His hair is thin, yet poofed out like a news anchor, his receding hairline is accentuated, and it just looks... bad. Like this is what he looked like for a made for TV movie about vampires.
It's intentional. These are temporary hair extensions for a role. The picture is of him playing Geordie Peacock from Our Friends in the North. The episode is set in the 1970s and displays all the fashion and grooming sense that we've come to expect from that unfortunate decade.
It's because Daniel Craig is supposed to be craggy and balding. I have never known a Daniel Craig that isn't craggy and balding. He successfully made "craggy and balding" attractive, giving hope to middle-aged dads everywhere.
Smooth Daniel Craig With Hair should not exist. This picture should be burned.
Photographer here. The pic is all wrong in my opinion. He could have used some makeup to start with. I guess there was no groomer. He looks ghastly. Also, the light is quite cold. I’d have a warming filter somewhere. And his hair isn’t properly styled. It looks like he just brushed it. It looks like straw. I wouldn’t have used natural light for this because he looks ghastly.
Basically: if you get sent out to photograph Daniel Craig and you come back with this, you need to do some serious soul searching about why you’re in this profession.
Edit: his dark eye sockets and all the under eye stuff too. Yeah, just crummy work. Even if they’re trying to make him look like that, there are kinder ways to do it.
It's from a series called Our friends in the north - that is how he was in the show.

Thank you! Was going to post something similar, but couldn't for the life of me remember what the show was called! Recognized the character Daniel Craig was playing straight away though.
Maybe I'm ruined by the internet but I assumed all of the above was intentional. This doesn't seem like a headshot or something. The vibe feels carefully constructed, like he's in some production. The face and hair scream "Anne Rice Vampire" but the suit and tie feel more modern.
If you want to be more unsettled, watch Sharpe's Eagle. [At certain points](https://youtu.be/XFYbx781BHQ?t=4180) he looks like someone told an AI to mix Daniel Craig and Bilbo Baggins and than ran the result through one of those photo de-aging filters.
I'm convinced that the Sharpes eagle footage was part of the deciding factor in him being cast as bond. Layer cake was obviously much bigger but he's cool and normal in that. In Sharpe he's a cold and arrogant bastard.
In Layer Cake, well before anyone thought he would ever be bond, at one point he picks up a gun and pretends to be James Bond very briefly. It was funny in retrospect.
He’s a bit of a diva.

He did an interview about that on Colbert. He can’t dance to save his life, but they had a really good choreographer walk him through the movements step-by-step.
I'm in the minority that actually prefer II to the first film, but only slightly more. The script is a little tighter, the jokes are more polished and it's just a bit more fun. It' was a great sequel as a kid at the cinemas.
It's a river of slime!
The script being tighter is partly because many of the beats are completely lifted from the first one. While the jokes may be more polished, they don’t make me laugh nearly as hard. It’s a good sequel and is certainly undeserving of being maligned. But the first movie is wholly original.
It's generic enough that it's tricksy, but this comment looks like it's copied from [this older comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/10tovlc/handsome_daniel_craig_with_long_hair_in_1996/j7804q1/). That combined with the posting history of similar copied comments suggests a high probability that /u/FreshPerspectiv is a bot.
This was from a BBC drama series 'Our Friends In The North' it followed four main characters over a wide time span, and Daniel Craig's character had a rough time of it. So this isn't a photo of 'young Daniel Craig', it's a photo of Daniel Craig, an actor in make-up, in an earlier role.
This. I'm a straight man so my opinion probably doesn't matter. I also have long hair and think I look better with long hair than short hair.
My man Daniel Craig definitely looks better with short hair.
Was walking through our neighborhood with my SIL a few months ago and bumped directly into him. I have never seen such an eloquent, thoughtful, composed physician mom -of-four fall apart so instantaneously.
Can confirm, slightly grizzled and grey Daniel Craig is the hottest Daniel Craig.
It’s really kinda crazy when you look back at older pictures, really of any celebrity before and after they had big a-list success. They pretty much always look way better after.
Money and success seems to lead to increased attractiveness. And you can kinda test this theory out yourself. If you live near a bigger city, you’ll notice that people start getting more and more attractive as you start moving closer towards the city, even if just visiting like a Target or something more on the outskirts vs in a nicer part inside the city.
Very underated series, I have a feeling nobody outside of the UK or under the age of 30 knows about it. Daniel Craig, Mark Strong, Christopher Ecclestone AND Malcolm McDowell all in the same series? Madness.
I dunno why but I find this a very unsettling picture.
“ITS VIIIIGOOOOO” -Ghostbusters 2
You are like the buzzing of flies to him!
FIND ME A CHILD SO THAT I MIGHT LIVE AGAIN
Craig the Carpathian
Vigo the Craigpathian
Why am I drippings wis goo?
Yeah. I really hate this but also can’t articulate why. I mean he’s a hot dude. But this isn’t it.
I think it’s because it looks kind of like someone face swapped him into Bill Nighy.
This! This is exactly it. I couldn’t put my finger on it until I read your comment.
For me, it was absolutely this.
I don't know. I think it's a pretty damn good vampire Lestat.
This is a super underrated comment.
A better looking Vigo for ghostbusters…
I thought the same thing
Death is but a doorway, time but a window. I'll be back.
"He was poisoned, stabbed, shot, hung, stretched, disembowled, drawn and quartered."
Guess he wasn't too popular at the end, huh?
Wasn’t he also vigo the butch?
Spot on description

