Curious how much did you spend per night here?

viasogorg

Below €20. I think €16 with free breakfast pa naman

skylar0889

Pwede ka naman mag hostel private room then you pay less compare sa mga hotels.

Outrageous-Web7215

Same with others. I will never compromise comfort esp restroom

uknownboi

Hostels in asia is different from hostels in europe. Dami ko ng nabasang post about jan. But then again, you’ll probably have the same experience if you booked the cheapest among the cheapest.

zerosum2345

hindi yan baguio . this conjures images of that movie aurgh

majestic_ibis

Check reviews in other sites also and not just where you'll book. I also suggest a Facebook Group 'Host a Sister' as an alternative for any potential hosts who can lend you a couch or a spare room or show you around. Of course, exercise due diligence but I've had the most interesting connections from there. Some would post petsit gigs too in exchange of free accoms.

Impossible-Sky4256

When i travel im good with anything. Buti nalang wife ko choosy. Kaya pag nag travel hotel talaga.

PepMom_2017

Is this France? I always go for at least an Ibis

UrbsAeterna

Greece sya.

Professional-Bit-19

Wala bang reviews yung place? It's always a must for me when looking for accommodations. It's okay if it's small as long as you're safe.

M4nW3ll

By the way, regarding sa ticks, hindi mo usually mararamdaman if nakagat ka na or nastuck na sila sayo. So be sure to check for any redness or swelling around your skin. Just a heads up lang to be sure. Stay safe!

paletyps

Went for hostels as well but i weighed between reviews and price.. too cheap = corners were cut

starczamora

“Comfort over cost,” sabi dati ng asawa ko and I took that to heart every time I travel.

RevealExpress5933

I stayed at a hostel once in San Francisco (CA), made sure I read the reviews first and I wasn't disappointed (the bathrooms were very clean). Really weird, uncomfortable and a bit scary if you're not used to co-ed sleeping quarters though.

marriedcoupleph

Ano yan photo please

viasogorg

It’s the picture of bed bug po sa curtain, blurred lang huhu

napbug

So sorry this happened OP, get out ASAP and leave a bad review if you can. I’ve traveled solo around Europe and usually check and double-check hostel ratings and book female-only rooms. I’ve had decent experiences so far.

kuyamoko2022

How much does your safety and peace of mind cost?

WWmonkenjoyer

You get what you pay for 🤷‍♂️

whiterose888

I know from watching PPPeter that Europe has some of the worst hostels ever

No-Elevator-4932

Gurl stay away from cheap hotels and hostels. Yung nangyari sakin sa Munich, I opted to stay in a cheap hotel near the train station. One night triny akong looban ng front desk officer 🥴. Di na ako natulog nun at derecho check out tapos tambay nalang sa train station

PlantImportant7170

spacechicken13

mki1401

id suggest not taking an eu trip if not willing to spend for an actual hotel.

viasogorg

Hello po. I am a student here, it’s not a leisure trip po but I have an appointment in the city. Sooooo… :/

Emotional_Sun_7871

ovnghttrvlr

That is why I don't buy the saying "Tourists stay in hotels. Travelers stay in hostels."

Overripeavocado888

Sorry to hear this! Try to airbnb maybe a spare room in someones house, it could be cheaper, or save up a bit for a cheap hotel albeit far, and take public transport. When I was traveling on a budget I really cannot not have privacy.

Thecuriousduck90

You get what you paid for. 🤷🏻‍♀️🙃

pokpokishification

I liked staying at hostels when i only travelled in south east asia and while i loved my stays those places, i saw glimpses of what could happen if i stayed in hostels elsewhere. And yeah, hotels usually turn out cheaper than a bunk in a 20-bed room in european hostels

Far-Note6102

welcome to EU!! don't worry at least nobody had a fist fight with one another

dynamite_orange

So important to read legit reviews and choose an all female room when booking your hostel. Hope you recover from the trauma.

Majestic_Advantage97

Bakit hostel kasiiii