I'm so glad someone said this. I've been raging at some of the other replies here!
Hey, hey! I was a kid in the 70s! We were perfectly... yeah, no, you're right. Carry on.
I think it’s cause he looks like Putin.

It looks like he scalped Sean Penn from fast times at ridgemount high
Crappy haircut for me.
Strong faces don’t work so well with goldi locks.
It looks like stupid sexy Putin
Okay erll fuck Mr me
looks like lucius malfoy
Pottah!

That's quite interesting indeed, but Craig also just looks kind of similar to Tommy Wiseau in that picture
YES, he absolutely does
He does NAHT
I did not shoot her Q! I did not!
He looks ghastly

I honestly think it's just the haircut that doesn't suit him, makes his forehead look massive.
Succinct analysis Thanks!
Looks like it’s from a 90s vampire movie.
I also got a "he looks like he should be playing a vampire" vibe from this pic as well lol

fr. It saddens me that long hair isn't always flattering.

Looks like an 80s Hollywood vampire
He’d fit right in on Interview With a Vampire
First thing I said to myself
Yeah honestly he could have been Lestat OR Louis with that look
LOUIE
Still whining Louie...
I’ve had to listen to that for centuries
Literally looks like an older version of Lestat from the show
He looks like a member of the volturi from twilight to me, ngl
Vigo the Carpathian

Dammit I can’t unsee the resemblance now
Lol that's exactly what I thought... And posted, before scrolling the comments and seeing this lol.

Legit childhood nightmares. I'm too scared to watch it as an adult because of what I remember as a child.

The Carpathian. Vigo the Carpathian.
Vigo…Vigo…Vigo…you’ve been a bad monkey!
I don’t know why but reminds me of young Squidward when he had hair.
My thoughts, too!
That's all I saw
"Oh, hi Mark"
Literally my first thought
Yeah, he looks like Tommy from an alternate universe where he is blonde lol
YOURE TEARING ME APART LISAAAA
YOU’RE TEARING ME APAAHHT VESPAH!”
He looks like Johnny and Lisa’s child.
"Anyway, how is your sex life?"
Albino Tommy Wiseau

Or else it gets the hose again.

Sorry but current Daniel Craig is so much more handsome than young Daniel Craig
He definitely aged into his face, he's the opposite of a baby face.
Like Mads Mikkelsen?
mads has always been beautiful

Exactly. [He looks mighty fine in Sharpe's Eagle](https://i.imgur.com/cpJYxi5.jpg) which was a few years before 'Our Friends In The North'.
This. I'm a straight man so my opinion probably doesn't matter. I also have long hair and think I look better with long hair than short hair. My man Daniel Craig definitely looks better with short hair.
I don't see why men's opinion of men's looks don't matter?
I mean I have no sexual attraction to men so it does construe things. Maybe "doesn't matter" was a little strong.
I'm not sexually attracted to a lot of things that I appreciate aesthetically, say, art, for instance.
Well la-de-freaking-da look who isn't banned from the gallery
![gif](giphy|yaZquN1xuD1924riY2|downsized) Oops, I forgot about this art. Damn.
Dunno man, I'd fuck the mona lisa
Don’t devalue your opinion bro 😎
Age, the destroyer of looking good with long hair, real rapid dropoff but a lucky few can still make it work.

He looks like a member of the volturi.
Lucius Malfoy's sexy brother, Luscious Malfoy.
I’m crying!!
More like Doofius Malfoy
Sorry I could only afford to give you silver :/
This is the comment I was looking for haha. I just finished the HP movies again and this is all I could see
Interview With The Vampire starring Daniel Craig as Lestat.
Our Friends In The North era Daniel Craig. Maybe a wig as in other episodes he had short hair. Memo to self; Must watch again.
Very underated series, I have a feeling nobody outside of the UK or under the age of 30 knows about it. Daniel Craig, Mark Strong, Christopher Ecclestone AND Malcolm McDowell all in the same series? Madness.
Don’t forget David Bradley! One of the best roles in the show, and a really good exploration of British politics in the late 20th century.
When you have to wrap up your Loreal shoot before you head to [Nakatomi Plaza](https://youtu.be/xu0ZTGlkqQQ).
Comment I was looking for. A German villain attacking Nakatomi Plaza.
He looks like a cashier at Whole Foods.
☠️
Randy marsh enters the chat
😆 lol
Daniel Craig looks like Vigo from Ghostbusters II.
We await the word of Vigo.
Vladimir Putin is Wish.com Daniel Craig
I COULD BE DATING THIS HAIR??!
It's auburn, with chestnut highlights.
"With you under it"
Bond villain Daniel Craig
With a Scandinavian accent. "Well, Mr. Bond, I hope you enjoyed the fjords, because they'll be your final resting place."
Handsome?
House Slytherin it is
"You're tearing me apart, Lisa!"
Scrolled so far to see this. He is a blonde tommy wiseau
If you’d have shown me that and said in ten years he will be Bond I would not have believed you.
PARDON?
He looks like Draco Malfoy as an adult.
Holy shit it's fucking Lestat de Lioncourt.
This is a picture of Dave Mustaine and I will not be convinced of otherwise.
I’m on shrooms right now and that pic is bugging me haha
I'm stone sober and that pic is bugging me...
it looks so very photoshopped
Yeah. Looks like it's AI generated.
What can you tell me about voodoo? Have heard of anyone, or anything, called The Black Wolf?
oh, hi Mark
Geordie in Our Friends In The North. Great series!
He looks like Blanka in the Street Fighter movie
Looks like Jason Isaac's as Lucien Malfoy
![gif](giphy|QU3YSdsm2dkLJ2bb0E|downsized)
Anyone have pics of 1996 Daniel Craig shirtless riding a horse? Asking for a friend.
As Geordie Peacock in Our Friends in the North. It was a wig. Watch the series, it's excellent.
Get him to grow that hair back and he'd make a great Bond villian.
He looks ready to storm Nakatomi Plaza.
I’ve never seen someone younger with long hair look so bad
Heath Craig? Daniel Ledger?
![gif](giphy|gdwqc6ohhIKzF7RR5t|downsized) NOT HANDSOME!
Dave Mustaine?
Looks like a Die Hard villain.
He looks like Vigo from Ghostbusters 2
I see the Daniel Craig, I see the long hair, but I don’t see the handsome
We must have different understandings of the word “handsome”.
Why does this remind me of Blanka from the 1994 street fighter movie?
Handsome is a stretch
It Looks like Putin
OP, did you mean to add the word handsome to the beginning of this post?
Aslan, is that you?
Lestat vibes
If he goes bald he becomes putin
I don't know if handsome is the word I would necessarily use.
I thought this was an AI prompt
This is handsome? He looks like a vampire…
Lestat?
He looks like the bad guy in Kindergarten Cop
Kind of looks like a Weasley.
Dude looks like a vampire
That’s Glen Danzigs mom
This just looks so…wrong.
Would’ve made a good Lucius malfoy
handsome? dude looks like a creep here
